Hunter Biden’s $15,800 Malibu rental home has been razed by the Pacific Palisades Fire, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Exclusive DailyMail.comphotos show what’s left of the ritzy property, formerly a three-bedroom, three-bath 1950s idyll with panoramic views over the Pacific.

Earlier today, President Biden told a news conference he wasn't sure but his son had been told the property burned down before being given hope that it had survived.

‘It's astounding what's happening,’ the 82-year-old president said during a news conference in Santa Monica, California, earlier today.

‘My son lives out here and his wife. They got a notification yesterday their home was probably burned to the ground.

‘Today, it appears that maybe [it's] still standing, but I'm not sure.’

But the exclusive photos show the $4m home Hunter, 54, shares with wife Melissa Cohen is one of the over 1,000 and counting houses flattened by the four wildfires raging out of control in LA County today.

Gone is the picturesque, white-painted property with floor-to-ceiling windows and in its place, a charred mass of crumbled masonry with only two chimney stacks still standing.

The luxury rental once boasted agourmet kitchen, and a 'guest studio with private balcony overlooking the ocean that creates the perfect artistic space'.

The studio was used byHunter to work on the paintings he uses to fund his lifestyle, although any still there have also been wiped out.

It is said that people get the government they vote for. Congratulations Los Angeles voters, you did a bang-up job electing this thing as Mayor.

Sky News Reporter David Blevins happened to be on a Flight to Los Angeles when he ran into Mayor Karen Bass who was returning from her trip to Ghana while Los Angeles burned from Wildfires. He utterly skewered her with simple, direct questions, The Mayor stood completely silent, unable to answer ANY of them!

Apparently, Mayor Karen Bass is what is commonly referred to as an "NPC" - a Non-Playable-Character.

It's a term from video games which describes an aspect of the game wherein the player encounters a thing that cannot be interacted with, cannot be reasoned with, cannot think. Instead, the thing merely does whatever it's program tells it to do.

Mayor Bass apparently had no programming to answer the Reporter's questions. Whoever wrote or controls her mental program, apparently didn't provide enough processing power for Bass to answer impromptu questions or even change her facial expression. Since she had no pre-written/programmed script, she seemed unable to interact or respond.

How is it the Mayor couldn't say something like: "I've just gotten back and have to be briefed on the situation, I will speak with the Press later today." or "My heart is broken over what's happening, I feel so terrible and will be helping as much as I can now that I'm back."

Instead, the Mayor said NOTHING. Apparently, her little mind could not cope with being asked questions that she had not been programmed to respond to. In fact, her mind seemed unable to even change her facial expression!

How did Voters in Los Angeles choose this to be Mayor? Or are the Voters in Los Angeles as empty headed as their Mayor seemed to be? That would explain a lot.

For instance, it might explain how Mayor Bass CUT the budget of the Los Angeles Fire Department by a reported $17.9 MILLION just this past September!

It may also explain how Los Angeles and specifically Pacific Palisades, situated literally on the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, found themselves running out of water. How do you run out of water for fire fighting when you've got the largest Ocean on earth 200 feet away?

Hollywood's biggest celebrities are picking up the pieces after discovering their affluent neighborhood was reduced to ash and rubble when the California wildfires tore though Pacific Palisades.

The homes of Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman and Miles Teller among those destroyed, while dozens of other Hollywood movie and TV stars now face an anxious wait alongside their neighbors to learn if anything could be saved.

Residents fled and then waited with bated breath to learn more about their homes, as news began trickling out that entire streets had been wiped off the map, firefighters were running out of water, and resources were being diverted to fight the fire on multiple fronts.

Now, the widespread devastation is becoming clearer as celebrities share their devastation upon discovering they've lost their multi-million-dollar mansions.

Every year, it’s the same story. California burns, and fingers are pointed in every direction, climate, drought, winds. But let’s stop dancing around the real issue: forest management (or lack thereof).

