Tennessee man sentenced for using drone to fly marijuana into federal prison in Mississippi==
Updated: Jan 9, 2025 / 11:18 AM CST
A Tennessee man was sentenced on Wednesday, January 8 to two months in prison for providing marijuana to an inmate of a federal prison in Mississippi.
Officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Mark Anderson, 50, will be placed on supervised release for three years following his release from federal prison.
According to court documents, Anderson flew a drone carrying 195 grams of marijuana over the Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City and delivered it by releasing it from the air where an inmate would later retrieve it during the early morning hours of October 2, 2021.
Anderson pled guilty on September 26, 2024.
Homeland Security Investigations and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations investigated the case.

Presidential office denies involvement in drone infiltration to Pyongyang
Updated : 2025-01-09 20:24
The presidential office denied Thursday the opposition's claims that the National Security Council (NSC) had ordered the military to send a drone into North Korea last year.
Lawmakers of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) claimed that a senior NSC official directly ordered the Drone Operations Command to infiltrate Pyongyang with a drone last October.
The presidential office said Yin Sung-hwan, the second deputy national security adviser, visited the command in March 2023 as part of an official inspection, and Drone Operations Commander Kim Yong-dae visited the NSC office five months later to discuss drone deployment strategies.
The office said the opposition lawmakers' linking of the NSC's work to strengthening military readiness was intended to stoke tension with the North and is an "absurd political offensive," urging the DP to refrain from putting national security into "unnecessary political strife."
In October, North Korea claimed to have discovered the remains of unmanned aerial vehicles carrying anti-Pyongyang leaflets in its capital, accusing Seoul of sending the drones and warning of retaliation if such actions were repeated.
The military has maintained its stance of not confirming the alleged drone infiltration despite suspicions raised by the opposition bloc that the move was linked to preparations for President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law imposition on Dec. 3. (Yonhap)

Washington DC Definitely a Drone
January 9, 2025 at 12:30PM
Yesterday we wondering about Drone, Helicopter or Airplane? sightings around town.
Thanks to C. for sending from the Old Post Office/Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Ave:
Washingtonian reported via the Associated Press:
“The US Secret Service and other agencies plan to deploy “numerous security and surveillance drones” around DC over the next few weeks, the Associated Press reports.
That’s remarkable because FAA regulations typically prohibit unmanned aerial vehicle flights in the entire region.”

UFO spotted: mystery green "shooting star" in Herefordshire
January 7, 2025
A MYSTERY green flying object was spotted in Herefordshire's skies overnight.
Locals have taken to social media to report the item, which was seen on January 7.
The "large green 'shooting star'" was seen to break into pieces, according to one local writing on Facebook, who said they had "never seen anything like it before in my life".
Others responded to the post, saying they had also seen it in the Herefordshire night sky.
The Quadrantid meteor shower is currently visible over the UK. Peaking on January 4, the total period of this shower is from December 26 to January 12.
Royal Museums Greenwich said the shower is among the strongest and most consistent meteor showers of the year, with a maximum rate of 120 meteors per hour on a clear night, although the meteors are said to be bluish- or yellowish-white meteors with fine trains rather than green.

