Over half of the names reportedly inscribed on the memorial, which has yet to be installed, could have to be removed

Canadian authorities could have to remove more than half of the names inscribed on a memorial to the victims of communism planned for the country's capital, Ottawa, due to concerns that over half have Nazi links, local media reported on Monday.

According to a document obtained by the Ottawa Citizen, the Department of Canadian Heritage found that out of the 553 people and organizations to be originally listed, 50 to 60 were “were likely directly linked to the Nazis.”

A 2023 report for Canadian Heritage insisted that over 330 names be excluded from the list “to be on the safe side,” as there was not enough information to confirm or deny Nazi links. It was instead proposed to remove other names because of there being no direct link to Canada, the outlet said.

The monument was originally scheduled to be unveiled in November 2023, but the ceremony was delayed due to concerns that WWII Nazi collaborators were listed on the monument. TikTok user @megsnbacn claimed that the chopper flew in just after 7 p.m. while she was conducting a K9 Security round. She stated that the helicopter did not belong to any of them and was unmarked, which is illegal.

She also stated that 45 minutes before the aircraft arrived, two unidentified SUVs showed up, did a “slow roll” at the entrance of the parking lot, and fled the area. The SUVs, too, did not belong to the volunteers.

Federal malpractice watchdog overwhelmed with complaints, seeks more funding

Canada’s public service integrity watchdog has asked the federal government to double its budget, funding it says is necessary to keep up with the growing number of tips it receives about departmental wrongdoings and mismanagement.

The agency is requesting an immediate sum of $1.3 million and wants to see its annual budget double, asking for an additional $7.6 million per year until 2028-29, followed by a permanent increase of $7.2 million from then onward.

Public Sector Integrity Commissioner Harriet Solloway called the situation a “crisis” that could undermine her office’s mandate, which is to investigate malpractice in the federal public sector and protect whistleblowers after coming forward.

According to Solloway, the lack of funding has resulted in delays in investigating new cases,. which could last up to three years.

However, she argues that more funding could alleviate the backlog.

“If we don’t get to the investigations, we can’t get to the conclusions and we can’t make recommendations,” Solloway told CBC News. “If there are things that are amiss, they will continue to fester and probably get worse rather than improve.” Continue…

A Canadian university wants to fill 75% of its new medical school with race and sexual orientation of candidates in mind – barring people from non “equity-deserving” groups from accessing a majority of the admission offers.

On social media, some have accused the Toronto Metropolitan University’s application policy for entry into its medical program of openly discriminating against people based on identifiable differences such as race and sexual orientation.

TMU’s selection process for the 2025 intake of its medical program states that 75% of the 94 seats the program offers are expected to be taken from either the school’s Indigenous, Black or other “equity-deserving” admissions pathways.

“Our admissions pathways are designed to account for systemic bias in applicant review processes and eliminate barriers to success for these groups in the medical school admissions process,” Dr. Dominick Shelton, interim assistant dean of recruitment and admissions, said on the school website. “We are also committed to ensuring that the pathways provide an inclusive and supportive process for applicants from these groups.”

The standard for undergraduate programs is that applicants must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.3 to be considered for admission, and this is still the case for students applying in the general admissions stream.

For applicants applying through the new admissions pathways, however, those who are Indigenous, Black or from “equity-deserving” groups may not need to meet the same standard of success as those in the general admissions stream.

“In exceptional circumstances, applicants in the three admissions pathways (Indigenous, Black, and Equity-Deserving) with a GPA below the minimum requirement of 3.3 may have their application considered for admission by the relevant pathway subcommittee,” it said.

Under each of the diversity, equity and inclusion pathways to the program, applicants are required to write a 500- 1000-word essay about their identity as members of the desired groups. Continue…

Canadian medical freedom fighter Dr. Mark Trozzi passionately appealed his legal case before a court on Tuesday with the help of his lawyer. The outcome will determine whether he regains his right to practice medicine again after it was taken away because he spoke out against COVID shots.

Trozzi told LifeSiteNews he is “optimistic” about the outcome, noting that the judge seemed interested to find the underlying cause of accusations made against him by his medical regulator, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

“I think the judge was pretty curious to dig into the science files which they (CPSO) ignored and see why I accused them of these things. They are counting on the judge to just think I am nuts and punish me for strong words,” Trozzi told LifeSiteNews after his hearing.

