WASHINGTON— President Trump shockingly said Friday that he would be open to pardoning Sean “Diddy” Combs — currently on trial in Manhattan for alleged sex trafficking and other crimes.

“Nobody’s asked. But I know people are thinking about it. I know they’re thinking about it. I think some people have been very close to asking,” Trump, 78, said during an Oval Office press conference with Elon Musk.

Combs, 55, was arrested in September and has been held without bail on federal charges.

“First of all, I’d look at what’s happening, and I haven’t been watching it too closely, although it’s certainly getting a lot of coverage,” Trump said.

“I haven’t seen him, I haven’t spoken to him in years. He used to really like me a lot, but I think when I ran for politics… that relationship busted up, from what I read. I don’t know — he didn’t tell me that, but I’d read some little bit nasty statements.”

The U.S. Court of International Trade incredibly ruled against the United States of America on desperately needed Tariffs but, fortunately, the full 11 Judge Panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Court has just stayed the order by the Manhattan-based Court of International Trade.

Where do these initial three Judges come from? How is it possible for them to have potentially done such damage to the United States of America?

Is it purely a hatred of “TRUMP?” What other reason could it be?

I was new to Washington, and it was suggested that I useThe Federalist Societyas a recommending source on Judges.

I did so, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb ofa real “sleazebag” named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America, and obviously has his own separate ambitions.

He openly brags how he controls Judges, and even Justices of the United States Supreme Court — I hope that is not so, and don’t believe it is!

In any event, Leo left The Federalist Society to do his own “thing.” I am so disappointed in The Federalist Society because of the bad advice they gave me on numerous Judicial Nominations.

This is something that cannot be forgotten!With all of that being said, I am very proud of many of our picks, but very disappointed in others.

They always must do what’s right for the Country!

In this case, it is only because of my successful use of Tariffs that many Trillions of Dollars have already begun pouring into the U.S.A. from other Countries, money that, without these Tariffs, we would not be able to get.

It is the difference between having a rich, prosperous, and successful United States of America, and quite the opposite. The ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade is so wrong, and so political!

Hopefully, the Supreme Court will reverse this horrible, Country threatening decision, QUICKLY and DECISIVELY.

Backroom “hustlers”must not be allowed to destroy our Nation!

The horrific decision stated that I would have to get the approval of Congress for these Tariffs.

In other words, hundreds of politicians would sit around D.C. for weeks, and even months, trying to come to a conclusion as to what to charge other Countries that are treating us unfairly.

If allowed to stand, this would completely destroy Presidential Power — The Presidency would never be the same! This decision is being hailed all over the World by every Country, other than the United States of America.

Radical Left Judges, together with some very bad people, are destroying America. Under this decision, Trillions of Dollars would be lost by our Country, money that will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

It would be the harshest financial ruling ever leveled on us as a Sovereign Nation. The President of the United States must be allowed to protect America against those that are doing it Economic and Financial harm.

Where do these initial three Judges come from? How is it possible for them to have potentially done such damage to the United States of America?

In this case, it is only because of my successful use of Tariffs that many Trillions of Dollars have already begun pouring into the U.S.A. from other Countries, money that, without these Tariffs, we would not be able to get.

It is the difference between having a rich, prosperous, and successful United States of America, and quite the opposite. The ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade is so wrong, and so political!

Hopefully, the Supreme Court will reverse this horrible, Country threatening decision, QUICKLY and DECISIVELY.

Judge Blocking Trump’s Harvard Efforts Was Previously Overturned By SCOTUS For Pro-Harvard Ruling

U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs, who recently blocked the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) effort to stop Harvard University’s enrollment of foreign students, is thesame judge who was overturned by the Supreme Court for siding with the school’s racist affirmative action policies.

Burroughs, an Obama appointee serving in Massachusetts, has litigated several cases involving Harvard. In 2019, she ruled in favor of Harvard when they were sued by Students for Fair Admission over discrimination against Asian students. The Supreme Court overturned her decision in 2023, declaring race-based affirmative action unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment.

Burroughs oversaw MIT and Harvard’s lawsuit against the Trump administration in 2020. The universities sued the DHS and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when they tried to send home international students who were only taking online classes at American universities during the Covid-19 pandemic. ICE later rolled back this policy without a ruling from Burroughs.

Burroughs, at the request of Harvard’s attorneys, is also overseeing Harvard’s lawsuit against the Trump administration for pulling the university’s federal funding.On May 23, she issued a temporary restraining order blocking the effort.

Todd Lyons, the acting director of ICE, gave Harvard 30 days to rebut the DHS’s alleged grounds for withdrawing certification from the school’s Student Exchange and Visitor Program. In a Wednesday letter to the university director of immigration services, Maureen Martin, Lyons citedHarvard’s failure to comply with DHS student records requests, failure to curtail violence and antisemitism on campus, and ongoing national security concerns as reasons for the withdrawal. Harvard has been a target of the administration for a variety of infractions since Trump’s second term began.

But on Thursday, Burroughs nonetheless extendedher block on the DHS’sorder to stop Harvard University’s enrollment of foreign students and said she plans to issue a preliminary injunction.

Burroughs continues to be one of many rogue judges trying to foil the Trump administration.

Though the Supreme Court and Congress seem uninterested in intervening, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted Thursday that the administration is making efforts to “tackle these rogue judges and the injunctions and blockades that we have faced.” She clarified that, by the president’s direction, the administration will comply with court’s orders while fighting them.

