'If you have integrity, nothing else matters': Alan Simpson, former U.S. Senator, dies at 93

CHEYENNE — Former U.S. Sen. Al Simpson, R-Wyo., famous for his quick wit and ability to work across the aisle in Congress, died Friday morning. He was 93 years old.
He died in Cody, surrounded by family and friends, after struggling to recover from a broken hip in December. Family members said his recovery was hindered by complications from frostbite to his left foot approximately five years ago. As a result, Simpson’s left leg was amputated below the knee as an unavoidable medical necessity.
Simpson made a name for himself in Congress for his folksy demeanor and saying what’s on his mind without any fear.