For decades, California’s approach has been one of neglect. Overgrown brush, dead trees, and poor preventative measures are essentially tinder waiting for a spark. The 1959 Cuban Revolution was a key event that galvanized and inspired the growing New Left in the 1960s. Cuba became viewed as a radical and anti-imperialist third world country worthy of praise by many of the radical activists of the 1960s.[3]

In 1969, SDS was composed of competing factions with individual priorities and visions.[4] SDS delegates travelled to Havana, and were inspired by Fidel Castro's New Year's Day speech, in which he called on Cubans to help with the sugar harvest.[5] Although the Americans originally offered to help by taking industrial jobs displaced by the massive sugar harvest, Fidel reportedly responded that if North Americans were to help, they would cut cane.[6] Hoping to unite SDS members behind a new project, the leaders began planning a trip, bringing American activists to Cuba to cut sugar cane.[5] Carl Oglesby originally presented the idea to members of SDS, but was ousted from SDS before it came to fruition. Bernardine Dohrn appointed Julie Nichamin and Brian Murphy to organize the trip.[7] Allen Young was also partly responsible for the organization and negotiations with Carlos Rafael Rodríguez and other members of the Cuban government. While in the US, the group met occasionally by regions to supervise, recruit, and fundraise for the trips.[6] The trip cohort, the Venceremos ("we shall triumph" in Spanish language)[8] Brigade, was promoted as an inspiring and educational experience.[6] The brigade itself was designed to encompass members from all radical movements in the United States, from black power radicals to anti-war student activists.[3]

In November 1969,[8] the first brigade of 216 Americans travelled to Cuba from Mexico City to skirt the U.S. government's restrictions on travel to the island.[8] The participants were to contribute to Cuba's monumental ten million ton zafra (harvest) of 1970, as well as to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Cuban Revolution. The second Brigade arrived in February 1970, to cut cane and learn about Cuban life. Although the zafra did not reach ten million tons, the Brigades continued.[6]

Later developments

The Antonio Maceo Brigade was formed as a Cuban solidarity group of Cuban American radicals that first traveled to Cuba in 1977. Many Cubans who joined the brigade were motivated to prove that they weren't counterrevolutionary "gusanos". At the time the Venceremos Brigade refused to allow Cuban exiles to be members believing them all to be middle class and counterrevolutionary "gusanos".[9]

The FBI has questioned individual brigade travellers over the years. Michael Ratner, who had represented members of the Venceremos Brigade, said that visits by FBI agents were most prevalent in the 1970s and 1980s and dropped off during the 1990s. In 2010, at least 10 brigade participants were visited by FBI agents.[1

And if there’s ever been a taboo against former committed Castro regime enthusiasts making it to the highest levels of national politics, it might be on the verge of being broken, too.

In the mid-1970s, California Congresswoman Karen Bass, who is now under consideration to be Joe Biden’s running mate, was an organizer for the Venceremos Brigade, according to several contemporaneous media accounts and an interview with the future congresswoman published in a 1996 Ph.D. dissertation. The brigade organized six-week work trips for American leftists of all tendencies who wanted to visit and support Cuba—think of a more overtly activist version of Birthright, but for people whose promised land was an anti-American, anti-gay communist dictatorship 90 miles off the coast of Florida.

An event blurb in an October 1975 issue of the communist Daily World newspaper describes Bass, then 22, as “leader of the Venceremos Brigade in southern California.” Bass herself explained her work for the brigade to a doctoral candidate working on a 1996 Ph.D. dissertation submitted to the Fielding Institute, titled “Women Activists of Diverse Backgrounds: A Qualitative Study of Perceived Influences and Values.” “Another critical influence for Bass began, at age 19, and spanned the next five years: Cuba,” reads the document, written by Dawn Noggle, who is currently the director of mental health services for the Maricopa County correctional system. “As a ‘brigadista’ and then organizer for the Venceremos Brigades, Karen visited Cuba every 6 months.”

When reached for comment about Bass’ involvement with the Venceremos Brigade on Monday, a spokesman for Bass’ office wrote the future congresswoman “wasn’t a leader—she went with other volunteers to build houses. She’s been to Cuba several times because she believes, like she said on MSNBC last night, the best way to improve relationships is through communication and diplomacy. It’s why she’s on the Ronald Reagan-founded Board of the National Endowment for Democracy, it’s why she went with President Obama, it’s why she went with Secretary Kerry, it’s why she went to visit USAID prisoner Alan Gross.”

The Venceremos Brigade’s pilgrimages to Cuba—the group was founded in 1969 by members of SDS and the Cuban government—were a magnet for the most radicalized and often delusional cadres of the American left, including overtly Maoist and pro-Soviet communist groups that preached the imminence of a U.S.-style workers revolution. The culture clash between American radicals and Cuban communist functionaries at times erupted into intense conflict during the early 1970s, most notably when it came to the Cuban government’s insistence that homosexuality was a form of illegal social deviance and that gay activists—and often individuals suspected of being homosexual—should be incarcerated under brutal conditions, for decades at a time.

