A reporter for Alex Jones’ right-wing conspiracy website Infowars was killed near his Austin home late Sunday, Jones announced on a Monday broadcast.
Jones said reporter Jamie White, 36, was "brutally murdered" outside of a southeast Austin apartment complex Sunday night. White was shot and killed in the parking lot of the apartment complex where he lived in the 2300 block of Douglas Street, the Austin Police Department confirmed Tuesday.
"We sent some people over this morning when he didn't answer the phone, because he was always here early, loves to work, loves to fight tyranny, loves to promote freedom," Jones said during a Monday broadcast. "When they got to the apartment complex, there was yellow tape everywhere and blood all over the parking lot."
Detectives believe the gunmen were burglarizing White's car when he interrupted them. The suspects fled the scene and no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting as of Tuesday morning.

Jones said an officer at the apartment complex confirmed to fellow Infowars reporters White died at the hospital just after midnight Monday.
During his broadcast, Jones in part blamed White's death on recent budget cuts made to the Austin Police Department and decisions by Travis County District Attorney José P. Garza.
