On Tuesday, worthless Senator Thom Tillis (RINO-NC) announced that he will not vote to confirm highly competent attorney Paul Ingrassia to the Office of Special Counsel.

 

The vote is scheduled for Thursday.

 

Tillis announced he was not running for reelection in 2026 last month. He didn’t have a chance of winning anyway. He is a typical Republican RINO who hates his voter base.

 

Now, Tillis says he will not confirm brilliant attorney Paul Ingrassia to the Office of Special Counsel.

Senator James “open borders” Lankford is vacillating.

 

The Gateway Pundit announced in May that one of our former writers has been nominated to head the United States Office of the Special Counsel!

According to their website, the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) is an investigative and prosecutorial office that works to end government and political corruption, and to protect government employees and whistleblowers.

 

Paul Ingrassia left the Gateway Pundit earlier this year to serve in the Trump administrationas the White House Liaison to the Department of Justice and Homeland Security==.

 

Ingrassia, a gifted writer who advocated for J’6ers and pushed for their release the night after President Trump pardoned them, caught the President’s attention with his well-researched and attention-grabbing articles.

 

Ingrassia is also a free speech absolutist. Ingrassia will face a Senate Hearing led by Rand Paul on Thursday.

 

But now it looks like his confirmation is in jeopardy thanks to RINOs.

Emails from Professional Analyst to the release of this ICA, and how irritated he is. It's good to know they actually exist:

They pray for him? Damn. That's admirable, and something I don't even know I'd be able to do if I was in a similar situation. Think those family members of the victims need more prayers than their murderer that has no remorse. Think I'll focus on that for a wee bit.

Rocket test facility set to support UK space sector

A Cold War-era armoured building close to the Mull of Kintyre is set to see action again as the base for a cutting-edge rocket test and teaching facility.

The facility, called MachLab, has opened at a business park on the site of the former RAF Machrahanish airbase near Campbeltown.

 

MachLab was established by researchers from the University of Glasgow and backed by close to £500,000 in funding from industry, including matched contribution from the UK Space Agency.

It aims to support the research and development of new rocket engines capable of delivering up to one tonne of thrust.

 

Researchers from academia and industry will be able to fire experimental rocket designs and gather data on their performance using MachLab’s custom-built test stand.

MachLab will also help establish the UK’s next generation of rocket engineers through specialist training, including a University of Glasgow-led programme called Rocketry Research Teaching Training, or R2T2.

The programme, also funded by the UK Space Agency, will bring rocketry students from all over the UK to MachLab to develop their skills and test new rocket designs.

 

Dr Krzysztof Bzdyk and Professor Patrick Harkness, of the University of Glasgow’s James Watt School of Engineering partnered with space technology experts Exotopic to design and build the MachLab facility.

Machlab forms part of Exotopic’s growing R&D infrastructure at the Machrihanish site and the Glasgow researchers are continuing to collaborate with their counterparts at Exotopic on the delivery of the operational service.

 

Professor Harkness said: “MachLab is ready to play a key role in the UK’s strategy to return to vertical launch, ensuring that students and researchers can access hotfire facilities in a safe and controlled environment.

“MachLab will allow us to co-operate with other countries establishing or re-establishing their access to space. We have already had visitors from South Africa and we expect to welcome partners from Australia in the near future.

The UK is returning to vertical launch and will be going to the stars. We are building that future here, today.”

 

Jack Tufft and Jack Davies are PhD students at the University of Glasgow, working on space propulsion. They were key members of the MachLab team.

Jack Davies said: “Being part of the team to make this facility come to fruition has been a great experience and it will enable research for spaceflight and planetary landing.”

 

The facility has already hosted an initial test-fire of new 3D-printed rocket engines with an advanced cooling system, designed by Jack Tufft and supported by funding from the UK Space Agency.

The TORC-1, -2 and -3 engines use a high-strength aerospace alloy made from copper, chromium and zirconium and were built to explore use of topology optimisation in regenerative cooling channel design, which can improve performance by making the engines lighter and more efficient.

The design was supported by ToffeeX, a physics-driven generative design software platform and by Aconity3D GmbH, who specialise in the development of state-of-the-art and beyond machines for additive manufacturing.

In the future, MachLab will enable the development of rocket engines using solid, liquid and cryogenic propellants designed to carry payloads into space.

 

The rocket test stand in MachLab’s fortified lab allows researchers to fire prototype rockets while they remain safely locked down and stationary.

Retired Beaver County police captain charged with possessing child pornography

 

BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A retired Brighton Township police captain has been charged with possessing child pornography.

 

Peter James Benedict Jr., 68, of Beaver, is charged with 11 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

 

According to court records, a CyberTip was received June 6 for activity with a suspected file of child pornography.

 

Investigators subpoenaed information from an internet service provider and were able to track the activity to Benedict’s address.

 

Police executed a search warrant at Benedict’s home, where he reportedly confessed to viewing child pornography on a home computer.

 

Benedict is being held in the Beaver County Prison with bail set at $500,000.

Top Space Force General in Europe Working on ‘Common Ground’ with Allies, NATO

As NATO considers its approach to space, the top U.S. Space Force general in Europe says he’s waiting for the alliance to finalize its approach to the domain.

In the meantime, the U.S. is working with its allies to help build up their space capabilities and, in turn, make countries stronger together.

 

The goal, Brig. Gen. Jacob Middleton said July 22 at AFA’s Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, is a “resilient architecture” of space assets that the U.S. and its allies can leverage.

“When I’m out visiting one of our partners and allies, the very first thing I start with is their national sovereign concerns,” said Middleton, who heads U.S. Space Forces Europe and Africa.

“And then we walk that back into regional concerns, and then, in the case of NATO, the alliance concerns. Obviously within that are U.S. objectives and U.S. security concerns.

“But it’s a federated approach, where you start with solving concerns, and then you come together where there’s common ground, and it builds a more resilient architecture, because it allows each sovereign nation to go after their sovereign concerns on their own, but it allows us to work as a team, also with interoperability.”

 

While the head of U.S. Air Forces in Europe also serves as the head of NATO Allied Air Command, Middleton noted that he has no NATO authorities.

“NATO is currently working through what they want their space infrastructure to look like in the end,” Middleton said. “They have an ops center, and they are putting this structure in place, but there hasn’t been a vote on how that’s going to look.”

NATO first declared space an operational domain in 2019, then established a Space Center within Allied Air Command in 2020.

By 2024, the alliance had established the Combined Force Space Component Command and the NATO Space Operations Center, both of which are still located at Allied Air Command.

 

During that time, the alliance has also embarked on its first ever space program, a “virtual constellation” that will pool and distribute intelligence and surveillance data culled from both national and commercial satellites.

And last year, the first U.S. Space Force general officer assigned to NATO, Maj. Gen. Devin R. Pepper, suggested the alliance may one day procure and operate space assets of its own, much as it owns aircraft like the E-3 AWACS and RQ-4 drone.

 

Amid all these changes and potential moves, “we still have a job to do in bringing space capabilities, and so we are still working to educate, train, and exercise with partners and allies, to include U.S. Space Command in that,” Middleton said.

The intragovernmental coordination with Space Command is significant, given that allies like Germany and France have grown interested in defending their satellites, and “on-orbit defense” is a SPACECOM mission, Middleton said.

 

“I am more focused on the theater, down to the tactical level, which is more electronic warfare-type stuff,” Middleton said.

“But we work together with Space Command to make sure we bring the totality of capability that space has to offer.”

