China-Linked Hackers Breach US Nuclear Weapons Agency In Sophisticated Operation

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has been hit by a sophisticated cyberattack that exploited a previously unknown vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint, and is being widely described by one of the most serious breaches of US defense infrastructure this year. Fingers in the West are pointing to Beijing.

Hackers believed linked to the Chinese government used a zero-day exploit targeting on-premises versions of SharePoint to infiltrate over 50 organizations, including the agency responsible for the Navy’s nuclear submarine reactors. China is vehemently denying the charge.

The NNSA oversees both the production of nuclear reactors for submarines and the maintenance of the US nuclear arsenal. Cybersecurity experts are currently describing what's known as an advanced remote code execution (RCE) attack.

The vulnerability reportedly affected SharePoint Server 2019 and the Subscription Edition, which allowed attackers to bypass security protocols and execute arbitrary commands on targeted systems, as described in Bloomberg.

The US Department of Energy is well-known to use Microsoft 365 cloud systems for a lot of its SharePoint work. "The department was minimally impacted due to its widespread use of the Microsoft M365 cloud and very capable cybersecurity systems," a Department of Energy spokesperson conveyed in a statement to Bloomberg. "A very small number of systems were impacted. All impacted systems are being restored."

It's believed the hackers were able to gain unauthorized access, steal data, collect login credentials, and potentially move deeper into connected networks; however, the Department of Energy has claimed no classified or sensitive nuclear data was compromised in the breach.

Officials credited the agency’s early transition to Microsoft 365 cloud services for minimizing the impact of the breach, as the vulnerability specifically affected only on-premises SharePoint systems and did not impact the cloud-based platform.

“The department experienced minimal impact thanks to its broad adoption of Microsoft M365 and robust cybersecurity infrastructure,” a DOE spokesperson said.

“These lies have caused tremendous damage to the Macrons,” according to the Macrons lawsuit, which names Owens as well her business entities, which are incorporated in Delaware.

The false claims have subjected the Macrons to a “campaign of global humiliation, turning their lives into fodder for profit-driven lies,” the complaint says.

“Owens has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade,” the complaint alleges. “The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale. Every time the Macrons leave their home, they do so knowing that countless people have heard, and many believe, these vile fabrications. It is invasive, dehumanizing, and deeply unjust.”

US Government Worker Blocked From Leaving China, State Department Confirms

China is preventing a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office employee from leaving the country, the U.S. State Department confirmed on July 21.

“We are tracking this case very closely and are engaged with Chinese officials to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” the State Department told The Epoch Times in a statement. “The Department of State has no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens.”

The employee, traveling “in a personal capacity,” was “made subject to an exit ban,” the agency said.

The statement confirmed a report by The Washington Post on July 20 that an American citizen working for the U.S. Commerce Department had traveled to China to visit family several months ago, citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation. The individual was barred from leaving China because he had failed to disclose his employment with the U.S. government on his visa application, the report said.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is a federal agency under the Commerce Department.

The State Department currently maintains a “Level 2” travel advisory for China, urging travelers to “exercise increased caution” due to “arbitrary enforcement of local laws, including in relation to exit bans.”

The advisory explains that Chinese authorities may impose exit bans to compel the individual to cooperate with investigations, pressure family members of the targeted individual to return to China from abroad, influence the outcome of civil disputes in favor of Chinese citizens, and “gain bargaining leverage over foreign governments.”

Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, responded to the incident by reminding Americans that communist China doesn’t observe the rule of law.

“American companies and citizens traveling to China need to be aware of how the Chinese government uses arbitrary exit bans as a form of hostage diplomacy,” Risch wrote on X on July 21.

“For those seeking to do business with China, this is a reminder that rule of law does not exist there—and your safety is at risk.”

Poland advises citizens to leave Russia

Moscow has designated Poland a “hostile” state in response to economic sanctions and support for Ukraine

Poland’s Foreign Ministry has issued an advisory strongly recommending that all Polish nationals residing in Russia leave the country if possible. The warning comes as ties between Moscow and Warsaw have sunk to historic lows amid the Ukraine conflict and tit-for-tat diplomatic restrictions.

