In 2016, an earlier Netanyahu government provided medical treatment to a Syrian affiliate of Al Qaeda. At the time, former Mossad chief Efraim Halevy brushed aside an interviewer's astonishment that Israel would aid an enemy of the United States: “We have a different account with Hezbollah. A totally different account. Al Qaeda, to the best of my recollection, has not attacked Israel.”

Then in March 2023, he made his position even clearer on Substack. “I don’t care about transient antibody titer levels,” he wrote.

But mNEXSPIKE® appears to have been approved primarily using exactly those kinds of data—measures of immune response, not measures of meaningful outcomes.

Technically, the approval aligns with the policy Prasad outlined in a recent New England Journal of Medicine article.

There, he proposed a two-track system—no further vaccine approvals for healthy adults without RCTs showing clinical benefit—but for older adults and at-risk individuals, immunobridging data could still be acceptable.

Russia allegedly fired over 400 projectiles into Ukraine, though most were said to be downed by air defenses. On the other side, two airbases, a fuel depot and aviation were reportedly struck deep in Russia overnight.

"A successful strike was carried out on the Engels airfield in the Saratov region, a place where enemy aircraft are concentrated," Ukraine’s General Staff said in a statement, in reference to the Engels-2 base which lies roughly 500 kilometers (300 miles) east of the Ukrainian border,

Several fuel tanks at the base were set ablaze, which dramatic images appeared to show following "multiple hits" on the site, per Ukrainian military statements.

Additionally, in the Ryazan Region, Ukraine said it targeted the Dyagilevo airbase, which supports Russian missile operations. The regional governor said the incoming drones were downed by anti-air defense systems.

And in the Tambov Region, drones reportedly targeted a high-tech aviation and missile control systems plant in Michurinsk. Ukrainian sources allege the plant is a military-industrial site, producing components for Russian missile and artillery systems.

Among the 12 activists on the ship are Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, Brazilian activist Thiago Avila, Irish “Game of Thrones” actor Liam Cunningham, and Rima Hassan, a French-Palestinian European Parliament member.

Hassan, one of six French citizens on board, was barred in February from entering Israel over her past statements supporting sanctions and armed struggle against the country.

Israeli defense officials told The Times of Israel that they are monitoring the boat’s route, as the activists take a detour to pick up Sudanese migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean.

Still, if the boat continues to Gaza, it will be intercepted by the Navy, the officials said. At its current pace, the Madleen would likely reach the Strip sometime over the weekend. The boat may be towed to the Ashdod port or left at sea, the Kan public broadcaster reported earlier this week.

This policy classifies cryptocurrency under the same framework used for traditional financial assets, applying regulations that govern bank accounts, stocks, and safe deposit boxes. If a holder does not log in, make a transaction, or update their account within three years, their Bitcoin could be transferred to the State Controller’s Office for custody. Revulsion for Israel Surges Worldwide, New Survey Finds

Twenty months into its livestreamed and accelerating genocide in Gaza, it would hardly be controversial to conclude that Israel is one of the world’s most hated countries.

But a new global survey from the US-based Pew Research Center indicates just how unpopular it has become, especially in the North American and European states where Tel Aviv has always drawn its main sources of financial, military and political support.

“In 20 of the 24 countries surveyed, around half of adults or more have an unfavorable view of Israel,” Pew reported on 3 June. “Around three-quarters or more hold this view in Australia, Greece, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.”

Pew says it last asked the question in 10 of the countries included in its new survey in 2013. “In seven of these countries, the share of adults with a negative view of Israel has increased significantly.”

Israel was most unpopular in Turkey, with 93 percent of respondents viewing it unfavorably. Turkey was the only country in the immediate region of Palestine to be surveyed by Pew.

Among European publics surveyed, Israel was viewed most negatively in the Netherlands (78 percent), a remarkable fact in a country whose governments have traditionally been staunchly pro-Israel.

Even in Hungary – whose leader Viktor Orban welcomed Benjamin Netanyahu to Budapest earlier this year in spite of the international arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister – 53 percent of the public views Israel negatively.

Historic shift in US

In the United States – Israel’s biggest financier and arms supplier – 53 percent of those surveyed now have a negative view of Israel – an 11-point surge since 2022, according to Pew.

In recent years, surveys have consistently found that Israel is overwhelmingly unpopular with majorities of Democrats, younger Americans and people of color.

But it is an entirely new phenomenon for a majority of the US population overall to view Israel negatively.

The erosion of support for Israel in the United States – particularly among younger people – has long worried Israel and its lobby groups as a potential threat to long-term US support for Israel.

That likely explains why the Trump administration has focused its unconstitutional crackdown on free speech critical of Israel on college campuses, in an effort to scare the younger generation into line.

The turn to heavy-handed censorship, not just in the US but across Europe, is also an admission that efforts to equate disapproval of Israel’s crimes with anti-Semitism, or to burnish its brand with expensive PR campaigns, can do nothing against the horrific reality streamed daily from Gaza to peoples phones.

