Maybe on your planet but world wide they're still going strong! My iPhone rolled back to 3G connectivity today for a while, then went back to LTE. All phones still support 2G too.

I've been in this industry since the early 1980's, before digital cellular and the TACS system had more than 3 revisions before the network could be switched off! So far there have been 2 that I can recall for GSM and 1 for 3G, and there are still new devices operating on 2G being integrated into the networks! The subscribers are ALWAYS the ones that dictate when the true sunset occurs!