Interestingly, Bass’ work in Cuba helped the future congresswoman reject the cultural looseness that 1960s radicalism had often championed. “Cuba was for her what psychotherapy is for others—a process through which she re-examined her values, her behavior, her relationship with her family, and her future goals,” Noggles’ dissertation concluded. “The irresponsibility and drug-taking of the ’60s had to be discarded; family was and is to be treated with respect; egotistical, self-indulgent behavior was to be confronted and changed. She still speaks of the experience and the individuals she met in Cuba with respect and a certain awe.”

Bass was one of numerous young radicals for whom a Venceremos trip proved formative.Joel Schwartz, a participant in an early brigade and a veteran labor activist, said his six-week, ground-level glimpse of the Cuban communist experiment was “life-transforming,” and added that he would “never say anything bad about anyone who went.” Schwartz also recalled that Brigadistas received threatening letters from the State and Treasury Departments, although the government never followed up on them. The leftist historian, author, and indigenous rights activist Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz remembered heading to the island with “500 squabbling Americans” of all different leftist persuasions when she traveled there on an early brigade. “It’s proof of the transformation they went through down there that they were actually not fighting at the end.”

The Venceremos Brigade’s links to the Cuban state were the subject of intermittently paranoid congressional hearings in July of 1972—witnesses alleged that a host of late-1960s radicals including Bernardine Dohrn and the sister of Angela Davis had been Brigadistas,and cited “Cuban underground” sources in claiming that a 1971 brigade had served as cover for a meeting between American leftists and North Vietnamese officials. In 1983, a former Cuban Directorate of General Intelligence captain who defected to the United States told the FBI that Cuban intelligence officers working under diplomatic cover at the Cuban U.N. mission in New York and the country’s interest section in Washington, D.C., controlled the brigades and selected their participants. Still, the brigade trips have continued into the present day—the 50th Brigade was held last year. While there are reports of trip participants being questioned by U.S. law enforcement over the years, no one has ever been successfully prosecuted in the United States for any brigade-related activity.

Bass’ Cuba-related work drew the attention of the Los Angeles Police Department, which had successfully infiltrated the local wing of the Venceremos Brigade. Per a 1983 LA Times article, a 1973 LAPD intelligence documentdescribed Bass as a “leader” in Venceremos,which was alleged to “train revolutionary-prone Americans in terrorist tactics and guerrilla warfare while claiming to harvest sugar cane.” Bass, then a 30-year-old physician’s assistant, acknowledged to the Times that she had traveled to Cuba eight times in the 1970s and had been active in the brigade, but said the only firearms training she had received had come from an undercover LAPD officer who, according to Bass, had “encouraged many different folks who had leadership responsibilities in the LA progressive community to learn how to use weapons.” Bass was later one of several plaintiffs in an ACLU-led class action lawsuit against the LAPD and 12 undercover officers over the department’s allegedly illegal spying.

Tennessee man sentenced for using drone to fly marijuana into federal prison in Mississippi==

A Tennessee man was sentenced on Wednesday, January 8 to two months in prison for providing marijuana to an inmate of a federal prison in Mississippi.

Officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Mark Anderson, 50, will be placed on supervised release for three years following his release from federal prison.

According to court documents, Anderson flew a drone carrying 195 grams of marijuana over the Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City and delivered it by releasing it from the air where an inmate would later retrieve it during the early morning hours of October 2, 2021.

Anderson pled guilty on September 26, 2024.

Homeland Security Investigations and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations investigated the case.

A 2016 LA Times article about Bass’ participation in President Barack Obama’s landmark trip to Cuba says that she frequently traveled to Cuba in the ’70s for volunteer work, but does not name the Venceremos Brigade. The brigade and the LAPD spying scandal currently don’t appear in the congresswoman’s Wikipedia page.

Bass’ involvement in the Venceremos Brigade is hardly the most important feature of the congresswoman’s career, although it does help illustrate her larger political trajectory. Bass is no dilettante community organizer. She did not get involved in activism as an elite resume-padding exercise, or as a jumping-off point to some other, more lucrative career. She wanted to solve problems in the community where she had spent her entire life, and then dedicated the next several decades to doing exactly that—she was only elected to the California state legislature in 2005, at the relatively late age of 52. For the 20 years before her election, she had founded and led organizations like the Community Coalition, which focused on the effects of the crack epidemic in LA and organized against the opening of new liquor stores in minority neighborhoods.