On Monday, Trump promised that he would win a fight with the courts and noted Harvard’s blatant judge shopping.

Currently, more than 200 lawsuits overseen by various district court judges stand between Trump and enacting the agenda that the American people voted for.

Nellie Ohr isn’t a new name in the Russiagate saga, but newly released documents from Sen. Chuck Grassley’s office shatter the fiction that she was just a low-level researcher and reveal her as a key conduit between Clinton operatives, the DOJ, and the FBI. The documents also pull back the curtain on a darker truth:an internal black hole FBI system designed not just to restrict access to sensitive Russiagate documents, but to bury them so completely that even FBI agents tasked with finding them wouldn’t know they existed.

What was already known about Nellie Ohr is that she worked for Fusion GPS — an opposition research firm led by former Wall Street Journal reporters Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch — who were hired by the Clinton campaign in April 2016 to manufacture the Trump-Russia collusion hoax. At the same time, her husband, Bruce Ohr, was a senior official at the Department of Justice. It was also known that Nellie Ohr gathered open-source information on various figures, including Trump campaign advisor Carter Page, which was then twisted to fit the collusion narrative.What was not known — until now — is just how deeply involved she was in the Trump-Russia collusion smear, how brazenly she lied to cover it up, and how the FBI actively aided in the cover-up.

According to the newly released document from Sen. Grassley’s office,a previously unseen 43-page FBI analysis from 2019, Nellie Ohr was involved in many aspects of the Russia collusion hoax, including in the drafting of the Steele Dossier.

The FBI analysis was initiated after then-Congressman Mark Meadows filed a criminal referral, alleging that Ohr had lied to Congress during her 2018 testimony about her role in producing supposed research that helped trigger the Trump-Russia investigation.Meadows had good reason to be suspicious.

As the analysis concluded, Nellie Ohr repeatedly lied under oath. The FBI found that despite her denials, she contributed directly to the writing of the Steele Dossier. One telling clue was an identical analytical error that appeared both in her research and in the dossier itself. Even more damning, the FBI recovered a deleted “FSB report” from a thumb drive which Fusion owner Simpson had given to Bruce Ohr to give to the FBI in December 2016. That same fictitious report had already appeared as part of the dossier given to the FBI by Steele two months earlier, in October 2016. The FSB report bore all the hallmarks of Nellie Ohr’s work, which likely explains why Simpson, or whoever created the thumb drive, deleted the report just four minutes after uploading it, before eventually giving it to Bruce Ohr to pass to the FBI. What they didn’t realize was that what they tried to hide was still recoverable.

It’s long been suspected that former British intelligence agent turned Clinton operativeChristopher Steele’s role wasn’t to generate the dossier’s content himself but to act as a cutout, lending British intelligence credibility to stories manufactured by Fusion GPS operatives and Clinton campaign affiliates. That part of the operation was wildly successful. To this day, many still believe it was Steele who wrote the dossier’s stories, when in reality, he was just the frontman.

The FBI analysis also reviewed emails of Trump-Russia material sent directly by Ohr to DOJ prosecutors, including individuals she never disclosed to Congress. Further, while under oath, Ohr claimed to have had no knowledge of the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation, insisting that her work for Fusion just happened to align with it. Those claims were also false.In reality, she was deeply embedded in the FBI-DOJ pipeline. Far from a passive researcher, she functioned as a conduit between Clinton-funded smear artists and federal law enforcement.

The FBI discovered that she deleted emails, met multiple times with Steele, and lied to Congressabout when she took ham radio classes. In truth, she became familiar with ham radio concurrently while working on the Russia collusion hoax, likely as a way to evade digital surveillance. Additionally,she was involved in the so-called Alfa Bank dossier, a fraudulent document pushed to the FBI by Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann in an attempt to spark yet another investigation into Trump. In short, Nellie Ohr was no low-level researcher. She was a central player and a key conduit linking the FBI, DOJ, and Clinton operatives driving the smear campaign.

But as bad as all that is,the bigger scandalmay be how the FBI handled this information.Instead of referring her for prosecution, they buried the evidence. The FBI analysis of Ohr’s lies was hidden and is only coming to light now,six years later, conveniently after the five-year statute of limitations for lying to Congress expired.

Perhaps even worse, the report exposes the FBI’s “black hole” system, where sensitive documents are dumped into “prohibited files” that remain unsearchable, even by other agents. This systemic opacity was repeatedly flagged by the very analyst who wrote the FBI’s report on Nellie Ohr:

“‘Prohibited Access’ status precludes investigators from detecting the existence of potentially relevant serials(…) when search terms that exist in the Prohibited Access–status cases are searched in Sentinel, the particular search will receive a false-negative Sentinel search response.”

In other words, there’s likely far more that remains hidden to this day, or “unknown unknowns,” as Donald Rumsfeld famously put

One critical question is whether Inspector General Michael Horowitz or Special Counsel John Durham ever had access to the FBI’s black hole system. The answer is that they probably did not.==

Another disturbing detail, also discussed in the FBI analysis, is something internet sleuths first uncovered in 2019 when Judicial Watch obtained a FOIA release on Bruce Ohr–related documents.

Buried in the records was a seemingly minor point: Nellie and Bruce Ohr traveled to Prague in February 2016.That stood out, not only because Prague was the city falsely cited in the Steele Dossier as the site of a covert meeting between Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and Russian officials, but also because, according to Wikileaks emails, February 2016 was the same month the Clinton campaign first discussed its anti-Trump smear operation, internally dubbed the “swift boat project.”

