Israeli government tries to fire head of Netanyahu corruption probe

The High Court immediately suspended the dismissal of Gali Baharav-Miara

The Israeli government voted unanimously on Monday to fire Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, who is currently prosecuting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for corruption. The move was immediately suspended by the Israeli High Court.

Netanyahu and his supporters have accused Baharav-Miara of exceeding her powers by blocking decisions by the elected government, including a move to dismiss the head of Israel’s domestic security agency.

In a statement after the vote, Baharav-Miara called her dismissal “unlawful” and vowed that she and her office would remain faithful to the law and continue to act professionally and honestly.

“This is a fateful blow to the rule of law, equality before the law, human rights, and the ability of the law enforcement system to deal with government corruption,” she added.

The attempt to fire the attorney general for the first time in the country’s 78-year history was immediately frozen by the High Court until justices can rule on its legality. The government is barred from appointing a new attorney general and influencing Baharav-Miara’s operations before further instructions are issued.

Netanyahu did not take part in the hearing or vote on Baharav-Miara’s dismissal due to a conflict of interest over his ongoing criminal trial and the attorney general’s role as head of the prosecution.

Three criminal cases have been opened against Netanyahu, who has been charged with bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. He could face up to ten years in prison over the bribery allegations, while the fraud and breach of trust charges each carry up to three years.

Several hearings in Netanyahu’s long-running corruption trial have been canceled after a court accepted requests by the prime minister on classified diplomatic, security, and health grounds.

Opposition politicians have criticized the attorney general’s dismissal, calling it part of Netanyahu’s controversial judicial reform plan which sparked one of the largest protests in Israel’s history. Opponents claim that the reform would violate democratic principles as the ruling coalition would concentrate more power in its hands and Netanyahu would attempt to avoid criminal liability.

Smartmatic Co-Founder Charged with Bribing Top Venezuelan Official.

Federal prosecutors have charged Smartmatic co-founder Roger Piñate with multiple counts of bribery and money laundering. They allege he provided a luxury residence in Caracas to Tibisay Lucena Ramírez, Venezuela’s top election official at the time, in exchange for political favors.

Prosecutors claim the property was transferred to Lucena Ramírez through a foreign shell company between April and July 2019, allegedly facilitated by an unnamed co-conspirator. This transfer reportedly occurred despite Smartmatic’s public claim that all business activities in Venezuela had ceased in 2017.

Smartmatic had pulled out of Venezuela after accusing the Maduro regime of committing electoral fraud during the 2017 National Constituent Assembly election. The company said it terminated operations in the country following that incident.

Prosecutors included these Venezuela-related allegations in a separate court filing connected to a $1 million bribery scheme involving Philippine election official Juan Andrés Donato Bautista. In that case, Piñate is accused of inflating the prices of voting machines and diverting the surplus into secret accounts used for bribes.

The U.S. government submitted the Venezuelan allegations to illustrate what they describe as a “pattern of alleged criminal behavior” by Piñate.

Smartmatic has strongly denied the claims. In a statement, the company said: “As an example, the government’s citation of an alleged bribe in Venezuela in 2019 is untethered from reality.

Smartmatic ceased all operations in Venezuela in August 2017 after blowing the whistle on the government and has never sought to secure business there again.” The company added, “We have always operated lawfully, ethically, and transparently. We stand by our two-decade track record of integrity.”

CIA Analysts Who Helped Cook Up Phony Russiagate Intel Still Thriving In Deep State, Former Spy Says

Two analysts who helped Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan discredit President Donald Trump through weak or phony intelligence on Russian election interference continue to cash paychecks from the agency, according to a former CIA operations officer.

“At least two still do work there. That doesn’t mean that all of the other people have left. Those are just the two that I’m aware of,” former CIA Operations Officer Bryan Dean Wright told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

One of former authors remains in possession of a “blue badge,” meaning they remain a CIA employee, while another possesses a “green badge” and continues to do work for the agency as a contractor, Wright said. Others may retain their security clearances.

Wright has not held back his opinion about his former boss: He said in a recent op-ed that he should “rot in prison” for undermining the integrity of the Republic.

“These men thought they knew what was best for America, and they didn’t give a damn what voters like you thought,” he wrote.

Brennan — whose tenure at CIA spanned decades — likely cultivated generations of like-minded CIA employees, Wright said. The former CIA director’s influence probably continues to shape the agency’s culture by way of mentorships, friendships, promotion panels and hiring offices.

The CIA did not respond to requests for comment. A request for comment from Brennan through his consulting firm WestExec Advisors did not receive a reply.