At the same time that she became one of LA’s most prominent activists, Bass was working as a physician’s assistant, a suitably skilled yet working-class career for someone who would go on to represent her community in the state legislature and in Congress. She is a Southern California lifer, earning degrees from San Diego State and Cal State-Dominguez Hills, rather than Harvard or Stanford. Somewhat unbelievably from our present vantage point, Bass was the only African American woman in the California state legislature when she was first elected in 2005. By 2008, she was California assembly speaker, and the first black woman in American history to lead a state legislative chamber.

It is worth asking how Bass’ career might have been different—and, perhaps, less consequential—without the radicalism of her 20s. According to that 1996 interview, Bass was in contact with Angela Davis when the future congresswoman was still in high school.

In the context of the document, “rect.” is short for “rectificationist,” referring to communists who opposed the revisionist turn typified by Khrushchev’s condemnation of Stalin and Deng Xiaoping’s repudiation of Mao. In 1977, West Coast rectificationists formed Line of March, which consolidated the efforts of activists affiliated with the Union of Democratic Filipinos, the Northern California Alliance, and the Third World Women’s Alliance (an organization that grew out of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, or SNCC). “Most of them have blended in relatively smoothly to a kind of left wing of the Democratic Party,” said Saba. “They came out of the wilderness of ultra-leftism and found a place in the political system where they thought they could really make a difference and stayed there ever since.”

A Bass vice presidency might turn out to be the ultimate test of whether the system changed these activists more than these activists changed the system.

Presidential office denies involvement in drone infiltration to Pyongyang

The presidential office denied Thursday the opposition's claims that the National Security Council (NSC) had ordered the military to send a drone into North Korea last year.

Lawmakers of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) claimed that a senior NSC official directly ordered the Drone Operations Command to infiltrate Pyongyang with a drone last October.

The presidential office said Yin Sung-hwan, the second deputy national security adviser, visited the command in March 2023 as part of an official inspection, and Drone Operations Commander Kim Yong-dae visited the NSC office five months later to discuss drone deployment strategies.

The office said the opposition lawmakers' linking of the NSC's work to strengthening military readiness was intended to stoke tension with the North and is an "absurd political offensive," urging the DP to refrain from putting national security into "unnecessary political strife."

In October, North Korea claimed to have discovered the remains of unmanned aerial vehicles carrying anti-Pyongyang leaflets in its capital, accusing Seoul of sending the drones and warning of retaliation if such actions were repeated.

International Longshoremen’s Association says full deal, pending union vote, tentatively agreed to avert the restart of strikes at major US ports

Representatives for unionised US dockworkers have reached a tentative agreement on a contract dispute with ports and business interests on the US East Coast and Gulf Coast that will stop union workers from reopening a strike action that shut down shipping operations for three days in October 2024.

The International Longshoremen’s Association said it had reached "tentative agreement on all items for a new, six-year Master Contract" for its representatives with employer the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX).

Details of the agreement are being withheld to allow ILA members to review the terms and approve the document in a ratification vote.

“We are pleased to announce that ILA and USMX have reached a tentative agreement on a new six-year ILA-USMX Master Contract, subject to ratification, thus averting any work stoppage on 15 January 2025,” the two sides said in a joint statement.

“This agreement protects current ILA jobs and establishes a framework for implementing technologies that will create more jobs while modernising East and Gulf coast ports – making them safer and more efficient, and creating the capacity they need to keep our supply chains strong. This is a win-win agreement that creates ILA jobs, supports American consumers and businesses, and keeps the American economy the key hub of the global marketplace.”

An initial tentative deal in October between the ILA and USMX reached agreement on improvements in wages for workers that will surpass 60% over six years. The tentative deal allowed work in the ports to resume for 100 days while negotiations on other contract points continued.

Contractual elements that remained on the negotiating table included the role of automation in ports. With details yet to be revealed, ILA president Harold Daggett said a face-to-face meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on 12 December was the "chief reason the ILA was able to win protections against automation" for its 85,000-member workforce.

Colorado Republicans Object to Certification of Election Results After Democrats Posted Voting System Passwords Online

A group of Colorado Republicans objected to the certification of the state’s 2024 election results.