But there’s more to the Prague story. What online sleuths didn’t know back in 2019 — because the government FOIA censors conveniently redacted the name, supposedly for “privacy reasons” — was known to the FBI analyst tasked with investigating Nellie Ohr’s lies to Congress: Bruce and Nellie Ohr were accompanied on their February 2016 trip to Prague by none other than Timothy Thibault.

'Cosmic miracle!' James Webb Space Telescope discovers the earliest galaxy ever seen

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) excels at a lot of things, but there are two things it does better than any other scientific instrument in human history: spotting early galaxies and breaking its own records!

Now, the $10 billion NASA space telescope has done both things again, detecting a galaxy that existed just 280 million years after the Big Bang, a feat that the team behind this research has dubbed a "cosmic miracle."

Currently, as the earliest and most distant galaxy ever detected, this "the mother of all early galaxies," this new JWST discovery has been fittingly designated "MoM z14."

"First and foremost, at the moment, this is the most distant object known to humanity.

That title changes every so often, but I find it is always cause for pause and reflection," team member and Yale University professor of Astronomy and Physics Pieter van Dokkum told Space.com.

"MoM z14 existed when the universe was about 280 million years old - we're getting quite close to the Big Bang.

"Just to put that in context, sharks have been around on Earth for a longer timespan!"

The JWST is seeing red again

Since it began sending data back to Earth in the summer of 2022, the JWST has excelled in detecting galaxies at so-called "high redshifts."

Redshift refers to the phenomenon of the wavelength of light from distant and thus early sources being stretched and shifted toward the "red end" of the electromagnetic spectrum as it traverses expanding space.

The earlier and thus further away an object is, the greater the redshift.

Prior to the discovery of MoM z14, the galaxy holding the title of earliest and distant was JADES-GS-z14-0, which existed just 300 million years after the Big Bang, or around 13.5 billion years ago.

This previous record galaxy has a redshift of z =14.32, while MoM z14 has a redshift of z = 14.44.

What do we know about the mother of all early galaxies?

There is a wider context to the observation of MoM z14 than the fact that it has broken the record for earliest known galaxy by 20 million years, though, as van Dokkum explained.

"The broader story here is that JWST was not expected to find any galaxies this early in the history of the universe, at least not at this stage of the mission," van Dokkum said.

"There are, very roughly, over 100 more relatively bright galaxies in the very early universe than were expected based on pre-JWST observations."

Also, in addition to detecting this new, earliest, and most distant galaxy, the team was able to determine some of its characteristics using the JWST.

The researchers were able to determine that MoM z14 is around 50 times smaller than the Milky Way. The team also measured emission lines from the galaxy, indicating the presence of elements like nitrogen and carbon.

"The emission lines are unusual; it indicates that the galaxy is very young, with a rapidly increasing rate of forming new stars," van Dokkum said.

"There are also indications that there is not much neutral hydrogen gas surrounding the galaxy, which would be surprising: the very early universe is expected to be filled with neutral hydrogen.

"That needs even better spectra and more galaxies, to investigate more fully."

The presence of carbon and nitrogen in MoM z14 indicates that there are earlier galaxies to be discovered than this 13.52 billion-year-old example.

That is because the very earliest galaxies in the universe and their stars were filled with the simplest elements in the cosmos, hydrogen and helium.

Later galaxies would be populated by these heavier elements, which astronomers somewhat confusingly call "metal," as their stars forged them and then dispersed them in supernova explosions.

"MoM z14 is not one of the very first objects that formed in the universe, as the stars in those galaxies are composed of hydrogen and helium only - we would not see carbon or nitrogen," van Dokkum said.

"It could be part of the first wave of formation of 'normal' galaxies, that is, the first galaxies that have elements like nitrogen and carbon - but we've thought that before!"

In the end, it’s the same story: Nellie Ohr was caught, repeatedly and provably, lying to Congress.But instead of facing justice, she was protected. Like everyone else who pushed the Russia collusion lies, and the list is long, she walks away scot-free.

The most undervalued industry in the world is the space industry. It is particularly unappreciated in Europe, which has now fallen hopelessly behind the United States and China.

The US carried out 153 launches last year, China 68 and Europe three.

The science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke wrote back in 1977: “The impact of satellites on the entire human race will be at least the same impact as the advent of the telephone in so-called developed societies”.

And he was right. Satellite mega-constellations such as Starlink, Qianfan, Kuiper, and Sat Net will ensure that the third of the world’s population that does not currently have access to the internet will soon be connected – with far-reaching economic implications.

CNBC has called space “Wall Street’s next trillion-dollar industry”, and according to a study by the World Economic Forum in April 2024, the space economy is expected to be worth USD 1.8 trillion by 2035.

Morgan Stanley expects a space-based business to create the world’s first trillionaire. Following the moon landings at the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s, manned space flight in the U.S. all but stalled, largely due to political interference.

Each new president came to office with new ideas and new priorities, and contracts were too often awarded or simply cancelled on blatantly political grounds.

NASA’s space shuttle program failed to live up to expectations. Despite the substantial investments made in the International Space Station (ISS), questions remain as to whether the money was spent wisely.

And the launch costs, measured as the cost of getting one kilogram of payload into space, more or less stagnated for almost four decades.

It was private companies that achieved the breakthrough, driving launch costs down by approximately 80%. And this is just the beginning. Space exploration once again proves the superiority of capitalism.

