‘The View’ Host Sunny Hostin Issues Another Legal Note Regarding Comments About Pete Hegseth

Dec. 2, 2024

The View co-host Sunny Hostin was forced to issue another legal note regarding comments made about Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense.

During Monday’s episode of The View, Hostin issued a statement after co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Ana Navarro, and former Trump administration official Alyssa Farah Griffin made comments about an old private e-mail from Hegseth’s mom to her son accusing him of mistreating his ex-wife. Hegseth’s mom has since defended her son and described him as being a “good father” and husband.

Breitbart News’s Kristina Wong reported that Hegseth’s mother apologized immediately after she sent the emotional e-mail.

The co-hosts also discussed other Trump cabinet picks such as former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (R-HI), former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Kash Patel, and how senators should “fully vet” the cabinet picks.

“I have a very quick statement,” Hostin stated.

“It’s not going to be that quick,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg interjected.

“Pete Hegseth has denied any wrongdoing, his lawyers said he paid the woman in 2023 to head off the threat of a baseless lawsuit,” Hostin said. “No charges were ever brought.”

The legal note issued by Hostin comes as The View co-hosts have previously been forced to issue several legal notes during several previous episodes.

In one episode, Hostin and co-host Joy Behar issued four legal notes after comments made surrounding allegations about former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who was Trump’s first pick for attorney general before he withdrew his name from consideration; Pam Bondi, who Trump selected to serve as attorney general, Hegseth and former New York Rep. George Santos (R).

Hostin was also forced to issue a legal note in another episode regarding allegations surrounding Gaetz, stating that “Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations, calling the claims “invented,” and saying in a statement to ABC News that this false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism. The DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought.”

I think the Founding Fathers made it exceptionally broad because the politics at that time were same as they are today, and democrats would try to bribe the president by threatening their families. It was brutal back then, and they knew the President couldn't conduct his duties freely and honestly, knowing their families could be hurt with false lies or arrest.

Message received Mr President, we are hurriedly working on itSupreme Leader of Iran

Report: Iran Halts Israel Attack Following Trump Victory

3 Dec 2024

Iran reportedly halted an attack on Israel following President-elect Donald Trump’s sweeping victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in November.

A recent report from The New York Times highlightedIran has struck a more “conciliatory tone” since the November election, which included halting a retaliatory attack on the Jewish state.

In mid-November, Iran dispatched a top official to Beirut to urge Hezbollah to accept a cease-fire with Israel. Around the same time, Iran’s U.N. ambassador met with Elon Musk, an overture to President-elect Donald J. Trump’s inner circle. And on Friday, it will hold talks in Geneva with European countries on a range of issues, including its nuclear program.

All this recent diplomacy marks a sharp change in tone from late October, when Iran was preparing to launch a large retaliatory attack on Israel, with a deputy commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps warning, “We have never left an aggression unanswered in 40 years.”

Five Iranian officials, including one Revolutionary Guard member, said the shift in tone occurred in response to the president-elect’s victory on November 5 along with Israel’s assault on Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“They said Iran suspended plans to strike Israel following Mr. Trump’s election because it did not want to exacerbate tensions with the incoming administration, which was already lining up cabinet nominees who were hostile to Iran and staunch supporters of Israel,” noted the Times.

The president-elect has been emphatic in his support for Israel, pledging that he will cancel delays and restrictions on arms shipments to the nation on his first day in office.

“The Biden-Harris administration withheld precision bombs from Israel in May in response to Israel’s decision to enter Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza, against the White House’s explicit demands. Israel ultimately secured Gaza’s border with Egypt and killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who had been attempting to escape through Rafah,” Breitbart News reported.

Anons notes: Remember anons. Trump had struck a deal at the end of his first term with the Supreme Leader of Iran, that he was going to sign after the inauguration. The deal was Iran agreed never to develop an atomic weapon, and Trump would open up Iran to world commerce. They could do business in all countries, travel etc, they would become integrated with the world. The leader agreed, and was looking forward to the signing. I think that Trump will immediately pick up communications with him, they respected each other in the couple of talks. And thats one reason why they are stopping the warring.

Too bad BiBi didn't want to stop. Trump is the anti war President and Joe ruined it. Remember Hamas was happily drawing up a peace agreement two weeks ago, and Bibi said he wouldn't sign it.Is that why Trump truthed out to Bibi to stop bullying his neighbors yesterday?

