House Democrats are getting torched by their own base - and some of their constituents are literally suggesting they light a match. Shocker, we know - from the party that held nationwide riots over George Floyd (though 'mostly peaceful' of course), tried to assassinate Donald Trump and Steve Scalise, and put Rand Paul in the hospital.

Liberal activists are confronting Democratic lawmakers in town halls, office meetings, and online, demanding they ditch political niceties and start “fighting dirty” — even if it means getting hurt, arrested, or worse.

Israel to forcibly draft ultra-Orthodox seminary students

The military orders follow a court decision ending exemptions for the community

Israel's military has announced plans to forcibly draft 54,000 ultra-Orthodox seminary students this month following a Supreme Court order nullifying their exemptions, the IDF reported in a Telegram post on Sunday.

Military service is mandatory for most citizens of Israel, with both men and women required to serve in the IDF for a period of 24 to 32 months, usually starting at age 18. Most of the country's Arab population, who comprise 21% of the population, is exempt from military service, although some volunteer. The documents show that USAID funded the exportation of 11,000 samples from Yunnan Province, where some of the closest relatives of the COVID-19 virus circulate, to Wuhan, the epicenter of the pandemic, with no apparent plan for ensuring the samples were not misdirected to bioweapons and remained accessible to the U.S. government.

A $210 million USAID public health program called PREDICT, steered by the University of California-Davis, collected viral samples in countries throughout the globe but lacked long-term storage when funding dried up, according to rudimentary plans in 2019.

USAID’s sample dispensation plan for China is sparse: “No need [sic] information from Yunnan. They were never an official lab partner for PREDICT. All samples they helped collected [sic] are sent to, tested, and stored in Wuhan.”

The “lab” refers to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). WIV was a close partner of USAID contractor EcoHealth Alliance and a slated partner for a PREDICT-like program supported by the State Department. The lab has poor biosafety practices and ties to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

One of the closest known relatives of the COVID virus is among the viruses sampled with USAID funding.

“Investigations involving USAID’s former funding of global health awards remain active and ongoing,” a senior State Department official said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The American people can rest assured knowing that under the Trump Administration we will not be funding these controversial programs.”

The internal documents were obtained through a FOIA lawsuit brought by U.S. Right to Know, a nonprofit newsroom and public health research group.

Note, summer convective cloud seeding operations in Texas do not occur during overnight hours. At 4:00 a.m. on July 4th, the NWS issued a life-threatening emergency warning, and flooding ensued.

Did Rainmaker conduct any operations that could have impacted the floods? No. The last seeding mission prior to the July 4th event was during the early afternoon of July 2nd, when a brief cloud seeding mission was flown over the eastern portions of south-central Texas, and two clouds were seeded. These clouds persisted for about two hours after seeding before dissipating between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CDT. Natural clouds typically have lifespans of 30 minutes to a few hours at most, with even the most persistent storm systems rarely maintaining the same cloud structure for more than 12-18 hours. The clouds that were seeded on July 2nd dissipated over 24 hours prior to the developing storm complex that would produce the flooding rainfall.

A senior meteorologist observed an unusually high moisture content prior to the event’s arrival, using NWS sounding data. It was at this point that our meteorologists determined that we would suspend future operations indefinitely. As you can see, we suspended operations on July 2nd, a day before the NWS issued any flood warning.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal didn’t just bring rain. They tore through central North Carolina with enough force to flood homes, drown highways, and trigger over 50 water rescues in a single night. The storm made landfall near Litchfield Beach, South Carolina early Sunday morning, then pushed north into the Carolinas. By Sunday evening, rainfall totals in Orange, Alamance, and Chatham counties hit 8 to 11 inches. The Eno River rose 20 feet in four hours. The Haw River crested at 32.5 feet, its second-highest level ever recorded. That’s higher than Hurricane Florence’s mark in 2018.

Chapel Hill was underwater. Bolin Creek spilled into Camelot Village, forcing evacuations. Eastgate Mall and University Place had standing water inside businesses. Cars were submerged. Roads collapsed. State Highway 902 in Chatham County gave out near Chatham Road. More than 120 roads were closed across the region. Interstate 40 and 85 were shut down near Durham. Power outages hit over 34,000 customers. Lake Michael Dam was flagged for possible failure. Orange County issued a voluntary evacuation for downstream areas.

