There's some surprises in that story that we were not really told.
God was not mad at Adam or Eve. In fact, Eve did not exist when Adam was told not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A careful reading shows that God loves Adam and Eve, but he sure declared war on the Satan.
Anon suspects that Adam and Eve disobeyed God, but since they were completely innocent of any kind of knowledge of the difference between good and evil at the time they ate the fruit, they could not have "sinned" in any evil, intentional respect.
Can a one year old sin?
This possibility is reflected in what God did after the three of them were finished messing things up.
It's sad that churches change "religious doctrine" to control mankind, because the churches want to put the sin on mankind, and make us depend on the Church to get to heaven. We only need our creator.
