US Sent Seized Iranian Weapons, Ammo To Ukraine As Resupply Efforts Hit Desperation

The Pentagon announced Tuesday it has delivered thousands of small arms previously seized from a shipment intended for Yemen's Houthi rebels, along with over half a million rounds of ammunition.

The US believes the seized arms were supplied by Iran, and recent years have seen an untick in these 'illegal' shipments from Tehran to the Houthis via regional waters. US Central Command had said the arms were delivered to Ukraine forces last week, coming amid reported severe ammo and weapons shortages along the front lines with Russia.

"The US government transferred over 5,000 AK-47s, machine guns, sniper rifles, RPG-7s and over 500,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition to the Ukrainian armed forces" on Thursday, CENTCOM announced on social media.

"These weapons will help Ukraine defend against Russia's invasion" and are enough material to equip a brigade, the statement touted further.

CENTCOM described that it was the result of several ship seizures running between May 2021 and February 2023 from "stateless vessels". The Pentagon says Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was ultimately behind the shipments.

"Iran's support for armed groups threatens international and regional security, our forces, diplomatic personnel, and citizens in the region, as well as those of our partners. We will continue to do whatever we can to shed light on and stop Iran's destabilizing activities," CENTCOM added.

Starting months ago, the Pentagon began warning that it is running out of weapons for Ukraine, having just "months" left in approved supplies, at a sensitive moment that support from among the Western allies in general is waning, and as Biden's desired $60 billion more in defense aid for Kiev has remained blocked by House Republicans.

US pledges to prevent Russia from developing new energy projects

Washington wants to ensure that Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project is “dead in the water,” the State Department has said

The US is aiming to halt the development of the Russian energy sector, including a major new LNG project in the Arctic, senior State Department official Geoffrey Pyatt has said. (Pyatt wasn't he ambassador to Ukraine? Yes but it's much worse, he was involved with the 2014 Coup with Nuland in Ukraine. Will post info next.)

Speaking at a Financial Times summit on Monday, Pyatt stated that the US is specifically targeting the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia’s northern Yamal Region, which is being developed by private energy giant Novatek.

“Our goal is to ensure that Arctic LNG 2 is dead in the water,” Pyatt, who serves as assistant secretary of state for energy resources, was quoted as saying by the British newspaper. “We’re very focused on ensuring thatRussia is not able to develop new projects in order to [redirect] the gas that it had previously sent into Europe.” (Bidan wants more money from Europe and charge them higher prices than Russia)

The US has imposed several rounds of economic restrictions on Arctic LNG 2, the most recent of which was announced in November 2023.

Cutting Europe off from cheap Russian pipeline gas has been a key componentof Western retaliation since Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine in 2022. While American LNG producers have seized a large share of the market, Russian gas continues to flow to some EU member states.

According to a Reuters estimate, the EU boosted purchases of Russian LNG in 2023 to compensate for the loss of pipeline gas. LNG currently holds a 15% share of the market, up from roughly 8% before 2022. The share of the Russian pipeline gas was previously 37%.

Moscow considers the Ukraine conflict to be part of a US-led proxy war against Russia, one of the goals of which is to quash economic competition. The wellbeing of Europeans has been sacrificed by Washington in the process, Russian officials have argued.

The loss of the European market has prompted Moscow to refocus on pipelines linking major gas fields with customers in Asia, primarily China.

Over three dozen lots of hand sanitizer and aloe gel are reportedly being recalled because they contain a highly poisonous substance that can cause severe health issues, including blindness and coma.

The FDA said Friday that Aruba Aloe Balm N.V., which is based in Oranjestad, Aruba, is “voluntarily” recalling 40 lots of Aruba Aloe Hand Sanitizer Gel Alcohol 80% and Aruba Aloe Alcoholada Gel. These products contain alcohol modified with methanol.

As the FDA notes, exposure to methanol can lead to nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, coma, seizures, permanent blindness, permanent damage to the central nervous system, or death. The people most at risk for methanol poisoning are children who accidentally ingest these products and adolescents and adults who drink these products as an alcohol (ethanol) substitute.

Aruba Aloe Balm N.V. claims it has not received any reports of adverse events connected to the use of its products.

