Judicial Watch Sues Justice Department for Epstein Client Lists

Judicial Watch announced today it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice for records regarding Jeffrey Epstein, including any records on the identities of clients or associates of Epstein (Judicial Watch Inc. v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:25-cv-01056)).

Judicial Watch sued the Justice Department after it failed to adequately respond to four separate FOIA requests for records concerning Jeffrey Epstein, including a specific request for records “depicting the identities of clients or associates of Jeffrey Epstein.” Epstein document requests were sent to the Justice Department’s Office of Information Policy, the Criminal Division, and two separate requests were sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The Judicial Watch lawsuit references a February 24, 2025, Fox News report, which states that President Trump’s “return to the Oval Office came with the prospect of the public finally being able to see Epstein’s long-awaited ‘black book’ amid inquiries into the deceased financier and sex trafficker.”

Epstein died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

The Justice Department on February 27, 2025, released a long-awaited trove of documents related to Epstein. As stated by the New York Post: “But the much-hyped, roughly 200-page document dump provided no big revelations, instead listing celebrities and politicians who were already known to have palled around with the notorious pedophile.”

Trump extends Russia sanctions for 12 months

The US claims Moscow still represents an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to its national security

Washington placed punitive restrictions on Russia after it absorbed Crimea following a referendum held in 2014, and later over Moscow’s alleged meddling in American elections. The sanctions were drastically expanded following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022.

The latest extension approved by Trump and dated April 10, 2025, has been posted to the Federal Register’s website, announcing the “Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to Specified Harmful Foreign Activities of the Government of the Russian Federation.”

It refers primarily to Executive Order 14024 signed by former President Joe Biden in April 2021 in response to an “unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and the economy of the United States” presumed to be posed by Russia.

Among the “harmful” activities ascribed to Russia in the document are “efforts to undermine the conduct of free and fair democratic elections and democratic institutions in the United States and its allies and partners.”

Some of Moscow’s other alleged transgressions are attempts to “undermine security in countries and regions important to United States national security; and to violate well-established principles of international law, including respect for the territorial integrity of states.”

Late last month, the US president lamented that there was still “a lot of ill will between” Ukraine and Russia.

Trump has also threatened to impose new sanctions on Moscow if he deems Russia responsible for any failure in ceasefire talks on the Ukraine conflict.

Commenting on Trump’s threat, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said last week that “our dialogue with the American side is ongoing,” and that Moscow remains open to resolving the Ukraine conflict diplomatically.

Harvard Professors Sue Trump Administration to Block Review of Nearly $9 Billion in Federal Funds

(Leftist) Harvard University professors are suing to block the Trump administration’s review of nearly $9 billion in federal contracts and grants awarded to the Ivy League school.

The review is part of the government’s crackdown on what it says is antisemitism on college campuses.

The Harvard faculty chapter of the American Association of University Professors and the national arm of the academic organization said in a lawsuit filed on Friday in a Boston federal court that the administration was trying to unlawfully undermine academic freedom and free speech on the school’s campus.

The U.S. Department of Justice, which is defending the administration’s policies in court, did not respond to a request for comment on Saturday. Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Harvard declined to comment.

Harvard’s former President Claudine Gay told Congress in 2023 that calling for the genocide of Jews did not necessarily violate the schools code of conduct.

Gay was later pushed out after her toxic comments.

More 'Trump-Proofing' The War: Europe Pledges $23BN In New Military Support For Ukraine

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) pledged to send 21 billion euros ($23.7 billion) in future military aid for Kiev. Under the Joe Biden administration, Washington led the UDCG and was the largest contributor to the Western proxy war in Ukraine.

Following a meeting of the UDCG on Friday, the bloc announced the new military aid for Kiev. The majority of the aid was pledged by Berlin and London. Germany agreed to send Ukraine €11 billion over the next four years. The UK plans to send £4.5 billion this year.

The UDCG was formed and led by the US to facilitate Western support for the proxy war in Ukraine. After Trump returned to the White House, the US stepped back as the group’s leader. President Trump is making a major push to bring the war to an end with a diplomatic settlement. US and Russian officials met in Turkey on Thursday, with both sides describing the talks as positive. On Friday, Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, traveled to St. Petersburg to meet with President Valdimir Putin.

UK Defence Secretary John Healey accused Putin of misleading the US about Russia’s interest in ending the war. “Putin said he wanted peace, but his forces continue to fire on Ukraine,” he said.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who attended Friday’s summit, explained that Europe was now “taking the lead in security assistance for which we are thankful to the UK and Europe.” He noted that Washington has continued to send Kiev military aid.

