In a powerful NBC interview, President Trump cleared all the rumors: he’s not running in 2028. He squashed the chatter, silenced all the speculation, and many believe that he just passed the torch, not just to a new generation of leaders, but to the future of the America First movement itself.

Trump lit the MAGA flame back in 2015. He gave a voice to the forgotten men and women, torched the globalist platform, and totally redefined what Republican leadership looks like. But Trump knows this movement is bigger than one man. It has to be, or we’re doomed. And if it’s going to survive and keep winning, it needs strong, serious fighters to carry the torch forward.

Trump didn’t outright name an official successor, but many believe he did symbolically pass the torch to two key figures: Marco Rubio and JD Vance, and he made it clear he holds both of these men in very high regard.

But Tucker Carlson sees it a little differently. He believes the only man who can truly carry on the spirit of Trumpism is JD Vance.

Right now, a lot of Trump supporters agree with Tucker that JD Vance is the strongest carrier of the Trump torch. But many also recognize that both Vance and Rubio are the most viable heirs to the MAGA vision. These aren’t guys just riding Trump’s coattails. They’re fighting for his agenda, pushing back against the Deep State, and making real moves to protect America’s future.

Marco Rubio has surprised a lot of people and exceeded many expectations. As Secretary of State, he’s standing shoulder-to-shoulder with President Trump, something we didn’t see from other Secretaries of State during Trump’s first term.

This interview has plenty of “read between the lines” moments, and it just might be the torch-passing moment people think it is. But one of the funniest lines had nothing to do with 2028; it was whenTrump said, Biden is the worst thing to happen to old people. Ouch…But President Trump’s not wrong about Biden, is he?

A migrant woman allegedly tried to sneak a drugged child across the southern border with a fake birth certificate Wednesday, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

ICE officers from the agency’s Homeland Security Investigations unit busted Gloria Lopez-Corona — a 24-year-old US resident from Mexico — as she was driving her car through the San Luis port of entry with a child in tow, according to court documents.Lopez-Corona claimed they were going to see her son’s father and his family in Los Angeles.

Agents spotted the child asleep in the back seat, “completely covered with a large, bulky blanket from head to toe.”However, the young boy wouldn’t wake from his “deep sleep” despite the officers’ search of the vehicle, the docs state.Feds later found “sleep gummies” they believe were used to sedate the child.

Lopez-Corona presented the border officers with a birth certificate, which listed her name as the mother and stated that the child was born in 2023.

After uncovering the child from beneath the blanket,they noticed that he looked to be four or five years old — and not two, according to the court documents. The child later told officers “that he was given gummies by his mother” and taken by a man to the US border by taxi, bus and plane.

At one point, the child said he was “taken to a place where there were other children” before he arrived in the US, where he was to reside “with another unknown man,” the documents recount.

The officers then determined that the birth certificate belonged to a different child, prompting Lopez-Corona to fess up that she wasn’t actually the kid’s mother. The woman claimed that “his mom has his birth certificate in Los Angeles.”

An officer had also asked Lopez-Corona to show a photo of her and the boy, but said she “struggled to find a photo of the two of them together” and presented photos that “looked nothing like the child asleep in the car seat,” according to the docs.Lopez-Corona eventually admitted to officers that “she did not know the child’s name” and that her actual child, a two-year-old, was back home in Mexico.

The woman claimed she was forced to smuggle the child into the US by a person who threatened her family, saying she didn’t alert the cops because “she did not trust the police in Mexico.” She claimed she was instructed to drive to a location, where the child was placed into a car seat in her back seat by an unnamed individual.

The woman was offered $1,500 to transport the child, but didn’t take the money, she said. Agents with Homeland Security Investigations arrested Lopez-Corona and charged her with alien smuggling.Officers were able to contact the child’s mother, Reyna Cecilia Hernandez Reyes, in Mexico, and bring her in for an interview, according to the documents.

Hernandez Reyes stated that she arranged to smuggle her child across the border illegally after her husband was smuggled in the same place three years ago.

Federal agents later discovered that her husband was deported three times before his last entry, the documents state. The mom admitted that “she understood the risk of handing her child off to a stranger, with the hopes of the child making it” to LA, claiming she knew “it was wrong,” but “that the decision had already been made, and it was now in the past.”

