So, the limit can be extended in certain cases where it applies. For example: let's say a person was beat into a coma by a perpetrator for, and remained in one for 15 years. Would the statute of limitations run out for that person when they came back to conscious? Technically yes, but this type of edge case can be easily argued and guarantee you the courts would agree.
