It's written right hereโ€ฆ there is no opinion the USSC can have:

Article II, Section 2, Clause 1:

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

Impeachment:

The Constitution gives Congress the power to impeach federal officials. An official can be impeached for treason, bribery, and โ€œother high crimes and misdemeanors.โ€

But now what if the Congress were treasonous and bribed to Impeach someone without evidence thoughโ€ฆ

>the president can still pardon them of criminal charges

Yeah that's what I'm saying. But there is an exception, you cannot be pardoned for treason or bribery according to the clauses in previous posts mentioned this bread (scroll up).

You ain't keeping up with what other anons were saying:

Article II, Section 2, Clause 1:

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment (treason, bribery).

So if you smoked crack and banged a prostitute you can be pardoned. But if you took part in a pay-to-play scheme to allow foreigners to influence your position of power at the detriment of the safety of homeland security and such as - that cannot be pardoned.