The flash flooding wasn’t isolated. It hit hard across the Triad and Triangle. Mebane, Pittsboro, Hillsborough, Carrboro, and Durham all reported major damage. The National Weather Service confirmed tornado touchdowns in Lee and Chatham counties. Hangars and aircraft were damaged at the Raleigh Executive Jetport. Trees were ripped out of the ground. Mobile homes were destroyed. The storm’s wind gusts reached 60 mph. Chantal was the third named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. It arrived early. It left fast. But the damage is still being counted.

Governor Josh Stein declared local states of emergency in Alamance, Moore, and Orange counties. The Department of Transportation says it may take 48 hours to reopen major highways. The Southeast is expected to dry out by Tuesday, but the Mid-Atlantic is next. Chantal’s remnants are pushing into Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches are forecast. Flash flood alerts remain active.

This wasn’t a coastal event. It was inland chaos. Streets turned into rivers. Homes and cars went under. The system didn’t need hurricane strength to break records. It just needed time and saturation. And it got both.

Michigan Democrat Gov Whitmer grants pardons, commutations, including for five murderers

The four commutations were for men who had been sentenced to life without parole for first-degree murder

Michigan Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has recently granted pardons and commutations of life sentences, including for five murderers.

Whitmer on Thursday approved the Michigan Parole Board's recommendations of three pardons and four sentence commutations, The Detroit News reported.

The commutations were for men who had been sentenced to life without parole for first-degree murder. Those commuted were: Patrick McNamee, 86, sentenced in 1968 in Calhoun County; William Hurt, 80, sentenced in 1967 in Wayne County; Larry Cross, 69, sentenced in 1979 in Wayne County; and Jamie Meade, sentenced in 1993 in Wayne County.

Whitmer said that Meade was sentenced as an accomplice to a crime that occurred when he was 19, and that his co-defendant, who was more culpable in the crime, was released more than 17 years ago.

The men who were pardoned were: Jerry Williams, who was sentenced in Macomb County in 1971 to life in prison for second-degree murder, plus 30 days for non-payment of alimony or child support; Lu Thanh Le, who was sentenced to probation for attempted larceny from a motor vehicle and attempted unemployment fraud in separate cases in Kent County from 2001 and 2014; and Rodney Gibson, who was sentenced to spend up to 47 years in prison for armed robbery, assault and larceny charges in separate Wayne County cases from 1985 and 1990.

Since Williams' release from prison, he has become an award-winning social worker, church deacon, and mentor for youth in his community, according to state officials. Le has since obtained educational degrees and become a volunteer with the Red Cross, his children's school, and in his religious community, per officials. Gibson completed his sentences, and the pardon will let him better support his children, officials said.

International study reveals glyphosate weed killers cause multiple types of cancer

A comprehensive carcinogenicity study on the world's most used herbicide, glyphosate, involving scientists from Europe and the U.S., has found that low doses of the controversial weed killer cause multiple types of cancer in rats.

In this long-term study, published in Environmental Health on Tuesday, glyphosate alone and two commercial glyphosate-based formulations, Roundup BioFlow (MON 52276) used in the EU and Ranger Pro (EPA 524-517) used in the U.S., were administered to rats via drinking water beginning in prenatal life, at doses of 0.5, 5, and 50 mg/kg body weight/day for 2 years.

These doses are currently considered safe by regulatory agencies and correspond to the EU Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) and the EU's No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL) for glyphosate.

In all three treatment groups, increased incidences of benign and malignant tumors at multiple anatomic sites were observed compared to controls. These tumors arose in hemolymphoreticular tissues (leukemia), skin, liver, thyroid, nervous system, ovary, mammary gland, adrenal glands, kidney, urinary bladder, bone, endocrine pancreas, uterus and spleen (hemangiosarcoma).

Increased incidences occurred in both sexes. Most of these involved tumors that are rare in Sprague Dawley rats (background incidence < 1%) with 40% of leukemias deaths in the treated groups occurring in early life and increased early deaths were also observed for other solid tumors.

"We observed early onset and early mortality for a number of rare malignant cancers, including leukemia, liver, ovary and nervous system tumors. Notably, approximately half of the deaths from leukemia seen in the glyphosate and GBHs treatment groups occurred at less than one year of age, comparable to less than 35–40 years of age in humans.

