Mark Zuckerberg Testifies in FTC Meta Monopoly Case, Revisits Instagram Acquisition

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stand in federal court on Monday to defend his company against the FTC’s allegations that it acquired Instagram and WhatsApp to create a social media monopoly.

Bloomberg reports that on the first day of a highly anticipated trial that has been years in the making, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg took to the stand to face questions from the FTC regarding the company’s acquisition of Instagram in 2012. The FTC argues that Meta, formerly known as Facebook, bought its way to a social networking monopoly by acquiring Instagram and later WhatsApp.

During his testimony, which lasted over three hours, Zuckerberg was forced to revisit a time when he doubted Facebook’s ability to compete in the mobile photo-sharing market. The FTC’s lead trial lawyer, Daniel Matheson, presented emails from 2010 to 2012 showing Zuckerberg’s concerns about Facebook falling behind Instagram in the mobile app boom. In one email from June 2011, Zuckerberg stated that Facebook needed to “get their act together quickly” to catch up with Instagram.

The FTC alleges that Meta’s purchases of Instagram and WhatsApp were “killer acquisitions” designed to eliminate competition and maintain a monopoly in the social media market. Matheson argued that after acquiring Instagram, Meta “fundamentally manipulated the experience” offered by the service to avoid cannibalizing its own more profitable Facebook product, a decision that “offends the policy” of antitrust laws.

The FTC believes that Zuckerberg was specifically seeking to take out rival social media sites focused on connecting with friends and family. Zuckerberg testified that while friends and family are an important component of Facebook, they are not the only focus. ‘Absurd’ Parliament Report Faces Backlash over Claims of No ‘Two-Tier’ Policing in Southport Riots

A Parliamentary report claiming that there was no evidence of “two-tier policing” in response to last year’s protests and riots over the Southport child murders has been blasted as “absurd” by commentators.

On Monday, the Home Affairs Committee in the House of Commons published a report which asserted that the police response to the unrest following the murder of three young girls at a Taylor Swift dance party by a Rwandan-heritage teenager was proportionate and did not demonstrate police bias.

The anger over the mass stabbing resulted in 246 protests and counter-protests across the UK, the report found, 88 of which were found to be “significant”. To date, there have been 1,804 arrests and 1,072 charges over the riots, including some for merely posting on social media.

Due to the extraordinary number of arrests, the government also embarked on a scheme to release criminals from prison to make room in Britain’s overcrowded jails to house those convicted over the riots.

The report, finding no evidence of bias, said per Sky News: “Those participating in disorder were not policed more strongly because of their supposed political views but because they were throwing missiles, assaulting police officers and committing arson.

“It was disgraceful to see unsubstantiated commentary about ‘two-tier policing’ undermining the efforts of police officers who served bravely in the face of violence.”

The chairwoman of the committee, Conservative MP Dame Karen Bradley, said: “There is a difference in how police must deal with violence and how they deal with peaceful protests.

“This needs to recognised by commentators who all too readily spread claims of ‘two-tier policing’. Organised disorder is rightly met with a robust response; any implied equivalence with planned non-violent protests is simply wrong.”

Today, the situation has flipped again. Inflation is cooling, yet interest rates remain painfully high. Subprime auto delinquencies are hitting levels not seen since the Great Recession. Small businesses are being squeezed. Housing affordability is a joke. But Powell refuses to cut. The Fed seems more focused on saving face than saving the economy.

This inconsistency isn’t just policy confusion. It reveals a dangerous flaw. When it should have been cautious, it was aggressive. When it needed to act decisively, it stalled. Now the economy is drifting in a high-rate fog, and middle-class households are paying the price. Monetary policy under Powell has been reactionary, not strategic—always a step late, always off tempo.

Markets crave clarity and stability. What they’ve received instead is a Fed that seems to drift with the political winds, refusing to admit mistakes while everyday Americans shoulder the consequences. The damage is real. Rate-sensitive sectors are buckling, credit is tightening, and confidence is slipping. The Powell era may go down not as the protector of price stability, but as its most unreliable steward.

Violent behavior was also 80 times more likely among the Covid-vaxxed.

Deadly brain clots are a staggering 3000 times more likely after an mRNA injection.

When compared to the flu shot, the study found that Covid mRNA-vaccinated people experienced:

WHO rehearses deadly mammothpox outbreak Telegraph

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently rehearsed a scenario in which an ancient virus lying dormant in the remains of a woolly mammoth caused a deadly global outbreak of “mammothpox,” The Telegraph has reported, citing documents about the exercise it had obtained.

