A Salt Lake man, Nicholas Frank Sciotto, 34, was sentenced to a year in prison after selling over 120,000 fake COVID-19 vaccination record cards during the pandemic.
Sciotto, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the U.S., also faces a $40,000 fine and three years of probation.
Operating out of Weber County, he ran an online business, primarily selling cards to people in New York, where COVID restrictions were stricter.
From March to September 2021, he used Facebook to sell the fake cards, charging $10 each for orders of 10 or more, and $7.50 for 100 or more.