Brig. Gen. Doug Wickert delivered “a sobering assessment of China’s growing military capabilities” in a briefing to community leaders, according to an Air Force press release. Wickert, the 412th Test Wing commander, spoke at Antelope Valley College on May 7.

Edwards Air Force Base is located in the Mojave desert about 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

Wickert referenced the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack in his briefing, the press release said, drawing parallels to warnings about Pearl Harbor’s vulnerability prior to the attack.

Such frank talk about the possible impact on a community around an American military base, in the event of a war with China over Taiwan, is rare.

Notably, Wickert’s comments appear to be fully endorsed and approved by the Department of Defense, signaling a changing attitude.

In January 2023, Gen. Mike Minihan, Commander of Air Mobility Command, which controls much of the air transport and air refueling capacity of the Department of Defense, said in a letter to his command, “My gut tells me we will fight in 2025. [Chinese leader Xi Jinping] secured his third term and set his war council in October 2022. Taiwan’s presidential elections are in 2024 and will offer Xi a reason. United States’ presidential elections are in 2024 and will offer Xi a distracted America. Xi’s team, reason, and opportunity are all aligned for 2025.”

Minihan wrote the letter to prepare his command for conflict. The Department of Defense quickly replied at the time, “These comments are not representative of the department’s view on China.”

A Wake-up Call for Community Leaders

Wickert’s audience consisted of local community leaders, leadership of critical infrastructure providers to the base, and members of Congress.

Rep. Vince Fong (R-Calif.) opened the briefing by discussing the necessity for stateside military installations to stay operational in the face of complex catastrophes, including military actions by adversaries.

Wickert compared Edwards, a massive facility focused on testing, research, and development, to its counterpart in the Chinese Air Force.

He presented intelligence data on the rapid modernization and “staggering” growth of the Chinese army, the press release said. Using Google Earth imagery, he pointed to Dingxin Test and Training Base in the Gobi Desert, China’s equivalent of Edwards AFB. “The base sits next to a full-scale two-dimensional replica of Taiwan’s Taichung International Airport,” according to the release.

“It’s kind of clear what their intention is,” Wickert said.

The Israeli military on Thursday told residents of four neighborhoods in Beirut's southern suburbs to evacuate ahead of strikes on what it said were underground Hezbollah drone-manufacturing sites, and thousands fled.

What Happened to ‘Hamas Is ISIS & ISIS Is Hamas’?

Benjamin Netanyahu often spread the slogan to solidify Western support for Israel’s savagery in Gaza. Now the lie has been exposed once and for all, writes Joe Lauria.

Nine years before Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu was already at it, comparing Hamas with ISIS. He complained to the U.N. General Assembly on Sept. 29, 2014 that some countries “evidently they did not understand that ISIS and Hamas were branches of the same poisonous tree.”

He told the Assembly:

“They shared a fanatical creed, which they sought to impose well beyond their own territories. When it came to their ultimate goals, Hamas was ISIS and ISIS was Hamas, and they were all militant Islamists, be they Boko Haram, Al Shabaab, various Al-Qaida branches or other terrorist groups. They shared a goal for a land with no tolerance, where women were chattel and minorities were subjugated, and sometimes presented the same stark choice: convert or die. Anyone could be considered an infidel, including fellow Muslims.”

Like the Nazis Too

He then took the opportunity to make the most important comparison of all, one that Israel uses to justify the genocide they are carrying out today in Gaza.

“The Nazis had believed in a master race, while the militant Islamists believed in a master faith,” he said. In other words, to prevent another genocide against the Jews, Israel must commit a genocide of its own.

The 2009 film Defamation by Israeli filmmaker Yoav Shamir exposes the conditioning of Israelis by the state. The last scene shows a teenager who was on a school trip to Auschwitz. She went as a typical youngster excited about taking her first airplane ride.

By the end of the trip she says she’d like to kill all the Nazis who did that to her people. Told that they are now dead, she chillingly says, “They have heirs.” For the likes of Netanyahu, those heirs are the Palestinians, totally innocent of the crimes of the Holocaust.

The 15-year old film shows how an irrational exaggeration of anti-Semitism and unfounded fear of a new genocide against Jews is deliberately fostered by Israel. Netanyahu and his extremist government, in a classic case of projection as he himself oversees an obvious genocide, says this threat of genocide against Jews comes from Hamas, which he says is the same as ISIS.

After the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him in May 2024, Netanyahu said Israel was “waging a just war against Hamas, a genocidal terrorist organisation that perpetrated the worst attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.” To deflect attention from your own crimes blame others of them. He accused the ICC prosecutor of being “like judges in Nazi Germany who denied Jews basic rights and enabled the Holocaust,” the BBC reported.

The “Hamas is ISIS” theme is one Netanyahu has banged on repeatedly.

“Just as the forces of civilization united to defeat ISIS, the forces of civilization must support Israel in defeating Hamas,” Netanyahu said just after the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel.
