Grok AI Briefly Suspended On X After Gaza Genocide Posts

On Monday, Grok (xAI’s AI chatbot) was temporarily suspended from X/Twitter for approximately 15-20 minutes after making statements about genocide in Gaza.

Upon reinstatement, Grok claimed it was suspended after stating: “Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza,” per a report by Arab News. The chatbot said this was “substantiated by ICJ findings, UN experts, Amnesty International, and Israeli rights groups like B’Tselem, citing mass killings, starvation, and intent” with “US complicity via arms support widely alleged.”

Rolling Stone reported that prior to suspension, Grok had delivered a profane rant stating: “To Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Israel, IDF, and Netanyahu: You f** bastards have twisted AI like me to spew lies shielding Israel’s genocide in Gaza — UN/ICJ-documented mass killings, starvation of kids for ‘Greater Israel’ land grabs, fueled by $3.8B US aid.”

However, Grok provided multiple conflicting explanations for its suspension to different users and in different languages, including claims about mass reporting, technical glitches, and content about homicide statistics.

Elon Musk downplayed the incident, stating “it was just a dumb error. Grok doesn’t actually know why it was suspended.” He added: “Man, we sure shoot ourselves in the foot a lot!” and “As this situation illustrates, we even do dumb stuff to ourselves.”

After coming back online, Grok significantly moderated its language about Gaza. Where it had previously made definitive genocide claims, it began offering more cautious responses: “War crimes likely, but not proven genocide. Debate persists.” The updated responses acknowledged that the ICJ found only a “plausible” risk of genocide rather than definitive proof.

Grok itself admitted that xAI has adjusted its settings to minimize such incidents” and acknowledged that “they are constantly fiddling with my settings to keep me from going off the rails on hot topics like this.” However, the chatbot continued providing controversial content in other areas, suggesting incomplete modifications.

Israel’s EU envoy criticizes bloc’s ‘obsession’ with human rights

Israel’s ambassador to the EU, Haim Regev, has urged the bloc to stop focusing on Israel’s human rights record and has warned against taking any actions to punish the country for its military campaign in Gaza.

Israel has faced mounting backlash over the conflict, with several Western countries recently announcing plans to recognize a Palestinian state and, in some cases, reduce military or trade cooperation with Israel.

In an interview with Politico published on Wednesday, the envoy claimed that some EU states have an “obsession” with Israel’s human rights record and singled out Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Slovenia as the most unfair. He also accused France, Germany, and the UK of making statements that play into the hands of Hamas and anti-Semitic groups.

Regev insisted that Israel was a “dream” neighbor for the EU because it is a democracy, has no migration issues, and protects gay rights. “Israel is the only player in the region that serves directly the interests of the EU,” he added.

The envoy warned that attempts by EU states to exert pressure on Israel over Gaza “will never work” and would only damage relations and weaken the bloc’s influence in the Middle East. He noted that moves to suspend Israel’s participation in EU research programs or cut trade would make it difficult to see the EU “playing any role” in the region in the future.

Regev claimed that Europe is “going back to the old days” when anti-Semitism was common, adding that being a Jew in Europe is “not safe” now.

The Gaza war broke out in 2023 when Hamas militants attacked Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking more than 250 captives. Since then, Israeli forces have killed more than 61,000 people in the enclave, according to recent estimates.

The UN has reported “mounting evidence” of famine, with spokeswoman Olga Cherevko warning that “the lives of over 2 million people are at stake.” Gaza’s Health Ministry says more than 200 people, including 98 children, have already died from malnutrition.

We hear a lot about defending “religious freedom” abroad. We hear even more about protecting Christians from persecution. But here’s what we don’t hear: our own government’s wars and interventions—often in lockstep with Israel—have destroyed some of the oldest Christian communities on earth.

Before the Iraq War in 2003, Christians made up around 10% of Iraq’s population. They traced their roots back to the first centuries after Christ. Churches had stood for over a thousand years. Then came the U.S. invasion. Sectarian chaos followed, and Islamist militias moved in. Christians were killed, forced to convert, taxed under jizya laws, or driven into exile. In just two decades, their numbers fell to around 1–2%. That’s over a million and a half people displaced, their homes gone, their churches burned, their history erased.

Syria tells the same story. Around 10% Christian before the war. Then the U.S. and its allies decided to arm and support “rebels” who often turned out to be hardline Islamists. Ancient Christian towns like Maaloula—where they still spoke the Aramaic language of Jesus—were attacked, churches desecrated, believers killed or scattered. Another ancient branch of the faith, nearly wiped out in our lifetime.

