Houthis claim drone strikes on four Israeli cities in Gaza war escalation

Sanaa: Yemen’s Houthi group said that it launched four drone attacks targeting the Israeli cities of Haifa, Negev, Eilat, and Be’er Sheva.

Using six drones, the attacks “successfully achieved their objectives,” the group’s military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV on Tuesday.

 

Sarea said the attacks were carried out in response to Israel’s “implementation of its plan to eliminate the Palestinian cause through genocide, starvation, and displacement.”

He also vowed continued attacks against Israel until “aggression on the Gaza Strip stops and the blockade is lifted.”

 

There were no immediate comments from Israel regarding the group’s alleged attacks, Xinhua news agency reported.

Houthi forces have fired dozens of missiles and drones toward Israel since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, citing solidarity with the Palestinians.

 

Most of the projectiles have been intercepted or have missed their targets. In response, Israel has carried out a series of strikes on ports and other infrastructure in Yemen.

Earlier on Saturday, Yemeni government forces repelled a large-scale offensive by the Houthi group in southern Yemen’s Dhalea province and killed three Houthi militants during the confrontation, a military official told Xinhua.

 

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua that the Houthis used heavy artillery in an attempt to break through government defensive lines in the Bab Ghalaq area in northern Dhalea, triggering intense fighting between the group and government forces.

The fighting lasted for about an hour before the Houthis were forced to withdraw in disarray toward their positions, whereas the government forces maintained their defensive positions, said the official.

Jill Caitlyn Brimmer, a daughter of Sue E. Brimmer of Portland, Me., was married there Aug. 27 to Patrick Morrow Boland, the son of Margaret M. Morrow of Pasadena, Calif., and the late Paul E. Boland. The groom’smother, a retired Federal District Court judge in Los Angeleswho received permission from Maine to preside at this event, officiated at Diamond’s Edge Restaurant and Marina on Great Diamond Island.

 

Mrs. Boland, 30, is a legislative assistant for health care policy in Washington for Senator Jack Reed, Democrat of Rhode Island. She graduated from George Washington University. Her mother retired as a special-education aide at Frank I. Brown Elementary School in South Portland, Me. The bride is also a daughter of the late Harvey H. Brimmer, who lived in Orono, Me.

 

Mr. Boland, 29, is the senior adviser and communications director in Washington for Representative Adam B. Schiff, Democrat of California, and for the Democratic staff of the House intelligence committee. The groom graduated from Colby College. His mother is the president of Public Counsel, a legal-services organization in Los Angeles. His father was an associate justice of the California Court of Appeal in Los Angeles.

 

The couple met in Washington in 2009, when Mr. Boland’s roommate invited Ms. Brimmer, a co-worker, to a barbecue.

$1,000 vs. Millions: Ukraine’s Darts Drone Scores Kills on Mi-28, Mi-8 in Flight

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) last year shot down two Russian helicopters in flight – a Mi-28 attack helicopter and a Mi-8 transport – using a drone worth only $1,000.

According to UNITED24, which released video footage showing Ukrainian drones in action on Sunday, the engagements were carried out by the SBU’s Special Operations Center “A.”

First, a clip captures a Ukrainian drone attacking a Russian Mi-28 over the Kursk region on Aug. 6, 2024.

 

Earlier, Kyiv Post reported that SBU sources confirmed soldiers from the M2 unit of the SBU Special Operations Center had successfully hit the Mi-28 with a long-range FPV drone.

The footage, initially posted by Ukrainian activist Serhii Sternenko on Telegram, was verified as authentic by those SBU sources.

At the time, it was unclear exactly what weapon had been used, though early reports suggested the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) had deployed an attack drone.

 

While operating in the Kursk region, SBU drone operator “Glyba” became the first person in history to hit a helicopter with a drone, UNITED24 reported. Just a few days later, the feat was repeated – this time against a Mi-8 transport helicopter.

The destruction of both helicopters was not carried out with an anti-aircraft system or conventional FPV quadcopter, as initially believed, but with a Ukrainian-made Darts FPV fixed-wing drone, according to Defense Express.

“And this is the exact model that the fighters of Alpha use to down not just one, but two Russian helicopters, which is pretty exciting,” UNITED24 wrote.