The space race between the Soviet Union and the United States in the 1960s has now been replaced by a contest between the United States and China.

But there is one crucial difference: during the original space race, the U.S. and USSR space programs were both state-led.

Yes, private companies also built rockets for the Apollo program, but those companies were given strict and narrow guidelines by the state space agency NASA, which told them exactly how to construct a rocket and led to high costs as the companies followed NASA’s instructions meticulously. Through cost-plus programs, there was not the slightest incentive to reduce costs; instead, the companies were incentivized to increase costs.

The relationship between NASA and private companies has changed dramatically in recent years. Elon Musk insisted on fixed prices and instead of telling SpaceX what to build, NASA specified what services it wanted to buy.

The result: of 261 space missions worldwide in 2024, 134 were launched by SpaceX. If SpaceX were a country, it would by far surpass the second-largest country in the world, China, which registered 68 launches.

Even today, private space travel is hampered by superfluous regulations and government interference, particularly in Europe, but also in the United States.

I suspect that a key reason for Elon Musk’s foray into politics is that he wanted to find a way to liberate private space companies from the growing bureaucratic burdens in the U.S.

The outcome of the new space race – whether China or the United States emerges victorious – will largely depend on which country grants more freedom to the growth of private space exploration.

Currently, the United States is well ahead, but it would be dangerous to underestimate developments in China, which is also reducing its reliance on an exclusively public sector space program and is increasingly involving private companies.

Dr. Vladimir Pletser (PhD, MSc, MEng) will be instrumental in assisting TSI Chief Astronaut Bill McArthur in developing the physical and operational training of TSI astronauts, including R&D and E&D astronauts, as well as career astronauts.

Dr Pletser holds a MEng in space systems, an MSc in space geodesy and a PhD in Astrophysics. He brings tremendous training experience from his extensive career.

He managed the European Space Agency’s (ESA) aircraft parabolic flight program, where he logged 7,380 parabolas equivalent to 26 Earth orbits, plus 53 minutes and 50 minutes at Mars and Moon gravity levels, holding the official Guinness World Record for the number of aircraft (14) on which he flew parabolas.

He was involved in more than a thousand experiments in physical and life sciences, and he developed scientific instruments for microgravity research in physical and life sciences for missions on Spacelab and the International Space Station.

Dr. Pletser trained NASA and European astronauts for parabolic flights and Spacelab missions.

Astronaut Candidate for Belgium, he took part in three Mars mission simulation campaigns in the Arctic and twice in the Utah Desert, and as Crew Commander on his last campaign.

Dr. Pletser will fly as a selected astronaut and trainer on TSI’s inaugural orbital spaceplane mission in March 2029 and to the Titans OrbitalPort Space Station (TOPSS) in Q4-2029, and frequently thereafter.

Dr. Mindy Howard

Dr. Mindy Howard (PhD, MSc) will lead the development and implementation of TSI’s astronaut mental preparedness training programs, bringing a vital and visionary dimension to the training of Titans Space astronauts.

She will also contribute directly to the broader astronaut training program, working alongside Chief Astronaut Bill McArthur and the TSI leadership team.

The Biden administration “ignored or dismissed” more than 65,000 reports related to migrant children— including more than 7,300 reports of human trafficking, according to details of a Department of Health and Human Services summary released by Sen. Chuck Grassley.

Of the reports, 56,591 were “notifications of concern, 7,346 reports of human trafficking and 1,688 fraud leads,” according to a press release from Grassley.The Trump administration has since taken the responsibility on, having processed more than 28 percent of the backlog left by the Biden administration, according to the press release.There have been seven indictments, 25 arrest warrants, 11 arrests and three convictions, according to the release.

In a statement,Grassley, who has been spearheading efforts to save migrant children being exploited and abused, alleged that theBiden administration placed “unaccompanied migrant children with dangerous sponsors and actively obstruct[ed] law enforcement and Congress’ efforts to rescue vulnerable kids.”

The Trump administration said it would now address the issue.

“[Office of Refugee Resettlement] is digging through nearly 65,000 reports of concern about unaccompanied alien children — most ignored, many dismissed— each one a missed chance to protect a child,” the Department of Health and Human Services said in a post on X. “This isn’t just paperwork. This is a systemic failure of the Biden administration. It is children’s lives put at risk. Now, it’s all ORR hands on deck. We’re combing through every report, every detail — because protecting children isn’t optional.”

“The Trump administration WILL NOT look away. The system may have failed before, but not on our watch,” the post continued.

Grassley recently sent a letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., detailing the “poor vetting of sponsors of unaccompanied alien children.”Grassley submitted a law enforcement referral in 2024 flagging potentially criminal activity in the alien unaccompanied children program. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) then identified more than 100 sponsors but, according to Grassley’s letter to Kennedy, theBiden administration failed to respondto adequately to the subpoenas issued by law enforcement.

“[Homeland Security Investigations] analyzed [referrals] anddetermined over 100 sponsors were suspicious enough to warrant further investigation, from a single HHS emergency intake site,” the letter states. “In response, HSI issued subpoenas to HHS for information to assist it in finding suspicious sponsors identified in my referral, and the children they sponsored.”

But, according to the letter, thenHHS Secretary Xavier Becerra “failed to fully comply with two-thirds of subpoenas they issued.” This contributed to HSI “only [finding] a handful of sponsors and children,” the letter states.

An April 2025 report from the DHS and Office of Inspector General confirmed Grassley’s concerns, finding theBiden administration lost track of hundreds of thousands of migrant children.