That cooperation is poised to deepen.

 

“We’re working towards, us and Space Command, an ops center that covers both of our needs,” Middleton said.

“Not sure how that’s going to look. It may be one for Space Command, one for us. That may be combined, where we bring in allies.”

While those plans move forward, Middleton said his team remains ready to coordinate with NATO too.

“Whenever NATO votes and they decide how this is going to look, the important part of this is that what we’re doing needs to be able to plug into whatever NATO as an alliance wants this to look like. But we’ll be prepared, regardless of what that decision is.”

 

The end goal is what Space Force officials have described as an “allied by design” space infrastructure, where countries contribute different capabilities based on their own needs and resources and seek to minimize duplication.

And while the U.S. remains the dominant space player within the NATO alliance, Middleton said allies can contribute too. “I am not familiar with a situation where we’re giving and they’re not providing.

Every country is important, and everybody brings something to the table that’s beneficial, and we leverage all of that for a common operating picture,” he said.

A new round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks kicked off in Istanbul, Türkiye on Wednesday. The delegations are being hosted at the Ciragan Palace on the European shore of the Bosporus.

The talks follow two rounds of direct negotiations held in Istanbul earlier this year. The negotiations have focused primarily on various humanitarian issues, including the exchange of the remains of fallen soldiers and prisoner swaps.

The two sides have also exchanged draft memorandums outlining their vision of a peace settlement.

“It’s hardly possible to talk about this now. We need to see how it goes,” Peskov told reporters. “No one expects an easy path. Naturally, this will be a very difficult conversation. The draft proposals are diametrically opposed.”

‘Ukrainian agent’ caught in Russia was recovering explosive device – FSB

A Ukrainian agent has been detained in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region while attempting to retrieve an improvised explosive device from a concealed cache, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Wednesday.

The Russian citizen, allegedly recruited by Ukraine’s secret service while on a visit to the country last year, was arrested in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, approximately 400 kilometers east of Moscow.

 

In a video released by the FSB, the man claimed Ukrainian agents had coerced him by threatening his family members living in Ukraine.

He told investigators he had been apprehended during his fourth trip to a rural village roughly 30 kilometers west of Nizhny Novgorod, where he was instructed to retrieve equipment.

 

The FSB also published footage showing materials seized from the suspect, including four kits apparently intended for assembling small quadcopter drones.

The incident follows other recent arrests linked to Ukrainian intelligence activity inside Russia.

On Monday, the FSB said it had apprehended a Moldovan citizen accused of conducting surveillance on a defense facility in the Ryazan Region on behalf of Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, the HUR.

 

Last week, the FSB released a video of a shootout involving a suspected Ukrainian sympathizer.

According to authorities, the suspect lobbed a grenade at security officers during an attempted arrest. The FSB frequently reports arrests of individuals working as part of Ukrainian sabotage networks.

Ukraine loses French-supplied fighter jet

The Ukrainian air force has reported the first loss of a French-supplied Mirage 2000 fighter jet in what officials described as an equipment failure on Tuesday evening.

France pledged six of its 26 Mirage 2000 jets to Kiev as part of a multibillion-euro military aid program supporting Ukraine in its armed conflict with Russia. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced the delivery of the first three jets in early February.

 

Ukrainian media reported the crash occurred in the Volyn Region in western Ukraine, far from the front line. Video circulating online appeared to show the pilot descending by parachute.

The Ukrainian military commended the pilot of the downed aircraft, saying he acted “professionally” and safely ejected.

 

Air Force public communications chief Yury Ignat said the unidentified pilot “did everything to divert the aircraft to a safe place far from any settlement.”

On July 14, 2023, a much‑publicized drone light show over Victoria Harbour in Melbourne’s Docklands district never made it to the crowd‑pleasing finale.

Instead, 427 of the 500 drones crashed into the water after a cascade of control errors and mid‑air collisions sent the swarm spiraling out of control.

 

A new Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) investigation, released earlier this month, dissects the disaster in a way that should make every US drone‑show operator — and any drone pilot who flies near people — sit up and take notes.

Here are the key takeaways…

 

What went wrong

Wind invisible to the pilot:

Ground‑level gusts were flirting with the Damoda Newton V2.2 drones’ 22‑mph limit before launch, yet the remote pilot‑in‑command (RPIC) did not use a “weather‑drone” test flight or consult high‑altitude readings, both steps written into the company’s wind‑management plan. 

Once airborne, the GCS (ground‑control‑station) software actually displayed real‑time wind speed, but neither the RPIC nor the co‑pilot knew the readout existed.

As the swarm climbed toward the show area, winds more than double the drones’ published capability pummeled the formation.

 

No automated alert: Version 3 of the GCS lacked an audible or visual alarm for wind exceedances. Without the pilot’s manual scan of an obscure numeric field, there was no cue that conditions had turned unsafe.

High workload, higher pressure: The RPIC was juggling show‑position changes, client communications, and an inexperienced co‑pilot. The ATSB concludes the pilot perceived “higher‑than‑normal pressure” to get the show airborne, a classic recipe for “get‑there‑itis.”

Snowballing errors: As drones drifted off course, the RPIC tried to loiter and manually “return‑to‑launch” the worst offenders. At that moment, nearly 400 drones lost the data link and executed a failsafe descent — straight into the harbor.

 

ATSB’s contributing factors

1 Launched on the edge: The pilot knowingly took off with winds near the limit and no proof of conditions at show altitude.

2 Skipped the wind‑check tool: The weather‑drone option, added a month earlier, was ignored because checklists never mentioned it.

3 Storm stronger aloft: Winds aloft quickly overwhelmed the drones’ motors, causing formation break‑ups, geofence breaches, and collisions.

4 Software knowledge gap: Pilots didn’t realize a wind‑speed field was staring at them on‑screen.

5 Pilot overload: Unfamiliar software tweaks, an under‑trained co‑pilot, and live‑event stress eroded decision‑making.

 

Safety issues the report flags

Checklist blind‑spots: Neither the launch checklist nor the pre‑flight “show day” list reminded crews to run a weather‑drone probe.

Training on software updates: The operator relied on “learn on the fly” familiarization; formal instruction on GCS version 3 never happened.

Operator actions:

After the debacle, the show company now requires two CASA‑approved pilots per event, performs single‑drone wind‑test flights before mass launch, inserts multiple go/no‑go gates, and enforces a sterile‑cockpit rule to keep chatty VIPs away from the flight desk during crucial phases.

Manufacturer response: Damoda is evaluating a GCS update that will actively flag wind exceedances so the pilot doesn’t have to hunt for numbers. The ATSB issued a formal safety recommendation urging the alert be added.

As reports and criticism mount over the levels of hunger being experienced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, IDF Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee on Wednesday published footage and images of what he said are Hamas terrorists in Gaza tunnels enjoying fresh produce and a meal, while those above ground experience hunger and food scarcity.

In the video, terrorists in a tunnel are seen holding up to the camera fresh mangoes, grapes, and bananas, appearing to celebrate.

 

Another image shows terrorists sitting down for a meal, and another shows two holding up a fruit platter. It is unclear exactly when the footage and photos were taken.

“While Hamas’s leaders accuse Israel of the lie of starvation, the clips show the organization’s members boasting about their meals inside the tunnels,” Adraee said in the post, adding, “It should be noted that the food items seen in these clips were not included in the humanitarian aid convoys to the Gaza Strip.”

 

“Once again, the blatant disregard of Hamas saboteurs for the suffering of the population is evident.

