>>22484857 Pentagon removes major media outlets, including NBC News, from dedicated workstations as part of a new 'rotation programPN

My theories on this move is for a couple of reasons:

  1. The obvious, other media need access for more objective reporting.

2.Hegseth and the team could be looking for employees leaking to media. All the current media built up years of contacts willing to leak, media pays them backs with trips, dinners etc. There are a lot of leakers there and since Trump is president, negative stories will come out, or if there are military plans they can fuck things up. NBC saying "obstacles" sounds like they had special access not granted by higher levels.

3.Possibly tracking down spies either in the media or at the highest levels of the Pentagon. There are a lot of Trump haters there.

Anons do you have any other ideas!

=BTW, why does this cause a significant obstacles for NBC?The Pentagon has Press briefings almost everyday with a lot of reporters? Why having a desk there is better, is for insiders to leak things out! Hey isn't Ken Dilanian of NBC assigned there? He is a mouthpiece for CIA, what about the Pentagon

In a statement, NBC News said, “We’re disappointed by the decisionto denyus access to a broadcasting booth at the Pentagon thatwe’ve used for many decade.Despite the significant obstacles this presentsto our ability to gather and report news in the national public interest, we will continue to report with the same integrity and rigor NBC News always has.”

Scientists Warn Mile-Deep Underwater Volcano Could Erupt Off West Coast This Year.

Researchers who have been observing the Axial Seamount, an underwater volcano approximately 300 miles off Oregon‘s coast, for three decades believe an eruption is likely to occur in 2025. They cite a pattern of similar past activity as the reason an eruption is increasingly imminent.

"It seems to have this pretty repeatable pattern from one eruption to the next,” William Chadwick, a research associate at the University of Oregon, said in a recent interview.

The scientists monitoring the deep sea volcano stress that an eruption poses no danger to humans and is distant enough to be unlikely to impact the coastal United States. Still, they note that it provides an opportunity to test equipment and theories that could be crucial in forecasting other more dangerous volcanic eruptions.

“If you were on a boat above the volcano, you wouldn’t know at all that it had erupted,”University of North Carolina at Wilmington geophysics professor Scott Nooner said.

The Axial Seamount is recognized as the most active submarine volcano in the northeast Pacific. Over the past 30 years, it has erupted three times, with a consistent pattern observed between eruptions.

Recent monitoring reveals that the volcano has been inflating due to accumulating molten rock, a precursor noted in previous eruptions, leading scientists to expect another within the year.

Monitoring efforts include deploying instruments and cables extending from the shore, such as seismometers, to gather earthquake data around the volcano.

According to Chadwick, this setup provides real-time insights around the clock, a rarity in volcanic observation.

Another expedition deployed the remotely operated vehicle Jason to the site in June 2024. The research objective is to improve long-term volcanic eruption predictions.

Traditionally, forecasting eruptions beyond a short timeframe poses challenges, but as Chadwick highlighted, studying underwater volcanoes like Axial allows safer experimentation without risking public panic from false alarms.

Can you imagine having a job for 30 years watching and monitoring a volcano? I guess one would really love to watch volcanos.

Paramount Seeks Settlement in Trump’s $10B Lawsuit.

Paramount, owner of CBS, is looking to settle a $10 billion lawsuit from President Donald J. Trump over deceptive edits of an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris last year. The dispute centers on Trump’s complaints that a broadcast of an interview with Harris, his former electoral rival, was extensively and deceptively edited to make her look better.

The talkscoincide with Paramount’s ongoing efforts to merge with Skydance Media, which is owned by Larry Ellison and managed by David Ellison. The proposed merger could face regulatory hurdles from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Trump’s lawsuit seeks $10 billion in damages, alleging “election interference” due to what he describes as “deceptively doctored” footage.

The issue arose from a segment in a 60 Minutes interview for the 2024 election campaign last October.

A version aired on Face the Nation portrayed Harris differently than in the full interview, with a completely different answer to a particular question being aired. 60 Minutes defended the editing process, stating that their selection featured a longer excerpt of Harris’ response than the one shown in the main program. This is untrue, however, as the response aired by CBS was entirely different from the long, rambling answer in the first clip released by the company, which was also not included in the written transcript of the interview.

Attorney Edward Andrew Paltzik, who represents President Trump, arguesthat the edit was intended to confuse voters and portray Harris in a more favorable light.

Shari Redstone, Paramount’s majority shareholder, reportedly supports the settlement talks and could benefit financially from a sale of the company.(Isn't that Kamala's bestie?)

Top Globalist Demands Digital IDs to ‘Flush Out’ the Populist Right.