The Biden administration saw more than 10 million illegal alien encounters, according to estimates from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

FAA requires SpaceX to investigate Starship Flight 9 mishap

SpaceX needs to figure out what happened on the ninth test flight of its Starship megarocket, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has decreed.

Flight 9, which lifted off from SpaceX's Starbase site in South Texas on Tuesday (May 27), ended in the destruction of both of Starship's stages — its Super Heavy booster and Ship upper stage (which is also sometimes known, somewhat confusingly, as Starship).

But the FAA, which grants launch licenses for U.S. operators, is only concerned about one of those explosive events.

"The mishap investigation is focused only on the loss of the Starship vehicle, which did not complete its launch or reentry as planned," FAA officials wrote in an update today (May 30).

"The FAA determined that the loss of the Super Heavy booster is covered by one of the approved test induced damage exceptions requested by SpaceX for certain flight events and system components," the agency explained.

"The FAA evaluated each exception prior to launch approval and verified they met public safety requirements."

SpaceX broke new ground on Flight 9, reusing a Super Heavy for the first time ever. This particular booster first flew on Flight 7 in January, acing its engine burn and then returning to Starbase for a successful and dramatic catch by the launch tower's "chopstick" arms.

The company did not attempt another catch on Flight 9. It conducted a variety of experiments with the booster, including bringing it down to Earth on a higher "angle of attack" to increase atmospheric drag.

So, for safety's sake, SpaceX steered Super Heavy toward a "hard splashdown" in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. This didn't quite work out, however.

"Contact with the booster was lost shortly after the start of landing burn when it experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly approximately 6 minutes after launch, bringing an end to the first reflight of a Super Heavy booster," SpaceX wrote in a Flight 9 recap.

Ship had an even harder time on Flight 9. The upper stage was supposed to make a soft splashdown in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Western Australia about 65 minutes after launch, but it suffered an "attitude control error" that prevented the vehicle from getting into the proper orientation for reentry.

"Starship then went through an automated safing process to vent the remaining pressure to place the vehicle in the safest condition for reentry," SpaceX wrote in the recap.

"Contact with Starship was lost approximately 46 minutes into the flight, with all debris expected to fall within the planned hazard area in the Indian Ocean."

This was still a considerable improvement over Ship's performance on its previous two liftoffs. On both Flight 7 and Flight 8 (which launched in March), Ship was lost less than 10 minutes after liftoff, raining debris down over the Atlantic.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage to public property as a result of the Flight 9 mishap, according to the FAA. There were also minimal effects on flights in U.S. airspace — an improvement over the previous two Starship launches.

"The FAA activated a Debris Response Area, out of an abundance of caution, when the Super Heavy booster experienced its anomaly over the Gulf of America during its flyback toward Texas," FAA officials wrote.

"The FAA subsequently determined the debris did not fall outside of the hazard area," they added. "During the event, there were zero departure delays, one flight was diverted, and one airborne flight was held for 24 minutes."

Now "The Blue Danube" waltz with its whirling orbital rhythms will truly become the music of the cosmos when the European Space Agency broadcasts the lilting classical piece into deep space in celebration of the agency's 50th anniversary this year, in addition to the bicentennial of Johann Strauss II's birth in 1825.

Performed by the Wiener Symphoniker (Vienna Symphony Orchestra), this definitive anthem of space and sci-fi will be transmitted towards NASA's Voyager 1 probe by ESA's 35-meter Deep Space Antenna in Cebreros, Spain.

Space fans and music lovers can watch an entire 15-minute livestream on the event's official website and on their YouTube or Instagram Channel regardless of your location, starting at 3:30 p.m. ET (1930 GMT) on Saturday (May 31).

Known in its native German as "An der schönen blauen Donau" which translates into "By the Beautiful Blue Danube," the sublime composition's 13,743 notes are being broadcast into the interstellar void on a mission that "is both a tribute to the past and a testament to the future – a Viennese Waltz that will echo through space forever," according to the event's website.

Climate scientists are hosting a 100-hour YouTube livestream in response to Trump's research funding cuts

More than 200 climate and weather scientists from across the U.S. are taking part in a marathon livestream on YouTube, planning to share their scientific work and answer questions from viewers for a grand total of 100 hours over the course of five days.

The event is non-partisan, and aims to prove the value of climate science in light of the Trump administration's funding cuts to organizations like NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The stream kicked off on Wednesday (May 28( at 1 pm ET (1700 GMT), starting with scientists documenting their last few hours at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) as the office was shuttered.

It will run until 5:30 pm ET (2130 GMT) on Sunday (June 1), which marks the official start of hurricane season in the U.S.

Margaret Duffy, whose research focuses on atmospheric responses to global warming, first caught wind of the event in late April when Jonah Bloch-Johnson, a collaborator and fellow climate scientist, messaged her with a wild idea.

"It was basically to do a marathon livestream," she told Space.com. "I think I responded within minutes." Now, Duffy is one of about a dozen organizers behind the stream.

"We just immediately started reaching out to every contact we knew," Marc Alessi, another livestream organizer and a fellow at the Union of Concerned Scientists, told Space.com.

The team's efforts were successful. The marathon stream features mini-lectures, panels and question-and-answer sessions with hundreds of scientists, each speaking in their capacity as private citizens rather than on behalf of any institution.

These include talks from former National Weather Service directors, Britney Schmidt, a groundbreaking glacier researcher, and legendary meteorologist John Morales. In its first 30 hours, the stream got over 77,000 views.