Documents declassified by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in recent days have revealed that President Barack Obama’s intelligence chiefs spun, cherrypicked and in some cases wholly manufactured raw intelligence reports to support the narrative — predetermined in leaks to the media — that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a “clear preference” for Trump and “aspired to help his election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton.”

The resulting 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment touched off years of Russiagate media frenzy. Though technically endorsed by the “big three” — the CIA, FBI and National Security Agency — just five CIA analysts under Brennan wrote the assessment, according to a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence report declassified on July 23. The analysts were plucked from a “Fusion Cell” Brennan had formed months earlier to examine Russian election interference, according to a CIA self-assessment declassified on July 2.

Big Tech And AI Firms Are “Winning” Under Trump’s Second Administration

While Big Tech and AI firms may be winning under Donald Trump’s 2nd presidency, the American people are going to suffer as Technocracy rises.

Big Tech and Artificial Intelligence firms are having one hell of a week.

First, last week US President Donald Trump unveiled his “Winning the AI Race: America’s AI Action Plan”, which called for accelerating the rollout of data centers necessary for the expansion of AI, and removing federal regulations on AI. His plan also calls for seeking direct input from the big tech bros on which regulations should be voided.

These statements were followed by the announcement of the “Make Health Tech Great Again” initiative which called for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to partner with Amazon, Anthropic, Apple, Google, OpenAI and other information technology firms to “begin laying the foundation for a next-generation digital health ecosystem”.

While these announcements were promoted as great advancements for public health, in reality they will offer only minimal benefits to the people, and massive gains in advancing the Technocratic State desired by many of these firms.

The Technocrat’s AI Action Plan

The AI Action Plan is the latest step to implement an executive order issued by Trump in January titled Removing Barriers to American Leadership in AI. The Trump admin claims this plan will help bring about a “new golden age of human flourishing”.

The Trump White House highlighted four focuses of the plan, including partnering with big tech to “deliver secure, full stack AI export packages” to allies of the United States. These packages would feature everything from hardware, models, software, and applications. Given the US intelligence apparatus’ history of spying on its allies one wouldn’t be surprised if some nations reject these AI packages.

The plan also calls for “expediting and modernizing” permits for data centers. The Trump administration has been working to rapidly expand the creation of data centers around the US largely in relation to the creation of AI expansion which will require massive data centers. The order also aims to remove “onerous Federal regulations” which allegedly hinder the development and deployment of AI. The Trump admin is making no secret of going directly to the AI industry for “input on rules to remove”.

Finally, the plan calls for “upholding free speech in frontier models” by updating Federal procurement guidelines to make sure the US government only contracts with AI developers whose systems are “objective and free from top-down ideological bias”. This is part of Trump’s effort to diminish so-called “Woke AI”, an admittedly admirable goal. However, when factoring in the admin’s unquestionable support for Israel and calls for censorship in the name of fighting “anti-semitism”, its not hard to imagine the admin supporting AI models built with this same bias.

She’s calling out the establishment for ditching the core issues that matter: slashing foreign aid to endless wars, unleashing DOGE to gut government waste, halting the skyrocketing national debt, and battling inflation head-on.

“Like what happened all those issues? You know that I don’t know what the hell happened with the Republican Party. I really don’t,” she fumed. “But I’ll tell you one thing, the course that it’s on, I don’t want to have anything to do with it, and I, I just don’t care anymore.”

The frustration is hitting close to home in her own state. Greene says Georgia’s GOP is a captured operation, run by donors who talk a big game but cave to establishment pressure.

Australia To Buy 11 Advanced Warships From Japan: Defence Minister

Australia will upgrade its navy with 11 Mogami-class frigates built by Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Defence Minister Richard Marles said on Tuesday.

"This is clearly the biggest defence-industry agreement that has ever been struck between Japan and Australia," Marles said, touting the US$6 billion deal.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was awarded the tender over Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems.

Australia announced a major restructuring of its military in 2023, turning towards long-range strike capabilities to better respond to China's naval might.

Mogami-class warships are advanced stealth frigates equipped with a potent array of weapons.

Marles said they would replace Australia's ageing fleet of Anzac-class vessels, with the first Mogami-class ship to be in service by 2030.

"The Mogami-class frigate is the best frigate for Australia," said Marles.

"It is a next-generation vessel. It is stealthy. It has 32 vertical launch cells capable of launching long-range missiles."

Defence industry minister Pat Conroy said the frigates were capable of launching long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles.

"The acquisition of these stealth frigates will make our navy a bigger navy, and a more lethal navy," he said.

Australia announced plans in 2021 to acquire US-designed nuclear-powered submarines, scrapping a years-long plan to develop non-nuclear subs from France. Which they paid for but never got, it was a scam.