This organization, which promotes lies to the world about alleged starvation, mocks the destruction it has inflicted on the sector’s residents,” he continued.

“This is the truth. These saboteurs are not heroes, but thieves who care about themselves at your expense and hide in the tunnels out of fear of the consequences of their actions,” he said, addressing the people of Gaza.

 

In recent days, reports have mounted over the increasingly dire levels of food insecurity and malnutrition in the Strip, which has reportedly caused dozens of deaths.

Hamas’s health ministry on Tuesday said that hospitals in Gaza had recorded 15 deaths, including four children, “due to famine and malnutrition” in the previous 24 hours, adding that it brought the total number of cases since the beginning of the war to 101, “including 80 children.” The figures cannot be independently verified.

 

“Infants under one year of age suffer from a lack of milk, which leads to a significant decrease in their weight and a decrease in their immunity that makes them vulnerable to diseases,” said Mohammed Abu Salmiya, the director of Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital.

AFP and several other news outlets published graphic pictures of Palestinian youth Abdul Jawad al-Ghalban, 14, who AFP said died of starvation, at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

 

In addition, the head of the UN Palestinian refugee agency said that its staff, as well as doctors and humanitarian workers, were fainting on duty in Gaza due to hunger and exhaustion.

Israel quickly dismissed the claims of famine, saying that some 950 trucks’ worth of supplies are waiting to be picked up by the UN from the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom and Zikim crossings.

 

A senior Israeli security official said Tuesday that the military had not identified famine, while stressing that actions need to be taken to “stabilize the humanitarian situation."

Regarding the famine claims, the official said that Hamas was taking advantage of the humanitarian situation in Gaza and carrying out a propaganda campaign as part of a pressure tactic amid the ongoing hostage negotiations.

“This is a cynical and timed move aimed at creating international pressure on Israel,” the official said.

 

The war in Gaza began with the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, invasion and massacres, during which terrorists killed some 1,200 people and kidnapped 251 hostages back to Gaza.

In the ensuing war, some 58,000 people in Gaza have been killed, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry. Hamas casualty figures cannot be verified and do not differentiate between combatants and civilians.

US congresswoman labels Zelensky ‘dictator’

Marjorie Taylor Greene has urged Washington to stop backing the Ukrainian leader, accusing him of refusing peace and clinging to power

 

US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has labeled Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky “a dictator” and called for his removal, citing mass anti-corruption protests across Ukraine and accusing him of blocking peace efforts.

Her comments came after Zelensky signed a controversial bill into law that places the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) under the authority of the prosecutor general.

 

Critics argue that the legislation effectively strips the bodies of their independence. The law has sparked protests across Ukraine, with around 2,000 people rallying in Kiev and additional demonstrations reported in Lviv, Odessa, and Poltava.

 

“Good for the Ukrainian people! Throw him out of office!” Greene wrote Wednesday on X, sharing footage from the protests. “And America must STOP funding and sending weapons!!!”

 

Greene, a longtime critic of US aid to Kiev, made similar comments last week while introducing an amendment to block further assistance. “Zelensky is a dictator, who, by the way, stopped elections in his country because of this war,” she told the House.

 

“He’s jailed journalists, he’s canceled his election, controlled state media, and persecuted Christians. The American people should not be forced to continue to pay for another foreign war.”

 

Her statements come amid mounting speculation over Zelensky’s political future. Journalist Seymour Hersh has reported that US officials are considering replacing him, possibly with former top general Valery Zaluzhny.

 

Senator Tommy Tuberville also called Zelensky a “dictator” last month, accusing him of trying to drag NATO into the conflict with Russia. Tuberville claimed that Zelensky refuses to hold elections because “he knew if he had an election, he’d get voted out.”

 

Zelensky’s five-year presidential term expired in 2024, but he has refused to hold a new election, citing martial law, which has been extended every 90 days since 2022.

 

US President Donald Trump has also questioned Zelensky’s legitimacy, calling him “a dictator without elections” in February.

 

Russian officials have repeatedly brought up the issue of Zelensky’s legitimacy, arguing that any agreements signed by him or his administration could be legally challenged by future leaders of Ukraine.

IDF: Artillery misfire led to mistaken hit of Gaza church, no punishments for soldiers involved

The Holy Family Church in Gaza City was hit by a misfired artillery shell last Thursday, according to an initial probe, the IDF reported Wednesday.

Three people were killed and several others were wounded in the incident.

Photos showed the church’s roof was hit close to the main cross, scorching the stone facade and shattering windows.

 

The incident led the Catholic Church and many of Israel’s Western allies to condemn the IDF for being negligent in Gaza.

The awry strike was caused by a malfunction in the munition and artillery mechanisms and not by human error, the IDF said.

 

The IDF statement did not say any of the soldiers would be punished, as has been the case in other instances when aid workers were mistakenly killed.

The IDF did not elaborate about what had led to the malfunction or whether similar mistakes have occurred in the past without being reported.

 

Lessons had been learned to adjust artillery open-fire rules when attacks are taking place within a certain proximity to sensitive sites, the IDF said.

The significance of the IDF’s statement remained unclear, however, given that for the past 21 months, Israel has had to act in Gaza in close proximity to sensitive sites.

 

IDF sources say military firing procedures have become more aggressive in recent months

In recent months, since Maj.-Gen. Yaniv Asor assumed command of Southern Command, open-fire procedures have been more aggressive and shown less restraint than during the previous 18 months of the war, some IDF sources have said.

Asor denies the charges and says he fully probes all relevant incidents.

 

The IDF said it had allowed special visits to examine the church area to show transparency and facilitate medical care for the victims.

The IDF apologized for the mishap. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously apologized to the Catholic Church.

The move followed security raids on NABU offices and the arrest of a senior official accused of spying for Russia. The legislation sparked concern in the EUand drew sharp criticism from opposition politicians.

 

Demonstrators gathered in central Kiev, chanting “Zelya is the devil,” using a mocking diminutive of Zelensky’s surname.Others shouted “Shame” and “Treason,” holding signs demanding the preservation of the anti-corruption system’s independence. The chants reportedly intensified after news broke that Zelensky had ignored calls to veto the bill.

 

Similar demonstrations took place across Ukraine, including in Odessa and Dnepr – the country’s third- and fourth-largest cities. Rallies were also held in Lviv, near the Polish border, and in Sumy, an eastern city close to the front line with Russia.

 

Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, a frequent critic of Zelensky, joined the protest in the capital. “It’s important for me to be here. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) carried out strikes on over 120 military objectives across the Gaza Strip within the last 24 hours, according to a statement released by the army's press service on July 23.

“Over the past 24 hours, IDF forces have struck more than 120 targets in the Gaza Strip, including radical cells, military installations, weapons depots, underground infrastructure, and other terrorist infrastructure,” the statement noted.

 

The IDF also reported the elimination of a radical group that had been attempting to place an explosive device in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The conflict escalated on October 7, 2023, when Israel was hit by an unprecedented barrage of rockets launched from the Gaza Strip.

 

Following the rocket assault, Hamas militants crossed into Israeli border areas, attacking both military and civilian targets and seizing more than 200 hostages.

China-Linked Hackers Breach US Nuclear Weapons Agency In Sophisticated Operation

 

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has been hit by a sophisticated cyberattack that exploited a previously unknown vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint, and is being widely described by one of the most serious breaches of US defense infrastructure this year. Fingers in the West are pointing to Beijing.