The effort was supported by six Republicans and led by state Reps. Ken DeGraaf and Scott Bottoms of Colorado Springs who argued that the results may have been compromised by the posting of voting system passwords online.

“I have no proof that any of those passwords were used to do anything, nobody else has proof of that,” Bottoms said in a speech on the House floor Wednesday.

“But I think it would be naïve to assume that one person did not change at least one vote.”

However, these demands were unsuccessful, and the counting carried on regardless.

Democrats, meanwhile, denounced the objections as “unwarranted and unprecedented” and accused them of trying to undermine the election results.

“Opposition to this motion is quite frankly dangerous to our democracy,” said Democratic Rep. Andrew Boesenecker of Fort Collins.

“We’ve seen what happened when Congress went down this path four years ago and elected officials refused to certify results.”

According to the official election results, Kamala Harris outperformed Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign by nearly five points, winning 54 percent of the vote compared to 43 percent for Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, her vote tally was said to be down around 2.5 percent on Joe Biden’s performance in 2020.

Amid these seemingly comfortable margins, Colorado is now considered to be a reliably blue state, with Democrats holding the governorship, Secretary of State, and both Senate seats. This is all thanks to mail-in voting and far-left state leaders.

Colorado is one of four states, including California, Oregon, and Washington, that took weeks to finish their vote counting after Election Day. These states all use mail-in voting. And these states all have Democrats in charge for years now. Imagine that?

Its last statewide elected Republican was Senator Cory Gardner, who lost his seat in the 2020 election cycle.

The last Republican to win the state in a presidential election was George W. Bush in 2004, who defeated his opponent John Kerry by nearly a five point margin.

NO CRIMINAL INDICTMENTS: Florida Grand Jury Finds No Evidence of Criminal Activity by COVID-19 Vaccine Manufacturers

The report, spanning over 140 pages, outlines a litany of regulatory shortcuts, compromised safety standards, and conflicts of interest, yet it stops short of recommending any criminal indictments.

Despite uncovering instances of delayed disclosure of adverse events, manipulated safety data, and an alarming lack of transparency, the jury deemed these actions insufficient for criminal prosecution.

The grand jury wrote in its final report:

"While we did not find criminal activity, we did find a pattern of deceptive and obfuscatory behavior on the part of sponsors and regulators that often straddled the line between ethical and unethical conduct.

More importantly, however, not finding any indictable criminal activity does not mean we did not find any problems.

On the contrary, there are profound and serious issues involving the process of vaccine development and safety surveillance in the United States. Some of those are acute, COVID-19-era problems that are unlikely to occur outside the context of another once-in-a­ hundred-year pandemic. Others, however, are systemic; they will occur over and over until someone fixes them.

Unfortunately, all these complications have something in common: They involve multinational corporations and federal regulators. The ability of sovereign states like Florida to resolve these issues or even influence these entities directly may be limited. This Grand Jury finds itself in the awkward position of advocating for a series of changes to a group of private and public entities who did not ask for them and are unlikely to be particularly interested in adopting them. Still, we feel compelled to point to what we have seen, if only to make the general public aware of the extent to which the massive systems upon which we depend for our health and welfare has failed to serve their interests.

Regarding the clinical trials and pharmacovigilance of MRNA-1273and BNT162b2, it was genuinely striking to us just how many of the problems we found occurred at either the direction or acquiescence of the FDA, CDC and other federal regulators.

Nearly every time we found an issue with MRNA-1273 or BNT162b2, the fingerprints of these agencies were all over the scene, advising that the flagship and surrogate clinical trials be performed in specific ways, authorizing dose after dose and formulation after formulation based on out-of-date immunogenicity comparisons and observational results, and even running interference for sponsors by misleading the American public about validated safety signals.

These regulatory issues are magnified in the context of vaccines, where consumers have effectively zero ability to hold manufacturers legally responsible for their injuries.

Federal injury compensation systems like the ClCP only allow limited recovery, while simultaneously protecting sponsors from the discovery process one would normally use to prove negligence and causation in liability claims involving any other product. Even in cases where compensation is awarded, it is the American taxpayer, not the sponsor, who must pay the claim.

We understand that there is a desire on the part of the government to incentivize innovation in vaccine research and development, but the level of legal protection afforded to sponsors goes far beyond what is necessary to accomplish that goal, prioritizing development at the expense of public safety. We do not believe this system of legal protection is whole without merit, but we also do not believe that the current incentives are structured to maximize the benefit to the consumer so much as they are structured to maximize the benefit to the sponsor."