During the hearing, the CPSO had its lawyers go over their reasons for stripping Trozzi of his medical license earlier in the year.

His appeal case was heard by the Ontario Divisional Court (ODC). The banned doctor is hopeful he will be successful in having a decision overturned by the CPSO, which stripped him of his medical license earlier this year because he spoke out against COVID jabs and mandates.

According to federal prosecutors, Tawhedi said he purchased two kalashnikov rifles and ordered 500 bullets.

“What do you think, brother? Is it enough or should we increase it,” the Telegram message said, according to CBS News.

“In subsequent messages, Tawhedi said his father-in-law’s house had sold for $185,000, and they would receive the funds by Oct. 15. He also asked for help in resettling his family, which included his mother in law, wife, their young daughter, and five of his wife’s siblings, in Afghanistan. Tawhedi purchased one-way plane tickets for the family to travel to Kabul on Oct. 17,” CBS News reported.

“After that we will begin our duty, God willing, with the help of God, we will get ready for the election day,” Tawhedi wrote.

The incident occurred Sunday in North Carolina, at a Burnsville parking lot where aid for storm victims was being staged.

Video from multiple angles shows the all-black helicopter seemingly circling the area before hovering low over the lot, scattering tents and volunteers’ other unsecured items.

Some people touched on conspiracies during and after the incident, calling the helicopter “unmarked” and reporting mysterious black SUVs that appeared and disappeared less than an hour before the helicopter’s arrival.

Turkish Airlines confirmed Capt. İlçehin Pehlivan, 59, died before the plane landed after medical intervention failed to resuscitate him.

The pilot was in perfect health and had his last health examination in August.

“Having worked at Turkish Airlines since 2007, İlçehin PEHLİVAN was 59 years old. A periodic health examination was carried out on 08.03.2024 at the Aviation Medical Center authorized by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, and no health problem was detected that would prevent him from working,” Turkish Airline’s senior vice president of media relations said on X. The “carbon footprint tracker” we are told is going to tackle the alleged “climate crisis.”

The British multinational bank’s system monitors customers’ spending and scolds customers when they buy meat and dairy products.

The tracker issues alerts that warn customers their food purchases are causing “climate change.”

As part of NatWest’s smartphone banking app, users receive messages when they are caught buying traditionally farmed produce.

They are also urged to “swap out” items such as beef and milk with “alternatives” such as “non-dairy” or “plant-based” products.

The app pressures customers to take part in “veggie Mondays” and warns they should be “choosing (mostly) plant-based” diets to fight “global warming” by reducing their so-called greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The alert messages also recommend eating “vegetarian at home” to reduce your “carbon footprint” by 40kg.

She described that the UN and Western leaders remain hopeful "that Israel too will now be ready to add its support to the many calls and appeals that are out there" for de-escalation and potential ceasefire.

Another official, Imran Riza, who is UN’s humanitarian coordinator described that Lebanon is facing "one of the deadliest periods" given that 600,000 civilians are internally displaced. Jewish community members and groups are asking for an apology from the Mayor of Toronto after she was noticeably absent at a community-led vigil to honour the victims of the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel.

In an interview on Wednesday’s radio show on NewsTalk1010, Chow said she “really regrets” not “being able” to be at the vigil, claiming her office did not receive an invitation.

An online petition with nearly 2000signatures calls for Chow’s immediate resignation. Several voices online are also calling for Chow’s staff who may be responsible for the mayor not receiving the invitation, to be held accountable as well.

John Moore, the host of NewsTalk1010, said that she should have reached out even if Chow hadn’t received the invitation, knowing what an important day of mourning Oct. 7 was for the Jewish community.

“I wanted to mourn with the Jewish community of the tragic loss of lives and the horrific things that Hamas did,” Chow said. “My office said, and they even went to the IT staff (searching) in the inbox. They didn’t find (the invitation to the event), etc. I was wondering whether it got spammed, and anyway, it doesn’t matter. You’re absolutely right. I should have been there.”

Two brothers United States authorities had convicted for skirting sanctions on Iran by exporting restricted materials back to their home country managed to legally resettle in Canada after their sentencing with new identities.