According to the statement published on the government website, which drew attention from the Russian and Polish media this week, the ministry cautions against all travel to Russia, citing the Ukraine conflict and Russia’s official designation of Poland as a “hostile state.”

Russia officially included Poland – which has joined Western sanctions and has been one of Ukraine’s staunchest supporters – on its list of “unfriendly states” in 2022. The designation allows the Russian authorities to impose restrictions on diplomatic missions and often entails limitations on trade and monetary transactions.

Consequently, “Polish citizens residing in Russia [are recommended to] leave its territory by available commercial and private means, unless their personal, family, or professional circumstances require them to remain in the country,” the ministry said.

Polish officials also warned of potential problems with direct consular assistance to Polish citizens due to the closing of diplomatic missions, which may require visitors “to travel to very distant consular offices.”

The advisory highlights several obstacles facing Polish nationals in Russia, including the suspension of direct flights between the two countries, restricted travel options, and difficulties accessing funds via Polish bank cards.

It also claims that Polish nationals may face “arbitrary detention” while in Russia. Over the past several years, there have been no high-profile cases of a Polish national being detained in the country.

William Bennett, who served under the Reagan administration from 1985-1988, has registered with the Department of Justice (DOJ) as the senior education advisor to the Embassy of Qatar. Bennett is tasked with defending American university branch campuses in Qatar and publicizing “the fact that Qatari higher education efforts do not support radical Islamicist movements or positions.”

“In light of Dr. Bennett’s extensive professional history dealing with education, the purpose of this engagement is to provide him with information relating to American universities offering curriculum in Qatar, to allow him to review and understand funding decisions made by the Qatari government relating to these schools, to promote Western understanding of the nature of these expenditures and the nature of the curriculum, and, most broadly, to promote economic and cultural understanding between Qatar and the United States,” the registration paperwork reads.

Bennett started the new position around June 30 and will be compensated $30,000 a month by the Qatari government for seven months. His job duties will include “communications to U.S. political office holders” as well as writing op-eds, conducting radio and TV interviews and working with Congress.

Bennett did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.

Many prominent universities, such as Georgetown and Northwestern, have had branch campuses in Qatar for years, enrolling hundreds of students. The schools host undergraduate programs exploring foreign service and communications.

American partnerships with Qatar have led to national security concerns, which eventually prompted the closure of Texas A&M University’s Qatari campus due to “heightened instability in the Middle East” despite the school denying any security risk. Qatar’s U.S. embassy has denied having any influence in American politics and education.

Qatar has also long funded middle eastern studies programs at many major U.S. schools and universities, prompting suspicions from Congress about its influence at the institutions especially as anti-Israel protests flooded the country. Qatar reportedly has direct ties to Hamas, apparently housing its leaders, The Times of Israel reported, citing Qatari government official Majed al-Ansari, and sending millions of dollars to Gaza amid its war on Israel, according to CNN.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order in April requiring American universities to be more transparent about any foreign donations they accept in an effort to limit foreign influence in education. Many schools are now under investigation for allegedly failing to properly disclose their foreign donations.

The Trump administration’s probing has prompted several American universities to close their satellite campuses in foreign nations such as China.

Lawsuit Against HHS, RFK Jr. Seeks To Add COVID Vaccines To Injury Compensation Program

Paul Brundage says he developed a serious blood-clotting disorder after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, but can’t pursue compensation under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program because HHS failed in its legal obligation to add the shot to the list of vaccines covered under the program.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services violated federal law by failing to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of vaccines covered under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), according to a lawsuit filed by a man diagnosed with a severe blood-clotting disorder he alleges was caused by the vaccine.

Paul Brundage filed the lawsuit in January against then-U.S. Health Secretary Xavier Beccera. However, Becerra’s successor, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., became the target of the suit when he was confirmed in February.

The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, also known as the “Vaccine Act,” requires HHS to add vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for routine use in children or pregnant women to the Vaccine Injury Table within two years of the CDC’s recommendation.

