Trump Hints At 'Possible' US Entry Into War Amid Stepped-Up Israeli Daytime Attacks On Tehran

After Saturday reports widely said that Israel requested direct US military assistance in attacking Iranian nuclear sites, President Trump in fresh comments to ABC News has begun to change the White House tune a little, as he now says it's 'possible' the US 'could get involved' in the Israel-Iran conflict.

He told ABC's Rachel Scott that "it's possible we could get involved" - however he emphasized that the US military is "not at this moment involved" in the conflict. He pivoted to calling for peaceful resolution, saying the US would be "open" to Russian President Vladimir Putin being a mediator in. "He is ready. He called me about it. We had a long talk about it," Trump said. Of course, he campaigned against new wars starting and said these major conflicts would not have happened if he was president.

Regional sources are reporting on Sunday the highest number of observed strikes in daylight in an around Tehran. Israel's military says that over 80 sites were hit overnight, and has vowed to "hunt down" ballistic missile launchers in western Iran. Radar and anti-air defense batteries were also struck "as part of the IDF’s aerial superiority in Iranian airspace."

The densely populated capital of around 15 million has seen hundreds of thousands leave the city for safety. At least three different areas of Tehran have been heavily targeted in this latest wave, includin Niavaran to the north, and the Valiasr and Hafte Tir squares in the center of the city. Iran's emergency authorities have announced the opening of metro stations and mosques to serve as bomb shelters for the public starting Sunday night.

Death toll in Israel from Iran missile strikes hits 13, Iranian deaths exceed 400

Iran has launched retaliatory missile strikes against Israel since late on June 13 after Israel targeted Iranian nuclear sites and military leaders.

The death toll from the Israel-Iran conflict is rising as Israel and Iran exchange strikes for the third straight day.

Israel continues to claim victimhood, even as it slaughters children in Iran

We are told, again and again, that Israel is defending itself. But it is only defending its right to act with impunity throughout the Middle East to maintain its supremacy. Israel's attack on Iran is just the latest example.

In the early hours of June 13, Israeli fighter jets struck deep into Iranian territory, targeting military installations, apartment blocks, and reportedly killing senior Iranian officials, including the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The attacks came without warning. They were neither reactive nor defensive. And yet, the Israeli government, true to form, rushed to describe the assault as a “preemptive strike”—as if the law bends itself to match the anxieties of a nuclear-armed state.

But language cannot disguise illegality. Israel’s framing collapses under the weight of international law. Article 51 of the UN Charter authorizes the use of force only in cases of self-defense if an armed attack occurs. In exceptional cases, states have tried to invoke anticipatory self-defense, citing an imminent and unavoidable threat. But even under this controversial doctrine, the bar is extraordinarily high: the threat must be “instant, overwhelming, and leaving no choice of means and no moment for deliberation,” as the Caroline case—still the prevailing standard—puts it. By Israel’s own admission, this was not a response to any immediate Iranian attack. There was no missile barrage, no ground incursion, no declaration of war. It was, at most, a preventive strike—an illegal act of aggression dressed up in the language of legitimacy.

Israel’s defenders will claim that Iran’s nuclear program poses an existential threat, even though U.S. intelligence agencies continue to affirm that Iran is not currently developing a nuclear weapon. Others will point to Iran’s regional influence or its support for proxy forces. But none of this justifies bombing another sovereign country without an imminent threat. There is a difference between “anxiety” and legality, and Israel cannot continue to collapse the two every time it chooses to strike.

This attack was not isolated. It is the latest flare in a sustained pattern of extraterritorial violence. In the past three years alone, Israel has bombed Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and now Iran—each time under the pretense of defense, each time flattening civilian infrastructure, killing children, and then turning to the world with outstretched hands, insisting it is the aggrieved party. It is a state that moves as if it were always under siege and always entitled to strike first, not in response to threat, but in response to the possibility of parity.