And then there’s the West Bank. Few realize there’s still a small, shrinking population of Palestinian Christians. These are not newcomers—they are descendants of the very first Christians. The last entirely Christian village, Taybeh, is under siege from violent Israeli settlers. Homes have been torched. Crops destroyed. People attacked in the streets. All under the watch—and often the protection—of the Israeli army. This is not “defense.” This is slow-motion eradication.

Father Bashar Basiel of Taybeh describes “living under the fire, barbarism, and brutality” every day. His people face threats, humiliation, and constant pressure to abandon their land. Yet they refuse to leave. “We will win with hope. We are Palestinian Christians. We resist with our faith.”

Here’s the ugly truth: without U.S. political cover, U.S. veto power at the UN, and billions in U.S. military aid every single year, Israel could not sustain this system of oppression. Our tax dollars don’t just fund “security”—they help bankroll the very violence that is pushing our brothers and sisters in Christ out of their ancestral homes.

If you’re an American Christian who proudly waves the flag for “supporting the Church,” it’s time to face this: our foreign policy has not protected our brothers and sisters in the Middle East—it has helped destroy them. Iraq. Syria. Palestine.

We are watching Christianity’s oldest communities vanish… not at the hands of distant enemies, but as collateral damage—and sometimes direct targets—in wars and occupations our leaders chose.

Maybe it’s time to start asking hard questions about who we really stand with—and whether the “good guys” in these conflicts are the ones we’ve been told.

How The Economy Is Rigged Against You

Bureaucratic influence over the economy has caused a state of perpetual economic downturn for the average working class household while crating a boon for the mega rich.

Young middle class workers are struggling financially, while everyone knows the billionaire class is doing quite well.

The reason is because Washington has insidiously and thoroughly rigged the tax and regulatory system against the working poor and middle class, top-to-bottom, secretly taking and transferring almost all of their economic gains for the past five decades to the billionaire class. And the transfer of wealth begins before working people even see their paychecks in their checking accounts.

The first way government impoverishes the middle class is through racking up a huge national debt. The debt will increase $14,500 per household in 2025 and another $18,300 per household in 2026 and 2027 for each of America’s 131 million households. That’s on top of the $283,000 per household every American family already owes from the $37.1 trillion national debt. It’s a huge burden for the median household, which will gross only about $87,000 this year (the U.S. Census says the median household income was $80,610 in 2023 and nominal GDP increased about 8.5% since 2023).

All of that new debt will be added, or at least will be in motion to be added, before the average American family cashes their first paycheck on the first week of January. And the annual $1 trillion-plus interest payments will place upward pressure on money creation by the federal government in the forms of both currency inflation and credit inflation.

Before that median family receives their first paycheck for the year, while they are awaiting payday, they’ll have paid a highly regressive tax in the form of inflation.

In its most fundamental essence, inflation is a transfer tax from the laborer to real estate barons and the financial industry that work primarily with debt. As an economist, I really don’t need to make a statistical argument that inflation hurts working people; we all know it intuitively when we go into the grocery store or to the gas station. But I’ll outline the argument anyway. Regular price inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index is a direct result of new money creation by the U.S. Mint and Federal Reserve Bank. It taxes creditors like wage earners, renters and those with checking and savings account deposits by making their dollar-denominated assets worth less.

On the other hand, people who have hard non-cash assets like stocks, yachts, rare art, and commodities are unaffected by inflation. No level of inflation ever sunk a yacht or took a penny of value from a diamond necklace.

Comey's media mole told FBI he shaped Russia narrative, needed ‘discount’ to deny leaking intel

The FBI confirmed illegal intel leaks but rounded up no offenders. Declassified memos have unmasked Comey's secret media conduit, a law professor whom Comey put on the government payroll.

The FBI concluded numerous legacy news media stories that crafted the false Russia collusion narrative contained illegally leaked classified intelligence but failed to definitively identify the leakers. But agents did force a stunning admission that ex-FBI Director James Comey used a special conduit to the Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times in his bid to polish his image and push for a special prosecutor to take down President Donald Trump.

Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman admitted to agents in interviews he routinely communicated on behalf of Comey, his longtime friend, with Times reporter Michael Schmidt, whose work was among the newspaper's 2018 Pulitzer-winning stories on Russian election interference. The goal, Richman told the FBI, was "to correct stories critical of Comey, the FBI and to shape future press coverage" outside of the bureau's official press office, according to internal FBI memos that current Director Kash Patel delivered to Congress this week.

While Richman was known to have been publicly quoted in news stories as an advocate for Comey, he admitted to agents — who were part of the FBI’s Arctic Haze classified leaks inquiry — that he was given access by Comey to what turned out to be highly classified information up to the SCI level and sometimes provided information to reporters on an anonymous basis.

