This letter is based on a core misunderstanding of how the interagency and in particular how HRFC works. As the Senior Director for Counterterrorism on the National Security Staff, @Kash_Patel was lead for the President on all hostage recovery matters. The same document that formed the HRFC, tasks the Senior Director with providing oversight of the whole of government hostage recovery efforts. There is no foul here in Kash’s actions.