 

Hackers believed linked to the Chinese government used a zero-day exploit targeting on-premises versions of SharePoint to infiltrate over 50 organizations, including the agency responsible for the Navy’s nuclear submarine reactors. China is vehemently denying the charge.

 

The NNSA oversees both the production of nuclear reactors for submarines and the maintenance of the US nuclear arsenal. Cybersecurity experts are currently describing what's known as an advanced remote code execution (RCE) attack.

 

The vulnerability reportedly affected SharePoint Server 2019 and the Subscription Edition, which allowed attackers to bypass security protocols and execute arbitrary commands on targeted systems, as described in Bloomberg.

 

The US Department of Energy is well-known to use Microsoft 365 cloud systems for a lot of its SharePoint work. "The department was minimally impacted due to its widespread use of the Microsoft M365 cloud and very capable cybersecurity systems," a Department of Energy spokesperson conveyed in a statement to Bloomberg. "A very small number of systems were impacted. All impacted systems are being restored."

 

It's believed the hackers were able to gain unauthorized access, steal data, collect login credentials, and potentially move deeper into connected networks; however, the Department of Energy has claimed no classified or sensitive nuclear data was compromised in the breach.

Officials credited the agency’s early transition to Microsoft 365 cloud services for minimizing the impact of the breach, as the vulnerability specifically affected only on-premises SharePoint systems and did not impact the cloud-based platform.

 

“The department experienced minimal impact thanks to its broad adoption of Microsoft M365 and robust cybersecurity infrastructure,” a DOE spokesperson said.

French President Emmanuel Macron, and his wife Brigitte Macron, have filed a defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens over the far-right influencer’s “relentless and unjustified smear campaign” falsely accusing Brigitte of being born a man.

 

The 219-page defamation complaint, filed in Delaware state court Wednesday, accuses Owens of proliferating “demonstrably false” claims across her platforms, including in an eight-part podcast and on social media, designed to feed a “frenzied fan base” in “pursuit of fame”.

 

“These lies have caused tremendous damage to the Macrons,” according to the Macrons lawsuit, which names Owens as well her business entities, which are incorporated in Delaware.

 

The false claims have subjected the Macrons to a “campaign of global humiliation, turning their lives into fodder for profit-driven lies,” the complaint says.

 

“Owens has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade,” the complaint alleges. “The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale. US Government Worker Blocked From Leaving China, State Department Confirms

 

China is preventing a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office employee from leaving the country, the U.S. State Department confirmed on July 21.

 

“We are tracking this case very closely and are engaged with Chinese officials to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” the State Department told The Epoch Times in a statement. “The Department of State has no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens.”

 

The employee, traveling “in a personal capacity,” was “made subject to an exit ban,” the agency said.

 

The statement confirmed a report by The Washington Post on July 20 that an American citizen working for the U.S. Commerce Department had traveled to China to visit family several months ago, citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation. The individual was barred from leaving China because he had failed to disclose his employment with the U.S. government on his visa application, the report said.

 

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is a federal agency under the Commerce Department.

 

The State Department currently maintains a “Level 2” travel advisory for China, urging travelers to “exercise increased caution” due to “arbitrary enforcement of local laws, including in relation to exit bans.”

 

The advisory explains that Chinese authorities may impose exit bans to compel the individual to cooperate with investigations, pressure family members of the targeted individual to return to China from abroad, influence the outcome of civil disputes in favor of Chinese citizens, and “gain bargaining leverage over foreign governments.”

 

Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, responded to the incident by reminding Americans that communist China doesn’t observe the rule of law.

 

“American companies and citizens traveling to China need to be aware of how the Chinese government uses arbitrary exit bans as a form of hostage diplomacy,” Risch wrote on X on July 21.

 

“For those seeking to do business with China, this is a reminder that rule of law does not exist there—and your safety is at risk.”

Poland advises citizens to leave Russia

 

Moscow has designated Poland a “hostile” state in response to economic sanctions and support for Ukraine

 

Poland’s Foreign Ministry has issued an advisory strongly recommending that all Polish nationals residing in Russia leave the country if possible. The warning comes as ties between Moscow and Warsaw have sunk to historic lows amid the Ukraine conflict and tit-for-tat diplomatic restrictions.

 

According to the statement published on the government website, which drew attention from the Russian and Polish media this week, the ministry cautions against all travel to Russia, citing the Ukraine conflict and Russia’s official designation of Poland as a “hostile state.”

 

Russia officially included Poland – which has joined Western sanctions and has been one of Ukraine’s staunchest supporters – on its list of “unfriendly states” in 2022. The designation allows the Russian authorities to impose restrictions on diplomatic missions and often entails limitations on trade and monetary transactions.

 

Consequently, “Polish citizens residing in Russia [are recommended to] leave its territory by available commercial and private means, unless their personal, family, or professional circumstances require them to remain in the country,” the ministry said.

 

Polish officials also warned of potential problems with direct consular assistance to Polish citizens due to the closing of diplomatic missions, which may require visitors “to travel to very distant consular offices.”

 

The advisory highlights several obstacles facing Polish nationals in Russia, including the suspension of direct flights between the two countries, restricted travel options, and difficulties accessing funds via Polish bank cards.

 

It also claims that Polish nationals may face “arbitrary detention” while in Russia. Over the past several years, there have been no high-profile cases of a Polish national being detained in the country.

 

Diplomatic tensions between the two countries have risen since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022. In May, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced the closure of the Russian consulate in Krakow, accusing Moscow of involvement in a 2024 fire at a shopping mall in Warsaw – an accusation Russia has denied.

 

In response, Russia earlier this month ordered the closure of Poland’s consulate in Kaliningrad, effective from the end of August, citing “hostile actions” by Warsaw.

An overnight Russian drone attack on Kryvyi Rih has damaged a sports complex, a church, eight private homes, and up to 15 apartment buildings.

Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

According to him, two emergency response centers will be operating in the city throughout the day.

 

"There are eight damaged private homes and around 15 apartment buildings.

Residents are being provided with repair materials — OSB boards, plastic sheeting, and wooden planks. Applications for financial assistance from the city are being accepted," the post reads.

In addition to residential buildings, the attack damaged infrastructure, including a sports complex, an administrative building, and a church. Municipal services are working at the scene.

Ukrainian drones reportedly struck the Russian city of Novocherkassk in Rostov Oblast on July 22, while a Ukrainian official said that a railway hub used by the Russian military was targeted.

The alleged attack comes amid Kyiv's ongoing long-range drone campaign, aimed at crippling Russia's ability to sustain its all-out war by targeting key industrial and military facilities in the rear.

 

Rostov Oblast Governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed Ukrainian drone attacks against Novocherkassk and other areas in the region.

Drone wreckage started fires across the city, and three people were injured, one of them seriously, the governor claimed.

 

Drones may have targeted the local railway station and the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant, Russian Telegram channels Baza and Astra reported, citing local residents.

"In Novocherkassk in Rostov Oblast, the railway infrastructure used by the military-industrial complex and the Russian military came under attack," said Andrii Kovalenko, an official at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council.

 

"This logistical hub connects strategic directions: Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh, Volgograd, and Kamensk-Shakhtinsky.

It is through this hub that the transfer of equipment, ammunition, fuel resources, and personnel to the Ukrainian border is carried out."

 

According to the official, the city also houses the facilities of Russia's 1061st Material and Technical Support Center of the Southern Military District, which are responsible for arms and fuel supplies.

Novocherkassk, a southwestern Russian city of 160,000 residents, lies around 200 kilometers (120 miles) from the front line in Ukraine.

