BREAKING: Shots Fired Near Trump Golf Club, President Present But ‘Safe.’
Shots were fired in the vicinity of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on Sunday afternoon asPresident Trump was golfing. The Trump campaign confirmed the incident, reporting only that “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity.
"UPDATE: 3:25PM EST –Secret Service agents are believed to have spotted a shooter in a tree line, returning fire, before the suspect fled. President Trump is believed to have been the target, with media sources also suggesting thegunman had a backpack, a rifle, and a GoPro video camera.
Campaign spokesman Steven Cheung added: “No further details at this time,” while the U.S. Secret Service confirmed the incident, stating: “The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The former president is safe. @pbso will have more details soon.”