 

Glyba’s account

Glyba said that during the first incident, he was wearing FPV goggles and flying to confirm a strike on an armored vehicle carrying infantry.

“When we found that it had been destroyed, we returned to free search and saw a spot in a field,” he recalled. “At first, we thought it was a shadow from a cloud, but when we got closer, we realized it was a helicopter. We directed the drone at it.”

According to intelligence reports, the first helicopter – the Mi-28 – was carrying an assault team.

The second target, a Mi-8, was flying low. “We spotted it early and chased it for about 10 minutes,” Glyba said, adding that the drone was designed primarily for stationary targets, not moving ones.

The Mi-28 had been hovering over a field during a tactical landing, while the Mi-8’s flightpath was predicted and intercepted before being hit “right in the tail.”

Glyba said the unit has worked with the Darts drone for almost a year and a half, with confirmed kills including cars, armored vehicles, and ammunition systems.

 

About the Darts drone

The Darts is an FPV fixed-wing drone, controlled like a regular FPV unmanned aircraft but with a larger warhead, greater range, and higher speed than quadcopters – all for about $1,000.

It can carry a 4-5 kg warhead to a range of 40-50 km at around 160 km/h. Defense Express notes it is roughly comparable to the Russian “Molniya” [Lightning] drone, though Darts can carry up to 10 kg of explosives, with the Molniya’s range closer to 30 km.

In the released footage, the operator states the helicopters were “shot down” rather than merely hit. However, Defense Express points out that there is no public confirmation from Russian sources, meaning it is only certain the helicopters were damaged.

“At the same time, whether the drones managed to hit the critical elements of the helicopter at such an angle is a debatable issue,” the outlet added.

Grok AI Briefly Suspended On X After Gaza Genocide Posts

 

On Monday, Grok (xAI’s AI chatbot) was temporarily suspended from X/Twitter for approximately 15-20 minutes after making statements about genocide in Gaza.

 

Upon reinstatement, Grok claimed it was suspended after stating: “Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza,” per a report by Arab News. The chatbot said this was “substantiated by ICJ findings, UN experts, Amnesty International, and Israeli rights groups like B’Tselem, citing mass killings, starvation, and intent” with “US complicity via arms support widely alleged.”

 

Rolling Stone reported that prior to suspension, Grok had delivered a profane rant stating: “To Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Israel, IDF, and Netanyahu: You f** bastards have twisted AI like me to spew lies shielding Israel’s genocide in Gaza — UN/ICJ-documented mass killings, starvation of kids for ‘Greater Israel’ land grabs, fueled by $3.8B US aid.”

 

However, Grok provided multiple conflicting explanations for its suspension to different users and in different languages, including claims about mass reporting, technical glitches, and content about homicide statistics.

 

Elon Musk downplayed the incident, stating “it was just a dumb error. Grok doesn’t actually know why it was suspended.” He added: “Man, we sure shoot ourselves in the foot a lot!” and “As this situation illustrates, we even do dumb stuff to ourselves.”

 

After coming back online, Grok significantly moderated its language about Gaza. Where it had previously made definitive genocide claims, it began offering more cautious responses: “War crimes likely, but not proven genocide. Debate persists.” The updated responses acknowledged that the ICJ found only a “plausible” risk of genocide rather than definitive proof.

Ukraine strikes oil facility in western Russia in overnight drone attack, Kyiv confirm

Ukrainian drones struck a major oil pumping station in Russia's Bryansk Oblast overnight on Aug. 13, according to the Ukrainian military and the Kyiv Independent's source in the military intelligence agency (HUR).

The news comes as Ukraine escalates long-range drone strikes against Russian oil facilities, with the Russian oil industry being a key source of revenue that helps fund Moscow's aggression in Ukraine.

 

Ukrainian drones targeted the Unecha oil pumping station, part of the Transneft Druzhba pipeline network, sparking a large fire, the intelligence source told the Kyiv Independent.

The facility is one of the largest nodes in the Druzhba system, which spans about 9,000 kilometers (5,600 miles) and is used to supply Russia's defense industry. The operation was carried out in coordination with Ukraine's Armed Forces, the source said.

 

Ukraine's General Staff separately confirmed the attack, saying the Unecha station facilitates the transport for two pipelines with an annual capacity of 60 million metric tons.