George Clinton’s real UFO encounters: “If you ain’t got no booty, what do you shake?”
Tue 7 January 2025 23:00, UK
People weren’t meant to be this informed all the time. It’s quite literally not natural for us to know this much information and have such a big-picture view of the world.
For most of us, we have to focus on what we ourselves can change for the sake of our own mental health. Having too much of a big-picture view of the world will only stress us out.
That said, we could go the George Clinton way, take the big picture to such a degree that we all become one, and see just how ludicrous it is to care about our petty differences.
Clinton sums this up best in an interview with Rolling Stone. When asked about white artists performing Black music, he is fairly supportive of the idea:
“You’re supposed to learn from each other, blend from each other, and it moves around like that.”
So far, so down to earth. Suddenly, that figurative statement becomes literal in the funniest way possible.
Adding, “We gonna be dealing with aliens. You think Black and white gonna be a problem? Wait till you start running into motherfuckers with three of four dicks!”
A good point well made, George. You see, Clinton didn’t just use the whole sci-fi/afrofuturism vibe of Parliament/Funkadelic as an image.
He’s all in on the idea of life beyond the stars because, if you ask him about it, he’s met them in person.
He goes on to talk about an alien encounter he had with bass icon Bootsy Collins. Right from the off, he answers the question that all of us would have and says, “We weren’t high.”
He says the two of them were driving together after a morning fishing trip, and at around midday, “A light hit the car, and a substance like mercury out of the thermometer rolled up the side of the car.”
In a further interview with the YouTube channel Nowness, he expanded on what happened next: “We just drove up to my house… my daughter came outside and said to us, ‘Y’all look like you’ve seen a ghost.’”
Then it gets really weird. Years later, he recalled that, shortly after they got back, his daughter “was talking about going to bed. We’d (gone fishing) around 9:30 or 10 in the morning.
Why would she be going to bed? Time was amiss; we’d never even contemplated the time being missing.”
In the same conversation, he goes on to talk about how rather than these visitors being invaders or colonisers, he likes to believe they’re our ancestors.
That they’re a shared part of our DNA that can help bring us together. Which is the core of all this.
For all his talk about out-there concepts we’d normally find in sci-fi films, to him, this is about us realising all that we have in common.
It makes no sense to discuss the concept of ‘white music’ and ‘Black music’ when it should be all about how much we, as humans, can connect with each other.
It's a charming thought, one put best later in the same interview. When asked what he’d like to say to these aliens if given the chance, he says he’d like to ask, “How do y’all dance? If you ain’t got no booty, what do you shake?”
Real talk, it’s a question we could do a whole lot of good by asking each other first.

UFO-shaped clouds form over Queensland's Darling Downs as BOM predicts more rain
January 8, 2025
It looks like a UFO, or an alien ship, but these oddly-shaped clouds snapped by locals west of Brisbane on Thursday morning are an indicator of Queensland's wild weather.
Kylie Craig Menkins photographed the storm cell from Gowrie Junction, near Toowoomba on the Darling Downs, about 5am.
She jokingly captioned it with "aliens come down", but told the ABC the spectacular display made her day.
"It was absolutely beautiful," she said.
Ken Manteit also snapped photos of the other-worldly cloud formation from Yalangur Lilyvale Road looking towards Oakey.
"It was so weird," his wife Roxanne said.
Kevin Humphrey's photos of the storm cell at Glencoe, south-east of Oakey, were posted to social media with the caption "Spaceship at Glencoe".
"I thought it looked a bit UFOish," he said.
Daniel Hayes from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said a "series of storms" over the Darling Downs on Thursday morning was what caused these "photogenic clouds".
"They can sometimes look quite weird in shape, and definitely look a bit like a UFO or a spaceship," he said.

Watch a Strange UAP Spotted at Night over St. Louis, Missouri
January 8, 2025
Stop me if you've heard me say this before, but there's something strange that's been spotted over St. Louis, Missouri. New video shows an unidentified aerial phenomena that just happened over the big city and it's hard to understand exactly what the object was.
According to the video description, this object was seen over St. Louis on January 5, 2025. Watch and see what you think this object is.
My first guess is drone if you look at the movement and lights.
There have been enough drone sightings over Missouri recently, that I'd bet my bottom dollar that we're looking at a drone, but who knows? The truth is out there and up there.

