The 'godfather' of AI is backing Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI

Geoffrey Hinton doesn't support OpenAI's plan to become a for-profit company.

Hinton said OpenAI has "received numerous tax and other benefits from its non-profit status."

Hinton voiced his support for the injunction Elon Musk filed against OpenAI's transition.

In February, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the ChatGPT-maker of violating its nonprofit mission by partnering with Microsoft.

anon opines:

anon was young and now anon is old. anon's era has been marked by one traumatizing event (or op) after another. anon notices that society seems to exhibiting a collective "Stockholm Syndrome." Perhaps by design. Not "perhaps." Just "by design." People just want to be the bytch of some greater power.

to wit:

"One of the most disturbing trends in American society is the drift toward economic totalitarianism. More and more Americans are speaking fondly of excessive government control over economic life, an erosion of economic liberty which will have dramatic consequences for our other freedoms. Younger Americans, especially, are expressing negative views of economic freedom and which also correlates with their increasing desire for Big Brother to even spy on them in their homes!"

maybe not "wipe out humanity," but definitely traumatize it.

it's already habbening. Voice-mail hell, disappearance of actual human beings in necessary commercial or institutional interactions, the "auto-correct" problem in every facet of life where tech is employed. It wears on people. Like rain on a rock.

But people adapt. And then "tech" adapts. Interesting to see where it goes. Anon is apocalyptic.