"Damage and a large fire were recorded in the area of the support pumping station building," the military said, adding that explosions near tanks were also reported.

Unecha lies roughly 60 kilometers (35 miles) from the Russia-Ukraine border.

 

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 46 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across multiple regions overnight.

According to the ministry, 15 drones were downed over Bryansk Oblast, 11 over Volgograd Oblast, seven over Rostov Oblast, five over Krasnodar Krai, two each over the Belgorod and Voronezh oblasts, two over Russian-occupied Crimea, and two over the Sea of Azov.

 

In Krasnodar Krai, drone debris fell on the territory of a refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, igniting a truck, regional authorities said. There were no casualties reported.

Independent Russian outlet Astra reported, citing local residents, that other suspected strikes occurred near oil facilities, including in Volgograd.

 

Debris from a drone fell onto the roof of a 16-story apartment building in Volgograd, prompting an evacuation, Astra reported.

The building is located in a district where the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka, one of Russia's largest oil refineries, has previously been targeted.

 

In Belgorod, a civilian facility was hit by a Ukrainian drone, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov claimed.

No casualties were reported. The blast reportedly caused a fire, damaged windows, and damaged the building's facade.

The Kyiv Independent could not verify the claims.

Israel’s ambassador to the EU, Haim Regev, has urged the bloc to stop focusing on Israel’s human rights record and has warned against taking any actions to punish the country for its military campaign in Gaza.

 

Israel has faced mounting backlash over the conflict, with several Western countries recently announcing plans to recognize a Palestinian state and, in some cases, reduce military or trade cooperation with Israel.

 

In an interview with Politico published on Wednesday, the envoy claimed that some EU states have an “obsession” with Israel’s human rights record and singled out Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Slovenia as the most unfair. He also accused France, Germany, and the UK of making statements that play into the hands of Hamas and anti-Semitic groups.

 

Regev insisted that Israel was a “dream” neighbor for the EU because it is a democracy, has no migration issues, and protects gay rights. “Israel is the only player in the region that serves directly the interests of the EU,” he added.

 

The envoy warned that attempts by EU states to exert pressure on Israel over Gaza “will never work” and would only damage relations and weaken the bloc’s influence in the Middle East. He noted that moves to suspend Israel’s participation in EU research programs or cut trade would make it difficult to see the EU “playing any role” in the region in the future.

 

Regev claimed that Europe is “going back to the old days” when anti-Semitism was common, adding that being a Jew in Europe is “not safe” now.

 

The Gaza war broke out in 2023 when Hamas militants attacked Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking more than 250 captives. Since then, Israeli forces have killed more than 61,000 people in the enclave, according to recent estimates.

 

The UN has reported “mounting evidence” of famine, with spokeswoman Olga Cherevko warning that “the lives of over 2 million people are at stake.” Gaza’s Health Ministry says more than 200 people, including 98 children, have already died from malnutrition.

Drones attack oil facilities in three regions in Russia

In the early hours of Wednesday, August 13, UAV strikes targeted the Druzhba Oil Pipeline hub in the Bryansk region, the oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in the Krasnodar region, and several facilities in Volgograd.

As a result, Volgograd’s airport has suspended all arrivals and departures. This was reported by the BBC Russian Service, according to Ukrinform.

 

It is noted that, according to the Telegram channel Volgograd, “up to 20 units [drones] were recorded in the sector of the oil refinery in Volgograd.”

Later, the channel reported new drones over Volgograd and its satellite city, Volzhsky. The Federal Air Transport Agency reported the cancellation of flights at Volgograd Airport.

 

According to residents, the sounds of drones and air defense systems were audible in areas south of Volgograd, where a large industrial zone with an oil refinery and an oil depot is located.

According to the ASTRA Telegram channel, the Unecha linear production and dispatch station (LPDS) of the Druzhba Oil Pipeline was attacked in the Bryansk region.

 

Residents of the Bryansk region report that drones attacked the city of Unecha and the surrounding area again last night.

Ukrinform reported that Russia claimed that as a result of a UAV attack, the Afipsky Oil Refinery and a military unit were on fire in the Krasnodar region.

