China is pushing back hard against new Western criticisms of its foreign policy, as French President Emmanuel Macron and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth went on the attack, hurling sharp criticisms at Beijing during the ongoing Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore, which noticeably China’s Defense Minister Dong Jun chose to skip.

A fresh, strident Chinese denunciation was formulated at the United Nations in New York. Beijing typically is very careful with its Ukraine war statements, seeking to present itself as an outside, neutral and objective mediator, urging peace. But now Chinese officials are blistering angry over the ramped-up anti-China messaging coming from Washington and Europe. The rhetoric is clearly getting less restrained on all sides, as increasingly hot spots in Eastern Europe get closely linked to Asian flashpoints.

Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations blasted the United States for playing proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, saying Washington bears "major responsibility" for the outbreak of the conflict.

China’s ambassador to UN further underscored that Beijing "has never provided lethal weapons" to any side US should "stop boring blame game" and instead focus on achieving peace.

"It is not conducive to achieving a cease-fire and ending the war, and runs counter to the common expectations of the international community," he told the Security Council.

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Indo-Pacific nations to establish a “new coalition” to counter the “constraints and side effects” stemming from the growing U.S.-China rivalry. –CNBC

"We urge all parties to actively forge an atmosphere conducive to peace talks by creating conditions and providing support. We also call on the parties to the conflict to work collectively toward de-escalation and a political solution, rather than persisting with military confrontations and attacks."

"Just now, the US Representative, once again, spread misinformation and smeared China. This is utterly unacceptable," said Geng, according to Xinhua. Hegseth's message in Asia was apparently coming through loud and clear via US representatives in New York on Friday. The Trump administration has of late held the threat of further sanctions over both Moscow and Beijing, given the export of 'dual-use' (military/industrial) Chinese items to Russia.

Cicada Swarm Begins Rare Emergence In Eastern US After 17 Years Underground

A rare mass emergence of cicadas is underway across the eastern United States as Brood XIV—one of the largest 17-year periodical cicada broods—surfaces for the first time since 2008.

Found only in eastern North America, periodical cicadas are known for their long underground life cycles, synchronized mass emergences, and piercing mating calls, according to researchers at the University of Connecticut.

As Chase Smith reports for The Epoch Times, Brood XIV is considered a keystone brood because of its size and central role in cicada evolution.

Researchers say it may have given rise to nearly all other 17-year broods through rare timing shifts known as “four-year jumps.”

This year’s emergence spans a wide area, including parts of Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York state. Disjunct populations also exist in places like Cape Cod and Long Island, though scientists say those groups may be in decline.

University of Connecticut researchers are urging caution when interpreting sightings this year due to the presence of “stragglers,” cicadas that emerge early or late compared to their expected brood. These misaligned appearances, along with a phenomenon called “shadow brooding,” may confuse mapping efforts and lead to mistaken conclusions about the size or expansion of Brood XIV.

Accurate data is critical, researchers said, because Brood XIV plays a key role in understanding the distribution of other broods. Its interactions with adjacent broods, like Brood VI, X, and I, are still being studied, particularly in areas such as southwestern Ohio, northeastern Tennessee, and northern Kentucky.

The cicadas began appearing in April in Southern states and are expected to continue emerging through June in Northern regions as soil temperatures 7 to 8 inches below ground reach about 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Their emergence is typically triggered by warming weather. Once above ground, the insects climb nearby trees, molt into adults, mate, and die within several weeks.

Eggs hatch six to 10 weeks later, and the tiny nymphs fall to the ground to begin another 17-year cycle.

Periodical cicadas are not harmful. They do not bite, sting, or carry disease. While they may damage young saplings during egg-laying, they are not considered pests and do not require pesticide treatment. Most adults feed briefly on woody plants before dying.

All eyes have been on Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, but Alex Soros’ meddling has gone largely unnoticed as his mingling with America’s elite makes headlines.

Alex’s involvement in the country was a long time coming.

The Open Society Foundations has invested at least $230 million Ukraine since 1991. Among George’s activities in Ukraine have included funding the Maidan Protests that led to the election of Petro Poroshenko. This was followed by George being put on Ukraine’s National Investment Council. The Council is now headed by Zelensky, and there’s been no reporting to indicate that George ever left it.

Since the war escalated, Alex has become a cheerleader for it, which he’s played an active role in, both trying to shape policy in America in the Biden administration to the benefit of Ukraine, and to cement a role for himself in a post-war Ukraine.