Widespread Fog Sparks Wild Theories About Secret Tests And Alien Activity
Updated Jan 8, 2025, 12:49pm EST
The latest weather-related conspiracy theory to take hold in the United States claims that the fog blanketing large parts of the country contains chemicals and is making people sick.
Dubbed Fogvid-24 by some, the fog has been affecting large swathes of the country for the last few weeks.
And, say many social media users, it's giving them symptoms including coughing, irritated eyes, sore throats and fatigue.
In one TikTok video that's received tens of thousands of views, David Bamber says it tastes and smells like fireworks.
"The taste of the air, the only word I can think of is toxic. It’s super weird and it’s kind of worrying me a little bit," he says.
"I’m 41, I’ve been through fog and this is something different… It smells like chemicals going down my throat when I breathe."
Some are drawing wild conclusions from the phenomenon, for example claiming that the fog — which many say contains small particles — is “smart dust,” tiny wireless devices designed to collect and transmit data.
On X, Erin Elizabeth Health Nut News takes this one further, linking the fog with Morgellon’s — a belief held by many, but unsupported by any evidence, that their skin is infested with parasites.
"This is a Morgellon’s smart dust infecting people‘s skin- it’s identical to the video. I shared here in N Florida of the ‘fog’ that got 4.5M views," she says.
"When I was a kid spin magazine did an article that MDs tested the fibers. They weren’t from this planet."
Many are linking the fog with recent sightings of UFOs, drones or orbs — most of which are readily explainable as aircraft or other perfectly ordinary events — and some are even suggesting that it consists of alien spores.
Fog, though, is hardly an unusual phenomenon at this time of year, and when it's freezing, it can consist of tiny ice particles.
Respiratory illnesses are common in winter, too, and even the purest water vapor can make symptoms worse.
Meanwhile, there are, of course reasons why the fog might smell of chemicals. Fog can trap pollutants, as it famously did in the U.K.'s Great Smog of 1952.
If bad enough, this can lead to or exacerbate respiratory illnesses — no nefarious “Fogvid-24” origins required.

Mystery orbs filmed soaring over California wildfires weeks after drone frenzy
Updated 17:36, 09 Jan 2025
Southern California is under siege by fast-moving wildfires, with the swanky Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles among the worst hit.
The devastation has tragically left five people dead and over 30,000 have been forced to flee their homes due to the encroaching inferno.
Amid the chaos, eyewitness reports of bizarre "drones" or unidentified flying objects gliding above the blaze have surfaced.
A clip from local news channel KTLA 5, showed the smoke-blanketed fire zone overlaid with a road map of the area.
But it also featured what appeared to be a fast-moving white 'orb' shooting across the lower half of the screen. It prompted speculation that the notorious New Jersey drones had shifted to California.
Other snippets of footage doing the rounds on social media presents gleaming anomalies zipping through roaring fires, with one video seemingly revealing a vast illuminated "mothership" amidst the smoke, reports the Mirror US.
While some onlookers reckon these are just freak atmospheric tricks played by the blistering heat, Chile's Ovniologica suggests perhaps ominous drones are floating overhead.
X, formerly Twitter, is buzzing with theories, including one user who pondered: "With 85mph winds it could be anything including pieces of flying burning debris, birds, bats, or swarms of insects. It's odd-looking though."
Cal Wire, a local news outlet, shared two clips with the caption "strange fast-moving objects seen over SoCal fires." Netizens are buzzing about odd projectiles darting in and out of the #SoCal fires on live telly.
They're asking: "Missile? Firework? UFO? Arson? Are we under attack?"
UFO fanatics have been scouring the news footage for more anomalous objects. One wrote on Reddit: "I had 3 live streams going on 3 large monitors yesterday and through the night, to watch the fires as I have family who live in the affected area.
"The number of oddities zipping around, especially on the beach cams, was pretty interesting. I'm honestly surprised that there's not more video of them.
I don't record the streams but I'm hoping someone else did and will post. The way the winds were and still are, many of them simply cannot be drones/other aircraft/fire retardant as they grounded everything overhead early in the fire event."
The forecast for those nearby is looking rather bleak. The notorious Santa Ana winds are whipping up a storm, with gusts reaching a whopping 80 mph, and it's only going to get worse in the next 12 to 24 hours.
Officials have admitted there's "no possibility" of getting the raging infernos under control anytime soon, and locals watching the flames creep closer to their homes are left wondering where to go.
Speaking to the Mirror, one resident from Topanga Canyon said: "Our area was evacuated. The fires are apocalyptic, catastrophic."