Ultimately, the goal of the event is to give members of the public the chance to learn more about meteorology and climate science in an informal setting — and for free.

"We really felt like the American public deserves to know what we do," Duffy said. However, many of the speakers and organizers also hope the transference of this knowledge will spur people to take action.

The event's website features a link to 5 Calls, an organization that makes it easy for folks to contact their representatives in Congress about the importance of funding climate and weather research.

The current administration has already gutted thousands of federal jobs and slashed millions of dollars in climate funding — and Congress is eyeing further cuts, which some experts fear will spell disaster.

"There's a difference between pruning your flowers and taking a chainsaw and just cutting through the entire garden," meteorologist Alan Sealls said on the livestream.

The loss of federal funding for meteorology can (and likely will) have dire consequences.

For example, many U.S. farmers rely on tools like the US Drought Monitor — a collaboration between NOAA, USDA and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln — to predict if and when their crops will get rain.

Coastal communities rely on NOAA's hurricane forecasts to know whether to evacuate during a storm. And countless US citizens depend on predictions provided by the National Weather Service to help plan their daily lives.

In addition to short-term forecasting, the cuts could seriously damage global climate research. As the world warms, we are increasingly entering uncharted climate territory.

The models developed by climatologists and other researchers will prove invaluable in helping humanity cope with dangers like sea level rise, extreme heatwaves and increasingly frequent tornadoes.

"These talks serve as a reminder of the fact that the American public has invested in weather and climate research for decades," said Alessi. "This is not something new."

NASA budget would cancel dozens of science missions, lay off thousands

NASA released more information about its proposed fiscal year 2026 budget May 30, outlining new investments in exploration at the expense of canceling dozens of science missions and cutting thousands of jobs.

The documents provide greater detail about the top-level budget proposal from what the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) disclosed in its “skinny” budget released four weeks earlier.

NASA published the budget documents on its website late on a Friday with no fanfare and without the traditional budget briefing by agency leadership.

That top-level budget of $18.8 billion would be a cut of about a quarter from the nearly $24.9 billion it received in fiscal year 2025.

That is the sharpest year-over-year cut proposed for NASA and would bring the agency’s budget down to levels last seen in 1961 when corrected for inflation.

With the budget cuts will come jobs cuts at NASA. A table in the budget document notes that NASA has 17,391 direct-funded civil servants in fiscal year 2025, but that would drop to 11,853 under the fiscal year 2026 proposal, a cut of one-third.

The document does not go into detail about the cuts, with only passing references to “workforce impacts” and “workforce reshaping efforts.”

Dozens of canceled missions

The documents confirm steep cuts in NASA’s science programs. NASA is proposing $3.9 billion for all of NASA science in fiscal year 2026, a 47% cut from what the agency received in 2025.

Those reductions come in large part from canceling many science missions still in development or in extended operations after completing their primary missions.

Casey Dreier, chief of space policy at The Planetary Society, said in an interview that more than 40 science projects, including standalone missions and contributions to other missions, were zeroed out in the budget.

“It’s generally pretty much what we expected,” he said, based on the figures previously released.

Those cuts include the Mars Sample Return (MSR) program, which the skinny budget highlighted for cancellation, and Landsat Next, a future Earth observation program that was the other science mission mentioned in the skinny budget.

NASA will instead work to restructure Landsat Next in unspecified ways through a separate program, Sustainable Land Imaging.

In Earth science, the budget proposes to cancel missions in the Earth System Observatory line of missions recommended by the most recent decadal survey other than GRACE-Continuity, the latest in a series of missions to monitor the planet’s gravity field.

Some extended missions would also be affected, such as the CYGNSS satellites used for studying tropical cyclones, and some smaller venture-class missions in developed would be terminated.

In addition to MSR, the budget proposes to end funding for the Mars Odyssey and MAVEN missions orbiting Mars.

It would also cancel NASA’s support for the European Space Agency’s Rosalind Franklin Mars rover mission, where NASA agreed to provide thrusters, radioisotope heating units and a launch vehicle.

Other planetary science missions that the proposal seeks to cancel include DAVINCI and VERITAS, two Discovery-class missions to Venus selected four years ago. NASA would also terminate its participation in ESA’s EnVision mission to Venus.

The budget terminates several planetary science missions in extended operations, including Juno, New Horizons and OSIRIS-APEX, the repurposed OSIRIS-REX spacecraft headed to the near Earth asteroid Apophis.

In astrophysics, NASA will continue development of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, contrary to a OMB “passback” budget document in April.

However, it proposes $156.6 million for Roman, less than half the $376.5 mission that NASA projected spending on the mission in 2026 in its fiscal year 2025 budget request.

“NASA is actively evaluating cost-saving strategies and identifying schedule optimization opportunities to enable the mission to proceed with this reduced funding level,” the budget document said.

The Planetary Society’s Dreier noted it’s not clear whether costs could be saved at this point, since the telescope is far along in its development and currently on track for a launch as soon as the fall of 2026.

The budget would terminate many ongoing astrophysics missions, including the Chandra X-Ray Observatory and Fermi.

It would cancel the Astrophysics Probe program, which was studying concepts for a billion-dollar space telescope, as well as smaller Explorer-class missions in development such as the Compton Spectrometer and Imager as well as Ultraviolet Explorer.

The heliophysics budget proposal would also end funding for several ongoing missions, like Magnetospheric Multiscale, and reduce funding for others.