"Hubs like Novocherkassk are the arteries that feed the Russian war machine. Without them, supplies to the front stop," Kovalenko said.

 

Thirty-three Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were downed over Russia overnight, including 11 over Rostov Oblast, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed.

Russian officials have not confirmed any damage to military or strategic facilities in Novocherkassk. The Ukrainian military has not commented on the claims, which could not be independently verified.

Former Reagan Ed Sec Registers As Foreign Agent To Help Islamic Nation

 

A former U.S. education secretary has registered as a foreign agent to help support Qatar’s education efforts.

 

William Bennett, who served under the Reagan administration from 1985-1988, has registered with the Department of Justice (DOJ) as the senior education advisor to the Embassy of Qatar. Bennett is tasked with defending American university branch campuses in Qatar and publicizing “the fact that Qatari higher education efforts do not support radical Islamicist movements or positions.”

 

“In light of Dr. Bennett’s extensive professional history dealing with education, the purpose of this engagement is to provide him with information relating to American universities offering curriculum in Qatar, to allow him to review and understand funding decisions made by the Qatari government relating to these schools, to promote Western understanding of the nature of these expenditures and the nature of the curriculum, and, most broadly, to promote economic and cultural understanding between Qatar and the United States,” the registration paperwork reads.

 

Bennett started the new position around June 30 and will be compensated $30,000 a month by the Qatari government for seven months. His job duties will include “communications to U.S. political office holders” as well as writing op-eds, conducting radio and TV interviews and working with Congress.

 

Bennett did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.

 

Many prominent universities, such as Georgetown and Northwestern, have had branch campuses in Qatar for years, enrolling hundreds of students. The schools host undergraduate programs exploring foreign service and communications.

 

American partnerships with Qatar have led to national security concerns, which eventually prompted the closure of Texas A&M University’s Qatari campus due to “heightened instability in the Middle East” despite the school denying any security risk. Qatar’s U.S. embassy has denied having any influence in American politics and education.

 

Qatar has also long funded middle eastern studies programs at many major U.S. schools and universities, prompting suspicions from Congress about its influence at the institutions especially as anti-Israel protests flooded the country. Qatar reportedly has direct ties to Hamas, apparently housing its leaders, The Times of Israel reported, citing Qatari government official Majed al-Ansari, and sending millions of dollars to Gaza amid its war on Israel, according to CNN.

 

President Donald Trump signed an executive order in April requiring American universities to be more transparent about any foreign donations they accept in an effort to limit foreign influence in education. Many schools are now under investigation for allegedly failing to properly disclose their foreign donations.

 

The Trump administration’s probing has prompted several American universities to close their satellite campuses in foreign nations such as China.

First protective anti-drone tunnel built on key frontline highway in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region

In the Zaporizhzhia region, special anti-drone tunnels are being constructed to protect against Russian UAVs.

The first tunnel was built along one of the most dangerous logistical routes – the Orikhiv highway, according to a briefing by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.

 

"We’ve built the first anti-drone road along the Orikhiv highway — it stretches 6.5 kilometers. This is just the beginning. We have an ambitious plan: over 200 kilometers of protected routes across the region.

In the coming days, I plan to meet with the Minister of Defense to coordinate efforts and speed up the implementation of this project," he said.

 

It is noted that the tunnels are being constructed using funds from the Joint Defense Fund, which purchases everything needed for the work — metal structures, nets, consumables, and more.

Military personnel, including fighters from one of Zaporizhzhia’s brigades, were involved in the construction.

 

Purpose of anti-drone tunnels

An anti-drone tunnel consists of nets mounted on metal structures designed to protect a route from drone attacks.

A typical or fiber-optic FPV drone used by the enemy may become entangled in the netting or detonate upon impact with the barrier.

 

For the Armed Forces, such tunnels provide a safer means of transporting personnel, equipment, and evacuating the wounded.

For civilians, an anti-drone tunnel offers a relatively safer way to travel within frontline areas, especially since Russian forces are known to target civilian vehicles as frequently as military ones.

 

These types of anti-drone defenses are being actively built not only in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In June, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, announced that roads in the Sumy region and in border communities would be covered with anti-drone nets to complicate enemy aerial reconnaissance and protect logistics.

Ukraine loses French-supplied fighter jet

The crash comes as Kiev seeks tens of billions of dollars in foreign aid to sustain its campaign against Russia

 

The Ukrainian air force has reported the first loss of a French-supplied Mirage 2000 fighter jet in what officials described as an equipment failure on Tuesday evening.

 

France pledged six of its 26 Mirage 2000 jets to Kiev as part of a multibillion-euro military aid program supporting Ukraine in its armed conflict with Russia. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced the delivery of the first three jets in early February.

 

Ukrainian media reported the crash occurred in the Volyn Region in western Ukraine, far from the front line. Video circulating online appeared to show the pilot descending by parachute.

 

The Ukrainian military commended the pilot of the downed aircraft, saying he acted “professionally” and safely ejected. Air Force public communications chief Yury Ignat said the unidentified pilot “did everything to divert the aircraft to a safe place far from any settlement.”

 

“Such incidents are common all over the world,” Ignat added. “The important thing is the pilot is alive and well.”

 

Ukraine has previously confirmed the loss of multiple US-made F-16 fighter jets in combat. BANGKOK – A Myanmar junta drone targeting anti-coup fighters crashed over the border in Thailand, the kingdom’s military said, prompting an official rebuke over hazardous spillover from the civil war.

Western Thailand regularly suffers ramifications from the conflict that has raged in Myanmar since the military toppled the country’s elected civilian government in 2021.

 

Deserting junta troops, fleeing civilian refugees and desperate economic migrants often make unsanctioned crossings of the countries’ 2,400 kilometer frontier.

Thailand’s military said it found the “kamikaze drone” on Monday in a forest in Tak Province, 15 kilometres inside the Thai border.

 

“No civilians were injured or killed, and no property damage was reported,” said a Tuesday night statement.

“Initial investigations suggest the drone belonged to the Myanmar military and was intended for an attack on resistance forces, but lost control and crashed on the Thai side.”

 

The military statement said a disposal team “neutralised the explosive materials” and a “formal protest” has been lodged about the incident through a border dialogue organisation.

Myanmar’s junta and its myriad rebel opponents are both increasingly relying on drones to gain a strategic edge in the civil war, which has now ground on for more than four years.

 

Myanmar ranks third globally — behind only Ukraine and Russia — for the number of drone sorties recorded by monitor organisation Armed Conflict Location and Event Data, according to a report this month.

“The accessibility, ease of modification, and cost-effectiveness of drones enable both resistance groups and the military to achieve military objectives while minimizing combat casualties,” the report said.

EW YORK — New York City Mayor Eric Adams today announced the new Drone Operations Committee and appointed Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Kaz Daughtry as chair.

The committee will cement New York City’s position as a national leader in leveraging cutting-edge technology to keep New Yorkers safe as the city has already used drones to keep New Yorkers safe at the beach, protect against subway surfing, track criminal suspects fleeing a crime scene, and more.

 

Deputy Mayor Daughtry and committee members — comprised of leaders from across city agencies — will spearhead a citywide effort to coordinate drone operations across key agencies, including the New York City Police Department (NYPD), the Fire Department of the City of New York, New York City Emergency Management, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, the New York City Department of Buildings, the and New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

Agency heads will retain operational control over their respective drone programs.