Pistorius said Berlin’s pledge to send billions in weapons to Kiev over the next four years is because “Russia needs to understand that Ukraine is able to go on fighting, and we will support it.”

White applicants from a British or Eastern European background are at a disadvantage when applying for entry-level police constable roles at one of the U.K.’s largest police forces, according to reports by The Telegraph newspaper.

It has emerged that West Yorkshire Police permits Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates to submit job applications all year round, but White people must wait for specific recruitment drives, sparking accusations of positive discrimination.

The police force claims the move is designed to boost diversity numbers and make the police more reflective of the area’s multicultural society.

An internal whistleblower told the U.K. newspaper that Black and Asian applicants are labeled as “gold” category candidates and are encouraged to apply at any time. White candidates from Britain, Ireland, and Eastern Europe, meanwhile, are “bronze” applicants.

Rather than focusing on how qualified an applicant is, the branding effectively sees candidates prioritized initially purely on the color of their skin.

According to documents reviewed by The Telegraph, the whistleblower expressed concerns to senior management over the application process, stating:

“The process restricts progression opportunities for White British candidates, while individuals from other backgrounds are swiftly advanced through recruitment stages.”

“We are currently accepting applications for the two police constable entry programmes (uniform and detective) from people from our under-represented groups… If you are not from one of these groups, please keep checking this page for future recruitment opportunities,” reads the recruitment page of the West Yorkshire Police website.

The force, Britain’s fourth-largest, insisted that “enabling people from an ethnic minority background to apply early does not give them an advantage in the application process” and that all applications are held until recruitment is opened for everyone.”

It claimed the current system simply allows the force to “attract talent from a pool of applicants who reflect the diverse communities we serve.”

West Yorkshire, a county in the north of England, has become an increasingly diverse area of Britain with a large Asian population, particularly from India and Pakistan.

Police raid law office without warrant, threaten staff, seize CCTV footage

Photos, videos point to IDF responsibility for strike on UN guesthouse, Washington Post claims

The IDF previously reported that the UN workers were harmed while they were picking up landmines in Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip.

Explosions at a UN guesthouse in Gaza in late March, which killed one UN worker and severely wounded five others, were likely caused by two IDF shells, The Washington Post claimed Sunday, despite the IDF denying their findings.

The IDF told the Washington Post that it did not strike the guesthouse and added that the publication should “act with caution regarding unverified reports.”

The IDF told the Post in March that the aid workers were injured during the process of clearing landmines, not in an airstrike.

On March 19, employees from the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) arrived at a guesthouse in Deir al-Balah to examine potential damage to the roof of the structure. As UNOPS workers finished their work around midday, a shell burst in the air, killing Bulgarian aid worker Marin Marinov, 51, and injuring five other employees.

Minutes later, another shell went through the wall of the second-floor exterior wall and exploded inside the house, two UN staffers and a third person knowledgeable on the matter told the American publication.

Videos posted by the Associated Press show a person lying on the patio of the house in a pool of blood through broken trees and utility poles around the perimeter of the house as people yell at each other to call for an ambulance.

The Washington Post had three munitions experts review the AP footage of the strike along with several photos. The publication noted in its investigation that it was not allowed to publish the photos it reviewed.

The three experts said that the photos they were shown were consistent with two Israeli tank rounds. They said that a munitions round likely exploded outside, near the patio where the workers were sitting, based on the circular indentations on the house.

The experts cited by the Washington Post, including two former artillery officers for the British and American armies and one munitions researcher, added that photos from the interior of the guesthouse show an entry hole and a similar fragmentation pattern to the indents on the exterior.

Record number of migrants arrived in the UK in the first four months of 2025 in huge embarrassment for 'smash the gangs' Keir Starmer

A record number of migrants have crossed the English channel in the first four months of 2025, new stats reveal.

Despite Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's promise to 'smash the gangs' crossing from France on small boats, there have already been 8,064 arrivals so far this year.

On Saturday, a record 656 migrants were picked up attempting to illegally enter the United Kingdom - the highest number to cross in a single day so far in 2025.

The total figure of crossings this year is already higher than the 7,567 people who crossed the Channel over January, February, March and April in 2024 - at the time, a record number for that period.

It is also a jump on the 5,946 arrivals in the first four months of 2023, and the 6,691 in the same period in 2022.

The cumulative total for 2025 so far of 8,064 people is up 46% on this point last year as of Saturday (5,517) and 65% higher than at this stage in 2023 (4,899), according to stats produced by PA news agency.