Aruba Aloe Hand Sanitizer Gel is used as a sanitizer to help reduce bacteria that can potentially cause disease. It is packaged in 12 fl oz green plastic bottles with white labels reading in part “ARUBA ALOE Hand Sanitizer GEL 80% Alcohol Made in Aruba World’s Finest Aloe.”

Aruba Aloe Alcoholada Gel is designed to provide temporary relief of pain and itching associated with minor burns, sunburn, insect bites, or minor skin irritations. It comes in 2.2 and 8.5 fl. oz clear bottles.

OPINION:

For nearly 250 years, one of the bedrock principles of our constitutional republic is that our system of justice is blind. It’s one of the ideals that sets America apart and makes us the envy of the world.

This means the law must be applied to everyone equally regardless of race, gender, economic status or political affiliation. In the Trump era, however, Americans are witnessing the startling emergence of a two-tiered system of justice before their very eyes. Hillary Clinton’s classified email fiasco, the Russia hoax, the Mueller sham, the Hunter Biden laptop, the Justice Department’s ongoing protection of President Biden — the list seems to grow every day.

As we observe a deeply unpopular president authorizing partisan cronies to weaponize the justice system to jail his political opponent, it’s critically important for members of the judiciary to prevent this country-wrecking behavior from doing irreparable harm. This must start with judges going above and beyond the call of duty regarding conflicts of interest and even the appearance of a conflict of interest.

Look no further than the kangaroo court presiding over the Trump trial for the political charges being brought by New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a radical left-wing Democratic politician from the liberal bastion of Manhattan.

Mr. Bragg has decided to destroy his credibility to do the bidding of President Biden by prosecuting former President Donald Trump for alleged offenses so weak and hard to justify that no one else in history would ever be charged for the same thing. It’s textbook Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Quite predictably, instead of doing their jobs, the mainstream media are not asking any tough questions and seems fine with the lasting damage this charade will do to the American justice system as long as Mr. Trump is either crushed politically or found guilty.

The question at hand is whether the judge in the case, New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, should recuse himself because of conflicts of interest involving both himself and a member of his immediate family. In 2020, Justice Merchan made political contributions to Mr. Biden and a couple of Democratic causes.

The size of the donations is not the issue here. The issue is that Justice Merchan is a financial supporter of Mr. Trump’s political opponent and, therefore, biased against the defendant in this case. This in itself is more than enough to warrant a recusal.

Imagine if Hunter Biden were to draw a judge who has made political contributions to Mr. Trump. The left would call for a recusal in unison, and their allies in the liberal media wouldn’t rest until it happened. Sensible Americans fully understand the obvious double standard on display, but the coastal elites are too arrogant to care. This corruption and arrogance are causing Mr. Biden’s election interference strategy to backfire in real time.

But the conflicts of interest don’t stop with Justice Merchan. His daughter Loren is a liberal activist and political consultant who has worked for Mr. Biden and Kamala Harris. Not only is the judge a financial supporter of Mr. Biden, but his family has benefited financially from a lucrative business relationship with both candidates on the Democratic ticket. On her company’s website, it states that the firm “engaged 15,000 undecided voters in Arizona, surpassing the margin of victory” for Mr. Biden in 2020.

Loren Merchanwas also named a “2020 Rising Star” by Campaigns & Elections, where she was described as a Democrat and lauded for “doing ground-breaking, historical work for clients like Jon Tester, Vice President Kamala Harris, Rep. Adam Schiff, and others. Authentic Campaigns is setting new industry standards through its commitment to diversity, transparent compensation, employee benefits, and more.”

Mr. Schiff — who has been trying to frame Mr. Trump and get him thrown in jail for years — praised Ms. Merchan’s company for helping him “build a digital program that has exceeded all my expectations.” You can’t make this stuff up.

The American people are very smart, and they see this for what it is. The Merchan family will benefit from the reelection of Mr. Biden, and therefore, they want Mr. Trump’s sham trial to end with a guilty verdict. Openly anti-Trump political activity suggests that Justice Merchan will do everything he can to steer the trial to a favorable conclusion for Mr. Biden. And that’s why the judge must recuse himself without delay.

