Elon, not hiring Americans for tech jobs and favoring H1b's is like the soon to be last administration letting states kick vets out on the streets in preference for food and lodging for illegals.

Have you honestly advertised for those who have been kicked to the sidelines due to the economy or because they were replaced by an H1b? Can someone out of work due to the economy and H1b get a job when HR sees that gap in employment? Most HR is clueless about tech anyway.

We have several years of grads who could not get a job due to the above. How about giving them a helping hand first? You build a workforce, you don't go out on a world wide search for that less than 1%- who could just as well take what they gleam from our tech back to their own country.

The H1b's here now need to go home and let Americans have their jobs back. It's no different than outsourcing a job oversees instead of hiring here at home.

I believe the best talent is here. It just needs to be helped back on its feet.

Are you willing to let the "not top" less than 1% of H1b's go, right now, and hire American citizens? You're saying that more than 99% don't belong here.

The point is that there are people out there already with the Engineering degrees, they just can't find jobs. Mediocre isn't their goal. This is dishonest from Vivek. Ask him why there are "ghost" jobs so employers can hire cheaper H1bs. Many, many jobs are advertised that aren't there for American citizens.
