US pledges to prevent Russia from developing new energy projects

Washington wants to ensure that Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project is “dead in the water,” the State Department has said

(Not so subtle admission, already stating they will blow up the new pipeline, like Nord Stream 2)

The US is aiming to halt the development of the Russian energy sector, including a major new LNG project in the Arctic, senior State Department official Geoffrey Pyatt has said. (Pyatt wasn't he ambassador to Ukraine? Yes but it's much worse, he was involved with the 2014 Coup with Nuland in Ukraine. Will post info next.)

Speaking at a Financial Times summit on Monday, Pyatt stated that the US is specifically targeting the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia’s northern Yamal Region, which is being developed by private energy giant Novatek.

“Our goal is to ensure that Arctic LNG 2 is dead in the water,” Pyatt, who serves as assistant secretary of state for energy resources, was quoted as saying by the British newspaper. “We’re very focused on ensuring thatRussia is not able to develop new projects in order to [redirect] the gas that it had previously sent into Europe.” (Bidan wants more money from Europe and charge them higher prices than Russia)

The US has imposed several rounds of economic restrictions on Arctic LNG 2, the most recent of which was announced in November 2023.

Cutting Europe off from cheap Russian pipeline gas has been a key componentof Western retaliation since Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine in 2022. While American LNG producers have seized a large share of the market, Russian gas continues to flow to some EU member states.

According to a Reuters estimate, the EU boosted purchases of Russian LNG in 2023 to compensate for the loss of pipeline gas. LNG currently holds a 15% share of the market, up from roughly 8% before 2022. The share of the Russian pipeline gas was previously 37%.

Moscow considers the Ukraine conflict to be part of a US-led proxy war against Russia, one of the goals of which is to quash economic competition. The wellbeing of Europeans has been sacrificed by Washington in the process, Russian officials have argued.

The loss of the European market has prompted Moscow to refocus on pipelines linking major gas fields with customers in Asia, primarily China.

(US ok with f’ing Europe in the ass, to make more money. I hope the European leaders appreciate Bidan ruining their countries with the disastrous idea of the Ukraine war. They are the only ones hurting economically)

Geoffrey R. Pyatt

Pyatt took the Oath of Office of United States Ambassador to Ukraine on July 30, 2013in the Harry S Truman Building of the US State Department in Washington, D.C. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych accepted Pyatt's credentials on August 15, 2013.[4] After his appointment,Pyatt started actively studying the Ukrainian language. On October 15, 2013 Pyatt attended an international conference on fighting anti-Semitism in Kyiv, but could not address the audience at the event due to the United States federal government shutdown of 2013.[5]

Assistant Secretary Victoria Nuland and Geoffrey Pyatt greet Ukrainian President-elect Petro Poroshenko before he met with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Warsaw, Poland, on June 4, 2014.

During the 2014 Ukrainian revolution against Ukraine's President Victor Yanukovych Pyatt became part of a diplomatic scandal in January 2014, when his conversation with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State, Victoria Nuland, was apparently intercepted and uploaded to YouTube. The conversation included Nuland saying "Fuck the EU", which were harshly criticized by the President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy and by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.[6][7][8] The call followed an offer made on January 25, 2014 by Ukrainian president Yanukovych to include two members of the opposition in his government to calm the Maidan protests in Ukraine, one being that of his Prime Minister. [9] Nuland and Pyatt voiced their opinions of this offer, specifically on the post of Prime Minister, giving their opinion on the suitability and role of several opposition personalities. Of Vitali Klitschko, Pyatt said "let him stay out and do his political homework and stuff I'm just thinking in terms of sort of the process moving ahead we want to keep the moderate democrats together". He also proposed "some kind of outreach to Yanukovych" and Nuland mentioned that then-Vice President Joe Biden would be helpful in that regard. He further said "we want to try to get somebody with an international personality to come out here and help to midwife this thing" (a reference to Nuland's earlier suggestion of Robert Serry of the UN).[10] This led to speculation in Russia and in the United States that the U.S. Government was interfering with Ukraine's sovereignty.[11][12][13]

After President Yanukovych's dismissal by the Ukrainian Parliament [14] Pyatt characterised pro-Russian separatist rebels in Donetsk and Luhansk as "terrorists".[15]

On September 25, 2015, during his speech at Odesa Financial Forum, Pyatt criticized Ukrainian Prosecutor's office.[citation needed]

On May 19, 2016, he was nominated by U.S. President Barack Obama to serve as United States Ambassador to Greece. He was replaced by Marie L. Yovanovitch in Ukraine[16]

He presented his credentials on October 24, 2016. He served in the post for 5 years until his resignation in 2022.[citation needed]

On April 22, 2022, President Joe Biden nominated Pyatt to the position of Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources.[17] The Senate confirmed his nomination on September 15, 2022, and he was sworn in on September 19.[18] (What qualifies him for this job, oh yeah, it's just payback)

Russia launches terrorism probe into US and NATO officials

Moscow is following a trail from last month’s Crocus City Hall attack

Intelligence agencies and law enforcement are looking at certain Western government officials as part of an investigation into the funding of terrorist attacks such as the massacre at Crocus City Hall and the bombing of the Nord Stream pipelines, the Russian Investigative Committee announced on Tuesday.

The probe was launched after a referral by several Russian lawmakers, which accused the US and its allies of organizing the March 22 attack on the Moscow concert venue.

Investigators are currently looking at the potentialinvolvement of “specific individuals from among government officials, people with civic and commercial organizations of Western countries,” said committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko.

It has already been established that funding for terrorist attacks inside Russia has been funneled through Ukrainian companies, including the notorious Burisma Holdings – former employers of US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter – Petrenko added.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia has also said it would follow theevidence leading to “persons and structures located in the US, Germany, France and Cyprus.”

In addition to last month’s Crocus City Hall attack, the investigation is looking at other terrorist acts, including the assassinations of prominent public figures and the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in international waters.

Investigators are establishing the connections between the direct perpetrators of terrorist acts and “foreign curators, organizers and sponsors,” Petrenko added.