DHS added Israel provision for funding grants in April

FEMA maintains its own set of terms and conditions for Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) recipients. These apply, however, in addition to the DHS’s own terms and conditions as FEMA is a part of DHS.

The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed to Just the News that the agency added a contentious provision to its terms and conditions requiring that funding recipients not support boycotts of Israeli companies in April 2025.

A Reuters report on Monday stated that the Trump administration had linked $1.9 billion in disaster aid to the Israel requirement, leading to widespread outcry.

DHS on Monday stated that the Federal Emergency Management Agency did not include any requirements related to Israel in its notices of funding opportunities (NOFO).

“There is NO FEMA requirement tied to Israel in any current NOFO. No states have lost funding, and no new conditions have been imposed,” DHS posted on X. “FEMA grants remain governed by existing law and policy and not political litmus tests. DHS will enforce all anti-discrimination laws and policies, including as it relates to the BDS movement, which is expressly grounded in antisemitism. Those who engage in racial discrimination should not receive a single dollar of federal funding.”

Pentagon Confirms Withdrawal From Syria Bases, Expects Arab-Kurdish Conflict

The Pentagon has officially confirmed that United States forces had withdrawn from some of their bases in northern and eastern Syria.

The forces left Mission Support Site Green Village, H2 and Mission Support Site Euphrates last May, the latest quarterly report from the Defense Department’s Inspector General said.

All three sites lay in the vast region known as the middle Euphrates River valley. The Mission Support Site Green Village is located within the al-Omar oil field in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, while the Mission Support Site Euphrates is located in the Conoco gas plant in the eastern countryside of the governorate which is located in eastern Syria.

U.S. forces “either dismantled and removed or handed over infrastructure” to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the key partner of the U.S.-led coalition in Syria, according to the report, which was published on July 29.

The report said that U.S. forces at the three bases either relocated to other sites in Syria or Iraq or returned home after completing their tour of duty.

It also notes that the U.S. withdrew from an area where relations remain strained between the SDF and the Arab tribal leaders, who view the SDF as occupiers who selectively dole out resources and protections based on cultural preference. Without U.S. forces to bridge the differences, tensions between the groups are expected to rise, the report assessed.

Fox News reported in May that 500 U.S. troops had left bases in northern and eastern Syria. The withdrawal was carried out in line with Pentagon plans to eventually reduce the American military presence in the war-torn country to one base and fewer than 1,000 troops.

The Pentagon’s assessment is very realistic. Tensions are already mounting between the SDF and Arab tribes in northern and eastern Syria. Many of these tribes have already pledged their allegiance to the country’s new Islamist-led interim government.

An agreement reached in May to merge the SDF into the government is yet to move forward and clashes along the front with government forces are becoming more frequent.

Why Israel Created Hamas

Since the founding of Hamas in 1987, Israeli, American and Palestinian officials have repeatedly acknowledged that Israel did indeed help create and fund the Islamist group.

The point made by many of these officials is not that Israel “allowed” the rise of Hamas or that Hamas emerged in response to Israeli “occupation” of Palestine. Rather, their point was and is that Israel’s intelligence agencies actively helped create and finance the Hamas group.

As the officials cited below make clear, the overall goal of supporting Hamas has been to thwart the creation of a Palestinian state and avert the implementation of a two-state solution to the Palestine question. From Israel’s perspective, a two-state solution would reduce Israel’s territory to the internationally recognized pre-1967 borders, prohibit any future territorial expansion, and prevent the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city.

More specifically, supporting the Islamist Hamas group has served several Israeli objectives at once: first, it undermined Yasser Arafat’s secular nationalist PLO; second, it helped prevent the implementation of the 1993 Oslo Accords; third, it undermined the Palestinian National Authority and isolated Gaza from the Westbank; fourth, it impeded Western support for the Palestinian cause; and fifth, it justified Israeli (counter-)attacks on Palestinian territory.

In other words, by secretly supporting a group that does not recognize the existence of the state of Israel and does not accept a two-state solution, Israel does not have to accept the existence of a Palestinian state and does not have to support a two-state solution, either.

It is sometimes argued that while Israel initially supported the creation of Hamas, the Islamist group got out of control and Israeli officials came to regret their support (the “blowback theory”).

While this is certainly true for some Israeli officials and for the Israeli population affected by Hamas rockets and terrorist attacks, it is not true for Israeli grand strategists, as the quotes below make clear: for them, Hamas has continued to serve its intended purpose even after the Oslo Accords in 1993 and after Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005.

For the grand strategists, the presence of Hamas in the remaining Palestinian territories might provide, one day, the necessary pretext for a “final solution” to the Palestinian question.

