JUST IN: Coast Guard Reevaluating Polar Security Cutter Schedule

By Allyson Park 3/20/2024

After delays and design complications, the Coast Guard did not request any additional funding for the Polar Security Cutter icebreaker program in its fiscal year 2025 budget request.

The Coast Guard is currently working with the shipbuilder, Bollinger Shipyards, to “rebaseline,” which will result in a new program schedule that is expected to be completed “later this year and will be critical to informing future budget requests,” a service spokesperson wrote in an email.

Though the future of the icebreaker program is “unchanged” and remains the service’s “top acquisition priority” along with the Offshore Patrol Cutter, no additional funding is allocated in the fiscal year 2025 budget request for the further development and acquisition of the Polar Security Cutter, a service spokesperson told National Defense.

The Coast Guard has received “sufficient funding” in prior year appropriations to continue the icebreaker’s acquisition in the interim, the spokesperson said.

The service initiated the icebreaker program in 2016 — in partnership with the Navy — to design and procure three heavy polar icebreakers to address the nation’s requirements in the Arctic and Antarctic and replace Coast Guard’s two aging icebreakers, the CGC Polar Star and the CGC Healy.

The Coast Guard initially planned to invest “at least $11.6 billion for acquisition, operations, and maintenance of these cutters,” the Government Accountability Office said in a July 2023 report, “Coast Guard Acquisitions: Polar Security Cutter Needs to Stabilize Design Before Starting Construction and Improve Oversight.”

GAO stated that the Coast Guard has a lot of design work to complete for the Polar Security Cutter before starting construction in 2024. The design of the cutter is not yet fully complete, leading to an “extended design phase and [contributing] to a three-year schedule delay in the shipyard,” according to the report.

The final Polar Security Cutter design was expected in March 2024 at the earliest, pushing the estimated delivery date of the first hull in 2028, which is three years later than the original date, the report stated.

However, the reevaluation of the program means that the entire program schedule will be revamped, and that schedule will not be made available until later this year, the service said.

Ashton Kutcher in Panic Over Ties to Diddy — Fears Disgraced Mogul Will Turn on Famous Friends in Hollywood to Save Himself

by Jim Hᴏft Oct. 3, 2024

Ashton Kutcher, former star of the Fox sitcom That ’70s Show, is reportedly in a state of panic over his previous friendship with disgraced music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

The Daily Mail reported that Kutcher, who was actively involved in combating child trafficking and sexual exploitation through his organization, is fearful that Combs—now facing serious charges—could potentially drag down his famous friends to save himself from the legal quagmire he’s facing.

Combs, 54, is currently held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center on charges ranging from sex trafficking to racketeering and prostitution-related offenses. He stands accused of running a “criminal enterprise” through his business empire, engaging in illicit activities that span over a decade. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

On Tuesday, Sean “Diddy” Combs faced a wave of legal challenges as attorney Tony Buzbee announced plans to file 120 new sexual assault lawsuits against the music mogul.

Buzbee hinted at an even larger web of individuals and corporations tied to the case, explaining that Combs allegedly had enablers in various industries. “The names will shock you,” Buzbee stated at the press conference, alluding to well-known financial institutions and Big Pharma companies that may have facilitated or profited from this horrific culture of exploitation.

The charges against Combs come as a bombshell to Hollywood’s elite circle, but Kutcher—who had been friends with the rap star for nearly 20 years—appears to be particularly shaken.

Sources close to Kutcher reveal that the actor now deeply regrets his friendship with the scandal-ridden mogul, and he is bracing for the worst.

"Ashton absolutely regrets his friendship with Diddy considering what has happened," one insider disclosed to Daily Mail. "He feels lied to, betrayed, taken for granted, and manipulated."

The source continued, "He feels the same way about Danny Masterson. He now trusts no one except for his wife Mila [Kunis]. He is going to keep his circle to his family."

Kutcher’s anxiety is understandable given his recent controversy over his character letters supporting former co-star Danny Masterson, who was convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Public backlash from that incident forced Kutcher to step down from his anti-child sex abuse organization and issue a public apology alongside his wife, Mila Kunis. Now, he faces the possibility of being pulled into the investigation surrounding Combs, a situation he’s reportedly desperate to avoid.

"Ashton does have fears about how this investigation will play out," the source revealed. "He knows that Diddy could easily lie or throw anyone under the bus to save himself, including his famous friends. Ashton is preparing for the possibility that he could be subpoenaed, despite wanting no involvement."

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Diddy can't wait to testify to defend himself, according to his lawyer.

“He’s looking forward to it,” Agnifilo said in the new TMZ documentary, “The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment.“

“It’s a story of love, hurt, and heartbreak, and Diddy can’t wait to tell it to the jury," he added.

BREAKING: Federal Judge Blocks California Governor Newsom’s “Deepfakes” Law That Ignited Fight with Elon Musk

by Cristina Laila Oct. 2, 2024

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked California Governor Gavin Newsom’s “deepfakes” law that ignited a fight with Elon Musk.

