House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., on Sunday said that Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky might need to resign following the heated Oval Office meeting with President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.
Johnson said Zelensky "needs to come to his senses and come back to the table in gratitude or someone else needs to lead the country to do that" so a peace deal can be reached with Russia and the U.S.
Johnson, who appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press," also said the mineral-rights deal that was not signed would have been beneficial for both the U.S. and Ukraine.
"This mineral rights deal is a win, a win for everyone. It will give us access to rare earth minerals that we need, and it will provide a level of security for Ukraine," he said. "They will effectively be in an economic partnership with us after that point, and we will definitely always defend our interests and our investments."
