10 Agents Storm Plane to Arrest Delta Co-Pilot Moments After Landing at San Francisco Airport

dramatic video footage surfacing online appears to show approximately 10 federal law enforcement officers, reportedly including Homeland Security Investigations agents and air marshals, storming the cockpit of Delta Air Lines Flight 2809 moments after the Boeing 757–300 landed at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The flight had arrived from Minneapolis, completing a delayed second landing approach due to heavy fog, touching down around 9:35 p.m. local time on Saturday evening.

The footage — shared on the aviation blog View from the Wing — shows agents entering the cockpit, handcuffing a co‑pilot, then escorting him down the aisle and removing him from the aircraft.

Witnesses say at least TEN DHS agents bordered the plane as soon as it parked at the gate and took the pilot into custody.

While no confirmation has come from the Department of Homeland Security or Delta Air Lines, Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin—citing a senior federal source—reported the arrest was connected to alleged possession or distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Seated in first class, Christianson said she counted at least 10 law enforcement officers, including agents from Homeland Security Investigations and people identifying as air marshals.

The officers reportedly “stormed the cockpit, cuffed the co-pilot, arrested him, walked him down the aisle, and ushered him off the plane through the cabin doors located between first and coach.”

A second team of agents returned shortly after to retrieve the co-pilot’s personal belongings.

Christianson described the event as “shocking and unnerving,” noting that passengers received no information from the crew about what had occurred.

“It was rage-inducing to see someone being disappeared right in front of me,” she added.

The remaining pilot appeared unaware of the arrest, telling passengers he had “no idea what just happened.” The reason for the arrest has not been disclosed.

Matson Suspends Electric Vehicle Shipments Over Battery Fire Concerns

Matson, Inc. (NYSE: MATX), a leading U.S. carrier in the Pacific, has announced the immediate suspension of transporting electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles aboard its vessels, citing growing safety concerns related to lithium-ion batteries.

“Due to increasing concern for the safety of transporting vehicles powered by large lithium-ion batteries, Matson is suspending acceptance of used or new electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles for transport aboard its vessels,” the company stated in a customer advisory.

The decision follows several high-profile maritime incidents involving lithium battery fires, including the recent sinking of the Morning Midas in the North Pacific this June. The 600-foot vessel was carrying 3,159 vehicles, including 65 fully electric vehicles and 681 partial hybrid electric vehicles when smoke was detected from a deck carrying electric vehicles.

Despite crew efforts to deploy emergency firefighting protocols, the intensity of the fire forced all 22 crew members to abandon ship.

This incident echoes the February 2022 Felicity Ace disaster, where the car carrier caught fire in the mid-Atlantic and eventually sank with nearly 4,000 vehicles on board. Speculation has focused on lithium batteries in electric vehicles as the potential cause.

Maritime safety experts point to thermal runaway as the primary hazard with lithium-ion batteries. This phenomenon occurs when a battery enters an uncontrollable, self-heating state that can result in the ejection of gas, shrapnel, or particulates along with extremely high temperatures.

“Thermal runaway also means that the battery begins producing its fuel to burn, its oxygen to support combustion, and the heat necessary to keep the fire burning,” according to Matson’s website.

The U.S. Coast Guard previously issued warnings about the extreme risks associated with loading damaged EVs onto commercial vessels, particularly following Hurricane Ian where saltwater exposure led to numerous EV fires.

In addition to containerships, Matson operates combination container/roll-on/roll-off vessels as part of their fleet, serving ports across Hawaii, the U.S. Mainland, Alaska, and Guam.

The company stated it “continues to support industry efforts to develop comprehensive standards and procedures to address fire risk posed by lithium-ion batteries at sea and plans to resume acceptance of them when appropriate safety solutions that meet our requirements can be implemented.”

As the global maritime industry confronts these emerging challenges, regulatory bodies including the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) have released new guidance for lithium battery shipping, requiring compliance with both domestic regulations and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code.

Grassley Responds to Trump’s Request to Cancel August Recess to Get Judicial Nominees Confirmed as Democrats Obstruct

Chuck Grassley, the very powerful Senate Judiciary Chairman, responded to President Trump’s call to cancel the August recess.

President Trump last Saturday evening called on Senate Majority Leader John Thune to cancel the August recess to get his judicial nominees confirmed.

Trump called on Thune to work through August to confirm the backlog of judicial nominees.

“Hopefully the very talented John Thune, fresh off our many victories over the past two weeks and, indeed, 6 months, will cancel August recess (and long weekends!), in order to get my incredible nominees confirmed. We need them badly!!! DJT” Trump said last Saturday evening.

On Sunday, Grassley said he is “with” Trump and is willing to work through the August recess to confirm the president’s judicial nominees since the Democrats are stonewalling.

Grassley has pushed a few of Trump’s high-profile nominees through the Senate Judiciary Committee but there is still a backlog of 135 nominees.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune has not fully committed to canceling the August recess but he is thinking about it since the Democrats are obstructing Trump’s agenda.

Last Monday, Thune told reporters that he’s thinking about canceling the August recess.

“We’re thinking about it. We want to get as many nominees through the pipeline as we can,” Thune said.

“we’re going to be looking at all the options in the next weeks to try and get as many of those across the finish line as we can,” he said.

“This is the first president in history who has never had, at this point in his presidency, a civilian nominee approved either by unanimous consent or voice vote in the Senate,” Thune said last Thursday during an interview on the “Brian Kilmeade Show” on Fox News Radio, Fox reported.

“As we head into the August break we need to get a whole bunch more confirmed, and we intend to do that,” he said.

“Because of the way the Democrats are playing in their Trump Derangement Syndrome, they’re putting up an unprecedented level of obstruction,” Thune added. “I think the only way to beat that is to just grind them down.”