Last month Newsom signed into law a bill that made it illegal to ‘knowingly distribute an ad or other election communications that contain materially deceptive content, including deepfakes.’

Elon Musk trolled Gavin Newsom and encouraged X users to share a Kamala Harris parody campaign ad.

“The governor of California just made this parody video illegal in violation of the Constitution of the United States,” Elon Musk said.

“Would be a shame if it went viral,” he said.

Gavin Newsom then threatened Elon Musk.

“I think Mr. Musk missed the punchline. Parody is still alive and well in California but deepfakes and manipulation of elections that hurts democracy and integrity of the system and trust and we believe in truth and trust and we think this law is sound and will be upheld in courts,” Newsom said on Thursday to reporters.

Newsom threatened Musk: “The law asserts that many can seek injunction relief and I just signed the law, I just signed 32 other bills on housing and I haven’t had a chance to review the specific lawsuit around a conservative blogger that seems offended by our law.”

Newsom was referring to the court’s ability to stop distribution of the content and impost civil penalties.

Chris Kohls, the creator of the Kamala Harris parody video sued Gavin Newsom and argued his content was protected by the First Amendment.

US District Judge John A. Mendez, a George W. Bush appointee agreed with Chris Kohls and blocked Newsom’s law.

Politico reported:

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked a California measure restricting the use of digitally altered political “deepfakes” just two weeks after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the bill into law.

The ruling is a blow to a push by the state’s leading Democrats to rein in misleading content on social media ahead of Election Day.

Chris Kohls, known as “Mr Reagan” on X, sued to prevent the state from enforcing the law after posting an AI-generated video of a Harris campaign ad on the social media site. He claimed the video was protected by the First Amendment because it was a parody.

The judge agreed.

“Most of [the law] acts as a hammer instead of a scalpel,” Senior U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez wrote, calling it “a blunt tool hinders humorous expression and unconstitutionally stifles the free and unfettered exchange of ideas.” He carved out an exception for a “not unduly burdensome” portion of the law that requires verbal disclosure of digitally altered content in audio-only recordings.

WHO Expert Calls for Smartphones to Be Controlled Like Tobacco Products

by Anthony Scott Oct. 2, 2024

A leading World Health Organization expert has called for smartphones to be regulated like tobacco products.

During the European Health Forum in Gastein, Austria, World Health Organization’s Natasha Azzopardi Muscat told Politico that countries should start regulating smartphone usage as they regulate tobacco products.

WHO Director of Country Health Policies and Systems Natasha Azzopardi Muscat stated that countries should begin regulating smartphones like tobacco products, such as setting age limits, controlling prices, and forming “no-go zones.”

Azzopardi stated, “Maybe we need to think about where it is appropriate to use digital devices, and maybe it’s also time to start thinking about places where certain digital devices should not be used.”

Some states in the United States have already created “no-go zones” for children using smartphones.

Democrat Governor of California Gavin Newsom recently signed the “The Phone-Free School Act,” which restricts students from using cellphones in classrooms and campuses.

Per Politico:

Countries should consider regulating digital devices like smartphones in a similar way to tobacco products, to combat social media’s rising negative impact on young people’s mental health, the World Health Organization’s Natasha Azzopardi Muscat said.

With increasing evidence that problematic gaming and social media behavior is on the rise among adolescents in Europe, countries should take inspiration from other areas of public health where legislation has helped address potentially damaging habits — such as tobacco laws, she said.

Measures including age limits, controlled prices and even no-go zones worked for regulating tobacco, so they could be taken as an example for how to curb damaging use of handheld devices like smartphones, Azzopardi Muscat, director of country health policies and systems at WHO Europe, told POLITICO on the sidelines of the European Health Forum, in Gastein, Austria.

I remember anons talking about this stuff two years ago. The think tanks expect about half of Active Duty to refuse to engage citizens and possibly turn on the officers that ordered it.

Now, only months ago there was the nice data that current Active Duty, Reserves, NG and about every warm body they can get comes out to 2.1 million total. Consider how many are deployed on ships, or forward deployed like USMC on Okinawa. Political appointees and racial quota promotions throughout out all branches.

Versus

21.6 million veterans total. Yeah, WW2 & Korea prolly not much help but let's see: Hue City during Vietnam added to Mosul, Fallujah, Tikrit vets that can go room to room. I did Security Force on my last ship so we trained for room to room as well, but they are called compartments and everything is made from steel so fire discipline is really important. Urban combat covered.

No vets take the field, and might invite some hunters along. No Rules of Engagement except likely "leave no enemy wounded alive to rise behind you later" so Laws of Warfare and Geneva Conventions that let's be honest get disobeyed will not even be considered. Knock down drag out brawl with Winner Take All.

If I was pulling Sentry over armor or artillery parks I'd be real nervous.
