Ford heir Alfred Ford building largest Vedic temple to fulfill 500-year-plus prophecy

This great-grandson of Henry Ford is funding a massive, multimillion-dollar religious monument under construction in India that devotees of the Hare Krishna movement say will fulfill a more than 500-year-old prophecy.

Alfred Ford — son of Josephine Clay Ford and Walter Buhl Ford II of the banking Fords — is chairman of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, a blue-and-gold-dome-topped temple being built in east India's Mayapur, roughly three hours north of Kolkata. It'll be the largest Vedic temple in the world honoring a collection of Sanskrit literature that are the oldest scriptures in Hinduism.

'Rust' star Alec Baldwin's lawyers argue for judge to dismiss involuntary manslaughter charge

Alec Baldwin's legal team appeared at a virtual hearing to argue against criminal charges for the Hollywood star in connection with the fatal "Rust" movie set shooting that left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and wounded director Joel Souza.

Baldwin was indicted on two counts — involuntary manslaughter, negligent use of a firearm, or, in the alternative, involuntary manslaughter without due caution or circumspection — on Jan. 19. He was not required to show up for the hearing Friday.

Hutchins died Oct. 21, 2021 after Baldwin aimed the gun at her during a scene rehearsal. It was not supposed to be loaded with a live round – but it was.

Summary

Congress’s contempt power is the means by which Congress responds to certain acts that in its

view obstruct the legislative process. Contempt may be used either to coerce compliance, to

punish the contemnor, and/or to remove the obstruction. Although arguably any action that

directly obstructs the effort of Congress to exercise its constitutional powers may constitute a

contempt, in recent times the contempt power has most often been employed in response to noncompliance with a duly issued congressional subpoena—whether in the form of a refusal to

appear before a committee for purposes of providing testimony, or a refusal to produce requested

documents.
