Most basic iodized salt has bullshit additives for "anti-caking" purposes. Who knows how regulated the iodine in it is anyway? Probably Lugol's or straight-up potassium iodide is still the best bet. Moar sodium in general is not bad per se, but most people are probably too deficient in potassium to get away with it. Sodium/potassium balance each other while magnesium/calcium balance other. Sodium and calcium are vilified, but hardly anybody pushes for moar dietary potassium and magnesium. Potassium can be tricky in higher doses and some magnesium foods can cause kidney stones so…nobody advocates for it in the mainstream.