While the report stops short of declaring explicit criminal wrongdoing, it offers a roadmap for reform, emphasizing the need for greater transparency in clinical trials and stricter enforcement of postmarketing commitments.

A MYSTERY green flying object was spotted in Herefordshire's skies overnight.

Locals have taken to social media to report the item, which was seen on January 7.

The "large green 'shooting star'" was seen to break into pieces, according to one local writing on Facebook, who said they had "never seen anything like it before in my life".

Others responded to the post, saying they had also seen it in the Herefordshire night sky.

The Quadrantid meteor shower is currently visible over the UK. Peaking on January 4, the total period of this shower is from December 26 to January 12.

People weren’t meant to be this informed all the time. It’s quite literally not natural for us to know this much information and have such a big-picture view of the world.

For most of us, we have to focus on what we ourselves can change for the sake of our own mental health. Having too much of a big-picture view of the world will only stress us out.

That said, we could go the George Clinton way, take the big picture to such a degree that we all become one, and see just how ludicrous it is to care about our petty differences.

Clinton sums this up best in an interview with Rolling Stone. When asked about white artists performing Black music, he is fairly supportive of the idea:

“You’re supposed to learn from each other, blend from each other, and it moves around like that.”

So far, so down to earth. Suddenly, that figurative statement becomes literal in the funniest way possible.

Adding, “We gonna be dealing with aliens. You think Black and white gonna be a problem? Wait till you start running into motherfuckers with three of four dicks!”

A good point well made, George. You see, Clinton didn’t just use the whole sci-fi/afrofuturism vibe of Parliament/Funkadelic as an image.

He’s all in on the idea of life beyond the stars because, if you ask him about it, he’s met them in person.

He goes on to talk about an alien encounter he had with bass icon Bootsy Collins. Right from the off, he answers the question that all of us would have and says, “We weren’t high.”

He says the two of them were driving together after a morning fishing trip, and at around midday, “A light hit the car, and a substance like mercury out of the thermometer rolled up the side of the car.”

Then it gets really weird. Years later, he recalled that, shortly after they got back, his daughter “was talking about going to bed. We’d (gone fishing) around 9:30 or 10 in the morning.

Why would she be going to bed? Time was amiss; we’d never even contemplated the time being missing.”

In the same conversation, he goes on to talk about how rather than these visitors being invaders or colonisers, he likes to believe they’re our ancestors.

That they’re a shared part of our DNA that can help bring us together. Which is the core of all this.

For all his talk about out-there concepts we’d normally find in sci-fi films, to him, this is about us realising all that we have in common.

It makes no sense to discuss the concept of ‘white music’ and ‘Black music’ when it should be all about how much we, as humans, can connect with each other.

It's a charming thought, one put best later in the same interview. When asked what he’d like to say to these aliens if given the chance, he says he’d like to ask, “How do y’all dance? If you ain’t got no booty, what do you shake?”

Real talk, it’s a question we could do a whole lot of good by asking each other first.

Biden admin blacklists same Chinese company Hunter Biden partnered with in failed railway deal.

The Biden administration on Tuesday blacklisted the same Chinese shipping company over its ties to the Chinese military that Hunter Biden was set to partner with in a failed railway deal in Southern Europe.

The Department of Defense added the China Ocean Shipping Corporation (COSCO), the largest shipping company in China, to the list identifying “Chinese military companies” in the United States along with other Chinese shipbuilders. Though listed companies do not face penalties, U.S. companies are discouraged from pursuing business relationships with them.

Yet, Hunter Biden, the president’s son, and his business partners in 2015 courted COSCO for funding in an acquisition deal. The project was a proposed acquisition of the Greek national railway TrainOSE which was set to be privatized. This was just one of many deals the younger Biden organized with Chinese partners while his father was Barack Obama’s vice president.

Hunter Biden’s group, which included several Greek and Greek-American partners, including Biden family friend Michael Karloutsos, sought to entice the Chinese shipping giant to, not only invest in the railway acquisition, but to cover all the costs. The partners believed, emails obtained from the Hunter Biden laptop show, that COSCO would be unable to turn down the financial benefits of the railway.

COSCO already owned the busy Greek port of Piraeus. The “new route of Chinese products via Piraeus port is 8 days faster than any other route to central Europe,” one Greek partner reportedly wrote to Hunter Biden and his associates in an email, according to Schweizer, who independently obtained the contents of the Hunter Biden laptop.