According to the complaint, the two-year period has elapsed, and Brundage “should now be eligible to bring a claim for compensation for his injury in the United States Court of Federal Claims” under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP).

However, Brundage is “not able to pursue compensation under the VICP” because HHS has not added the COVID-19 vaccine to the Vaccine Injury Table, the lawsuit states.

Under the Vaccine Act’s Citizen’s Action provision, citizens may pursue civil action against the HHS secretary “where there is alleged a failure of the Secretary to perform any act or duty” contained within the Vaccine Act.

The provision requires claimants to provide 60 days’ notice to the secretary, which the lawsuit states Brundage did in November 2024.

“The beauty of this provision is that it empowers the average citizen to ask a judge to force the HHS Secretary to take action,” said Ray Flores, senior outside counsel for Children’s Health Defense (CHD) and an expert on vaccine injury compensation cases. “It even provides for attorney fees.”

Flores said Brundage’s lawsuit is not the first or the only pending citizen’s action against the HHS. In May, Flores sued Kennedy for violating the 1986 Vaccine Act, which requires HHS to establish a task force dedicated to making childhood vaccines safer and to provide U.S. Congress with progress reports every two years.

Since Congress passed the act over 35 years ago, no health secretary — including Kennedy — has convened such a task force or reported to Congress on steps taken toward making vaccines safer. CHD is funding the lawsuit.

FBI arrests OmegaPro founders over $650M Ponzi scheme after global crypto scam promised 300% returns and projected logo on Burj Khalifa

The FBI just closed the door on one of the largest crypto Ponzi schemes in recent history. On July 8, federal agents arrested Michael Shannon Sims and Juan Carlos Reynoso for orchestrating a $650 million fraud through a fake investment platform called OmegaPro. The indictment was unsealed in the District of Puerto Rico. Sims was picked up in Georgia. Reynoso was already in custody after a separate contempt case tied to the same operation.

OmegaPro launched in 2019 and marketed itself as a high-yield forex and crypto investment firm. The pitch was simple: invest in “elite trader” packages and receive 300% returns in 16 months. The catch? No trading ever occurred. The DOJ confirmed that investor funds were rerouted through crypto wallets controlled by OmegaPro insiders, then laundered and siphoned off to fund luxury lifestyles.

The marketing was aggressive. Sims and Reynoso hosted global events, including a stunt where they projected the OmegaPro logo onto the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Social media was flooded with images of designer watches, exotic cars, and beachfront villas. The illusion worked. Thousands of investors across Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. bought in. Victims were told their money was safe. It wasn’t.

In January 2023, OmegaPro claimed it had been hacked. Investors were told their accounts were being transferred to a new platform called Broker Group. That platform never worked. Withdrawals were blocked. Wallets were drained. The DOJ says the “hack” was a cover for the final laundering phase.

Reynoso’s travel history raised red flags. Between 2020 and mid-2025, he logged 68 trips to 21 countries. His Binance account received over $21.4 million in crypto deposits. He allegedly paid traffickers to smuggle family members into Florida by boat. One of them was caught with a photo of Reynoso and identified him as the organizer. That detail came from court filings tied to his pretrial detention hearing.

Victims in Puerto Rico say they were promised guaranteed returns and told the company was licensed. Florida investors say they were recruited through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Colombian regulators flagged OmegaPro in 2022, but the warnings didn’t reach U.S. investors. ICE and IRS investigators traced the funds through wallet addresses and offshore brokers. The paper trail was long. The fraud was simple.

Oregon passes rules restricting pumpkin patches, flower festivals and farm dinners, threatening collapse of small agritourism businesses

Oregon’s Department of Land Conservation and Development finalized a rule package that rural counties are calling a death sentence. The Farm and Forest Modernization Rules take effect in January 2025. The state says it is about preserving farmland. On the ground, farmers say it is a chokehold.

The rules hit agritourism first. Farm stands can no longer rely on cider, crafts, or food sales. Only 25% of revenue can come from non-farm products. That means no bundled hayride tickets, no outdoor dinners, no fall festivals to drive volume. One Marion County farm said 82% of their October income came from pumpkins and hot cider.