Lawsuit Against HHS, RFK Jr. Seeks To Add COVID Vaccines To Injury Compensation Program

 

Paul Brundage says he developed a serious blood-clotting disorder after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, but can’t pursue compensation under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program because HHS failed in its legal obligation to add the shot to the list of vaccines covered under the program.

 

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services violated federal law by failing to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of vaccines covered under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), according to a lawsuit filed by a man diagnosed with a severe blood-clotting disorder he alleges was caused by the vaccine.

 

Paul Brundage filed the lawsuit in January against then-U.S. Health Secretary Xavier Beccera. However, Becerra’s successor, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., became the target of the suit when he was confirmed in February.

 

The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, also known as the “Vaccine Act,” requires HHS to add vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for routine use in children or pregnant women to the Vaccine Injury Table within two years of the CDC’s recommendation.

 

According to the complaint, the two-year period has elapsed, and Brundage “should now be eligible to bring a claim for compensation for his injury in the United States Court of Federal Claims” under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP).

 

However, Brundage is “not able to pursue compensation under the VICP” because HHS has not added the COVID-19 vaccine to the Vaccine Injury Table, the lawsuit states.

 

Under the Vaccine Act’s Citizen’s Action provision, citizens may pursue civil action against the HHS secretary “where there is alleged a failure of the Secretary to perform any act or duty” contained within the Vaccine Act.

 

The provision requires claimants to provide 60 days’ notice to the secretary, which the lawsuit states Brundage did in November 2024.

 

“The beauty of this provision is that it empowers the average citizen to ask a judge to force the HHS Secretary to take action,” said Ray Flores, senior outside counsel for Children’s Health Defense (CHD) and an expert on vaccine injury compensation cases. “It even provides for attorney fees.”

 

Flores said Brundage’s lawsuit is not the first or the only pending citizen’s action against the HHS. In May, Flores sued Kennedy for violating the 1986 Vaccine Act, which requires HHS to establish a task force dedicated to making childhood vaccines safer and to provide U.S. Congress with progress reports every two years.

 

Since Congress passed the act over 35 years ago, no health secretary — including Kennedy — has convened such a task force or reported to Congress on steps taken toward making vaccines safer. CHD is funding the lawsuit.

Third round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks: Live Updates

Direct negotiations between Moscow and Kiev are underway in Istanbul

 

A new round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks kicked off in Istanbul, Türkiye on Wednesday. The delegations are being hosted at the Ciragan Palace on the European shore of the Bosporus.

 

The talks follow two rounds of direct negotiations held in Istanbul earlier this year. The negotiations have focused primarily on various humanitarian issues, including the exchange of the remains of fallen soldiers and prisoner swaps. The two sides have also exchanged draft memorandums outlining their vision of a peace settlement.

 

The Russian delegation is headed by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who led the previous negotiations with Ukraine. LIANYUNGANG, CHINA - Zhuyu Peak is one of the most notorious mountain tops in the Yuntai range, with an estimated elevation of some 4,291 feet.

The mountain top and nearby peaks provide the type of topography conducive to lenticular cloud formation, as moist air is forced upward over the ridges.

 

While there isn't a specific known elevation needed for the formation of lenticular clouds, the features are often witnessed outside taller mountains.

The Himalayas in Asia, the Alps in Europe and the Rockies in North America are all known to produce sights of lenticular clouds.

And again, despite their appearance, meteorologists note that lenticular clouds are simply an indicator of atmospheric conditions interacting with terrain features and not something more menacing.

 

"When sufficient moisture is present above mountain-top level, ACSL clouds develop within the crest of these mountain waves where the air is rising. ACSL clouds are continually developing and dissipating in the vicinity of the wave's crest and immediately downwind of the crest, respectively.

That is why they appear to remain stationary (hence the name) even though winds are swiftly (sometimes very swiftly) moving through the entire cloud," the NWS previously stated.

 

Interestingly enough, they are most often spotted during the winter and spring seasons, when upper-level winds are typically the strongest - neither of which are unfolding in China right now.

Permit revoked for MAGA musician's planned Charlottetown performance

The City of Charlottetown has revoked the permit for an upcoming concert by controversial U.S. Christian musician Sean Feucht that was set to take place on land owned by the city.

 

"After consultation with Charlottetown Police Services, the City of Charlottetown has notified the organizer… that their permit has been revoked due to evolving public safety and security concerns," the city said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

 

"Public safety remains the city's top priority."

 

Feucht, a rising star in the MAGA movement, is a missionary and author who has spoken out against the 2SLGBTQ+ community, abortion rights and critical race theory on his website. He had been scheduled to perform Thursday at Confederation Landing on the Charlottetown waterfront — days before the city marks Pride Fest 2025.

 

Tuesday, the city distanced itself from the scheduled performance, saying it was not a "city-sponsored event" and that it was limited in restricting access to public spaces "from a legal standpoint."

 

In that release, the city said it wanted to be clear in its full support of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

 

Event doesn't reflect 'values of inclusivity,' says MP

 

Prior to the city revoking the permit, Charlottetown MP Sean Casey said in a post on social media that many people expressed concerns to him about the concert.

 

"While I fully respect the right to freedom of expression, I do not believe this event reflects the values of inclusivity and respect that define the City of Charlottetown or the Government of Canada," Casey wrote in a Facebook post.

 

"I've been in direct contact with the Mayor and the CAO to share these concerns."

 

Feucht was also scheduled to perform at the York Redoubt National Historic Site in Halifax on Wednesday, but Parks Canada revoked that permit after outcry from some residents.

 

That concert will now take place at 338 Crombe Rd. in Shubenacadie, N.S., a rural area about 60 kilometres north of Halifax. That address is associated with a religious group called Lighthouse Ministries.

Trump questions Kiev’s use of US aid

The president has suggested that billions in cash his predecessor Joe Biden “gave away” may have been embezzled

 

US President Donald Trump has claimed that billions of dollars in American aid given to Ukraine under his predecessor Joe Bidenmay have been misused.

The US became Kiev’s top foreign backer under the Biden administration, allocating over $170 billion in military and financial aid, according to official data.

Trump, however, has long argued the total is far higher, estimating $350 billion in “equipment and cash” and criticizing Biden for “giving away” money without returns. He reiterated the point at a Republican meeting at the White House on Tuesday, questioning whether Kiev had actually used US aid for defense needs.

 

“Biden gave away $350 billion worth of equipment or cash. Worse than equipment – cash… They were supposed to buy their own equipment. But I have a feeling they didn’t spend every dollar on the equipment,”Trump said. “We want to find out about that [money], someday, I guess, right?”

 

Trump’s comments echo growing concerns over corruption in Ukraine.

The country has long struggled with graft, and its Defense Ministry has faced multiple scandals since the conflict with Russia escalated in 2022. Both the US and EU have pressed for audits and stronger anti-corruption measures. In April, US National Security AdviserMichael Waltz urged tighter oversight of aid, calling Ukraine “one of the most corrupt nations in the world.”

 

Despite calls for transparency, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky signed a law this week reducing the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies, claiming it would streamline investigations. The legislation has triggered international scrutiny and protests across the country, with critics saying the move could be aimed at shielding Zelensky’s inner circle and concealing the embezzlement of military funds.

 

Moscow has long argued that Western aid prolongs the fighting without changing the outcome of the conflict. Russian officials have also long accused Kiev of misusing foreign funds. UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia told RT last month that it’s “an open secret” Ukraine “stole billions of dollars out of the aid” and that Zelensky clings to power to avoid consequences.