He’s boasted access – quite publicly, to the entirety of the Zelensky administration.

Alex has had at least four meetings with Andriy Yermak, Zelensky’s “right-hand man” that he appointed to be Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. In addition to being Zelensky’s Chief-of-Staff, he’s also part of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s higher command and control body.

According to the Kyiv Post, Yermak is the second most influential person in Ukraine, and no one in the country is closer to Zelensky than he is.Yermak has been is plagued by corruption allegations. Just a month after he became Chief-of-Staff, video surfaced showing his brother discussing appointments to government jobs, suggesting he could use position to get people those cushy jobs. An investigation into Yermak’s brother was later dropped by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, which the OSF were active supporters of the creation of.

The corruption whiff around Yermak? Alex doesn’t care; it’s a feature, not a bug. A greased wheel for a machine that thrives on chaos.

During Trump’s first term, Yermak was contacted by Giuliani, who urged him to open an investigation into Hunter’s role at Burisma, which he refused to cooperate in and personally advised Zelensky to not get involved in, protecting Joe Biden.

Alex and Yermak met in Kyiv on November 7, 2023, December 9, 2023 and May 13, 2024, and August 27, 2024. The two were also pictured together at Davos in January 2025. On social media, Alex touts a close relationship with Yermak. There, they publicly exchange birthday wishes and compliments like old friends.

Meetings with Zelensky himself were in the cards.

Pesticides Are Making Farmers Sick. Big Chemical Doesn’t Want To Pay For It.

Pesticide immunity bills, which make it harder for people to sue pesticide companies even if they believe a product caused serious health problems, have been proposed in Florida, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Wyoming. Similar bills have already been signed into law in North Dakota and Georgia.

Ray Bickel spent over a decade driving a truck through giant corn and soybean fields in Clinton County, Iowa, applying pesticides. He says it was good work, while it lasted.

In 2017, he had a heart attack. The doctors ran tests to find out what caused it and found something else. “He was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, which is blood and bone marrow cancer. And he was diagnosed with stage three rectal cancer,” his wife, Margarette Bickel, said.

Doctors suggested it could be because of his years working with Roundup, a widely-used herbicide. Now he is one of many farmers suing the maker, Monsanto, which is owned by Bayer.

“It was a very successful chemical,” Ray Bickel said, claiming it did the job — controlling weeds and producing good crops. “It worked well for the farmers. I actually liked to spray it.”

Bickel worked with Roundup from 1974 to 1988 at various farms, according to his complaint.

Farmers use herbicides like Roundup to kill weeds, preventing them from destroying crops. They plant genetically modified corn and soybeans that are resistant to the chemical, and when it’s sprayed, the weeds die while the crops flourish. Herbicides like Roundup are widely used on American corn and soybean farms.

“Roundup, glyphosate, has been a major, if not the only, product that we use. It helps preserve the soil, helps keep the water cleaner, and so we need to have that,” said Dave Struthers, district five director for the Iowa Soybean Association. “It’s been a low-cost, effective product. We need to keep using it.”

But in recent years, Bayer, which now manufactures Roundup, has faced approximately 181,000 lawsuits claiming that this pesticide, particularly its main ingredient, glyphosate, causes personal injuries, including cancer.

To combat the onslaught of litigation, Bayer has been pushing legislation in nine states, including Iowa and Missouri, that would shield the company from liability.

Bickel filed a lawsuit against Bayer in 2024, claiming his exposure to it caused him to get cancer. While the process has just started, his family hopes to get justice, if not reclaim lost time.

Migrants Receiving Nearly £1 Billion in Universal Credit Welfare Benefits Per Month in Britain

Migrant households are receiving nearly £1 billion in welfare benefits per month in Britain, a report has claimed.

According to The Telegraph broadsheet, citing government figures from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), households with at least one foreign national in March received £941 million in universal credit, a welfare scheme in Britain for low-income or unemployed people to help them cope with their cost of living.

This was up from £461 million just three years ago, demonstrating the cost of the post-Brexit mass migration policies implemented by the Conservative Party under Boris Johnson, which saw net migration climb to a record of 906,000 in 2023.

The paper noted that the soaring cost of migrants on the universal credit scheme represented 15.5 per cent of all payments in March.

