Trump bodyguard takes over US Secret Service

Sean Curran was in charge of the US president’s campaign security detail and shielded him from a would-be assassin

US President Donald Trump has named Sean Curran, who led his Secret Service (USSS) bodyguard detail while he was on the campaign trail, to direct the agency.

Curran rushed to shield Trump when he narrowly survived an assassination attempt during his 2024 reelection campaign. A member of the audience in Butler Pennsylvania was killed and two others were wounded as a result of the attack before the gunman was neutralized.

In a post on Wednesday on his Truth Social media platform, Trump said that Curran “is a Great Patriot, who has protected my family over the past few years, and that is why I trust him to lead the Brave Men and Women of the United States Secret Service.”

The US president noted that the secret serviceman “proved his fearless courage when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassin’s bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania.”

Trump’s appointment of Curran comes despite two bipartisan commissions’ recommendations earlier this year that the next president pick someone outside the agency to serve as director, according to a CBS News report.

Unlike other cabinet positions or the FBI director, an appointment to lead the USSS does not require a Senate confirmation vote.

Curran, who started his career in 2001, has served as the special agent in charge of Trump’s security detail for four years, supervising over 80 personnel.

He has never worked at the USSS headquarters in Washington and arguably lacks managerial experience for the top-ranking position, but has a strong reputation as an agent, according to a New York Times report which cited people who have worked with Curran.

A secret serviceman who worked for years with Curran, described him as a trusted and detail-oriented agent with an intimate understanding of the agency and a sharp sense of humor.

“Trump obviously trusts him,” another former special agent has claimed.

Curran will replace Ron Rowe, who had filled the role of acting director since July, when USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned due to intense scrutiny of the agency’s security lapses in the aftermath of the assassination attempt. The gunman had managed to get within 150 meters of Trump and fired several shots before being killed.

Multiple inquiries reportedly found that during the Butler rally, the USSS did not place a single person in charge of coordinating security, while many of the agents were complacent when giving instructions to local law enforcement to help secure the event. Several secret servicemen were later placed on restricted duty.

(Dan Bongino had given his feedback to Trump on who to pick, not necessarily choosing himself, but he has worked with Curran since the beginning of him in the SS, and he had recommended Trump not to choose him. Dan is friends with him, so it’s not for any reason than his knowledge of the SS.)

Danish politician tells Trump to ‘f**k off’ (VIDEO)

Anders Vistisen has rejected the US president’s proposal to buy Greenland

Anders Vistisen speaks during a debate in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France on January 21, 2025.

A Danish politician launched into an expletive-laden tirade against Donald Trump in an address to the European Parliament on Tuesday, rejecting the US president's calls for Washington to buy Greenland.

Trump, who was sworn in on Monday, has repeatedly claimed that ownership of Denmark’s mineral-rich Arctic island would be necessary for US national security. A former Danish colony, Greenland was granted home rule by Copenhagen in 1979.

On Tuesday, Anders Vistisen, a member of the Danish People’s Party, took the floor of the EU parliament in Strasbourg.

“Dear President Trump, listen very carefully,” he said in English. “Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years. It’s an integrated part of our country. It is not for sale.”

“Let me put it in words you might understand,” Vistisen continued. “Mr. Trump, f**k off.”

(why are the Europeans so rude and gauche in swearing at Trump, he doesn’t swear at them, or call them names in public, this may be the one reason Trump gets Greenland. Such rude and egotistical idiots there)

Nicolae Stefanuta, vice-president of the European Parliament, warned Vistisen that his choice of words was unacceptable. “It is not okay in this house of democracy. Regardless of what we think of Mr. Trump, it is not possible to use such language,”Stefanuta said.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Vistisen appeared to moderate his message to Trump. “Mr President, in the Danish People’s Party, we fight for Denmark just as you fight for your country, the USA. Greenland is Danish, it is not for sale – and neither threats nor prayers can change that,” he wrote. “Treat your allies well, and we’ll return the courtesy.”