Hernandez Reyes gave her son to the same woman who smuggled her husband into the US on Monday evening, an arrangement coordinated by her husband.

The woman told her that her child would be dropped off at an undisclosed location in LA and that “she would not receive updates on the well-being of the child or the success of the smuggling scheme until the child’s arrival.”

Once her son made it to LA, Hernandez Reyes said the plan was to then have her smuggled to reunite with him for a payment of $18,000.Officers at the border returned the child to Hernandez Reyes, who they also charged with smuggling.

Hollywood Panics After Trump Proposes 100% Tariff on Movies Filmed Outside the U.S.A.

President Donald Trump responded to the continuing flight of movie production to other countries by floating a 100 percent tariff on films made outside the U.S. Many in Hollywood and elsewhere are not responding with gratitude but are, instead, lashing out at Trump’s proposal.

The film industry has been steadily fleeing Hollywood and California for more than a decade as locations in Georgia, Louisiana, New Mexico, and cities like New York and Chicago have been increasingly drawing productions their way. However, film producers have also been waving goodbye to the U.S. and taken up business in the U.K., Canada, Australia, and many spots in Europe.

California’s radical, left-wing, Democrat Gov., Gavin Newsom, has desperately tried to offer tax incentives to filmmakers, but the enticements are simply too little and too late for many producers. Film and TV production in the U.S. is already down 40 percent and that slide is continuing. The result has been that many film industry workers have lost their jobs, and some have been forced to move elsewhere to try and keep their livelihoods intact.

Now, Trump has stepped in to offer a tariff incentive to keep film producers from fleeing the country.

The president took to his Truth Social account to speak to his alarm about the decline of the film industry in the U.S.:

“The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death,” he wrote on Sunday. “Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated. This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat. It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda! Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands. WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”

Trump’s suggestion to help the film industry, though, is not sitting well with many in Hollywood and the global film industry, according to Variety, and many studio execs and film producers are blasting Trump over the tariff idea.

“This makes no sense,” one producer in the U.K. screamed, according to Variety. “It implies that a U.S. film is meant to shoot in the U.S. But the ‘Harry Potter’ films, ‘Lord Of The Rings,’ ‘Schindler’s List,’ ‘Mission Impossible,’ ‘Gladiator,’ ‘Aviator’ and so many more are U.S films that shot overseas for obvious reasons. Do these films have to shoot in the U.S. from now on? It’s an absurd announcement with no meaning nor understanding of storytelling or creative impulses.”

“If this goes the distance, it will decimate the industry. But you can’t just stop production,” another industry insider exclaimed.

Officials in France countered the president’s policy idea and said that film productions in their country are not even subject to tariffs in the first place because they are services, not products. “Technically, films are services on which you can’t impose tariffs. It could end up in court and take months,” one French film industry insider told Variety, while another insisted that “We don’t sell goods, we sell a service, so I don’t see how it could be taxable… It’s difficult to know what we’re talking about at this stage, what it concerns. It’s still very vague and with Trump things can change every day.”

Still, most in the film industry are taking a wait-and-see attitude on Trump’s tariff suggestion. Many say there is no way to logically react until something actually happensand that Trump’s social media post is not something they can make plans over. “We just have to wait and see what Trump’s next move is.It’s like in chess. We don’t know where this is going to go,” said Italian producer Marco Valerio Pugini.

Pugini also noted that some films simply can’t be made in the U.S.A. “But I think the U.S. studios will continue to shoot abroad when they want exotic locations. They aren’t going to start shooting James Bond in Detroit,” he joked.

Finally, another insider worried that heavy tariffs on filmmaking would lead to unwanted consequences. “Ultimately, it’s just going to push the studios to make much heavier use of A.I.,” said former Abu Dhabi film chief Hans Fraikin. And others warned that such a tariff would speed global fim production to disassociate with the U.S. entirely.

A group of young people reportedly connected to the violent Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang brawled with police in Times Square on Friday.

Police sources told the New York Post the migrants were accused of trying to rob two people when the group attacked officers after a boxing match in the Crossroads of the World.

