Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s expected Senate confirmation on Thursday to lead the nation’s health agencies threatens upheaval for America’s $4 trillion health care industry.
The industry is doing little and hoping for the best.
From drugmakers to doctors’ organizations, groups thought to have the clout to steer policy and funding in Washington because they enjoyed bipartisan support and huge lobbying budgets have remained silent about Kennedy.
They haven’t spoken up even though he has accused them of fraud and conspiracy, and promised to hold them accountable.
That’s not because they aren’t worried, but because they didn’t think they could stop him— or think the cost of speaking out would be too steep, five people representing health groups, granted anonymity to speak candidly, said.
By staying mum, they hope to limit the fallout if Kennedy follows through on his plans to strip the industry to the studs.
“They think he’s the wrong person for the job,” said Dr. Georges Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, one of the few groups to openly decry Kennedy’s bid to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. “With good respect to all my buddies, they’re making the false assumption that if they stay silent, they will get something in return.”
The health care industry’s muted response to Kennedy is also a reflection of how much President Donald Trump has sacrificed traditional GOP constituencies to raise a populist, working-class revolt on the interests that once held sway in the capital— and how much Republicans in Congress have gone along.
Kennedy has suggested that hospitals, doctors and drugmakers work together to keep Americans sick, argued that industry influence needs to be ripped away from federal policymaking, insinuated that health institutions intentionally bury inconvenient evidence and proposed lopping off entire parts of the health regulatory structure.
And yet, the country’s most prominent professional society for doctors, the American Medical Association, has not taken a stance on Kennedy’s nomination.
Likewise, thePharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the brand-name drug lobby once seen as all-powerful in Washington, has only said it wants to work with Trump and his team.
Even the American Academy of Pediatrics, whose members provide the childhood vaccines Kennedy has claimed, in defiance of scientific consensus, cause autism, isn’t opposing him. The group launched a campaign to promote vaccination that coincided with Kennedy’s confirmation hearings, but it did not call for the Senate to reject him…..

South Fulton City Council member wants to ban dogs at City Hall, including the mayor's

• South Fulton City Council member Helen Willis is sponsoring legislation that would ban all animals from city buildings.
• The move would prohibit all animals, including Mayor Khalid Kamau's dog, Zion, from entering City Hall and other buildings.
• Mayor Kamau says his dog is a service dog and would be exempt from the legislation.
• The mayor got the purebred Shiba Inu three years ago when he was running for mayor.
SOUTH FULTON, Ga. - Meet South Fulton First Dog "Zion." This purebred Shiba Inu not only has a monthly party, he has his own website and Instagram page, too. South Fulton Mayor Khalid Kamau tells FOX 5 that Zion is a service dog who's almost always by his side. He appears friendly and pleasant, but not everyone has warmed up to him.

"Not everyone likes dogs!" Council member Helen Zenobia Willis (Dist. 3) exclaimed.
Willis says she is a dog lover, but has recently become allergic to them. She says she does not want to see the furry four-legged creatures inside places like City Hall. Willis has sponsored legislation banning animals from all city buildings, exempting civil service dogs.
"This has nothing to do with him running for mayor," said Willis. "We have tried to work with him. We have asked him to not bring the dog around certain settings." Willis says there have been complaints from city employees about the Mayor's happy-go-lucky dog, but she says the mayor continues to bring the dog to city events.
Just Monday, FOX 5 Atlanta crews witnessed Zion, off his leash, enjoying City Hall.
Mayor Khalid Kamau's dog, Zion. "Several other employees have expressed that they are fearful of this dog," Willis added. "The only way we can control anything that he does is to put policy in place." She claims she is simply protecting the city. "This city can not take on liability to play games with him. This dog has violated people," Willis concluded.
The other side: The mayor contends Willis is playing politics. "The same council woman who called to investigate my travel receipts, she tried to take my car," Mayor Kamau said. "So at this meeting, she's trying to take my staff and trying to take my dog."

The proposal ended up being pulled off of the table and was not voted on during Tuesday night's council meeting. Councilmember Helen Willis said she wanted more time to evaluate the issue.

NATO boss issues warning to Putin

When Trump hears about these threats to Putin and Russia, he might as well walk away from NATO, American troops in NATO will have to fight in Russia. The war was never about the shit country, they’ve wanted to invade Russia for decades and the only way they could do it, was kill Putin, and have NATO try to take it over, they fail to take into account the Russian people. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte warned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday thatthe US-led military blocwould deal a crushing blow to Moscow if it attacks any of its member states. (Stupid statement because Putin has never wanted a war with Europe or NATO.The best thing that could happen to stop this, Trump should invite Russia into NATO, this whole plan to steal all of Russia’s wealth will be over.)
In recent years, senior officials from European NATO member states, includingRutte, have alleged that Russia is harboring aggressive plans toward the military bloc. Putin has repeatedly dismissed this speculation, calling it “nonsense” and a ruse to justify increased military spending.
Answering reporters’ questions at a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday, Rutte said, “At the moment, if Putin would attack NATO, the reaction will be devastating. He will lose. So, let him not try it, and he knows this. The deterrence and defense is very strong.”However, NATO needs to spend more on defenseto be able to defend itself four or five years from now, he added.
Rutte urged member states to make “some difficult decisions this year about… defense spending, doing much, much more than the 2% we pledged.” He went on to say that while the West has “fantastic” arms manufacturers, “they are not producing enough,” which needs to be urgently addressed.
The question regarding supposed Russian aggression was prompted by a report issued by Denmark’s Defense Intelligence Service on Tuesday.
According to the document, within five years of ending or freezing the Ukraine conflict, Moscow would be ready to conduct a large-scale onslaught on Europe, based on the assumption that NATO’s defense spending remains at the current level.
“Russia is likely to be more willing to use military force … if it perceives NATO as militarily weakened or politically divided,” the intelligence agency claimed, adding that “this is particularly true if Russia assesses that the US cannot or will not support the European NATO countries in a war.”
Last month, Rutte similarly urged NATO member states to “shift to a wartime mindset” to “prevent war.”
Those who refuse to spend more on defense might as well “get out your Russian language courses or go to New Zealand,” the NATO secretary-general warned at the time.
In December, Rutte suggested that European member states should redirect some of the funds they currently spend on welfare toward their militaries.
On Tuesday, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) claimed that theUkrainian special services, with Western support, were preparing a false-flag provocation in the Baltic Sea involving Russian-made naval mines, in the hope of dragging NATO into a direct military confrontation with Moscow.