"By contrast, no case of leukemia was observed in the first year of age in more than 1,600 Sprague Dawley historical controls in carcinogenicity studies conducted by the Ramazzini Institute and the National Toxicology Program (NTP)," stated Dr. Daniele Mandrioli, Director of the Cesare Maltoni Cancer Research Center of the Ramazzini Institute and Principal Investigator of the study.

Another Bad Day For Israeli Army In Gaza, 19 Troops Killed Or Wounded In Daring Attack

Five Israeli soldiers were killed and 14 were wounded after coming under attack in the area of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip late on July 7, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced.

Four of the slain soldiers served in the Kfir Brigade’s Netzah Yehuda Battalion, while the fifth served in the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade.

According to an initial IDF probe, the troops were hit by a bomb planted on the side of a road during a late night ground operation in Beit Hanoun. The troops were operating on foot and were not inside a vehicle. During attempts to extract the casualties, the forces came under fire.

Among the 14 other troops who were wounded in the daring attack in Beit Hanoun, two were reported to be in serious condition.

The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Gaza-ruling Hamas Movement, later claimed responsibility for the attack.

“The complex Beit Hanoun operation is an additional blow dealt by our valiant mujahideen to the prestige of the weak occupation army and its most criminal units, in an area the occupation had deemed safe after leaving no stone unturned,” the group spokesman Abu Obaida said in a post on Telegram.

“The battle of attrition our fighters are waging with the enemy from the north to the south of the Gaza Strip will inflict additional losses on it every day. While it recently miraculously succeeded in freeing its soldiers from hell, it may fail later, leaving us with additional prisoners,” he added.

The latest deaths brought the number of Israeli troops killed since the start of the large-scale offensive against the Hamas Movement in Gaza, codenamed “Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” to 30.

In total, Israel’s toll in ground operations in the Strip and along its border since the start of ground operations there has reached 449.

Israel launched Operation Gideon’s Chariots in May after calling up tens of thousands of reservists. The IDF said at the time that it wants to occupy 75 percent of Gaza in two months. As of July 4, at least 65 percent of the Strip had been captured, according to the military.

Once the operation is completed, more than two million Palestinians will be crammed in three isolated small zones in the southern, central and northern parts of the Strip.

Ukraine was widely recognized as the most corrupt country even before the Ukraine war, but since war broke out and tens of billions of euros have flowed into the country, corruption has flourished like never before. Swiss newspaper Neue Züricher Zeitung details how a clique of oligarchs, many of them close to President Volodymyr Zelensky, have grown famously wealthy.

“These big businessmen are profiting enormously from the war, while also being patriotic, pro-Western and very discreet,” wrote the Swiss Neue Züricher Zeitung‘s (NZZ) Kyiv correspondent, Guillaume Ptak.

In other words, instead of showing off with sports cars, these new oligarchs know they have to keep their wealth hidden amid a devastating war. The paper details five individuals who have profited enormously.

“The war, which has entered its fourth year, is proving to be a profitable field for businessmen like Andri Stawnizer, Andri Kobolev, Oleksander Hereha, Andri Kolodyuk, and Vasil Khmelnitsky. The quintet has established itself in the war economy, investing in rebuilding what the Russian army destroys time and again. earns a fortune in strategic sectors such as logistics, energy, or construction materials. Typical war profiteers? Sure. But not entirely,” writes the Swiss paper.

They are making a fortune in strategic sectors. While this could be considered typical war profiteering it is also seen in a more positive light, since they ultimately support the army and the civilian population. According to the NZZ journalist, they are therefore“not like their classic predecessors, who recovered after the change of regime. They were mostly swept away by the war. The new generation does not buy TVs, newspapers or representatives, nor parties or private armies.”

NZZ writes that this new generation of oligarchs is not like the old one, and that “reins are held by President Volodymyr Zelensky.”

While Ukrainian authorities welcome most of the new oligarchs, this does not mean that they automatically have good relations with the presidential office. The paper notes that Kobolev, in particular, was known for his anti-corruption activities even before the war. He reportedly does not have the best relationship with Zelensky and has now been charged with corruption himself.

As for the other four, the paper does not make any allegations of corruption, but Ukraine is known as a country where corruption is entrenched from the top to the bottom of the system. Many leading officials have been charged with corruption, but skeptics claim that in many cases, these are only the officials who ran afoul of someone with more power, who wanted to remove a rival or settle a score.