This isn’t a tough call. If Justice Merchan stays on this case, no one with an ounce of common sense will ever think justice is blind again. If this judge is interested in maintaining the legitimacy of the judiciary in our country, he should do what is clearly the right thing and step aside.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned state health officials to prepare for a surge of bird flu cases in humans as more cattle herds across the nation test positive.

The CDC alert was given in a Friday meeting with state leaders, telling them to make sure they have “up-to-date operational plans” in case more farm workers test positive for the H5N1 virus, according to the Daily Mail.

A Texas dairy farm employee recently tested positive for the highly pathogenic influenza, making for the second case in humans in the U.S., the CDC also said Friday.

The first positive case was in a Colorado poultry worker in 2022, the health agency reported.

Even though the virus is not currently prevalent in humans, officials are concerned it could become so due to the uptick in cattle that have tested positive.

The majority of cattle with bird flu are located in Texas, but cases have been reported on farms across Kansas, New Mexico, Ohio, Michigan, and Idaho.

“This is the first time this virus has been found in cows and would be the first instance of cow-to-human spread of bird flu,” the CDC said in its public announcement, noting that there has been “no sign of person-to-person spread of this virus at this time.”

The agency added that this is an “emerging and rapidly evolving situation,” but the overall risk to the general public that this virus poses “remains low.”

The meeting with state officials was led by CDC Deputy Director Nirav Shah and Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, who was the deputy coordinator of the Biden administration’s National Monkeypox Response Team in 2022.

A CDC press release that the Daily Mail obtained stated that the agency “recommended that state public health officials… ensure that they have up-to-date operational plans to respond to avian influenza at the state level.”

“For example, the CDC emphasized the importance of having plans in place to quickly test and provide treatment to potentially impacted farm workers following positive results among cattle herds,” officials said.

The one Texas individual who has contracted the virus has been experiencing inflammation of the eye as his/her only symptom and is reportedly “recovering well” in quarantine.

He/she is “also being treated with the drug oseltamivir, or Tamiflu, and [is] not thought to have passed the virus on to anyone else,” the outlet added.

Bird flu, also known as the avian flu, has been sweeping through chicken farms as well.

The Mississippi-based company, Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., also said that cases had been discovered at a facility in Michigan, Breitbart News reported.

Its Tuesday press release stated that an estimated 1.6 million laying hens and 337,000 pullets in its Parmer County, Texas, plant were destroyed after being infected — 3.6 percent of the facility’s total flock.

“The Company continues to work closely with federal, state and local government officials and focused industry groups to mitigate the risk of future outbreaks and effectively manage the response,” the statement, which the Associated Press obtained, said.

The bird flu even contributed to the inflated cost of eggs observed over Easter weekend, with 11.4 million birds being affected by outbreaks through 2023, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data.

The Daily Mail spoke with Big Pharma insider John Fulton about the outbreak, with Fulton telling the outlet, “This appears to be 100 times worse than COVID — or it could be if it mutates and maintains its high case fatality rate.”

In a scenario strikingly similar to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. and Chinese governments were working together on avian flu gain-of-function research, which makes viruses more infectious for humans.

GOP Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky shared a screenshot of a February 2024 Daily Mail article with the headline, “REVEALED: US is collaborating with Chinese scientists to make bird flu strains more infectious and deadly as part of $1m project – despite fears similar tests unleashed Covid.”

“Where have we seen this before? U.S. collaborates with China to make bird flu more contagious and transmissible to mammals. bird flu now discovered in U.S. dairy cattle, transmitted to at least one human being. Knock it off already!” Massie wrote.

The article also made multiple connections between the U.S.-China bird flu research and the infamous Wuhan lab where COVID-19 originated.

“The main collaborators on the project are USDA Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the University of Edinburgh’s Roslin Institute – a Wuhan lab partner,” Daily Mail wrote.

“Additionally, one of the researchers collaborating on the project is Wenju Liu, who is affiliated with the WIV – which is believed to have sparked the Covid pandemic – and a member of the board of a scientific journal, working with Zheng-Li Shi, who is known as the ‘bat lady’ for her extensive work on bat coronaviruses.”

Secretive U.S. bird flu research was also being done at the infamous American-run Ukraine biolabs, according to the Russian government as Infowars reported in May 2023.