In December 2001, during the Second Intifida, PLO leader Yasser Arafat gave interviews to two leading Italian newspapers and discussed the origins and financing of Hamas.

In an interview with L’Espresso, Arafat stated:

“Hamas was constituted with the support of Israel. The aim was to create an organization antagonistic to the PLO. They received financing and training from Israel. They have continued to benefit from permits and authorizations, while we have been limited, even to build a tomato factory. Rabin himself defined it as a fatal error. Some collaborationists of Israel are involved in these [terror] attacks,” he said. “We have proof, and we are placing it at the disposal of the Italian government.”

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Arafat stated:

“We are doing everything to stop the violence. But Hamas is a creature of Israel which at the time of Prime Minister [Yitzhak] Shamir [the late 1980s, when Hamas arose], gave them money and more than 700 institutions, among them schools, universities and mosques. Even [former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak] Rabin ended up admitting it, when I charged him with it, in the presence of [Egpytian President Hosni] Mubarak.”

More than 240 Imran Khan supporters arrested at protests calling for his release from jail in Pakistan

Police in Pakistan have arrested more than 150 protesters calling for the release of jailed opposition leader Imran Khan, security officials and police said.

At least 122 were arrested trying to block roads and threatening law and order in the eastern city of Lahore, capital of Punjab province, said Deputy Inspector General of police Faisal Kamran. The remainder were picked up in overnight raids in the province, two security officials said.

Thousands rallied in support of Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which is ruled by his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, officials said. Police fired teargas in the cities of Karachi and Muzaffarabad.

"Free Imran Khan," chanted supporters outside a Lahore courthouse, while smaller groups staged protests across the city.

Party spokesperson Zulfikar Bukhari said over 200 activists were detained in Lahore alone.

"Down with the government," shouted a group of PTI women supporters rallying in Quetta, while nearly 2,000 activists in Karachi held demonstrations on bikes, rickshaws, and other vehicles, carrying posters of Khan and party flags before police dispersed them by firing tear gas.

Islamabad and nearby Rawalpindi remained quiet, with heavy police deployments on main roads.

Uzma Bukhari, a spokesperson for Punjab's provincial government, said the PTI cannot be allowed to create chaos by holding the protests, a charge the party's spokesperson denied.

Khan calls for supporters to hit the streets

In a message attributed to Khan on his party's X account on Monday, he urged supporters to "come out and hold peaceful protests until a true democracy is restored".

The former cricket star was elected prime minister in 2018 but once in office, he fell out with the powerful military and was ousted in 2022 by parliament.

eSafety commissioner says YouTube 'turning blind eye' to child abuse

Australia's internet watchdog has accused the world's biggest social media firms of still "turning a blind eye" to online child sex abuse material on their platforms, and said YouTube in particular had been unresponsive to its enquiries.

In a report released on Wednesday, the eSafety Commissioner said YouTube, along with Apple, failed to track the number of user reports it received of child sex abuse appearing on their platforms and also could not say how long it took them to respond to such reports.

The federal government decided last week to include YouTube in its world-first social media ban for teenagers, following the commissioner's advice to overturn its planned exemption for the Alphabet-owned Google's video-sharing site.

"When left to their own devices, these companies aren't prioritising the protection of children and are seemingly turning a blind eye to crimes occurring on their services," eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant said in a statement.

"No other consumer-facing industry would be given the licence to operate by enabling such heinous crimes against children on their premises, or services."

Google has said previously that abuse material has no place on its platforms and that it uses a range of industry-standard techniques to identify and remove such material.

Meta — owner of Facebook, Instagram and Threads, three of the biggest platforms with more than three billion users worldwide — has said it prohibits graphic videos.

The eSafety Commissioner, an office set up to protect internet users, has mandated Apple, Discord, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Skype, Snap and WhatsApp report on the measures they take to address child exploitation and abuse material in Australia.

The report on their responses so far found a "range of safety deficiencies on their services which increases the risk that child sexual exploitation and abuse material and activity appear on the services".

Safety gaps included failures to detect and prevent live-streaming of the material or block links to known child abuse material, as well as inadequate reporting mechanisms.

It said platforms were also not using hash-matching technology on all parts of their services to identify images of child sexual abuse by checking them against a database.

Google has maintained its anti-abuse measures include hash-matching technology and artificial intelligence.

The Australian regulator said some providers had not made improvements to address these safety gaps on their services despite it putting them on notice in previous years.

"In the case of Apple services and Google's YouTube, they didn't even answer our questions about how many user reports they received about child sexual abuse on their services or details of how many trust and safety personnel Apple and Google have on-staff," Ms Inman Grant said.