Former Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair wants his successor as British premier and Labour Party leader, Sir Keir Starmer, to impose a digital ID regime, in part to “flush out” anti-mass migration populists.

“What the populists do is they take a real grievance and they exploit it but they very often don’t want to have a solution because solutions are much tougher than talking about problems,” Blair said, adding: “The grievance would be on immigration that the thing is out of control. The grievance would be on crime that we’re not doing enough on it. So you say, ‘OK, here’s what you do’. And then you have a big political fight. The populist is forced to choose. You’ve got to create an agenda that the other side has to respond to.

”Right-wing populists do offer solutions to Britain’s record-breaking mass migration influx—for example, simply capping visas issued at a set level—but in an interview with The Times, Blair implies they have no proposed policy fixes and that digital ID can fill this gap.

(Why is it the Rich English Oligarch's never fix their disgusting teeth!I notice that a lot, they have the money, why not?)

French luxury billionaire sparks tax debate with threat to leave

Katell PRIGENT

Thu, January 30, 2025 at 5:27 PM

Bernard Arnault, the billionaire boss of the world's biggest luxury conglomerate LVMH, has picked a fight with the French governmentby suggesting that companies could flee France for the United States to escape a planned tax hike.

As the government of Prime Minister Francois Bayrou is struggling to fine-tune a budget designed to tackle the country's deficits and debt mountain,Arnault took issue with an expected key ingredient, a special tax on large companies.

"I have just returned from the US, and I have witnessed the wind of optimism in that country.Coming back to France is a bit like taking a cold shower," Arnault said at this week's LVMH earnings presentation.

Usually seen as close to President Emmanuel Macron with whom he regularly meets,Arnault was among a group of very rich men attending President Donald Trump's inauguration ceremonyin Washington this month.

In stinging remarks, Arnault dismissed Bayrou's plan as "a tax made in France" and offered an unfavourable comparison between France and the United States.

In the US "taxes will fall to 15 percent", Arnault said.

"When you return to France and you see that they areplanning to increase taxes on companies that produce in France to 40 percent it's incredible!

"If you actually wanted them to relocate, that would be the ideal way to do it," Arnault fumed, after his group reported a drop in 17 percent of its net profit for 2024 on a 2-percent slide in turnover.

  • 'Nobody believes that' -

The special corporate tax is the brainchild of the previous government under premier Michel Barnier, who was sacked by parliament in a no-confidence vote in response to his austerity budget plan.

Bayrou's administration, which is scrambling to put together a new budget, is expected to retain the special corporate tax move, hoping to collect an extra eight billion euros ($8.3 billion) this year from the one-time measure.

Finance Minister Eric Lombard has vowed the move which would take the tax rate for the biggest companies to above 40 percent will be in force for only a year, a pledge quickly dismissed by Arnault.

"Nobody believes that," he said. "Once they raise taxes to 40 percent, who will lower them again?"

The "exceptional contribution" would increase LVMH's tax burden by between 700 and 800 million euros, according to finance director Jean-Jacques Guiony.

"There is growing anger" in corporate France towards the government's fiscal choices, said Patrick Martin, boss of the Medef employers' federation, who saidthat Arnault's criticism was "obviously correct".

(Trump's plan is working!)

Newsom issues order to ‘maximize’ water capture during storms. Critics say it sounds just like Trump

(Environmental Lawyers will lose billions of California is run like a state for the people)1/3

Ian JamesStaff Writer Jan. 31, 2025

Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order that he says is intended to “maximize” the capture of water during winter storms.

Newsom issued the order Friday, saying it will make it easier to divert and store water as storms bring rain and snow in the coming days.

“It is more important than ever that we maximize every opportunity to recharge our groundwater supplies,” Newsom said. “As we anticipate rain and snow in Northern California, we are also preparing to use every last drop to boost our water supply for communities and farms throughout the state.”

Environmental and fishing groups, however, denounced Newsom’s order as being alarmingly similar to federal directives from President Trump, saying the governor’s approach threatens toharm vulnerable fish speciesand the deteriorating ecosystem of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.

“This order reads as though it was written by President Trump,” said Barry Nelson, a policy representative for the fishing group Golden State Salmon Assn.

He said Newsom’s measure appears to mimic an executive order that Trump announced five days earlier in which he directed federal agencies to “maximize” water deliveries in California and “override” state policies if necessary.

“This reads as almost a carbon copy of that order,” Nelson said. “We call on the governor to stand up to protect California’s environment, not to assist in federal attacks.”

Representatives of water suppliers supported Newsom’s order.

