Tesla drivers in King County are seeking other EV options
13 hrs ago
At least six demonstrations drew crowds this weekend in the Seattle area, and all were prompted by what was considered a global "day of action" under an effort titled "Tesla Takedown." Protestors joined others across the globe in speaking out against Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his role in the U.S. government.
The impacts of this backlash, however, can also be seen in Washington’s economy. In King County, Tesla registrations were down 33% in February, according to Department of Licensing data obtained by The Seattle Times.
The latest numbers come as Teslas are being targeted by vandals across Western Washington. For example, someone intentionally set a Tesla on fire on Capitol Hill earlier this month, according to police. A couple of weeks prior, six Cybertrucks were vandalized with swastikas in the Lynnwood area, and shortly after in Centralia, a Tesla charging station was spray-painted with the words “Nazi cars.”The vandalism is among the reasons local Tesla owners are now considering switching lanes. Carter Rabasa, head of developer relations at DataStax in Seattle, is one of those Washington drivers.
He told KING 5 he was no longer comfortable owning a Tesla.
"I traded in my Tesla Model Y for this Rivian R1S," Rabasa said, showing off his new electric vehicle……
so sad……
It's not odd.

Mysterious black ring seen floating over Seattle solved
yesterday
SEATTLE — Seattleites spotted a mysterious black ring over downtown over the weekend, prompting speculation over its origin.
Was it a UFO? A weird weather phenomenon? Turns out it was neither.
Posters took to social media on Saturday, sharing photos and videos of the cloud, which appeared to be a dark black ring circling a cloud and floating upward. Multiple angles show the ring south of downtown near Lumen Field.
The National Weather Service confirmed to KING 5 that the black ring was related to an event at Lumen Field and not due to a weather phenomenon.
One poster on Reddit claimed the source of the black ring was smoke from a Supercross event at Lumen Field. Video shows black smoke emitting from a pyrotechnics display on Saturday. Flames erupted from the pyrotechnics machine before motorcyclists took to the field in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. Video appears to show black smoke consolidating into a ring before leaving the video frame.
KING 5 has reached out to Lumen Field for more information about the smoke from the display.
KING 5 Meteorologist Ashley Ruiz said there were no air quality issues connected to the smoke, and there wasn’t an inversion in place that would trap smoke near the surface. On Saturday, temperatures were seasonal with partly sunny skies.