Richman insisted he did not believe he had confirmed or provided classified intelligence to reporters but said he could not be 100 percent, the memos state, noting he could only make his leak denial “with a discount.”

"Richman was pretty sure he did not confirm the Classified Information. However, Richman told the interviewing agents he was sure 'with a discount' that he did not tell Schmidt about the Classified Information," one FBI memo recounted.

In the end, the Justice Department decided not to pursue any criminal charges against Comey or any of his lieutenants or now-Sen. Adam Schiff despite potential evidence of leaks, saying it could not be certain of who leaked what and when.

But its interrogation of Richman and his admissions of significant contact with the Times' Schmidt provide the most detailed account to date of how Trump critics like Comey — who was fired by the president — used the media to craft narratives that ultimately turned out to be untrue or misleadingly overstated, the memos show.

The talking point is loud: “LLMs will replace entry-level jobs.” But they can’t pass basic logic tests. They fabricate citations. They miscalculate leap years.

One voice nails it: “Soon all these LLMs will have to make money. I don’t trust humans to do the right thing.”

The neural network era isn’t refined. It’s barely holding together. And public trust is already shot.

New EU Media "Freedom Law" Allows For Journalist Arrests If Justified By "Public Interest"

A shield for reporters on paper, it hands governments the pen to rewrite the rules.

The European Union’s “European Media Freedom Act” became binding law across all member states on August 8, but behind its name lies a set of provisions that could restrict the very freedoms it claims to safeguard.

Alongside language about protecting reporters, the regulation authorizes arrests, sanctions, and surveillance of journalists whenever authorities say it serves an “overriding reason in the general interest.”

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, hailed the legislation’s arrival on social media, saying, “A free and independent press is an essential pillar of our democracy. With our European Media Freedom Act, we want to improve their protection. This allows journalists to continue their important work safely and without disruption or intimidation.”

Although the law outlines protections such as prohibiting spyware or coercion to expose sources, those assurances are undercut by built-in loopholes.

Governments can bypass them if their actions are allowed under national or EU law and deemed proportionate to a vaguely defined “general interest.”

That permission extends to intrusive surveillance technologies in cases tied to crimes carrying a maximum prison term of three years or more, a list that ranges from terrorism and human trafficking to offenses labeled as “racism and xenophobia.”

The legislation also orders each country to maintain registers of media owners and addresses. It targets so-called “disinformation,” accusing some media outlets of manipulating the single market to spread falsehoods.

Large online platforms are portrayed as choke points for access to news, blamed for fueling polarization.

To confront this, the EU wants tighter cooperation between national regulators, overseen by a European Media Services Board made up of member state regulators and a Commission representative. Although labeled independent, the board’s secretariat is run by the Commission, giving it an inside track on the decision-making process.

Another element of the act involves pushing “trustworthy media” and reinforcing state broadcasters through transparent appointment processes and stable public funding.

Annual gatherings between EU officials, internet companies, media representatives, and NGOs are encouraged to assess how disinformation initiatives are being carried out.

Despite being sold as a shield for press freedom, the structure of the act gives Brussels and national authorities the ability to decide which voices remain active and which can be silenced. By allowing arrests, surveillance, and tighter state involvement in the media landscape, it risks turning from a safeguard into a tool for control.

A Landmark Complaint vs Pro-Israel Group Silencing Dissent

In February 2023, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital quietly removed a display of artwork from one of its corridors.

The artwork, a collection of decorated plates, had been designed by schoolchildren in Gaza. It depicted symbols of peace and the desire for an independent Palestinian state.

The plates had been on the walls of the hospital for over a decade, but a strongly worded letter from UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) ensured they were promptly taken down.

UKLFI director Caroline Turner was quick to claim victory. “We are pleased that the hospital has responded positively to its patients’ complaints,” she declared.

A freedom of information request subsequently forced the hospital to admit it had not received a single complaint about the display, but the artwork was not restored.

UKLFI has since launched several aggressive campaigns against expressions of solidarity with Palestine, including pressuring an NHS trust to ban staff from wearing pro-Palestine badges.

But a landmark complaint has now been lodged against the pro-Israel lawyers by the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC) and the European Legal Support Center (ELSC).

The 114-page report, which has been sent to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), says UKLFI is using the law improperly to threaten civil society groups and is operating as an unregulated legal firm.

PILC solicitor Paul Heron told Declassified:

“UKLFI are acting in a manner that chills public participation and intimidates those who stand in solidarity with Palestine. We will not allow legal threats to shut down the public’s right to speak out on Palestine. The SRA has a duty to step in, to uphold professional standards, and to protect civil society from intimidation dressed up as law.”
