No that's not how that works. The in cases of impeachment clause means he can't pardon someone being impeached to stop it or cancel them being removed from office. Basically the president doesn't have the authority to pardon in cases of impeachment to overrule the person impeached being removed from office. If someone is impeached and removed from officer, the president can still pardon them of criminal charges.

I know the law and the nonsense some are spreading. Someone impeached can still be pardoned of criminal charges, the pardon just doesn't work against an impeachment (removal from office).

No. The impeachment has nothing to do with pardon of criminal charges. The purpose of impeachment has nothing to do with punishment, simply removal of and possible ban from holding office. If you are impeached and convicted by the senate, the president can not pardon you of that and keep you in office.

Even when a person has been impeached, criminal charges can still be pardoned.