The measures “empower California water managers to blunt the destructive impact of flooding while quickly diverting excess water to recharge groundwater supplies,” said Cathy Green, president of the Assn. of California Water Agencies.

Green said the order underlines the need tomodernize “our permitting process to better reflect the state’s ability to remain flexible in the face of climate change.”(ban climate change and you hace no problem)

Newsom announced the order as the first of three atmospheric river storms reached the state, bringing rain and snow after an unusually dry January.

Newsom ordered the state Department of Water Resources to “maximize diversions of excess flows” during winter storms to store more water in reservoirs such as San Luis Reservoir, located south of the Delta near Los Banos. The order also calls for state agencies to “identify any obstacles that would hinder efforts to maximize diversions” and to promptly report on any “statutory or regulatory barriers that should be considered for suspension.”

State officials said Newsom’s order will make it easier for local agencies to capture more storm runoff to recharge groundwater, which has been depleted by overpumping in many areas. They said the order builds on previous directives by the governor in 2023 that helped increase the amount of water used to replenish groundwater…

By capturing more stormwater, Newsom said, “we are creating a literal rainy day fund to help us recover from a multi-year drought and prepare for our hotter, drier future.” His administration’s water supply strategy calls for preparing for a projected 10% decrease in the state’s supplies by 2040 because of climate change.

Trump has criticized California for what he calls “disastrous” policies and water “mismanagement.”

Conservation advocates said Newsom’s order reveals a similar approach to the president’s directives that they fear could lead to weaker protections for fish and clean water in the Delta and San Francisco Bay. (Why is only CA the only state that worry about fish more than people?)

“This is a capitulation by Gov. Newsom to Donald Trump’s lawlessness and disdain for California, Californians and our environment,” said Jon Rosenfield, science director for the group San Francisco Baykeeper.

While Trump’s order sought to eviscerate federal environmental protections and undermine state law, Rosenfield said, Newsom similarly chose to “waive state laws that require protection of the Bay’s clean water and fish. As a result, we can expect the Bay’s fish and wildlife to continue to spiral towards oblivion.”

California’s two main water delivery systems in the Delta, the State Water Project and the Central Valley Project, deliver water to farmlands and about 30 million people.

Pumping has contributed to the ecological degradation of the Delta, where the fish speciesthat are listed as threatened or endangered include steelhead trout, two types of Chinook salmon, longfin smelt, Delta smelt and green sturgeon.

Because of declining salmon populations, fisheries authorities have shut down the salmon fishing seasonon the California coast for the last two years, leaving commercial fishermen and charter boat captains out of work.

Another sign of the Delta’s ecological deterioration in recent years has been worsening toxic algae blooms.

Rosenfield said that the state’s existing rules would provide for diverting ample water during the upcoming storms, and the state’s water supplies in reservoirs are in relatively good shape.

“The only explanation for this move at this time is that Newsom is feeling the political need to prove that he supports diverting as much water or more than Donald Trump,” Rosenfield said. (No idiot it was fires that destroyed 100s of 1000s of homes)

Westlands Water District, the largest agricultural water agency in theCentral Valley, said it supports “streamlining the process to divert and store excess flows, such as from storm events.”

“This flexibility helps with overall water management in California and is an important step to maximize our water supply,” said Elizabeth Jonasson, a spokesperson for Westlands.

The debate that erupted over Newsom’s order is the latest in a series of disagreements that have pitted the governor’s administration against environmental and fishing groups in the Delta.Environmental groups, tribes and local agencies have been fighting Newsom’s plan to build a $20-billion water tunnel beneath the Delta.

They have also argued against a state-supported proposal for an alternative to regulatory flow requirements in the Delta that would involve negotiated agreements with water agencies.

Gary Bobker, program director for the group Friends of the River, said Californians have been looking to Newsom to “defend them from the Trump administration’s misguided attempt to force bad policy down the state’s throat.”

Instead, he argued, the order goes against Californians’ interests in preserving healthy rivers, fisheries and clean water.

Nelson, of the Golden State Salmon Assn., said policies like the governor’s order “have led to the collapse of the Bay-Delta environment, and to pushing salmon to the brink of extinction.”

Nelson said he’s concerned the order appears “open-ended,” and could allow for waiving environmental standards even when there is no drought or flooding emergency.

“This order isn’t even pretending that there’s a drought emergency. It’s not pretending there’s a flood emergency,” Nelson said. “It’s simply saying, ‘Let’s suspend environmental laws because it’s raining.’”

(They never mentioned the fires and devastation on humankind it created. These people make a lot money on their bullshit.)