According to documents obtained by Global News, Iranian brothers Amin and Arash Yousefijam were sentenced for using shell companies to illegally export sensitive manufacturing equipment back to their home country of Iran, while living in Michigan in 2021.

Beginning in 2015, the two brothers and a third conspirator in Iran operated a shell company, Austin General Trading, to conduct what is known as a “cross-stuffing” scheme.

They would purchase and export restricted materials from U.S. manufacturers, hiding that Iran was the real destination of the exports and using banks located in foreign countries.

The contents would first be transported to the United Arab Emirates where they would be moved from their original containers and then illicitly re-shipped to Iran, a ploy referred to as transshipping.

Following their conviction, they returned to Ontario where they had lived previously. Upon arriving, the two applied to have their names changed to Ameen and Aurash Cohen.

A request that was ultimately granted by the Ontario government in April 2022.

According to government records, during the time of their application, both were still serving out the remainder of their sentences, which included a supervised period of one year following their release as well as a form of parole. Continue…

The party’s announcement came Wednesday afternoon, and the UCP posted a video statement by Johnson on X announcing her return.

The 2023 election result for the Alberta MLA’s riding of Lacombe—Ponoka saw her garner 67.57% of the vote, followed by Dave Dale, the runner-up NDP MLA, who received 23.56% of the vote.

“Today, I want to take a moment to address a serious matter. Prior to being elected, I used an inappropriate analogy while discussing education policy surrounding trans youth, and for that, I sincerely apologize,” said Johnson. “I want all children working through gender identity issues to know that you are cared for, valued and respected.”

Atlantic Canadians are stepping up to help those in Florida following Hurricane Helen, a major storm that haemorrhaged the state, and ahead of Hurricane Milton, which is poised to hit the sunshine state on Thursday.

Several electrical crews from Nova Scotia Power embarked on the drive south, starting through Maine down to Florida to join around 20 other crews from other states commuting from California to Minnesota to Tampa after “receiving the call only 24 hours ago.”

“Nova Scotians are no strangers to the devastating impacts of these kinds of weather events. We are so proud of our colleagues who stand ready to help our American neighbours. Stay safe out there,” the company wrote, as the province has dealt with seven hurricanes since 2020.

The company is sending 35 electricians ahead of the hurricane to wait out the storm at the Georgia border, so that they can fix power lines, restoring people’s electricity after the damage is done.

Nova Scotia Power senior director of energy delivery Matt Drover told CBC News that the call came to the company directly from other electrical companies in the state.

“Our crews will really be focused on taking direction from the power companies, where to go, who to help out, and how to get power back on as quickly as we can,” he said. Continue…

I appeal for its abolition in all countries of the world. We must not forget that a person can repent and change, even up until the very last moment of their life.”

In contrast with the Pope’s description of the death penalty as “inadmissible” and an attack on the “dignity of the person,” the Catholic Church has always taught – through the Magisterium, popes, saints, theologians, and scholars – that the state reserves the right, in natural law and according to Sacred Scripture (Gen 9:6), to execute criminals.

In 1955 Pope Pius XII defended the authority of the state to punish crimes, including with the death penalty. Toronto Dominion (TD) Bank pleaded guilty Thursday for its failure to regulate money laundering by drug cartels selling lethal fentanyl to Americans. Admitting its guilt in the criminal case brought by the Department of Justice (DOJ) means the transnational financial institution has to pay $3 billion in fines and other penalties to the DOJ.

TD, which is now the tenth largest American bank after expanding from Canada, has also accepted parameters on how large it can grow, CNBC reported. The total assets that TD can hold as a US bank will be no more than $434 billion.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said the bank will have to be subject to monitoring over the next three years to ensure the bank is following strict anti-money-laundering protocol. The parliamentary committee probing the Jasper wildfire response are uncovering shocking new revelations which shift the blame on Parks Canada and the federal government.

According to new testimony, a private fire fighting crew with over 50 trucks and 20 fire fighters was turned around by Parks Canada while the fire raged in July. This on top of allegations from former Parks Canada staff about fire prevention incompetence is turning up the heat and the pressure on Trudeau’s environment minister Steven Guilbeault.

Of course, no amount of evidence could the Trudeau government that the Jasper Wildfire could have been started by anything other than climate change.