The press release by the global health authority stated that earlier this month more than 15 countries took part in Exercise Polaris, which “simulated an outbreak of a fictional virus spreading across the world,” aiming to test readiness for a new pandemic.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned earlier this month that a new pandemic “could happen in 20 years or more, or it could happen tomorrow,” describing it as an “epidemiological certainty.”

The exercise reportedly simulated an outbreak of “Mammothpox,” a fictional virus similar to smallpox, a disease with a 30% mortality rate that was eradicated in 1980, and mpox, a dangerous variant of which is currently surging across central Africa.

Journalism's Blind Spot: Vaccine Safety & Scientific Rigor

If the drug in question is finasteride, and the outlet is The Wall Street Journal’s podcast The Journal, the answer is yes. In an episode titled "A Quick Fix for Hair Loss Is Making Some Men Sick," reporter Kate Linebaugh and her colleague Rolfe Winkler offer a thorough and, at times, harrowing portrait of young men suffering lasting damage after taking the drug for cosmetic reasons. They interrogate clinical trial methods, marketing practices, and regulatory oversight with admirable precision.

The same cannot be said for vaccines.

The paradox is not epistemic, it is cultural. What explains the asymmetry is not the evidence, but the narrative framing that dominates our medical discourse. Ordinary pharmaceuticals, even when prescribed by doctors and approved by regulatory authorities, are fair game for skepticism. But vaccines, especially those administered at scale and under the banner of public health, have acquired a kind of moral invincibility. Critique is construed as heresy.

Begin with methodology. As Winkler notes, many of finasteride’s most troubling effects, panic attacks, suicidal ideation, muscle atrophy, cognitive decline, were either missed or discounted in the drug’s original clinical trials. One endocrinologist interviewed suggests the trials were too short, too small, and too narrowly focused to detect longer-term or systemic harms. This is a familiar critique of pharmaceutical research. It is also, strangely, a critique that vanishes when the subject turns to vaccines.

Standard drug trials, if conducted properly, are randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, and long enough to detect both efficacy and safety issues. Yet most vaccines, particularly those given to children, have not been tested against inert placebos. The CDC’s own documentation confirms this. Of the 72 vaccine doses required under the current childhood immunization schedule, none have undergone the kind of rigorous placebo-controlled pre-licensure trials that would be standard for any other class of pharmaceutical.

Why does this matter? Because when clinical trial data are the sole bulwark against adverse events, the quality of those trials is non-negotiable. A saline placebo trial does not just measure whether a vaccine prevents illness, it measures whether it does so without causing other forms of harm. Without it, we are left comparing one intervention against another, with no true baseline.

The same problem afflicts older vaccines. The hepatitis B vaccine, for instance, was approved in the 1980s based on trials that used another vaccine—not saline—as the control. Ditto for DTP, MMR, and others. These foundational products were never subjected to the testing protocols we now consider the gold standard. The consequences, though rarely discussed in mainstream press, are not theoretical. Vaccine court settlements, while rare, have awarded billions to individuals harmed by vaccines. And yet, these settlements—unlike Winkler’s finasteride exposé—rarely reach the front page.

Encrypted app intelligence exposes sprawling criminal networks across Europe

Over 230 arrested as authorities dismantle drug pipelines and logistical structures

Law enforcement authorities across Europe and Türkiye have dismantled four major criminal networks responsible for fuelling the flow of drugs into the EU and Türkiye, following a series of coordinated raids supported by Europol.

These results were made possible by the continued exploitation of encrypted communication platforms, including Sky ECC and ANOM, which remain powerful tools in the hands of investigators.

Unmasking the drug pipelines into Europe

On 15 April, coordinated raids took place in several European countries and Türkiye, targeting both the leadership and logistical arms of these criminal networks. A total of 232 suspects have been arrested, including High Value Targets who played a pivotal role in drug trafficking and money laundering operations.

Investigations spanned multiple jurisdictions, with authorities in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain joining forces with Europol to disrupt the networks operating across the European continent.

Over the course of the investigations, over EUR 300 million worth of assets were seized in Türkiye and Europe, including 681 properties and 127 vehicles.

These criminal organisations – each operating independently but collectively wielding immense power – had established themselves as dominant players in the European drug trade.

Using both traditional smuggling routes and sophisticated logistics, the groups were linked to the seizure of at least 21 tonnes of drugs in Europe and Türkiye, including 3.3 million MDMA tablets. Investigators also exposed the groups' involvement in money laundering, violent crime and a wider network of organised criminal activity.
