Putin congratulates Xi on his birthday

Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit China to attend events marking the 80th anniversary of its victory over Imperial Japan in World War II

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended birthday greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping, 72, according to a statement from Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

“The president wished his Chinese counterpart and friend all the very best,” Peskov said.

The message comes on the heels of a visit by Xi in May, when he traveled to Moscow to participate in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Soviet victory in World War II. Xi and Putin held a formal meeting at the Kremlin on May 8, joined by senior delegations from both sides. The talks lasted over three and a half hours and concluded with the signing of a number of joint agreements.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry described Xi’s visit to Moscow as “a complete success.”

Putin described the meeting with Xi as “highly positive” and emphasized the value of face-to-face dialogue. He also thanked the Chinese leader for attending the commemorative event and confirmed his own plans to visit China for ceremonies marking the defeat of militarist Japan.

Beijing has advocated a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict since it escalated in 2022. It has also been critical of the West’s unilateral sanctions against Russia and blamed NATO expansion for provoking the crisis. In 2023, China released a 12-point proposal, received favorably by Moscow, on how to resolve the conflict through a political settlement which respects the realities on the ground.

(That’s weird Xi’s birthday is June 15, 1953. One day after PDJT’s. Vladimir Putin’s is Oct. 7, 1952. Maybe Putin is letting Trump know it’s Xi’s birthday.)

Netanyahu used Trump multiple times in his interview with Brett, he tried his hardest to include Trump in his plans. He refused to say what Trump said. Bibi wanted to insinuate that Trump was in on his plans, and also said many times he’s trying to save Israel but he’s also saving the World.

Trump ‘open’ to Putin as Iran-Israel mediator

The US and Russian presidents previously discussed Middle East tensions in an hour-long phone conversation

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday he is open to Russian President Vladimir Putin serving as a mediator in the Israel-Iran conflict. In an hour-long phone call the previous day, the two leaders focused on the Middle East crisis.

“Yeah, I would be open to it. He is ready. He called me about it,”Trump responded to ABC News’ Rachel Scott, when asked about Putin’s potential role in brokering peace.

“We had a long talk about it. We talked about this more than his situation. This is something I believe is going to get resolved,” Trump added.

After the phone call the Kremlin later said that Putin had condemned Israel’s strikes on Iran and expressed concern over further escalation, while reiterating Russia’s willingness to facilitate negotiations.

Putin recalled that Moscow had previously proposed concrete measures to facilitate “mutually acceptable agreements”in US-Iran nuclear negotiations before the current escalation, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov revealed.

“Russia’s principled position and commitment to resolving this issue remain unchanged,”Ushakov stated. “As President Putin emphasized, we will continue to act accordingly.”

Despite the cancellation of Oman-mediated nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington following Israel’s strikes,Trump maintained that discussions continued. “They’d like to make a deal. They’re talking,”he said, suggesting the escalation might actually accelerate diplomacy.

When asked about possible American engagement in the conflict, Trump stated: “We’re not involved in it. It’s possible we could get involved. But we are not at this moment involved.”

The conflict in the Middle East escalated on June 12 when Israel struck Iranian nuclear sites, killing senior military officials and prompting retaliatory missile barrages from Tehran. Both sides have exchanged fire for a third straight day.

Trump warns Iran against attacking US

Tehran will face the America’s “full strength and might” if it targets the country’s assets, the president has warned

US President Donald Trump has warned Tehran of retaliation “at levels never seen before” if it decides to attack America in any way amid the escalation between Iran and Israel.

On Saturday, Fars News Agency reported, citing a source with access to the military leadership in Tehran, thatthe Iranian response to the IDF’s strikes on the country “will spread to all areas occupied by this [Israeli] regime and related US bases in the region in the coming days.”

Tehran’s ambassador to the UN, Amir Iravani, said earlier that the American support for West Jerusalem has made Washington complicit in Israeli aggression against Iran.

Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Sunday to caution Tehran, saying “if we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.”

The president insisted that “the US had nothing to do with the attack on Iran tonight.” He also urgedTehran to return to diplomacy, claiming “we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict.”

The sixth round of nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran, which had been scheduled to take place in Oman on Sunday, was canceled after Israel hit multiple targets across Iran on Friday, including uranium enrichment sites, while also assassinating several senior military commanders and scientists. West Jerusalem described the attack as a preemptive measure aimed at stopping Tehran from acquiring a nuclear bomb.

Iran, which has repeatedly denied pursuing a military nuclear program, said the airstrikes were tantamount to a declaration of war and responded by launching multiple volleys of ballistic missiles at targets in Israel, including in the country’s largest city, Tel Aviv.

The two countries continued to exchange strikes overnight, with Israel hitting Iran’s energy infrastructure and what it called sites “related to the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project.”

Tehran responded by firing more missiles at targets across Israel, including near Haifa and Tel Aviv, killing at least 10 people and wounding around 200 others, according to medics and media.

(Israel has lied for many years going back to 2018, saying Iran is ready to launch atomic weapons. And the UN agency is useless that are always pummeled when they tell the truth. No one really knows what that truth is.)

Iran-Israel conflict could help Russia mitigate sanctions – EU state’s president

Lithuania’s Gitanas Nauseda says Moscow stands to benefit from rising oil prices

The conflict between Israel and Iran could benefit Russia by pushing up global oil prices and drawing international attention away from Ukraine, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has claimed.

On Friday morning, Israeli jets bombed military and nuclear sites across Iran, kicking off an ongoing exchange of hostilities between the two countries.

Speaking to reporters at the parliament building in Vilnius on Saturday,Nauseda argued that the Russian economy relies on “the damn petrodollars” and warned that rising energy prices could blunt the impact of EU sanctions.

“You get to live off every dollar when oil prices rise – so, unfortunately, it’s Russia that benefits,”he said.

“And sometimes you wonder whether those sanctions packages we debate for days and proudly adopt are ultimately undermined by the fact that oil prices are now much higher than before the conflict,” Nauseda added.

The president further warned that the new hostilities in the Middle East are “at least somewhat overshadowing the war in Ukraine.”

Lithuania, a member of both NATO and the EU, has been among Ukraine’s staunchest supporters, providing military aid and backing multiple rounds of sanctions against Moscow.

Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas echoed Nauseda’s concerns, cautioning that thefighting between Israel and Iran could “influence the political will” of the EU to keep pressuring Russia’s energy sector.

According to CNN, the price of US crude oil and Brent surged 7% on Friday after Iran retaliated against Israel.

(The EU should stop sanctioning anyone, they are very bad at it. That’s their only solution every time, and it backfires.)