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland’s pro-independence government have ruled out the sale of the self-governing island to the US. Trump originally proposed the purchase of Greenland during his first term in office. In 2019, he cancelled his trip to Denmark after Frederiksen had rejected the idea.

The number one reason why Patriots rebelled in America for their freedom, back then they didn’t want to give religious freedom, now they are choosing to limit free speech if it's conservative

Germany’s Scholz sets out limits to ‘free speech’

Freedom-of-expression privileges should not be used to promote extreme-right views, says German Chancellor

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has again lashed out at US billionaire Elon Musk, stating that freedom of speech should not be used for promotion of extreme-right views. (Scholz is terrified if people get what they want to say about the current German Government, the world will know how dreadfully awful and Nazilike they are including all European countries limiting Free Speech. The EU leaders know they will be exposed as corrupt and terrible leaders. Can’t have the public saying it.)

Scholz made the remarks on Tuesday in Davos when asked to comment on the incident with Musk’s controversial hand gesture during US President Donald Trump’s inauguration celebration on the previous day.

”We have freedom of speech in Europe and in Germany.Everyone can say what he wants, even if he is a billionaire,” Scholz said, as quoted by Reuters, stressing nonetheless that“What we do not accept is if this is supporting extreme-right positions.”(Hence only a few that total the totalistic line get free speech)

Musk was accused of performing a Nazi salute while addressing Trump supporters at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC on Monday. The billionaire, who said that Trump’s November 5 election win was “no ordinary victory” but a “fork in the road of human civilization,” then thanked the audience “for making it happen,” placing his right hand over his heart and raising it upward at an angle, palm down and fingers held together. He repeated the gesture once again, turning to the spectators behind him, with the words “My heart goes out to you.”

The incident sparked an uproar, with Musk later brushing off the allegations as malicious, saying his detractors “need better dirty tricks” and that “the ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”

Scholz has previously criticized Musk publicly, calling him a threat to the EU and to democracy over what he then also described as the US billionaire’s support for the “far-right.”

In December, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO called the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) the only party capable of “saving Germany” and praised its anti-immigration stance, while calling Scholz an “incompetent fool.”

Earlier this month, Musk hosted a livestream with AfD co-chair Alice Weidel on his social media platform X, reiterating that “only AfD can save Germany.”

The German leader hit back by saying Musk is seeking attention online, urging people to not “feed the troll.”

He has described the businessman’s actions as “completely unacceptable,” claiming that Musk “supports the extreme right throughout Europe, in Britain, in Germany, in many, many other countries.”

Musk’s livestream with Weidel was closely scrutinized by the EU, which deployed around 150 tech specialists and officials to monitor the event, claiming that it could give an “unfair advantage” to the AfD ahead of Germany’s snap elections, scheduled for late February. The party is currently polling second, with around 20% of public support.

The interview has also prompted backlash from German institutions, with dozens of universities and research institutes announcing their departure from X, citing “increasing radicalization” on the platform.

(Someone in the know should release the info that Scholz gave Bidan and Ukraine to blow up the Nord Stream Pipeline. Everyone knows he did it. Let’s see how long he lasts there. The leaders are getting more insane like in Brave New World and Animal Farm, then expected.)

UK faces ‘debt death spiral’ – Ray Dalio

Rising borrowing costs and debt levels could trigger a self-reinforcing fiscal crisis, according to Bridgewater Associates’ boss

The UK faces significant fiscal risks due to its rising borrowing costs and increasing debt levels, the boss of the world’s largest hedge fund, Ray Dalio, has warned.

Britain’sannual interest payments have surpassed £100 billion(roughly $125 billion), Dalio, the founder of investment management firm Bridgewater Associates, said in an interview with the Financial Times.

The recent sell-off in fixed-interest loan securities issued by the UK government, known as gilts, coupled with the weakening of the British pound, indicate that the market is struggling to absorb the government’s higher borrowing requirements, he explained.