Police nabbed three suspects on Sunday.One of them was a 12 year old “ring leader.” The law enforcement source said the group were linked to TdA’s offshoot called Diablos de la 42.

“At least three in the mob were already sought for a string of shocking robberies in Central Park — and were caught red-handed trying to pull off another heist when two cops intervened, they said,” the outlet continued.

Video footage of the brawl from Viral News NYC shows the young people fighting with police officers. It appears some of them were throwing items at them as others shouted:

The charges against some of the suspects included obstructing governmental administration, riot and menacing, assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

However, the 12 year old was released pending a family court hearing while three others are now being investigated.

“Police said the migrants were all living at Manhattan’s Row Hotel, one of dozens of sites throughout the Big Apple housing asylum seekers at taxpayer expense,” the Post article noted.

In February, officers arrested two suspected TdA members on felony drug and gun charges in New York City, but they were freed without bail. They had also apparently been living at migrant shelters in the city that previously operated as hotels.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has said Venezuelan government officials in Dictator Nicholas Maduro’s regime may be using TdA members to destabilize countries including the United States, according to Breitbart News.

In addition, the outlet reported in April that “President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has deported hundreds of illegal alien gang members, now classified as foreign terrorists, in the first 100 days of the new administration.”

Cuban Illegal Alien Arrested at New Mexico Border Patrol Checkpoint with ‘Disturbing Criminal History’

Border Patrol agents at a New Mexico interior immigration checkpoint arrested a Cuban illegal alien with what officials called a “disturbing criminal history.” The Cuban national’s criminal history includes murder and other violent crimes, Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks reported on social media.

Chief Banks posted a report on social media that New Mexico Border Patrol agents encountered a Cuban migrant illegally present in the United States on April 29. During a records check, the agents discovered an extensive criminal history and took the man into custody.

Banks stated that agents arrested the Cuban national for a violation of 8 USC 1253 relating to a final order of removal. During a background investigation, the agents discovered the following criminal history, Banks said:

• Murder

• Negligent Homicide

• Shooting from a motor vehicle

• Tampering with evidence

• Possession of a controlled substance

• Carrying a prohibited weapon

Banks emphasized the importance that the interior Border Patrol checkpoints play in “keeping our community safe from violent criminals.”

Later that day, Banks reported the arrest of a“recently deported high-ranking member” of the Paisas prison gang as he attempted to illegally re-enter the United Statesnear San Luis, Arizona. The chief said the gang member was just deported two weeks earlier after he served more than five years in prison for auto theft.

Illegal re-entry after being deported is a federal offense that is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

“Border Patrol agents stay vigilant on the frontlines to detect and apprehend these criminals that try to sneak into our country,” Banks stated.

Swiss university secretly ran AI experiment to manipulate minds

Reddit is considering suing the University of Zurich for using chatbots to sway users’ opinions on hot-button topics

A major Swiss university has come under fire for running a secret experiment on users of social media platform Reddit to test how artificial intelligence (AI) could be used to influence their opinions. The platform has said it is considering legal action.

According to media reports, a group of researchers at the University of Zurich in recent months conducted an unauthorized study onr/ChangeMyView, one of Reddit’s largest debate communities. The experiment involved AI chatbots posing as regular users and engaging in discussions on controversial issues. (How many times have we seen Change My View here on 8kun?)

The bots, whose accounts have since been banned, posted more than 1,700 comments across the subreddit. They adopted fake identities such as a male rape victim downplaying the trauma of his assault, a Black man opposing the Black Lives Matter movement, and a domestic trauma counselor claiming the most vulnerable women were those “sheltered by overprotective parents.”

Another bot was used to scan user profiles and deliver personalized arguments in response.

The researchers disclosed the experiment to subreddit moderators several months after it had taken place, calling it “a disclosure step in the study.”

In a statement posted last week, Reddit’s moderator team has said the platform prohibits the use of undisclosed AI-generated content or bots. Reddit’s chief legal officer, Ben Lee, said neither the company nor the r/ChangeMyView moderators had prior knowledge of what he called an “improper and highly unethical experiment.” He added that Reddit was preparing formal legal demands to send to the University of Zurich and the researchers involved.