The task force of the Russian Ministry of Defence together with officers of the Federal Security Service and Rosselkhoznadzor have confirmed the collection and certification of avian influenza virus strains with a high potential for epidemic spread and the ability to cross the species barrier, particularly the H5N8 strain, whose lethality in human transmission can reach 40%. Remember that 1% of new coronavirus infections result in death.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also claimed the Ukrainians tried to destroy the biolab in an effort to cover up the U.S. avian flu research.

“According to the employees who remained in the Reserve, the Ukrainian side offered them a large cash reward for removing or destroying the research results,” the ministry stated.

The World Health Organization warned of a potential bird flu outbreak back in February of 2023, and the U.S. started work on producing vaccines for both birds and humans.

It’s extremely bizarre that the potential outbreak is taking place during an election year (just like Covid) and that the establishment has already been steering people away from consuming cow meat and milk as well as chicken meat and eggs.

Convicted pedophiles could face much darker future with GOP-backed bill: 'Can't rehabilitate a predator'

Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna is slated to introduce a bill this week that would raise the federal minimum for sexual abusers of children to the death penalty or life in prison, the congresswoman told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview.

"One of my big platforms has been: how do you combat child trafficking, just with everything happening in our country? And it seems like there's been this obviously massive issue here in the states with consumption of whether it's child pornography and/or just attacks really on kids. And in honor of sexual assault prevention month, we actually want to introduce legislation," Luna told Fox News Digital in a phone interview this week.

Called the "No Repeat Child Sex Offenders Act," the bill would amend a U.S. code that states anyone who "knowingly transports any individual in interstate or foreign commerce" to engage in prostitution or sexual activity "shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both."

The bill would strike the language that an offender be "imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both," and replace it with stronger penalties: "and punished by death or imprisoned for life."

"It's absurd to me, not only as a new mom, but also if you just look at some of the federal statutes, that there's not more strict punishments for people that are doing this," Luna said.

The Florida congresswoman added that she, similar to others across the nation, believe child predators cannot be rehabilitated, and would reoffend when back on the streets.

"I have the firm belief, which I think many of my colleagues also hold, that you can't rehabilitate a predator. And so we have to increase the federal minimums. And as you see, it's pretty simple text. It's maybe a page and a half, but it will increase the federal minimums to death penalty or life in prison," Luna said.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which works to reduce the likelihood of sexual abuse. Luna said that in addition to her bill raising the federal minimum for abusers of children, she’s also introducing a bill that would increase the federal minimums for rape to 30 years, as well as another bill that increases the penalties for those in possession of child pornography.

"I am also introducing a bill this week regarding rape. It is absurd that rapists can get off after a few years of ‘good’ behavior after destroying lives. I will also be asking to increase the federal minimum," Luna posted on X on Saturday.

Luna’s bills come as some states and cities, such as in California or New York, have seen an increase in prostitution in broad daylight on bustling streets. Experts have previously told Fox News Digital that the immigration crisis and lax laws have likely caused the spike in brazen prostitution, which also often includes human trafficking and the trafficking of children. Luna said her bill raising the penalties against child sexual assault includes so-called "Johns" who hire underage girls.

"Anyone who is even going to consider exploiting someone like this – and you can't tell me that they don't know that these people are trafficked or that they don't know that that's a young child – but the fact is, is that, if you're knowingly doing this, you have to be held accountable," she said.

"It's pretty black and white," she said.

Luna compared rape to murder, saying the assault of a child destroys the victim's life, as well as the lives of family members. She’s hopeful Democrats will join her in passing the bill, calling it a nonpartisan effort, though some Democrats might not agree with the legislation due to opposition to the death penalty.

"I think that this does speak to a deeper issue, in that, whether it's issues of rape or molestation that, you know, it destroys people's lives, and it's something that they carry with them for the rest of the time that they're adults. And so it can impact people, and we should be thinking of this very seriously," she said.

Luna will introduce the bills Thursday in the House.

"I think that if you're really about protecting children… you have to have strict laws. And that's exactly why we've introduced it."

Russia launches terrorism probe into US and NATO officials

Moscow is following a trail from last month’s Crocus City Hall attack

Intelligence agencies and law enforcement are looking at certain Western government officials as part of an investigation into the funding of terrorist attacks such as the massacre at Crocus City Hall and the bombing of the Nord Stream pipelines, the Russian Investigative Committee announced on Tuesday.