“When you get to the point that you have to borrow money to service the debt and interest rates are rising, so that debt-service payments rise, so you need to borrow more money to pay them, you’re in what the markets call a death spiral,” the investor told the FT in Tuesday’s report.

The UK’s ten-year borrowing costs rose from 3.75% in mid-September to a 16-year high earlier this month at 4.93%, the outlet noted.

”As those risks increase, everybody looks at that need to borrow more money at higher interest, which creates [a] self-reinforcing debt deterioration cycle,” Dalio also pointed out.

The UK government in October adopted a budget for the financial year 2025/2026, pledging more funding for essential services and social support, and increased debt-servicing costs. Although the government announced tax increases, analysts have pointed out that these may not fully cover the additional spending, particularly amid slower economic growth.

The British pound has been declining since September, having lost about 8.2% of its value against the US dollar. The drop has been attributed to rising borrowing costs, market apprehension about the country’s debt levels, and reduced investor confidence.

The trends have prompted another warning, this one from Berlin-based credit rating agency Scope Ratings.

Recent moves in UK debt markets and the falling pound suggest that cracks may be appearing in Britain’s reserve currency status, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing Denis Shen, a top analyst at the agency. The UK’s vulnerability to emerging market-style sell-offs could jeopardize its AA credit rating, Shen warns.

In response to the challenges, the UK government said it remained “absolutely committed” to strict fiscal discipline.Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves have described their fiscal rules as “ironclad” and “non-negotiable.”(They elected the most idiot leaders that have no understanding of money and how it works. They just love to spend it. The UK is fucked.)

Panama alerts UN over Trump’s threat to seize canal

In a letter to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the Panamanian government cited UN articles banning member states from using threats and force

Panama has lodged a complaint to the United Nations (UN) over US President Donald Trump’s threat to take control of the Panama Canal. It has also initiated an audit of the Hong Kong-affiliated company managing two ports along the vital interoceanic waterway.

In a formal letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council dated January 20, Panama’s government rejected remarks made by Trump during his inauguration speech about reclaiming control of the strategic waterway.

In the letter distributed to reporters on Tuesday, Panama’s UN mission urged Guterres to convey the issue to the UN Security Council, without asking for a meeting to be convened.

The letter cited articles of the UN Charter that prohibit any member state from using or threatening force against the territorial integrity or political independence of another nation, and suggested that Trump’s statements had violated that principle.

During his inaugural address on Monday, Trump reiterated his threat to “take back” control of the Panama Canal, a waterway between the Atlantic and the Pacific built by the US in the early 20th century and handed over to Panama in 1999.

The president claimed that the US had been “badly mistreated by this insane gift,” adding that American ships were being seriously overtaxed.

Trump also took aim at China, claiming it was effectively “operating” the Panama Canal due to its expanding presence around the waterway.

“We didn’t give it to China; we gave it to Panama. And we’re taking it back,” Trump stated.

In response, Panama’s President Jose Raul Mulino rejected the claim during a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, asserting that the canal was “not a concession or a gift from the United States.” He also affirmed that “the Panama Canal belongs to Panama and will continue to belong to Panama.”

China also hit back, denying it had ever interfered in the canal. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Wednesday that Beijing had always recognized the canal as a “permanent neutral international waterway.”

Earlier this week, Mulino issued a statement, pledging to resist Trump’s attempts to reclaim control of the Panama Canal.

He argued that the US had handed over control of the canal to Panama “as the result of a generational struggle.”

On Monday, Panama’s comptroller’s office announced that auditors had visited the country’s maritime authorities to launch an “exhaustive audit” of Panama Ports Company, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Ports Holdings.

The audit is reportedly “aimed at ensuring the efficient and transparent use of public resources” at the Panama Ports Company.

(I kind of think the escalation to the UN, will only make Trump want to take it back with more force. These countries are crybabies.)