Trump dines with visiting Sara Netanyahu at his Florida golf resort

Prime minister’s wife says she raised issue of hostages held in Gaza with US president-elect and noted the ‘urgent need for their swift release’

US President-elect Donald Trump dined Sunday night with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife Sara at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

A photo of the pair was posted on X by Trump’s deputy director of communications.

Netanyahu is in Miami for several weeks to visit her son Yair who has been living in Florida for over year. Her trip will apparently keep her out of the country during the beginning of the prime minister’s scheduled testimony in his criminal trial on corruption charges.

Sara Netanyahu said that during her meeting with Trump, she raised the issue of the hostages held in the Gaza Strip who were abducted from Israel on October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian terror group Hamas led a massive cross-border attack on Israel, killing 1,200 people and abducting 251.

“During the meeting, which was warm and friendly, we discussed many topics, including the steadfast friendship between Israel and the United States and the importance of continuing to nurture the unique bond between our nations,” she wrote in an Instagram post in English and in Hebrew.

“I also brought to the President’s attention the immense suffering Israel endured on October 7th and the inhumanity of Hamas terrorists holding our citizens hostage under harsh conditions. I emphasized the urgent need to act for their release and swift return,” she said.

“We also discussed the strategic importance of Israel’s victory in the fight against the axis of evil, for a more stable and secure future in the Middle East and around the world,” Netanyahu wrote, adding that she congratulated Trump on his election victory.

does anyone have the Trump Truth warning to Bibi about his neighbors? All of this put together makes sense

Bibi wants to continue the war, Trump wants him to end it. It's obvious when Iran and Hamas were preparing peace a week or more ago. They even drew up a peace agreement.I'm pretty sure Trump has been talking to The Supreme Leader, to re-engage in the deal they made in 2020. Even though Iran is making money from the US by oil, they want to be a free state and integrate with the world.

Also Trump told this story of the SC leader calling Trump and said "we have to send bombs somewhere (Iraq), but the bombs will miss all targets, because we have to maintain our pride. But we will not hurt anyone." They knew Trump would respond if not informed by them, that it was a farce.

If any Republicans oppose Trump at this point, there's going to be a lot of recess appointments. And Trump has the attorneys for that.

Senate has 53 Reps to 47 dems, plus they have Vance as the tie break, so Mcconnell, murkowski and Collins can say nay, but they will win with Vance

Some key GOP senators open to no FBI background checks on Trump picks

By Ted Barrett, Lauren Fox and Morgan Rimmer, CNN

December 2, 2024

Key Republican senators promised on Monday that President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the FBI, Kash Patel, will be vetted through the confirmation process.

At the same time, two incoming committee chairs suggested openness to Patel and Trump’s other nominees not undergoing full FBI background checks as has traditionally been done.

CNN has reported that Trump’s transition team is bypassing traditional FBI background checks for at least some of his Cabinet picks.Trump and his allies believe the FBI system is slow and plagued with issues that could stymie the president-elect’s plan to quickly begin the workof implementing his agenda, people briefed on the plans said.

“My job is to make sure that the nominees have a thorough, fair process, and ultimately, you know, our members will decide,” said Sen John Thune, the incoming Senate Majority Leader, when asked if he has any concerns about Patel.

Thune said, “historically, the best place to get that done has been through the FBI,”but he acknowledged Trump has some “alternatives” in mind for background checks and the committee chairs will have to trust that nominees before them have been thoroughly examined.

RepublicanSen. Michael Crapo, who will chair the Senate Finance Committee that will hold confirmation hearings for several positions, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be the Department of Health and Human Services secretary, said he will accept whatever Trump wants.

“No, I’ll let that be a decision that President Trump makes,” he said when asked if he will insist on background checks performed by the FBI. “My position is what President Trump decides to do is what I will support.”

It’s unclear how many Republican senators would be open to not having FBI background checks for nominees, and other key senators have already affirmed the importance of background checks.

Asked on Monday if she is concerned about new allegations that have emerged publicly about Trump’s pick for Defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, GOP Sen.Susan Collins, a key potential swing vote, said, “I haven’t read about them, but it’s why we need FBI background checkon nominees, so that we can sort out issues like that. (Of course)

The New Yorker reported Sunday that Hegseth was pushed out as the head of two veterans’ advocacy organizations amid internal allegations of mismanagement and personal misconduct. It comes on the heels of reports detailing a sexual assault allegation from 2017, which Hegseth has denied and in which no charges were filed.