NASA’s biological and physical sciences division would see its budget cut by more than two-thirds, from $87 million to $25 million, “to support higher priorities within the agency.”

Dreier said he was surprised some missions were included, like MAVEN, Juno and New Horizons, given their scientific performance and, in the case of MAVEN, providing communication services at Mars.

He noted that the budget would effectively end production of plutonium-238 needed for missions in the outer solar system as well as heating units on other spacecraft.

New exploration initiatives

The steep cuts to NASA science, as well as in space operations, space technology and several other areas, contrast with new initiatives in exploration.

As disclosed in the skinny budget, NASA seeks to cancel the lunar Gateway and end the Space Launch System and Orion after the Artemis 3 mission.

The budget instead includes $864 million for a new “Commercial Moon to Mars (M2M) Infrastructure and Transportation Program.”

That would go towards developing a commercial system to replace SLS/Orion as well as early work on “a space suit appropriate for use by astronauts on the Martian surface.”

The program will also fund lunar and Martian relay satellites and be the new home of the Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, currently hosted by NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.

The budget overall offers more than $1 billion for projects associated with human Mars exploration.

That amount includes $200 million mission for “a near-term entry, descent, and landing demonstration for a human-class Mars lander” and another $200 million for commercial payload deliveries to Mars.

The budget documents, though, provide few specifics about those new initiatives.

Reaction

Dreier said that The Planetary Society has seen a strong response to the proposed cuts in the skinny budget and expects the detailed budget to amplify those concerns.

“There’s definitely a lot of significant concern about what this does to the workforce,” he said. That budget will go to Congress, where even Republican members are expected to push back against the cuts.

Dreier said he has heard from even Republican offices on Capitol Hill that the budget is “dead on arrival.”

“No one is eager to cut NASA science. No one is out there openly defending and saying that this is a great idea,” he said. The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) also criticized the cuts in a statement late May 30.

“The proposed budget falls short, making heavy-handed cuts to mission-critical programs that could jeopardize our space leadership,” said Eric Fanning, president and CEO of AIA.

The organization recommended that NASA be funded at an overall level of $25.6 billion or more in 2026.

Exclusive: DOJ Opens Civil Rights Investigation Into University Of Virginia’s DEI Regime

The U.S. Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into the University of Virginia over its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) regime,which it has attempted to secretly continue despite a directive from its board to eradicate the ideology.

The Justice Department confirmed itsinvestigation into the school to America First Legal (AFL),The Federalist learned, after the group sent a 98-page letter to Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon, a UVA alumna, on Friday detailinghow UVA is attempting to disguise its DEI infrastructure in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

The university’s Board of Visitors voted to dismantle DEI earlier this year, but actually executing that directiveis left to the very people who injected the ideology into the school in the first place, as The Federalist reported.

“UVA has not dismantled its DEI framework —it has merely rebranded it to evade legal scrutiny. What the law prohibits, UVA simply renamed,” AFL counsel Megan Redshaw told The Federalist. “We are grateful the DOJ has taken our findings seriously and is taking action to hold UVA accountable. No institution that receives taxpayer funds is above the law.”

After the UVA board’s vote, the Department of Justice sent an April 28 letter to the school’s president, rector, and legal counselrequiring that the school prove it was dismantling the DEIregime they had built in order to be in compliance with civil rights law.

The department pointed to racialized admissions schemes and preferencesmade unconstitutional by the Supreme Courtas well as an executive order signed by President Donald Trump aimed at dismantling “‘DEI’ apparatuses and instruments of discrimination based on race, skin color, ethnicity, national origin, and other impermissible, immutable characteristics.”

As AFL pointed out, UVA did not comply with the directive,but rather said it had “made progress” on eradicating DEI, and that “additional work remains to be done.” The school also started a working group in order to “promote open inquiry, constructive conversation across differences, and development of a civic mindset,”but did not say how its DEI regime had been dismantled.

Rather, like many other schools, the school decided toget rid of some websitesand mentions of DEI but keep the ideology functioning full steam ahead in the background.

“UVA has rebranded its DEI programs using euphemismslike ‘Inclusive Excellence,’ ‘Advocacy and Opportunity,’ ‘Community Engagement,’ ‘Strategic Wellness and Opportunity,’ ‘Inclusion and Belonging,’ and ‘Viewpoint Diversity,’while continuing to applyrace-, sex-, and other identity-based preferences in violation of federal law,” AFL stated.

The school also simply rebranded job titles, as opposed to firing the DEI staff (many of whom maintain pronouns in their professional biographies). Rachel Spraker, who used to be called the “Assistant VP for Diversity and Inclusion,” but is now the “Assistant VP for Equity and Inclusive Excellence,” once said that “white people are actually dying from whiteness too.” (It’s funny it’s almost most whites doing this.)

The Darden School of Business at UVA similarly rebranded its DEI page,but maintains scholarships that restrict eligibilityfor sex, race, and other characteristics backed by a $125 million endowment for candidates they claim to be “diverse” — which typically means nonwhite and not male, and has nothing to do with differing perspectives.

Darden further works with organizations outside the school in orderto award $20,000 to an “LGBTQ+” candidatewho will promote “LGBTQ+” issues.

Similar programs exist at theschool of medicineto choose candidates based on racial or sexual preferences, including the “Peter Page Scholarship,” which gives $10,000 to “highly motivated gay male students.” (these universities are filled with CIA)

The examples are endless.