The probe was launched after a referral by several Russian lawmakers, which accused the US and its allies of organizing the March 22 attack on the Moscow concert venue.

Investigators are currently looking at the potentialinvolvement of “specific individuals from among government officials, people with civic and commercial organizations of Western countries,” said committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko.

It has already been established that funding for terrorist attacks inside Russia has been funneled through Ukrainian companies, including the notorious Burisma Holdings – former employers of US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter – Petrenko added.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia has also said it would follow theevidence leading to “persons and structures located in the US, Germany, France and Cyprus.”

In addition to last month’s Crocus City Hall attack, the investigation is looking at other terrorist acts, including the assassinations of prominent public figures and the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in international waters.

Investigators are establishing the connections between the direct perpetrators of terrorist acts and “foreign curators, organizers and sponsors,” Petrenko added.

GM's Cruise to relaunch vehicles with human drivers in Phoenix

General Motors' Cruise self-driving vehicle unit will redeploy cars on U.S. roadways Tuesday for the first time since October, beginning with a small fleet of human-driven vehicles in Phoenix, the company said.

The relaunch comes after the company ceased operations weeks after an Oct. 2 accident in which a pedestrian in San Francisco was dragged 20 feet by a Cruise robotaxi after being struck by a separate vehicle.

The redeployed vehicles will not operate as they previously did — as robotaxis — but will "create maps and gather road information in select cities, starting in Phoenix," the company said.

Cruise said its "goal is to resume driverless operations," however it did not provide a timeline for doing so. It also did not announce a timetable for expanding human-driven vehicles to other cities.

"We have not yet made a commitment to where or when we will start supervised or driverless operations," a spokesperson said in a statement to CNBC.

Still, the company called the relaunched fleet with human drivers "a critical step for validating our self-driving systems as we work towards returning to our driverless mission."

"In October 2023, we paused operations of our fleet to focus on rebuilding trust with regulators and the communities we serve, and to redesign our approach to safety," Cruise said in a blog post. "We've made significant progress, guided by new company leadership, recommendations from third-party experts, and a focus on a close partnership with the communities in which our vehicles operate. We are committed to this improvement as a continuous effort."

A third-party probe into the October incident and subsequent fallout, which was ordered by GM and Cruise, found culture issues, ineptitude and poor leadership were at the center of regulatory oversights that led to the accident. The probe also investigated allegations of a coverup by Cruise leadership, but did not find any evidence to support those claims.

Cruise said in January that it "accepts" the conclusions found in the report. The San Francisco-based company, of which GM owns about 80%, said it will "act on all" recommendations and is "fully cooperating" with investigations by state and federal agencies following the Oct. 2 accident.

The company said in January that investigations or inquiries into the incident included those by the California DMV, the California Public Utilities Commission, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Prior to the accident, Cruise was planning an aggressive expansion of robotaxis outside its home market where the majority of its vehicles operated.

In addition to the ceasing of operations, Cruise leadership has been gutted: Its co-founders, including CEO and co-founder Kyle Vogt, resigned and nine other leaders were ousted. The venture also laid off 24% of its workforce as well as a round of contractors.

A recent bust of a so-called stash house, where human traffickers hide and warehouse illegal immigrants as they are being snuck into the US, offers a rare glimpse into how migrants get from the US-Mexico border to cities as far away as Chicago and New York while staying in the shadows.

Texas state troopers were tipped off to a house in Fort Worth that was being used as a stash house Friday, Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland told DailyMail.com.

Inside, cops found five illegal immigrants, an altar to the Santa Muerte and a tunnel were migrants, and possibly drugs, could be easily hidden.

'We always associate stash houses with the border, but they're all over the US,' Cleveland, a retired Border Patrol agent and sheriff of Sanderson, Texas, explained.

'We have information other migrants being smuggled by this same group had already made it to Georgia.'

Santa Muerte, the female personifcation of death has been denounced by the Catholic Church, forbids her worship as blasphemous. However, cult-like followers have been growing in recent years, including within the drug cartel community.

Members of drug cartels are known to venerate her, asking for her protection in their criminal exploits, and leaving offerings to her, including cash, food and flowers. In the Fort Worth stash house, apples, flowers, a bottle of tequila and cigarettes had been offered to her.