FBI arrests OmegaPro founders over $650M Ponzi scheme after global crypto scam promised 300% returns and projected logo on Burj Khalifa

 

The FBI just closed the door on one of the largest crypto Ponzi schemes in recent history. On July 8, federal agents arrested Michael Shannon Sims and Juan Carlos Reynoso for orchestrating a $650 million fraud through a fake investment platform called OmegaPro. The indictment was unsealed in the District of Puerto Rico. Sims was picked up in Georgia. Reynoso was already in custody after a separate contempt case tied to the same operation.

 

OmegaPro launched in 2019 and marketed itself as a high-yield forex and crypto investment firm. The pitch was simple: invest in “elite trader” packages and receive 300% returns in 16 months. The catch? No trading ever occurred. The DOJ confirmed that investor funds were rerouted through crypto wallets controlled by OmegaPro insiders, then laundered and siphoned off to fund luxury lifestyles.

 

The marketing was aggressive. Sims and Reynoso hosted global events, including a stunt where they projected the OmegaPro logo onto the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Social media was flooded with images of designer watches, exotic cars, and beachfront villas. The illusion worked. Thousands of investors across Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. bought in. Victims were told their money was safe. It wasn’t.

 

In January 2023, OmegaPro claimed it had been hacked. Investors were told their accounts were being transferred to a new platform called Broker Group. That platform never worked. Withdrawals were blocked. Wallets were drained. The DOJ says the “hack” was a cover for the final laundering phase.

 

Reynoso’s travel history raised red flags. Between 2020 and mid-2025, he logged 68 trips to 21 countries. His Binance account received over $21.4 million in crypto deposits. He allegedly paid traffickers to smuggle family members into Florida by boat. One of them was caught with a photo of Reynoso and identified him as the organizer. That detail came from court filings tied to his pretrial detention hearing.

 

Victims in Puerto Rico say they were promised guaranteed returns and told the company was licensed. Florida investors say they were recruited through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Colombian regulators flagged OmegaPro in 2022, but the warnings didn’t reach U.S. investors. ICE and IRS investigators traced the funds through wallet addresses and offshore brokers. The paper trail was long. The fraud was simple.

Moscow hopes ‘reasonable’ Trump will influence EU – Lavrov

The bloc is busy arming Ukraine at the expense of European taxpayers, the Russian foreign minister said

 

Moscow hopes the “reasonable” position on the Ukrainian conflict displayed by US President Donald Trump will have an impact on the stance of the EU, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

 

Speaking during a press conference in Moscow following talks with his Mozambican counterpart, Maria Manuela Lucas, on Tuesday, Russia’s top diplomat expressed hopes the EU will, at some point, show a willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue.

 

“I really hope that the reasonable approach that the Trump administration showed in this situation after it replaced the Biden administration, which spoke in unison with the unhinged Europeans, that this reasonable approach, which includes a willingness to dialogue and a willingness to listen and hear,will not go unnoticed by the Europeans, despite all the current discussions about the need to arm the Kiev regime again and again and again at the expense of… European taxpayers,” Lavrov stated.

 

While the US president had repeatedly promised to end the hostilities between Moscow and Kiev, he admitted last month, however, that the task had proven to be “more difficult than people would have any idea.” Thus far, the direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, kick-started by the US administration, have failed to yield any tangible result, focusing primarily on humanitarian issues, including prisoner swaps and the return of the bodies of fallen soldiers.

 

Trump has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin multiple times in recent months. He recently criticized the Russian leader for supposedly resisting a settlement and threatened to impose sanctions on Russia and its trade partners unless the Ukraine conflict is ended by autumn.

 

In response,the Kremlin stated it had a calm view of the criticism and expressed its intention to continue the dialogue with Washington. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov urged the US administration to put pressure on Kiev instead, suggesting that it “appears that the Ukrainian side takes all statements of support as signals to continue war, not as signals for peace.”

UFO Days gets ready for 46th celebration

ELMWOOD – UFO Days has become more than a hometown celebration with a quirky theme: It draws visitors and speakers from all over the country fascinated with aliens, the paranormal and things unseen.

The festival includes presentations and screenings by filmmakers, podcasters, UFO historians and more, along with community favorites such as kids’ activities, water fights, street dances, grand parade, craft & vendor fair, flying saucer toss, chicken poop bingo, food stands, garage sales and contests.

 

Residents were asked to decorate their homes with the most unique, out of this world, alien-themed items they could find for chances to win cold hard cash: $100 for first place, $75 for second and $50 for third.

Another creative outlet is the inaugural UFO Days Ugly Truck Contest. Participants are asked to arrive between 5:30-7 p.m. on Main Street in Elmwood with judging taking place 7-8 p.m.

Oregon passes rules restricting pumpkin patches, flower festivals and farm dinners, threatening collapse of small agritourism businesses

 

Oregon’s Department of Land Conservation and Development finalized a rule package that rural counties are calling a death sentence. The Farm and Forest Modernization Rules take effect in January 2025. The state says it is about preserving farmland. On the ground, farmers say it is a chokehold.

 

The rules hit agritourism first. Farm stands can no longer rely on cider, crafts, or food sales. Only 25% of revenue can come from non-farm products. That means no bundled hayride tickets, no outdoor dinners, no fall festivals to drive volume. One Marion County farm said 82% of their October income came from pumpkins and hot cider. That ends next year.

 

Event limits are now hard law. Counties like Clackamas and Polk will cap farm events at 250 guests. Only a few can be held each year. A Yamhill grower canceled two weddings this week. Projected losses this season: $74,000.

 

Permits are now required for nearly everything. The process is slow, expensive, and often ends in denial. Conditional use filings cost between $2,800 and $6,400 depending on zoning. Legal reviews are mandatory. A Deschutes farm paid $9,200 just to renew their existing permit. This year they are walking away.

 

Farmers are speaking out. A pumpkin grower in Benton County said, “They’re regulating us out of existence.” A flower grower in Lane County said, “We’re not converting farmland. We’re surviving.” A chef in Hood River said, “Selling experiences keeps the land working. That’s the point.”

 

DLCD says the rules are about conservation. The numbers say something else. Between 2017 and 2022, Oregon lost 1,800 small farms. Agritourism was the last line of defense. Now it is the target. The agency’s own fiscal review admits these rules will cut rural revenue. Their label: “necessary tradeoff.”

Proof of aliens possible by Christmas, say experts

An ‘interstellar visitor’ spotted drifting into our solar system weeks ago is either a massive dirty snowball or an alien probe.

At least, this is according to a leading UFOlogist and a Harvard theoretical physicist, who believe the massive object could have been sent by an otherworldly civilisation.

The object, known as 3I/ATLAS, is flying between the orbits of the asteroid belt and Jupiter and will soon loop around the Sun.

3I/ATLAS is still slightly too far away for experts to know for sure what it is, but it’s been officially classified as a comet.

 

Mark Christopher Lee, a UFOlogist and film-maker, has mixed feelings about 31/ATLAS.

He told Metro: ‘The UFOlogist film-making side of me goes: We could get evidence of actual first contact by Christmas!

‘The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is due to pass by Earth just before Xmas. Some have speculated that this may be intentional if it is proven to be some kind of alien probe or Mothership.’

However, the ‘scientist’ in Lee said that we need more data before speculating what the object could be.

 

‘These are indeed weird times in the world and throughout mankind’s history, we have always looked into the stars for meaning and guidance and in 2025, we need it more than ever,’ Lee added.