Asked by CNN for comment about the magazine’s reporting, a Hegseth adviser said,“We’re not going to comment on outlandish claims laundered through the New Yorker by a petty and jealous disgruntled former associate of Mr. Hegseth’s.

Get back to us when you try your first attempt at actual journalism.”KEK

Hegseth met with around a dozen Senate Republicans in the Capitol on Monday evening, including Sens. Mike Lee, Bill Hagerty, Rick Scott, Ted Cruz and Cynthia Lummis.

Speaking to reporters,Limmis dismissed concerns about Hegseth’s alleged actions, saying that soldiers can be “wild childs.”

“They’re throwing disparaging remarks at someone who has earned a great deal of credibility,” she said. “Are soldiers sometimes wild childs? Yeah, that can happen, but it is very clear that this guy is the guy who, at a time when Americans are losing confidence in their own military and our ability to project strength around the world, that Pete Hegseth is the answer to that concern.”

Cruz would not rule out voting for a nominee who hasn’t received an FBI background check.

When he was first asked about background checks on the nominees, Cruz told reporters, “Look, there will be background checks on nominees and that that’s always been an important part of the process,” but when pressed on if he needs to see FBI background checks, the Texas Republican said, “We’re going to let each committee resolve those issues.”

Asked if he’d be willing to vote on a nominee who hasn’t received an FBI background check, Cruz repeated, “As I said, that’s going to be for each committee to decide.”

GOP Sen. Roger Wicker, who will chair the Senate Armed Services Committee that will hold confirmation hearings for Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense, said “I would prefer a full background check”but stopped short of saying he would insist on it.

“I haven’t said that,” he responded to CNN.

The only time FBI background checks should be trusted is when Kashu is running the place.

South Korean won cuts losses after parliament votes to lift martial law

DEC 3 2024 Sam Meredith

(Did they call marshall law because of a budget debate or because they were losing money on the currency?)

KEY POINTS

• South Korea’s won on Tuesday cut losses against the U.S. dollar after the country’s parliament swiftly passed a resolution to demand the lifting of martial law.

• The vote comes less than three hours after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law, which had prompted the country’s won to notch a fresh two-year low against the U.S. dollar.

• Yoon’s conservative People Power Party and has been deadlocked in negotiations with the liberal opposition Democratic Party over the 2025 budget bill.

==South Korea’s won

on Tuesday cut losses against the U.S. dollar after the country’s parliament swiftly passed a resolution to demand the lifting of martial law==.

The vote comes less than three hours after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law, which prompted the country’s won to notch a fresh two-year low against the U.S. dollar.

The greenback was last seen 1.2% higher against the won, having traded up as much as 2.7% earlier in the day.

South Korea’s Yoon had accused opposition lawmakers of controlling the parliament and throwing the country into a political crisis.

“I declare martial law to protect the free Republic of Korea from the threat of North Korean communist forces, to eradicate the despicable pro-North Korean anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people, and to protect the free constitutional order,” Yoon said, according to a Reuters translation.

The move, which hasn’t been imposed in Asia’s fourth-largest economy since 1980, was sharply criticized by opposition lawmakers.

Martial law refers to the temporary imposition of military authority over a civilian population, typically during a time of emergency.

South Korea’s Martial Law Commander and Army General Park Ahn-soo said earlier that several measures were to come into force from 11 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET) “to safeguard liberal democracy and protect the safety of the people against anti-state forces threatening to overthrow the Republic of Korea.”

Yoon's conservative People Power Party and has been deadlocked in negotiations with the liberal opposition Democratic Party over the 2025 budget bill.

The 63-year-old assumed office in May 2022 shortly after winning the presidential election by the narrowest margin in the country’s history. His foreign policy stance has been dominated by a hardline stance on North Korea, while Yoon has also sought to strengthen ties with the U.S. and Japan.

South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that scores of people had gathered in front of the country’s National Assembly in the early hours of the morning local time.

ETFs and U.S.-listed shares of Korean-based firms tumbled on the news, before staging a recovery after the country’s parliament voted to lift martial law.

The MSCI South Korea ETF

was last seen trading off by 2.7%, after falling as much as 6.5% earlier in the session.

Meanwhile, shares of Coupang

and Posco Holdings were both off around 4.4%, while KT Corp and KB Financial slipped 1% and 2.4%, respectively.

Park said all political activities and any act that denies or seeks to overthrow the liberal democratic system would be prohibited.