U.S. Transfers Seized Iranian Weapons to Ukraine

The U.S. Government has transferred a substantial quantity of seized Iranian munitions to the Ukrainian armed forces to aid in their battle against Russia’s invasion.

The transfer to Ukraine took place on April 4, 2024 and included over 5,000 AK-47s, machine guns, sniper rifles, RPG-7s, and half a million rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The amount is sufficient to equip an entire Ukrainian Brigade with small arms rifles.

The U.S. government acquired the munitions on December 1, 2023, via the Department of Justice’s civil forfeiture claims against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

U.S. Central Command and allied naval forces seized the weaponry from four unregistered vessels in international waters between May 2021 and February 2023. The IRGC was illegally transferring these munitions to Houthi terrorist forces in Yemen, in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216.

Since 2014, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) has been arming and training the Houthis, which has enabled them to launch missile and UAV strikes against commercial shipping in the Red Sea since November 2023, threatening international commerce and freedom of navigation through the critical waterway.

Between 2015 and 2023, the U.S. and its allies intercepted at least 18 Iranian smuggling vessels, seizing illegal weaponry including ballistic missile components, UAVs, antitank guided missiles, and thousands of assault rifles and rocket components destined for the Houthis.

“U.S. CENTCOM is committed to working with our allies and partners to counter the flow of Iranian lethal aid in the region by all lawful means including U.S. and U.N. sanctions and through interdictions,” CENTCOM said in a statement.

“Iran’s support for armed groups threatens international and regional security, our forces, diplomatic personnel, and citizens in the region, as well as those of our partners. We will continue to do whatever we can to shed light on and stop Iran’s destabilizing activities.”

“Over the past forty years, America’s maritime shipbuilding capabilities and capacity have atrophied,” said Del Toro. “The consequences for naval shipbuilding have been manifesting for years and will grow ever more acute unless we reverse the underinvestment, both private and public, in modernization and industrial capacity.”

The Secretary emphasized that, while the U.S. constructs the most capable warships in the world, the shipyards where they are built are “decades behind the global technological standard.”

“This is an inefficient approach requiring far too much time, workforce, and taxpayers’ dollars,” he said.

Secretary Del Toro also noted that U.S. allies like South Korea and Japan can build high-quality ships, including AEGIS destroyers, both at a fraction of the cost and on time and budget.

“When my team and I went to South Korea, we were floored at the level of digitization and real-time monitoring of shipbuilding progress, with readily available information down to individual pieces of stock materials,” said Del Toro, referring to his recent trip to tour South Korea’s biggest shipyards. “Their top executives could tell us–to the day–when ships would be delivered,” he said.

In the U.S., many of the Navy’s top shipbuilding programs are running years behind schedule and over budget, according to a recent internal review.

Del Toro sees current challenges as an opportunity to partner with more U.S. and international shipbuilders. He suggests attracting advanced shipbuilders to open U.S.-owned subsidiaries and invest in domestic commercial shipyards, which could help to modernize and expand the shipbuilding industry, create well-paying “new-collar” jobs, and foster a healthier, more competitive workforce.

“Let’s be clear–I want American industry to thrive. As a business owner for almost two decades, I understand your perspective. I am pushing our shipbuilding industry to invest in itself to get better, to be technological leaders, and to once again deliver platforms on-time and on-budget,” he said.

To address some of the challenges facing the industry, the Secretary said he has tasked the new Office of Strategic Assessment (OSA) to explore opportunities for improvement identified in a recent 45 Day Comprehensive Shipbuilding Review, ordered in January as part of his new ‘Maritime Statecraft’ strategy, and to develop innovative approaches for more effective ship procurement.

“I created OSA just for this kind of purpose—to provide data-driven assessments and recommendations that will help drive smart choices for our Department,” he said.

The Secretary concluded by stressing the importance of a creating “a steady demand signal to the industry” and prioritizing the increase of industrial capacity to meet global challenges.

“The maritime battlespace is ever-changing and demands constant adaptation and innovation from all of us. We must continue to foster a culture of open communication, unyielding collaboration, transparency, and trust to find creative solutions to the complex problem-set which lay ahead of us,” he said.