COSCO was also hailed as a “Belt and Road Initiative success story” by Chinese state media for advancing Chinese economic interests in the European region. The plight of the Venezuelan people is something I understand well. Being in Central and South America for as long as I have, I have a complex understanding of their situation.

I also have a complex understanding of the locals situations where the fleeing Venezuelan people land. For example, in Colombia, the country with the most Venezuelan refugees, and ran by a far left President (Petro), the local people have mixed feelings: in a small town, near to the border, many Venezuelan's settled.

Here is the story (paraphrased) of a local young woman's observations:

The Venezuelan people who settle. Without resources or jobs or education. Some of the women would result to prostitution (legal in Colombia) and they would have no moral problems sleeping with a husband and breaking up a home.

Some of the men would steal, rob, extort, introduce violence and crime to the town that had almost none prior.

Just recently, as relayed to me, a Venezuelan raped a young child. The village was forced to live with this dynamic and it effects them still today.

In Costa Rica, the Venezuelans seek Asylum in such high numbers because Nicaragua is not allowing them passage through their country, which, under a negotiated treaty with Biden, requires they be provided work permits, stipends, and housing. As relayed to me by someone in San Jose:

They pickpocket, steal from tourists, they take housing and increase the rent for locals because their accommodations are gaurenteed so landlords don't even bother with renting to locals any more. They take jobs as contractors so that they don't have to be paid the minimum wage… they panhandle and litter.

In Mexico, they are on their way to the States. They are given an amount of time to make the passage (30-90 days). During that time they don't care about their crimes, they only want to get to the states, where they will destroy their documents and deny that they did anything. None of their victims get justice.

These are not the majority of Venezuelan people. In Costa Rica, if you remember, we raised $200 for Todo y Todo, the Venezuelan restaurant that was closing. The woman who ran it, amazing and caring and loving.

The dynamic is complicated, because the criminals overshadow the actual victims of Maduro. Maduro's dictatorship takes the prisoners and drop them into foreign territory so that he doesn't have to pay for their imprisonment, and ultimately they continue their crimes throughout the world. Add to that the expansion of Tran de Aguqua and other transnational narco-cartel operations that is directly influenced and ran by Maduro mixed in with the legitimate refugees and the situation becomes insanely complex.

Maduro needs to end. Maria and Edwardo have promised to allow all Venezuela people to return home and to work with nations to help them get back to Venezuela. Every legitimate refuge of Venezuela that I have met wants to return to their country. They have patriotism, they have love for their home. They miss it. But they have legitimate fears, and ultimately zero opportunity with narco-terrorist Maduro running the country.

This is why I support the opposition. So that the good Venezuelan people can prosper again, and the bad can be separated and disposed of.

Israeli Strikes on Gaza Kill 51 More Palestinians Over 24 Hours

Israeli attacks on Tuesday included heavy strikes on Gaza City in the north. According to Reuters, a bombing of a multi-story house in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood killed at least 10, while another five were killed by an attack on the nearby Zeitoun suburb.

Early morning Gaza time, Al Jazeera reported that a 15-day-old baby was killed by an Israeli attack on Sheikh Radwan. In Jabalia, northern Gaza, Reuters reported at least four were killed by Israeli strikes.

The House Committee on Internal Security (formerly the House Committee on Un-American Activities) has issued during the last week what it considers to bean expose of two Marxist-Leninist groups which have been very influential in the Midpeninsula.

The first effect of the report,entitled America’s Maoists: The Revolutionary Union, The Venceremos Organization,may be to catapult the two groups into national prominence, as past statements by this congressional committee and by the late J. Edgar Hoover have served to alert the mass media and America’s poorly informed radical community to the militancy of the old Black Panthers and to the growth of the Trotskyist Socialist Workers Party.

Secondly, the issuance of the report may severely increase petty police surveillance of members of these groups and their associates. One result of this would be less political liberty atStanford. a major center of Venceremos activity in the past.

Thirdly, the report may serve as a weapon in the corridors of power in Washington. The committee may cite it in efforts to expand its budget and influence. The report may be brought up in the present struggle among political decision-makers between the sophisticated ones who wish to use bilateral trade agreements and political co-operation to move China’s policies in the direction of corporate liberal America and the more parochial elements who will focus on the RU and Venceremous as actual or potential espionage agents for the Chinese government. The latter view of the two groups is expressed in the “Analysis and Conclusions” of the committee’s report.

