Jared Taylor Isaacman (born February 11, 1983) is an American entrepreneur, pilot, philanthropist, and commercial astronaut. He was nominated by President Donald Trump in January 2025 to serve as the next administrator of NASA.[3] He is the founder of Draken International, which provides adversary training to the US, British, and other NATO air forces, and the founder and CEO of Shift4 Payments, a payment processor.[4] Through his leadership in private space exploration, Isaacman has been credited with advancing competition in the space industry and reducing reliance on government programs.[5][6] As of September 2024, his estimated net worth is US$1.9 billion.[7][8]

 

Isaacman was the commander of Inspiration4, a private spaceflight using SpaceX's Crew Dragon Resilience, launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on September 16, 2021. The crew returned to Earth on September 18, 2021, after orbiting at 585 km (364 mi) in altitude. The mission was part of a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, to which Isaacman pledged to donate $100 million.[9] In total to date, Isaacman has donated over $125 million to St. Jude.

 

Isaacman commanded the Polaris Dawn mission, the first private spaceflight in a series of missions named the Polaris Program. During this mission, on September 12, 2024, Isaacman became the first private citizen to perform a spacewalk.[10]

Lt. Col. Erika A. Holownia is the commander of the 12th Aviation Battalion, The Army Aviation Brigade, Davison Army Airfield, Virginia. Originally from New York, she commissioned as a Medical Service Corps officer from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2005.

 

​Lt. Col. Holownia served as an Aeromedical Evacuation Section Leader, Platoon Leader, and Company Operations Officer in 2-3 General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB), 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2011 she transferred to the Aviation branch, remaining in 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade as an Assistant Operations Officer and then Commander, Charlie Company, 4-3 Aviation (Assault), deploying again to Afghanistan. Following the Aviation Captain's Career Course, Lt. Col. Holownia served as a Maneuver Captain's Career Course Small Group Leader at Fort Benning, Georgia. She attended the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama before reporting to the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where she served as a Division Aviation Officer, 1-82 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion Executive Officer, and the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Operations Officer. In 2019, she moved to the Army Special Operations Aviation Command G-8 as a Programs Officer. Lt. Col. Holownia most recently served onthe Army Staff, first as the Executive Officer to the Vice Director of the Army Staff, then in the G-3/5/7 Aviation Directorate (DAMO-AV) as the Future Vertical Lift Modernization Officer and later the Fielding, Modification, & Reset Officer.

 

Lt. Col. Holownia is a graduate of the Army Medical Department Officer Basic Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Training, Aviation Captain's Career Course, and the Air Command and Staff College. She holds a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from Air University. Lt. Col. Holownia’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Staff Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Senior Aviator Badge.

 

Lt. Col. Holownia is married to Major Greg Holownia, an Infantry Officer currently serving in the Headquarters, Department of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff G-3/5/7 Operations, Readiness, and Mobilization Directorate. They have one son and one daughter.

“Our deepest condolences go out to all the families and friends impacted during this tragedy, and we will support them through this difficult time. Our top priority is to assist in the recovery efforts, while fully cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and other investigative agencies to determine the cause of this tragic incident,” said Maj. Gen. Trevor J. Bredenkamp, commander Joint Task Force-National Capital Region/U.S. Army Military District of Washington.

 

“While the investigation is ongoing, we are committed to transparency and will share accurate updates as soon as they become available,” said Bredenkamp.

 

While performing a training mission a United States Army UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter from Bravo Company, 12th Aviation Battalion, Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, Va., collided in midair with an American Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet Flight 5342 last night at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The FAA, NTSB and the United States Army will investigate. The NTSB will lead the investigation. We are working with local officials and will provide any additional information once it becomes available.

MISSION STATEMENT

 

The U.S. Army Aviation Brigade (TAAB) plans, coordinates, and executes aviation operations for the U.S. Army Military District of Washington (USAMDW), to include regional and worldwide priority air transport for the Army’s senior leadership, selected DoD Officials, and Combatant Commanders. TAAB executes airfield operations at Davison Army Airfield (DAAF) and provides Air Traffic Services support to the Pentagon helipad. As directed by the Joint Task Force–National Capital Region (JTF–NCR), TAAB employs rotary wing aviation and engineer technical rescue assets to support designated contingency operations within the National Capital Region.