It is unclear if anyone in Virginia will hold the university accountable. Thus far, Gov. Glenn Youngkin, R-Va., has not called for the removal of UVA president Jim Ryan, who was one of the primary forces behind injecting DEI in the first place, as The Federalist reported. If Youngkin told the university’s board to fire Ryan, they would almost certainly do it.

(No one should forget Youngkin is a Bush Cheney partner, he’s faking MAGA when it suits him.)

Russian satellite with suspected weapon maneuvers near US space asset, sparks fear

In an increasingly contested orbital domain, a recent series of maneuvers by a Russian satellite near a critical U.S. government asset has significantly heightened international concerns.

This activity is sparking renewed fears that Moscow may be developing and deploying co-orbital anti-satellite (ASAT) weapons, despite Russia’s consistent claims that these spacecraft are intended solely for space monitoring and inspection.

Russia’s orbital activity prompts scrutiny

According to U.S. Space Command, a recently launched Russian satellite has entered an orbit near a U.S. government spacecraft.

The agency noted that Russia continues to pursue a range of counterspace capabilities that pose risks to the safety and stability of the space domain.

As with all objects in orbit, U.S. Space Command says it will closely monitor the satellite for any potentially concerning behavior, Breaking Defense reports.

The Russian satellite Cosmos 2588, launched on May 23, was placed in a coplanar orbit with USA 338 — a satellite widely believed to be part of the National Reconnaissance Office’s KH-series electro-optical surveillance network, known as the Crystal constellation.

Independent satellite tracker Bart Hendrix was the first to report the launch and orbital characteristics of Cosmos 2588 on the NASA SpaceFlight Forum, a hub where space enthusiasts and amateur astronomers collaborate to analyze new satellite activity.

Dutch astronomer Marco Langbroek later noted on the forum that the satellite appears to be following a trajectory similar to two earlier Cosmos missions, indicating it may have been purpose-built as an anti-satellite (ASAT) platform.

Recent Russian Cosmos satellites differ from the U.S. military’s mobile GSSAP spacecraft, which maneuver to inspect others in orbit. Instead, these Russian satellites remain largely fixed in position, closely shadowing U.S. government satellites thought to belong to the KH-series reconnaissance fleet.

Tracking data suggests satellite may carry kinetic weapon

U.S. satellite tracking company Slingshot Aerospace shared a tracking image of Cosmos 2588 on LinkedIn Thursday.

Based on open-source data from Seradata, Cosmos 2588 is believed to be a NIVELIR military inspection satellite potentially equipped with a kinetic weapon.

The satellite appears to be focused on USA 338, which lacks publicly available orbital data. Slingshot suggests that Cosmos 2588 may be tracking this uncatalogued, co-orbital U.S. satellite.

A spokesperson from Slingshot Aerospace told Breaking Defense that in its current orbit, Cosmos 2588 will come within approximately 58 miles of its target.

Because the satellites operate at different altitudes and are not expected to maneuver further, they will pass close to each other about every four days, resulting in repeated fly-bys.

Slingshot Aerospace is closely monitoring Cosmos 2558 and Cosmos 2576—both linked to suspected anti-satellite capabilities—and will keep watch on Cosmos 2588 for any signs of secondary payload deployment.

Although the company hasn’t detailed why it suspects Cosmos 2588 could be a weapon, past patterns have made Western astronomers increasingly cautious.

According to Langbroek, the launch of Cosmos 2588 marks the fourth time in five years that a Russian military satellite has been placed in a co-orbital path with a U.S. optical reconnaissance satellite.

Previous cases include Kosmos 2542/2543 with USA 245, Kosmos 2558 with USA 326, and Kosmos 2576 with USA 314.

While the first incident resembled an inspector mission, the more recent patterns suggest a possible strategy of positioning dormant co-orbital anti-satellite weapons.

The FBI is offering a reward of "up to $20,000" for information leading to the arrest of Grant Hardin, a former police chief who escaped from prison while serving time for murder and rape.

The reward was doubled from the "up to $10,000" amount announced Thursday.

It asks people who have information about Hardin to call the FBI's toll-free tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov. Tipsters can also contact a local FBI office, or an American Embassy or Consulate.

The FBI has been helping U.S. Marshals along with state and local law enforcement search for Hardin since his escape on Sunday.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections said Wednesday that teams are searching in Faulkner County after receiving a tip on the whereabouts of Grant Hardin, who escaped from the Calico Rock prison on Sunday.

Hardin put on a makeshift outfit that looked like an Arkansas Department of Corrections uniform.

He then pretended to be a jailer and tricked a real corrections officer into opening a gate and letting Hardin walk away, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed Tuesday.

The weather and terrain in northern Arkansas has been hindering search efforts.

Rand Champion, Arkansas Department of Corrections spokesperson, said the rain and wind have grounded helicopters.

The low clouds have made it difficult for drones to see.

Additionally, the rain has also made it tough for the search dogs to pick up on Hardin's scent.

"You know he's not necessarily from this area, but he did grow up in Northwest Arkansas, which has some terrain similar to this," Champion said.

Hardin spent most of his life in the Ozarks of northern Arkansas and southern Missouri.

"There's a lot of caves around here," Champion said. "There's a lot of hills. And so understanding that he may have that sort of familiarity provides a challenge."

The Ozarks, which include Calico Rock and Hardin's home area of Northwest Arkansas, include thousands of caves.

Jesse James, moonshiners, and generations of outlaws have used the Ozarks' cave systems as hiding places.
