Merely evolution. Remember we’ve had 2 million years of evolution as hominids and only the last 10k has been ‘civilized’ so we’re very close to our caveman selves. If women did not have strongly flaring emotions they’d probably abandon their offspring to the saber cats the first time it got colicky.