The 656 people recorded to have made the journey in 11 boats on Saturday is also the highest number of arrivals on a single day so far this year.

Border Force vessels intercepted 11 rubber dinghies launched from French beaches yesterday, with an average of 60 people crammed into each boat. A further 50 people were picked up by French authorities after getting into difficulties off the Pas de Calais coast.

Catholic hospital argues 35-week unborn child was not a legal person in malpractice case

A Catholic health care provider in Iowa is arguing, in an attempt to limit its financial liability in a medical malpractice case, that a baby who died in the womb at 35 weeks’ gestation should not be considered a “person” under the law.

Iowa Capital Dispatch reports that Miranda and Landen Anderson filed a lawsuit after the stillbirth of their daughter, Eloise, in April 2021.

When she was 34 weeks pregnant, Miranda came to Pella Regional Health Center with high blood pressure, headaches, and edema, which are all signs of preeclampsia, a potentially life-threatening pregnancy complication for both mother and child.

Miranda was transferred to MercyOne’s Obstetrics Emergency Unit, part of Catholic Health Initiatives-Iowa (CHI), where she was monitored for two days before being discharged. Miranda returned for further evaluations in the days that followed, but she was again sent home.

On April 21, doctors could no longer detect a fetal heartbeat. The next day, Miranda delivered Eloise via cesarean section.

The Andersons’ lawsuit alleges that CHI and its physicians failed to recommend early delivery, a decision they say would have saved Eloise’s life. The case accuses the hospital of negligence in managing Miranda’s worsening condition.

CHI’s legal team argues that the family’s damages should be capped under Iowa’s 2017 malpractice law, which limits noneconomic awards to $250,000 unless there is “loss or impairment of mind or body.” According to CHI, that exemption does not apply to the loss of a fetus.

In court filings, CHI and MercyOne state that the law does not recognize an unborn baby as a “person” or a “patient,” asserting that the 35-week-old unborn child does not qualify for the damage exemption.

“There is no statute or binding case law finding an unborn child to be a ‘patient’ under the law,” CHI’s attorneys wrote, citing a 1971 Iowa Supreme Court decision which held that damages cannot be awarded “on behalf of, or for, a nonexistent person.”

CHI’s 2018 ethics guidelines state that it is committed to respecting “the sacredness of every human life from the moment of conception until death.”

Attorneys for the Andersons argue that this interpretation not only contradicts Catholic moral teaching but also ignores legislative intent. In 2023, Iowa lawmakers added “loss of pregnancy” to the list of exceptions for the damages cap. CHI claims this was an expansion of the law; the Andersons argue it merely clarified existing protections for unborn life.

The hospital is now seeking a court order to enforce the $250,000 damages cap. A hearing is scheduled for later this month. The full trial is set for May 12.

Iowa Capital Dispatch reports that a spokesperson for MercyOne said the hospital does not comment on pending litigation.

Massachusetts Democrat Rep. Arrested on Federal Embezzlement Charges

Massachusetts State Representative Chris Flanagan was arrested Friday morning on federal embezzlement charges after prosecutors alleged he stole approximately $36,000 from a former employer to cover campaign expenses, personal debt, and shopping purchases.

Trump's Unusual Pick for Joint Chiefs Chairman Approved by Senate in Overnight Vote

Lt. Gen. Dan Caine, who President Donald Trump plucked out of retirement to replace the Black general he fired as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has been confirmed by the Senate to become the nation's top general.

In the predawn hours Friday morning, the Senate voted 60-25 to approve Caine to get a fourth star and become the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

The approval will make Caine, who required a presidential waiver to bypass the statutory qualifications for the job, the first chairman who has not previously been a four-star general or admiral.

Australian politician is charged with multiple counts of assault against his wife

Nick McBride was charged with assaulting his wife

A prominent state politician has been charged with multiple counts of assault against his wife of more than three decades.

South Australian independent MP Nick McBride attended Adelaide's Norwood Police Station on Thursday, where he was charged with three counts of assault on a person known to him.

It's understood the member for MacKillop in the state's south-east was charged over allegedly assaulting his wife Katherine.

Ms McBride, an experienced nurse and one-time aspiring federal candidate, told the Adelaide Advertiser that she was 'okay' but did not wish to comment on the matter.

SA Police confirmed a man was charged with multiple offences.

'A 55-year-old man from the Limestone Coast was arrested on 10 April at Norwood,' a police statement read.

'He was charged with three counts of assault on a person known to him.

'He has been bailed to the Naracoorte Magistrates Court on 7 May.

'The matter is before the court and no further detail will be supplied.'