The researchers said the study had been guided by principles of “ethical” research and transparency. (f’kn lieif it was ethical they would have gotten permission. It's like the Nazi's ethical surgeries.)

The university ethics committee had argued that the research had caused little harm. Still, users on the subreddit reacted with shock and anger over being unknowingly experimented on.

The journal Science cited an emailed university statement as saying the researchers have decided not to publish the results. The university said it would investigate the incident.

The use of AI bots – fake accounts designed to mimic real users – has grown steadily across social media platforms in recent years. Experts say they are increasingly used to shape public opinion, particularly around elections.

Western governments, primarily the US and the UK, have long accused Russia of operating large-scale ‘bot farms’ to interfere in their election processes – accusations Moscow has repeatedly denied. However, some Western actors have come under scrutiny themselves for using bots in disinformation campaigns, while publicly warning about foreign interference.

Türkiye arrests Russian pension fund theft suspect – media

Islam Seinaroyev and his accomplices are believed to have stolen around $24.5 million from the state

The Turkish authorities have detained a former high-ranking official of the Russian Social Fund (SFR) who is wanted in his home country on suspicion of large-scale embezzlement, the RTVI broadcaster has reported.

Investigators believe Islam Seinaroyev, who headed the SFR’s branch in Russia’s Republic of Ingushetia from 2012, was among the leaders of a criminal group which stole more than 2 billion rubles (around $24.5 million) in state money between 2019 and 2021 by illegally recalculating pensions without informing residents.

Sources told RTVI on Monday that Seinaroyev had been detained in the Turkish port and resort city of Antalya on the country’s Mediterranean coast. He did not resist arrest, the source added.

The Turkish authorities are now preparing to extradite the former official to Russia, according to the broadcaster.

The sources claimed that Seinaroyev had “felt completely safe” in Türkiye, where he engaged in business activities such as wholesale supplies of strawberries and bananas, and renting out his real estate.

A Moscow court issued an arrest warrant for Seinaroyev in October 2023 after he fled abroad.

Another alleged key figure in the fraud scheme that involved around 40 people – the former head of the Russian Post branch in the republic, Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov – has been in custody in Russia since May 2024. Kalimatov faces up to 20 years in prison if found guilty of embezzlement and organization of a criminal group.

Russia and Türkiye signed a deal on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases and extradition in 2014, with Moscow ratifying it three years later. Last year, Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov said the law enforcement agencies of the two nations have “established productive working relations,” stressing that Ankara “has begun actively extraditing persons” wanted by Russia.

‘We look for partners not preachers’ – Indian foreign minister

S. Jaishankar has called out the hypocrisy of European countries pressuring New Delhi over ties with Moscow

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has rebuked European leaders for their hypocritical attitude when it comes to the South Asian nation.

“When we look out at the world, we look for partners, not preachers – particularly preachers who do not practice at home what they preach abroad,” he said at the Arctic Circle India Forum on Sunday.

Jaishankar was commenting on Europe’s difficulty in achieving “strategic autonomy,” highlighting the continent’s reliance on the US for security, Russia for energy, and China for trade, all of which he implied is being challenged by current global realities.

At the forum, the minister spoke of the constraints impacting India’s ties with Europe, while acknowledging that New Delhi’s relations were better with some nations on the continent and worse with others.

“But from our point of view, if we are to develop a partnership, there has to be some understanding, there has to be some sensitivity, there has to be a mutuality of interest and there has to be a realization of how the world works,” Jaishankar said. “And I think these are all work in progress to differing degrees with different parts of Europe. So some have moved further, some a little bit less.”

The Indian Foreign Minister also stated that previous attempts from the West to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict without involving Russia, “challenged the basics of realism.”

In contrast, he said India had a pragmatic approach to its relationship with Russia, which he termed “Russia realism.”He emphasized that this is based on the strong synergy between India and Russia, noting that they have a mutually beneficial partnership, with Russia serving as a key resource provider and India as a significant consumer.

Despite Western concerns, India has strengthened its diplomatic ties with Russia and actually increased its imports of Russian crude oil throughout the Russia-Ukraine conflict, demonstrating New Delhi’s commitment to an independent foreign policy.

