The witnesses have the power to shut the sky that no rain may fall while they prophesy and they have the power to turn the waters to blood and strike the earth with plague. The one who was able to shut the sky was Elijah (1 Kings 17:1) and the one who brought the plagues was Moses (Exodus 7:17-21).

Who are the two witnesses? They are the two lamp stands, the two candles, the two surviving churches, the two olive trees, who work with the power of Elijah.
