Head of Prince Harry's Sentebale charity accuses him of 'harassment and bullying'

The head of Prince Harry's charity has accused him of 'harassment and bullying at scale' after calling the Sussex brand 'toxic'. Dr Sophie Chandauka, the chair of Sentebale, an organisation the Duke of Sussex co-founded,claimed that Harry 'unleashed the Sussex machine on me'.
In an astonishing message to Harry she said: 'The team is resolved that Sentebale will live on, with or without you.”In another interview, Dr Chandauka claimed shefirst felt tension between Harry and herself a year ago.
She said at one point she was asked byhis team to defend Meghan against negative publicity, but she refused.
Prince Harry dramatically quit Sentebale last week'in solidarity' with the charity's disgruntled trusteeswho resigned when relations with formidable Zimbabwean lawyer Dr Chandauka 'broke down beyond repair' after she refused their request to step down.
But in an extraordinary interview today she raised the stakes in the increasingly ugly dispute engulfing the charity,saying the Sussexes' 'brand' had hindered the charity.'The number one risk for this organisation was the toxicity of its lead patron's brand,' Dr Chandauka told the Financial Times.
She argued thatcontroversy surrounding Prince Harry since his move to the US had an impact on the charity's abilityto diversify its donor pool and make senior hires. 'When you start to interview people, they're asking questions about, well, these mixed messages around the patron,' she said.
Elsewhere she accused Harry andfellow co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho of trying to 'force a failure' of the organisation only to then come to its rescue.
In her first interview since the dispute erupted, Dr Chandauka issued an impassioned defence of her record. In another bombshell allegation, Dr Chandauka accused the Duke of Sussex 'harassment and bullying at scale'.
In a separate interview on Sky's Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips she saidthe Duke authorised the release of a statement revealing that he and other trustees had quit the charity, which she described as 'unleashing of the Sussex machine on me'.
Mr Philips asked her: 'What you're essentially saying is thatthe Duke of Sussex is guilty of harassment and bullying and improper conduct in the governance of the charity?'In response, she said Harry's release of 'a damaging piece of news to the outside world without informing me or my country directors' was an 'attack' and 'an example of harassment and bullying at scale'.
She added: 'And so if the world didn't want to believe that there's such a thing as bullying, this unleashing of theSussex machine on me and the 540 employees, at Sentebale, who received this and have had to defend it….'
At this point Mr Phillips interjected, askingwhat she means by the Sussex machine.Dr Chandauka replied: 'The PR machine that supports Prince Harry's efforts, the only way we discovered of his decision was through the Sussex machineactivating newspapers.'
It followed a statement last week fromSentebale - which was formed in 2006 in memory of Harry's late mother Diana to help Aids orphans in Southern Africa- suggesting 'people in the field' were more important than its trustees.
Igniting a poisonous internecine dispute, the charity said in a highly charged statement last week:'There are people in this world who behave as though they are above the law and mistreat people, and then play the victim cardand use the very press they disdain to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct.'
There was a deafening silence from Harry about the claims. But a source who has known the prince since the charity's inception told the Mail: 'There's no way of sugar-coating the damage of this, regardless of who's in the right. He'll be reeling.'
The charity also reiterated its commitment to supporting young people in the region without the support of its royal patron, who stepped back from his role in protest at the 'untenable' actions of Ms Chandauka.

A source close to the former trustees of the Sentebale charity described Dr. Chandauka's claims that she was bullied and harassed, briefed against by Prince Harry, or that the Sussex machine was 'unleashed on her' as 'completely baseless'.
Sentebale and its trustees are facing allegations of racism, sexism and bullying from Ms Chandauka.Sources say after the board of trustees formally requested Ms Chandauka's resignation she declined and then, when they tried to force the move through with a vote, she filed a legal challenge at the High Court to prevent their meeting.