Indeed, Israeli officials seem to understand what their actions might provoke. In the hours following the attack on Tehran, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that Israel was bracing for a “significant attack from the east.” A state truly acting in self-defense does not expect retaliation from the victim of its own aggression. What this reveals is not fear, but strategy. Israel struck Iran knowing it could provoke a response—knowing it could then leverage that retaliation to justify further escalation, knowing the cycle would deepen, and that the U.S. would once again be called upon to “stand by its ally.”

Will Americans Support “War on Iran for Israel?”

Do you think the U.S. citizens right now, the U.S. population, is ready to sacrifice many of their sons and daughters once again to go to war and die for the Israeli regime?

No, and I think this is a huge miscalculation on the part of the Zionist element in the American administration, and indeed the Congress. They seem to imagine that somehow they can gain enough popular support for a war that they can credibly threaten Iran. And I think that’s not the case. Neither of the two sides of the American red-versus-blue schism is the slightest bit interested in another big war for Israel. Obviously, the blue side, that is the Democrats who are opposed to Trump, are not going to be following the baboon in the White House like he’s some kind of great leader. We see a huge movement now rising up against “King Trump,” the “we don’t want a king” movement. And we see California getting close to wanting to secede from the union rather than allow Trump to send federal troops in to occupy California and have his way with the immigrants.

So the U.S. is on the brink of falling apart. There might be some in the Zionist circles of the Trump administration who imagine that somehow Trump could play the role of a macho, fearless leader and try to unite the country in a big war. But I think they’re probably even a minority within the administration. The majority of Trump support comes from people who see through these wars for Israel, who are sick of them, who don’t want more losing wars, like the catastrophes in Iraq and Afghanistan under the neocons.

So neither side is interested in any such war, and there’s no way that any interest or commitment to such a war could ever be sustained. It’ll never even really get off the ground. But even if they were able to whip up some kind of hysteria, if some Americans, a lot of Americans, suddenly died on Mideast military bases, I think that that rally around the flag effect would last about five seconds.

So the U.S. is not prepared for any major war. The Israelis, unfortunately, are. And they’re the ones who are trying to drag the U.S. into yet another disastrous war for Israel, which would certainly be lost and would probably be the final nail in the coffin of the U.S. empire.

FBI agents have been ordered to put aside national security investigations to aid the effort.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation is frantically trying to complete the destruction of the files related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation before their public release.

Agents are ’working around the clock’ and have even suspended ongoing investigations to process the files, it claimed, citing sources familiar with the efforts.

Every FBI division was ordered to provide agents for the task, including those working on criminal and national security issues, the named US broadcaster said.

According to the report, the amendments were required under federal law. The US Justice Department (DOJ) still vowed to ’deliver unprecedented transparency for the American people’ in a statement to CNN.

The Republican president who vowed to “Make America Great Again” by ending “endless wars” now finds himself on the precipice of a potential new one.

Israel’s airstrikes on Iran Thursday came after President Donald Trump said he was hopeful for a nuclear deal and made clear publicly that he did not want Israel to interfere by acting militarily.

Israel defied Trump. Trump now says he knew about the strikes all along.

The president wrote on Truth Social early Friday, “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to ‘just do it,’ but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done.” He went on:

“Certain Iranian hardliner’s spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse!” Trump said. “Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”

Trump’s next move is unknown. But some of the most prominent voices within his extended MAGA movement are pleading with the president not to drag the U.S. into another Middle Eastern war.

Tucker Carlson says Trump is complicit in the strikes and insists that this isn’t America’sfight.

“While the American military may not have physically perpetrated the assault, years of funding and sending weapons to Israel, which Donald Trump just bragged about on Truth Social, undeniably place the U.S. at the center of last night’s events,” Carlson wrote in his Friday newsletter to paid subscribers.

“Washington knew these attacks would happen,” he added. “They aided Israel in carrying them out.”

“It’s worth taking a step back and wondering how any of this helps the United States,” the newsletter reads. “We can’t think of a single way.”

Carlson continued, “If Israel wants to wage this war, it has every right to do so. It is a sovereign country, and it can do as it pleases. But not with America’s backing.”
