Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution grants them that authority. I was responding to the incorrect claim that Article 1 Section 10 forbids it, it only forbids the states.

 

Government has ABSOLUTELY taken power not granted, but the constitution does grant that authority.

I hate you constantly shilling this new oath bullshit. The oath only means something to those who erroneously trust in it, it means nothing to those who violate it. Yes presidents do take it, and a president has committed treason. As I said, it's absolutely meaningless to those who would commit treason. They serve only to give a false sense of security. Thanks for the example.