While there is no formal record of proceedings at the Royal Courts of Justice,it is claimed that the court did not grant an injunction and, as the charity board meeting was ultimately cancelled, the judge decided that no further hearing or court appearance was necessary.
It is not clear where this leaves Ms Chandauka's legal challenge.Prince Harry is not personally the subject of any legal action in this matter.Representatives for Prince Harry have strongly denied he had sought to engineer the collapse of the charity in order to rescue it.
Ms Chandauka, who trained as a lawyer in London, told the FT that she has been on a mission to transform the charity. 'The way the organisation had been set up in 2006, was no longer appropriate in 2023 in a post-Black Lives Matter world,' she said.
She added that her changes triggered friction between UK-based staff and those in Lesotho, where most of the charity's 500-plus workforce are based.
The board, she said, felt 'a loss of power and control and influence… oh my goodness, the Africans are taking over'.
Far from being a bully herself, she insisted that during her time as chair she experienced 'disrespect, bullying and intimidation' and 'misogyny and misogynoir (misogyny directed at Black women)', allegations that have been vehemently denied.
There is no suggestion that Princes Harry or Seeiso were alleged to have behaved in this way.
Kelello Lerotholi, one of the trustees who resigned this week, told Sky News he did not recognise the allegations: 'I can honestly say, in the meetings I was present in, there was never even a hint of such.'
And Baroness Lynda Chalker of Wallasey, who served as a trustee for nearly two decades until November, has spoken of how Dr Chandauka 'almost dictatorial' style had led to clashes.
The origins of the dispute have been highly contested by both sides. Dr Chandauka said she first felt tension between Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and herself in April 2024.
Some sources insisted the dispute had nothing to do with personal animosity. 'There are real issues at hand that have been raised and not addressed,' said one.
'The trustees tried to negotiate this privately and requested she consider her position due to their lack of trust and confidence in her as a leader.'
Lawyers for Prince Harry have said there had been a breakdown in relations between the chair and key individuals, including some staff, trustees and major funders.
A Charity Commission spokesperson said: 'We can confirm that we are aware of concerns about the governance of Sentebale. We are assessing the issues to determine the appropriate regulatory steps.'
The charity's five former trustees, whoinclude Harry's long-time mentor Mark Dyer - a former army captain who accompanied him on his first gap-year trip to Lesotho- said in their resignation statement that 'we see no other path forward as the result of our loss in trust and confidence in the chair of the board.'
In an apparent further dig at Harry, Dr Chandauka addedthat 'for me, this is not a vanity project from which I can resign when I am called to account'.She said: 'I am an African who has had the privilege of a world class education and career. I will not be intimidated. I must stand for something.'
And she insisted that she would not step down from her role. One source close to the prince told the Mail that itwas a 'hugely sensitive' situation and urged people to see 'the facts play out'.
'The Charity Commission will investigate. That process needs to happen,'they said.

Tiger Woods has sensationally started dating Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-wife, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal. Woods, 49, and Vanessa Trump, 47, who both live in Florida, have been together since Thanksgiving and are quickly becoming golf's new power couple.
Four sources confirmed to DailyMail.com that the pair are an Item. They live 20 minutes apart in the wealthy southern Florida enclave of Palm Beach and were spotted together at a golf tournament last month.
Vanessa's eldest daughter Kai, 17, and Woods' children Charlie, 16, and Sam, 17, all attend the $38,595-a-year The Benjamin School.
Other members of the Trump family, including all five of Vanessa and Don Jr.'s children, are aware they are an item, one source said. A source said: 'Tiger and Vanessa have been seeing each other since just before Thanksgiving.
'She comes to his place on Jupiter Island. They’re not living together. She comes over maybe a few nights a week.
'They just love hanging out, having dinner and schmoozing together. They’re sticking close to home, have decided not to make it a thing and go out in public. Not just yet anyway.'
Since they officially split she has not had a high-profile relationship. Don Jr. has remained a close adviser to his father and helped take over much of the business.
