Soros-Backed Media Matters Lays Off a Dozen Employees as Staffers Blame ‘Far-Right Billionaires’

by Ben Kew May. 23, 2024

The far-left media watchdog Media Matters for America (MMFA) is laying off around a dozen staff as the organization faces a series of federal probes and defamation lawsuits.

MMFA’s explicit goal is to try and “expose” conservative media organizations such as The Gateway Pundit and strip them of their platforms and advertising revenue.

Staffers took to the X platform on Thursday to confirm they had been let go, with one seemingly blaming Musk for her dismissal.

“Bad News: I’ve been laid off from @mmfa, along with a dozen colleagues. There’s a reason far-right billionaires attack Media Matters with armies of lawyers: They know how effective our work is, and it terrifies them (him),” wrote employee Kat Abughazaleh in an obvious reference to Musk.

“After nearly four years of working at media matters, I got laid off,” added another staffer. “So if anyone is looking for researchers with video experience, drop a line.”

“Got laid off, lmk who wants research done,” added researcher Brendan Karet. “On the plus side, no more listening to the dumbest dogshit on earth everyday.”

“Journalism milestone achieved (got laid off),” wrote former writer Bobby Lewis.

Jared Holt, a prominent left-wing researcher, urged other organizations to scoop up those who had been let go.

Although there is no evidence the layoffs are directly linked to Elon Musk or the ongoing investigations, one can safely assume that they have not helped the organization’s financial position.

Last November, Musk filed a defamation lawsuit against MMFA in federal court in November, accusing them of manipulating images to show advertisements from major corporations alongside posts from white supremacists and neo-Nazis.

Meanwhile, the Missouri Attorney General filed a separate lawsuit last December for engaging in fraudulent business practices and refusing to cooperate with an ongoing investigation.

Kind like cutting down trees to build windfarms, then no extra cables to deliver the power so pay for the turbines to be shut off

SNP cuts down millions of trees to build wind farms on public land in huge blow to environmental credentials

The Scottish Government confirmed that it had greenlit plans to chop down millions of trees since 2000 in order to build massive turbines for renewable energy.

By David Walker Politics reporter 20 JUL 2023

The SNP has been slated after it was revealed Ministers rubber-stamped plans to cut down almost 16 million trees to build wind farms on public land. The revelation came despite the nationalist party boasting about its green credentials, and being involved in a coalition with the Scottish Greens.

Mairi Gougeon, the Scottish Government's Rural Affairs Secretary, admitted that they had felled millions of trees in order to build more turbines. It forms part of the SNP administration's plans to make Scotland net zero over the next decade.

But this confession was labelled "astonishing" by the Scottish Tories who highlighted the "significant damage" that getting rid of woodland can do to the wildlife. It was estimated that 15.7 million trees had been felled since 2000.

This was done on publicly-owned land which is managed by quango Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and is the equivalent of 1,700 per day. According to the Daily Telegraph, Ms Gougeon insisted that there was a planning presumption in favour of protecting woodland, despite the amount being chopped down.

'Staggering' wind farm switch-offs cost energy customers nearly £1bn

By Martin Williams 2nd October 2022

PAYMENTS to energy firms to switch off mainly Scottish wind farm turbines because they produce too much power have cost bill-payers approaching £1bn in just over five years and are expected to soar to £500m a year.

It has emerged that households who are seeing a doubling of energy bills since last winter are set to face further pain by the "absurd" constraint payments system which is predicted to dole out record amounts in the next four years.