Migrants become eligible to receive universal credit welfare once they receive residential or refugee status in the country. However, the total cost to the taxpayer of foreigners is much higher, as the figure does not account for the toll on other programmes, including healthcare, education, and housing.

Indeed, a recent study from the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) found that housing alleged asylum seekers — many of whom entered the country illegally — has risen to around £4.7 billion annually.

Israel decided to block a delegation of Middle Eastern foreign ministers led by Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat from making a landmark visit to the West Bank, a senior Israeli official confirmed to The Times of Israel on Friday.

The foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan were slated to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Sunday.

The senior Israeli official said that the PA was planning to use the delegation’s visit to “promote the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

“Israel will not cooperate with moves designed to harm it and its security,” the Israeli official asserted, claiming that a Palestinian state would become “a terrorist state in the heart of the Land of Israel.”

The Arab ministers were not planning to visit Israel, but because Israel controls the borders of the West Bank, its approval is required for them to enter the territory.

The visit by Prince Faisal bin Farhan was supposed to be the first by a Saudi foreign minister since Israel took over the West Bank in 1967. The ministers were supposed to arrive in Ramallah via helicopters from Jordan, a source familiar with the matter said.

Our “democracy” is controlled by money, not by the people

I feel like this should be incredibly obvious, yet it needs to be stated.

This is a world where money and those who have it control politics.

Anyone who tries to go against it gets undermined and suppressed.

In the United States 2016 election, there was Sanders, who supported a nicer version of capitalism, free healthcare, etc. The DNC rigged him out, so we got Clinton vs Trump. Of course neither candidate would do literally anything to get rid of our current plutocracy. The supposed “left-wing” candidate Obama didn’t do much either after all. Either way, Trump won. And that’s why we have what we have right now.

In the UK, Corbyn was a similar left-wing candidate. However, his own party undermined him, calling him antisemitic (for opposing the Israeli genocide in Gaza). His party lost. Nowadays, the UK has bad and unpopular prime ministers.

In France, the same thing happened with Mélenchon.

Then in the US it happened again. Sanders ran again and was even 1st place in the primary, but democrats rallied around Biden (3rd place) and got all of the other candidates to drop out. Biden still won the elections against Trump, but just barely. As president he did absolutely nothing to improve the current system. Either way, 4 years later they didn’t even allow a primary, and Trump won (see recent events). Trump is a billionaire, and I don’t think I have to say why billionaires don’t care about the poor.

And the people I mentioned in the post aren’t even that left. They’re social democrats. But all of these supposedly “left” parties would rather have a government controlled by an evil far-right billionaire rather than anyone who could in any way even try to undermine the power of the capital.

24 Azov Members Have Been Sentenced In Russia

More than two dozen members of the Azov group have been sentenced to long prison terms in Russia. Some of the convicted were captured, others were detained at different times while trying to leave the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

The following persons were sentenced to terms ranging from 13 to 24 years: Alexandr Irkhi, Yaroslav Zhdamarov, Alexandr Merochenets, Oleg Mizhgorodsky, Anatoly Gritsyk, Alexei Smykov, Alexandr Mukhin, Artur Gretsky, Nikita Timonin, Oleg Tyshkul, Oleg Zharkov, and Artem Grebeshkov.

The rest of the defendants were sentenced in absentia, as they had previously been exchanged for Russian servicemen held captive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among them are nine women. Eight of them, Lilia Pavrianidis, Alyona Bondarchuk, Nina Bondarenko, Lilia Rudenko, Elena Avramova, Vladislava Maiboroda, Marina Tekin and Irina Mogitich, were listed in the terrorist organization as cooks.

Natalia Golfiner worked as the head of the food warehouse. Due to the large number of female defendants who served in Azov as cooks, the case was called the “cooks’ case” in the Russian media.

The highest sentence of 24 years in prison was imposed on senior lieutenant David Kasatkin (call sign Khimik), known for brutally torturing Russian prisoners of war.

The latest undercover video from James O’Keefe’s O’Keefe Media Group (OMG) revealed a Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) official admitting to using a loophole to conceal child sex change operations from parents.

Deshaun Eli Mack, identified by OMG as a Family Services Specialist with the Nevada DHHS, told an undercover journalist at OMG that he has assisted minors in obtaining sex change treatments “a lot of times.” He explained an instance of helping a trans-identified male seeking “feminization surgery,” including advising the minor that “the best way to get it would be to make sure that your doctor says that it’s medically necessary. So that Medicare pays for it.”