Kai Trump and Charlie Woods are both aspiring golfers with sights set on turning professional. The two families appear to have become increasingly close.
Last month, at the PGA Tour's Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines in California, they were pictured arriving together. Kai, who committed to playing golf at the University of Miami next year, wore an outfit from Woods' clothing line.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is launching an investigation after a DailyMail.com report blew the lid off an air traffic controller cheating scandal.
The story published Wednesday exposed how a powerful figure in a massive federal aviation workers associationgave test answers to black and minority candidates ahead of a make-or-break test.The bombshell report revealed audio ofShelton Snow, of the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees(NBCFAE), promising to give answers in advance before prospects took difficult entry exams.
'I am about 99.99 percent sure that it is exactly how you need to answer each question,' Snow can be heard saying.
After reading the DailyMail.com exclusive about Snow,Duffy reposted the story on X and announced a new probe into diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
'I am launching a full investigation into the DEI hiring allegations at the FAA immediately,' the secretary wrote. 'If true, swift accountability will come for those responsible,' he said, noting the allegations first reported in the DailyMail.com story.
'We need the best and brightest, not buzzword, DEI hires,' he shared. A spokesperson for the secretary did not immediately elaborate on the forthcoming plans when reached for comment.
Duffy's investigation is a part of President Donald Trump's wider initiative to rid the executive branch of DEI. Already the Republican signed an executive order to dissolve DEI-related positions within government and billions of dollars worth of DEI related grants and projects have been canceled by Elon Musk's DOGE.
When signing the anti-DEI executive order thepresident stressed that hiring shouldn't be based on anything 'other than the brain.'
Snow, however, took the opposite approach, by allegedly providing advanced answers to a select group of people to give them a leg up.
'There are some valuable pieces of information that I have taken a screenshot of and I am going to send that to you via email,' says Snow, an air traffic operations supervisor based out of New York, in the clip obtained by DailyMail.com.
The inside info was made available in 2014 to black, females, and other minority candidates– but whites were left out of the loop to 'minimize competition.'
Exactly how many applicants were able to capitalize on Snow's brazen offerto secure coveted controller jobs responsible for the safety of millions of fliers remains unknown.
But one former NBCFAE member, Matthew Douglas, told DailyMail.com:'I know several people who cheated and I know several people who are controlling planes as we speak.'
The voicemail comes to light as President Donald Trump vows to purge DEI – diversity, equity and inclusion – from U.S. aviation, among other federal agencies, in the wake of the deadly midair collision at Reagan National airport in January that claimed 67 lives.
Snow's message was recorded just weeks after the FAA announced the biggest hiring shake up in its history during an Obama-era push to 'widen the aperture' for women and minorities.
As DailyMail.com exclusively revealed, thefederal government agency had controversially replaced its peer-reviewed cognitive exam with a 'biographical' quizasking things like 'how would you describe your ideal job' and 'classmates would remember me as humble or dominant?'
Critics say thequixotic blend of multiple-choice questions was designed to screen out elite, mostly white studentsfrom FAA-accredited college courses who excelled in traditional aptitude tests.

The then-President of the NBCFAE's Washington Suburban chapter contacted members in January 2014 with a list of HR 'buzz words' to insert into job applications. ==
‘These buzzwords will flag your resume==, thereby giving you the advantage over thousands of resumes that may flood the system,' he wrote.
At a separate teleconference, applicants were urged to highlight their association with the NBCFAE, the largest employee association within the FAA.
An agenda for the December 2023 powwow read: 'This is for us to know who our people are in the case thatwe have one of our own on the board?? .
'In the past we've always had one and they share our enthusiasm. Can you see the strategy.' It added:'We are only concerned about African-Americans, Women (of every ethnic background), and other minorities.
'Please ensure that you share this information with no one that is identified outside of that … this is to minimize competition.' Snow went further in a voicemail, teasing inside info that would prevent NBCFAE-affiliated applicants from flunking the questionnaire.