A former Bellingcat operative, known under the alias Daniel Romein, has allegedly taken his life after being sentenced to prison for sexually abusing his own daughter.

Romein has been involved in the investigation of the MH17 crash by the Western-funded “open-source intelligence” group, as well as in the Stop Child Abuse initiative, dedicated to geolocating explicit materials involving minors.

The bombshell revelation was first made by independent Dutch journalist Eric Van De Beek last month, with the affair further explored in a piece released by the Grayzone last Friday. Van De Beek denied that Romein died from a “cardiac arrest” in December 2022, stating a close friend confirmed the Bellingcat operative took his own life.

The child porn researcher, who worked for Bellingcat between 2014 and late 2019, was sentenced to 36 months in prison earlier that year for prolonged sexual abuse of his daughter, the journalist claimed, citing an anonymized court case on the matter. The case was released by Dutch authorities only in March this year after repeated inquiries by independent media, Van De Beek noted.

The case details the abuse the daughter of the defendant experienced roughly between October 2011 and October 2016, when she was six to 10 years old. The material offers an extremely graphic depiction of the relationship between the father and his underage daughter, which involved oral sex, genital rubbing, and other sexualized behavior.

The affair was exposed years later when the defendant’s daughter disclosed it to her mother and stepfather. The court’s materials quote a lackluster letter of apology sent by the defendant to his daughter when the affair became public, in which he appeared to blame her.

The case also reveals the defendant was convicted of possession of child pornography “over 15 years” prior.

Inquired by the Grayzone, Bellingcat founder Eliot Higgins denied that Romein’s firing in December 2019 was related to his pedophilic endeavors. However, the group’s founder “tacitly acknowledged” the researcher was the target of the sexual abuse allegations. “It is not clear whether the [court] judgment is about Mr. Romein, as it is anonymized,” he told the outlet in a mailed statement.

In August 2021, Romein was stripped of his European Press Prize, awarded for his work on the Stop Child Abuse project. At the time, the Netherlands-based non-profit cited “unidentified substantiated complaints” from different individuals as the reason for its decision. When asked by Grayzone if the complaints were related to sexual abuse, Higgins stated they were due to the researcher’s “unacceptable online behavior.”

Despite advertising itself as an investigative group specializing in fact-checking and open-source intelligence, Bellingcat has been receiving state funding from multiple Western states. This has raised questions about its credibility, with Moscow, for instance, having squarely accused it of working closely with Western intelligence services to “put pressure on either [Russia] or individuals and entities.”

INDIA – India has sided with the United States (US) President Donald Trump on the trade war with Xi Jinping of China. Reports indicate that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready to accept all conditions of the US in a trade deal.

Trump raised tariffs on most Chinese imports to 145%, citing the need to reduce the trade deficit and encourage domestic manufacturing.

In retaliation, China has imposed 125% tariffs on US goods and implemented non-tariff barriers, including export controls on critical rare-earth elements.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Trump in the White House in February 2025.

After the meeting, the leaders announced they would pursue a “framework” for greater cooperation.

“ Prime Minister Modi and I have agreed that we will be in negotiations to address the long-running disparities,” Trump said.

“But really, we want a certain level of playing field, which we really think we’re entitled to.”

On the other hand, Modi said India and the US will have a MEGA partnership for prosperity.

He said India is working towards a Viksit Bharat, which in the American context translates into MIGA.

“An excellent meeting with Trump at the White House. Our talks will add significant momentum to the India-USA friendship,” Modi said.

In response the pro-NATO/EU prime minister has announced his resignation.

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced his resignation on Monday, a day after the governing coalition’s joint candidate failed to advance to the runoff in the closely watched rerun of the presidential election.

The coalition’s candidate, Crin Antonescu, was third in Sunday’s first round, far behind top finisher hard-right nationalist George Simion and pro-Western reformist Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan.

“Rather than let the future president replace me, I decided to resign myself,” the prime minister told reporters after a meeting at the headquarters of his Social Democratic Party, or PSD.

Sunday’s rerun underscored strong anti-establishment sentiment among Romanians and signaled a power shift away from traditional mainstream parties. It also renewed the political turmoil that has gripped the European Union and NATO member country. (more)
