Who's there to honor them? FDR had that clause null n voided before WW2, so no window at Treasury for that. When FDR had it declared it was illegal for private ownership of gold, didn't matter what was printed on the fiat. There was no place legal to redeem it for ozs.

Look up how the real estate bubble of 1926-28 settled out and what it did to "banks" and record keeping. The Home Loan Banks were set up to clear the frozen credit markets due to lost records when the bank records were usually burned in the front yard of both the failed banks AND homeowners. That's when your "looting" took place, with the collapse of credit that started in 1926, which then translated to the 10% down margining, if actually monitored, in the stock market at that time.
Know your credit history, not just follow the rulez on gold, as Credit Control is much more powerful and wide reaching. 2006-8 was peanuts compared to what 1926-28 started, institutionally.
