The premier went on to assure that Musk "is not a danger to democracy," arguing instead that there has been "meddling" in other cases, namely when ""wealthy people use resources to influence political choices and exponents, as was the case with Soros. Is the problem," Meloni continued in reference to the naturalized U.S.-based Hungarian financier and banker George Soros, "then that Musk is influential or wealthy or that he is not a leftist? Interference on a country's sovereignty is when you condition political choices" using financial resources and "I don't take money from Elon Musk…." In any case, "Musk is a well-known and wealthy person who expresses his positions, and when it comes to the danger of interference I must point out that he is not the first among well-known or wealthy people to express opinions, even against me. I don't recall anyone being outraged."

Kek!

Dum loquimur fugerit invida

aetas: carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero

As we speak, time is already running away, as if feeling

envious of us: seize the moment, hoping as little as

possible for tomorrow (Horace)

Carpe in Latin is the second person singular of the imperative carpo

("I seize"), to be understood in an exhortative sense, while diem is

the accusative singular of the noun dies, meaning "day."

Carpo literally means "I seize," but in this case it is,

"a technical verb, at the frontier between the two semantic fields

of seize and grasp, indicating a traumatic process, a piecemeal

taking with a lacerating and progressive movement from the whole

to the parts," so the many possible translations include "seize the

day," literal translation, "enjoy the present" or "live this day"

The "carpe diem" is inspired by the Epicurean conception of

happiness as the absence of pain and expresses the anguished

unpredictability of the future, the dignified joy of life, and the

resignation in accepting death, which the poet tries to exorcise

with the invitation to live in the present so as not to think about

the inevitable moment of passing. It is the expression of a value

that often in Horatian odes is confused with the admiring lyrical

exploration of the landscape, sometimes marvelous and sublime,

sometimes dark and gloomy in hue: a perennial reflection of a

complex existence, a dense web of experiences and emotions

that it is permissible to live intensely before death

One cannot understand "carpe diem" without its continuous

"quam minimum credula postero," the least possible hope

(feminine because Horace is speaking in the lyric to Leuconoe)

in the next one.

One day may well seem unfortunate or mournful,

but Horace urges us to accept it for what it is, for it is never certain

that the next one will be better.