Avi Loeb, a professor of science at Harvard University, told Newsweek that 3I/ATLAS’ ‘retrograde orbital plane’ is just five degrees from that of Earth.

He said: ‘The likelihood for that coincidence out of all random orientations is 0.2%.’A retrograde orbit means a celestial body, such as a moon or a planet, zooms around its host in the opposite direction to the host’s rotation.

 

Given how bright 3I/ATLAS is, which scientists say suggests it’s a glowing comet rather than a dull asteroid, Loeb said this shows it’s around 12 miles wide.

This is ‘too large for an interstellar asteroid’, he said, adding: ‘It might have targeted the inner Solar System as expected from alien technology.’

Current estimates say that 3I/ATLAS will be closest to the Sun in late October before zooming off back into the abyss of space.

‘This could be intentional to avoid detailed observations from Earth-based telescopes,’ Loeb said.

 

Objects from outside our star system very rarely drift into our cosmic neighbourhood, with 3I/ATLAS being the third recorded drifter.

The first was the asteroid Oumuamua, which passed close to us in 2017. Harvard astronomers similarly suspected it was an alien spaceship. In 2019, the comet Borisov then paid us a fleeting visit.

31/ATLAS was first spotted by a Nasa-funded telescope in Chile on July 1, with the Minor Planet Center later receiving some 100 sightings.

 

Experts told Metro that the 7-billion-year-old ‘interstellar interloper’ likely came from the outskirts of the Milky Way.

The Hubble Space Telescope caught its first glimpse of 3I/ATLAS on Monday, showing the comet’s wispy tail, called a coma.

But the comet was unknowingly photographed by Chilean Vera Rubin Observatory in late June, according to a new paper on arXiv.

 

The analysis, which has not been peer-reviewed, also concluded that the object is a comet.

‘Comet 3I/ATLAS is estimated to have a nucleus of roughly 5.6 kilometres (3.5 miles),’ it said, referring to a comet’s solid core of ices and dust.

Trump official reveals vodka drinking at negotiations in Minsk

The unconventional approach helped secure the release of 14 Belarusian opposition figures, US deputy envoy John Coale has said

 

A lunch with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko which included vodka shots helped secure the release of 14 opposition figures following rare talks between Washington and Minsk, a senior US official has revealed.

 

In an interview with Politico published on Sunday,John Coale, a deputy to US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Keith Kellogg, offered a glimpse into high-level US-Belarus talks in Minsk last month.

 

Shortly after the meeting,Belarus released several detained opposition activists, including prominent opposition figure Sergey Tikhanovsky, who immediately left the country for Lithuania.

 

According to officials in Minsk,Lukashenko pardoned the prisoners at Trump’s requestand stressed that he acted out of “humanitarian considerations, to reunify families.”

 

They added that the talks also focused on US-Belarus relations and international issues.

 

Politico claimed the release “wouldn’t have happened without Coale’s efforts to forge a relationship with Lukashenko, including over a long lunch with vodka toasts.”Coale said, “I did two shots, didn’t throw up, but did not do a third one.”

 

While the lunch was held behind closed doors, footage from the talks released by Belarusian media showsLukashenko cordially greeting the US delegation, hugging Kellogg, and patting other American officials on the shoulder.

 

According to Politico, Trump’s special envoys areable to pursue informal diplomacy while bypassing traditional State Department channels, which provides opportunities for direct, unconventional engagement.

 

Lukashenko later said the meeting was respectful, adding that it should not be interpreted as a concession to the West. “We were not playing at a giveaway… There was a respectful conversation.”

 

The talks with key Russian ally Belarus took place as the Trump administration made efforts to restore ties with Moscow while seeking to negotiate an end to the Ukraine conflict.

Macron’s popularity hits record low

The French president and PM Francois Bayrou are the least popular executive pair in modern France, a new poll suggests

 

French President Emmanuel Macron’s approval rating has dropped below 20% for the first time since taking office, as criticism mounts over rising defense spending and cuts to social programs. Prime Minister Francois Bayrou also performed poorly in the same poll, with the two forming the most unpopular executive pair of the Fifth Republic.

 

Macron’s approval rating has fallen to 19%, with Bayrou at just 18%, making a combined approval of 37% – the lowest in modern France, according to a new IFOP survey published on Monday. Even during the Yellow Vest protests – a major anti-government movement that began in 2018 over fuel taxes and economic inequality – the French leader’s lowest rating was 23%.

 

Macron’s support has dropped sharply among his 2022 voters, with only 49% still backing him – down 12 points. His approval has also declined among business leaders and executives, falling by 18 and 8 points, respectively.

 

Bayrou, who was appointed after Michel Barnier’s government collapsed in late 2024 following months of coalition infighting and public backlash over mishandled pension reforms, is now advancing a controversial austerity plan. Last week, he introduced new tax measures on high-income earners to help close a €43.8 billion ($48 billion) budget gap.

 

The austerity package includesa freeze on pensions and social benefits, healthcare spending caps, and the scrapping of two national holidays to increase productivity and reduce government spending. JPMorgan Chase is getting ready to lend against crypto. That is confirmed. The bank is now developing loan products backed by client-held Bitcoin and Ethereum. The Financial Times reported the move on July 22. A rollout could start next year. The irony is hard to ignore. Jamie Dimon once called Bitcoin “a fraud.” Now his bank is building products around it.

 

The setup is direct. Clients pledge crypto. JPMorgan lends fiat. The pledged assets sit with a third-party custodian. Coinbase is expected to fill that role. JPMorgan will not custody the assets itself. They are outsourcing it. That is the workaround. The bank avoids holding crypto while still monetizing the exposure.

 

This new step builds on the bank’s earlier attempt to offer loans backed by crypto ETFs. This goes deeper. It is not about ETF shares. This is raw Bitcoin. Ethereum. Digital wallets. JPMorgan is working on internal models to handle price swings and borrower default scenarios. If a client fails to repay, the bank needs a clean mechanism to seize and liquidate the crypto. That part is still being finalized.

 

Dimon’s pivot is tactical. The GENIUS Act, signed by President Trump last week, created a federal framework for stablecoins. It mandates dollar reserves, yearly audits, and U.S. compliance for overseas issuers. That gave JPMorgan what it needed. The bank now plans to roll out a limited-use stablecoin for institutional clients. That is in motion.

 

Local desks are watching closely. Chicago traders say this resembles synthetic CDO structures. Miami analysts flagged Dimon’s reversal as more than symbolic. Moscow’s top negotiator comments on latest talks with Ukraine

All humanitarian agreements have been fulfilled, Vladimir Medinsky has said

 

Russia and Ukraine have fulfilled all the humanitarian agreements reached during the second round of talks in Istanbul last month, Moscow’s chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky announced on Wednesday.

 

Medinsky made the remarks to the press following the conclusion of the third round of direct peace negotiations with Ukraine in Türkiye.

 

Russia has offered to hand over 3,000 more bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers, Medinsky stated.

 

The remains will be returned via the Red Cross once Kiev confirms it is ready to receive them, he added.

 

Medinsky also said Moscow had proposed a new prisoner swap involving at least 1,200 POWs from each side.

In addition, Russia suggested holding ceasefires lasting 24 or 48 hours to allow for the evacuation of wounded troops and the recovery of bodies from the battlefield.

 

According to Medinsky,Moscow has invited Ukraine to set up three online working groups – covering political, humanitarian, and military matters– to continue discussions. Kiev agreed to consider Russia’s proposal about the working groups, he added.