Finally, the report contains information of interest and value to those who have observed or participated in the radical movement in the Bay area in the last several years.

Distortions

It should be emphasized at this point that some of the report is inaccurate or distorted. For example, probably one of the most frequently cited portions of the report will be its police-dossier profiles of over one hundred members of the RU, Venceremos, and the Intercommunal Survival Committee of the Black Panther Party. Yet, this section is in some cases wrong and outdated. Its lack of fullness, furthermore, on Stanford area and East Bay membership of these Marxist-Leninist groups reflects the report’s limited sources – basically, the Stanford Daily, Pamoja Venceremos, several RU newspapers, and the testimony of a husband-and-wife team (Lawrence and Betty Sue Goff) of fundamentalist Protestants who infiltrated the San Jose area RU for the FBI.

The most enlightening material in the report pertains to the split in the RU in late 1970 which produced Venceremos in its present form.

At the time of the breakup, one of the positions taken by the Venceremos group was that the RU was too heavily politically influenced by old members of the Communist Party, USA. The material in the House Committee report does seem to substantiate both the claim of significant personal influence being exercised by middle-aged veteran communists and the claim that the present-day RU political stance resembles a position taken during certain past periods by the American Communist Party.

The split in the RU had its origins in a position paper (called Position Paper A) written by Bruce Franklin and others, and outlining a strategy for armed insurrection in America. The response by those who disagreed (like Barry Greenberg and Bob Avakian) was referred to as Position Paper B.

Protracted Guerrilla War

Position Paper A, which enunciated the view of those RU members who later joined Venceremos, predicted that increasingly intensified urban guerrilla warfare on a protracted basis would be the process of successful revolution in America and said that this process was going on now. The Venceremos group saw the key to social change in America as the situation of racial groups like the blacks and Mexican-Americans and not the condition of white industrial workers.

Position Paper A was written, in the view of its supporters, on the basis of the “principle of protracted war: the accumulation of small acts, engaged in by more and more people, constitutes strategic action.” This viewpoint was expanded upon as follows:

“A strategic application of protracted war recognizes that only through armed struggle can the masses liberate themselves, but at the same time sees this armed struggle not in terms of glorious campaigns and actions but as the sum total of a war of attrition conducted by the masses against the ruling class. . . .

As the situation becomes more desperate for the ruling class and contradictions become more acute, the spacing between such uprisings will probably be shortened, and their development become more generalized so as to erupt in many areas simultaneously. . . The present-day Revolutionary Union stance is that the role of a communist is “to build the mass movement, integrating revolutionary violence as a secondary aspect,” and looking toward “the eventual mass onslaught, the insurrection, and civil war.” In addition, this group decided to concentrate its work in the industrial working class because the situation in the United States, a major power with world-wide hegemony, is such that only during a depression or political crisis would conditions be ripe for revolution. Those supporting Position Paper B further saw the American situation as fundamentally different from the objective situation in a colonized country where conditions were always ripe, given proper leadership and understanding, for a mass-based revolution against the colonizers. In Position Paper B, those who stayed with the RU said:

“Our real task is to build the mass movement, especially in the working class and to contribute through this mass movement to the further development of the contradictions of U.S. imperialism. The main part of this work will be open political work, not illegal military work. [The term “military” here refers to armed revolution, not to the U.S. government’s armed forces.] Armed struggle, in this period, will unfold as a secondary aspect of political work; its main value will be political – helping to mobilize the masses for political struggle, most of which will not involve armed struggle. .. .

“In a colonial or semi-colonial country, the masses are always in a revolutionary situation; in an imperialist country, the masses, the majority, are in a revolutionary situation only during a period of extreme economic and political crisis. . . .

“Our organization must develop as a Marxist-Leninist cadre formation, not convert itself into a guerrilla force, or an embryo of some future People’s Army or try to be both at the same time. A separate apparatus must be developed, outside the main cadre formation, to carry on military work.”

Ultimately, the two groups severed relations. Venceremos saw the RU as “revisionist” because Venceremos perceived the RU leadership as unwilling to put any theory of armed struggle into practice. The RU saw the Venceremos leadership as “adventurist,” incapable of the long-term work of mass-base building and preparation for an eventual armed insurrection followed by civil war.