Ukrainian air defense neutralizes two Russian Iskander missiles, 32 drones overnight

According to Ukrinform, this information was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.

Beginning at 21:00 on Tuesday, August 12, Russian forces launched 49 Shahed-type attack UAVs and various types of decoy drones from multiple directions, including Russia’s Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Shatalovo.

Two Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles were also launched from the Kursk region.

 

The strike UAVs targeted the Donetsk, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, while the ballistic missiles were aimed at the Poltava region.

The aerial assault was repelled by a coordinated response involving Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00 on Wednesday, August 13, air defense forces had downed 34 aerial targets: two Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles and 32 Shahed UAVs and decoy drones in northern and eastern Ukraine.

 

Meanwhile, 17 drone strikes were recorded across 15 locations.

As Ukrinform previously reported, an explosion occurred late on August 12 during an aerial attack in Kremenchuk, Poltava region.

Prior to the strike, the Air Force had issued warnings of potential ballistic missile threats in several regions, including Poltava.

Minutes later, military personnel detected a missile heading toward Kremenchuk.

AMERICAN INTERVENTION HAS DESTROYED OLDEST CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES WORLDWIDE

 

We hear a lot about defending “religious freedom” abroad. We hear even more about protecting Christians from persecution. But here’s what we don’t hear: our own government’s wars and interventions—often in lockstep with Israel—have destroyed some of the oldest Christian communities on earth.

Before the Iraq War in 2003, Christians made up around 10% of Iraq’s population. They traced their roots back to the first centuries after Christ. Churches had stood for over a thousand years. Then came the U.S. invasion. Sectarian chaos followed, and Islamist militias moved in. Christians were killed, forced to convert, taxed under jizya laws, or driven into exile. In just two decades, their numbers fell to around 1–2%. That’s over a million and a half people displaced, their homes gone, their churches burned, their history erased.

 

Syria tells the same story. Around 10% Christian before the war. Then the U.S. and its allies decided to arm and support “rebels” who often turned out to be hardline Islamists. Ancient Christian towns like Maaloula—where they still spoke the Aramaic language of Jesus—were attacked, churches desecrated, believers killed or scattered. Another ancient branch of the faith, nearly wiped out in our lifetime.

 

And then there’s the West Bank. Few realize there’s still a small, shrinking population of Palestinian Christians. These are not newcomers—they are descendants of the very first Christians. The last entirely Christian village, Taybeh, is under siege from violent Israeli settlers. Homes have been torched. Crops destroyed. People attacked in the streets. All under the watch—and often the protection—of the Israeli army. This is not “defense.” This is slow-motion eradication.

 

Father Bashar Basiel of Taybeh describes “living under the fire, barbarism, and brutality” every day. His people face threats, humiliation, and constant pressure to abandon their land. Yet they refuse to leave. “We will win with hope. We are Palestinian Christians. We resist with our faith.”

 

Here’s the ugly truth: without U.S. political cover, U.S. veto power at the UN, and billions in U.S. military aid every single year, Israel could not sustain this system of oppression. Our tax dollars don’t just fund “security”—they help bankroll the very violence that is pushing our brothers and sisters in Christ out of their ancestral homes.

 

If you’re an American Christian who proudly waves the flag for “supporting the Church,” it’s time to face this: our foreign policy has not protected our brothers and sisters in the Middle East—it has helped destroy them. Iraq. Syria. Palestine.

 

We are watching Christianity’s oldest communities vanish… not at the hands of distant enemies, but as collateral damage—and sometimes direct targets—in wars and occupations our leaders chose.

 

Maybe it’s time to start asking hard questions about who we really stand with—and whether the “good guys” in these conflicts are the ones we’ve been told.

Drone strikes target army celebration in central Sudan: Witnesses

One Tamboul resident said chaos had erupted in the central square where "hundreds of people had gathered" for the ceremony as air defences responded.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from the strikes, the first in Al-Jazira state in months, and neither the army nor its paramilitary foes issued any comment.

Al-Jazira was Sudan's pre-war agricultural heartland.

 

It had been largely calm since the army recaptured it from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in January in the same counteroffensive that saw it retake Khartoum in March.

According to the United Nations, around a million people have returned to their homes in Al-Jazira since January.

Wednesday's celebration in Tamboul was due to be attended by Abu Aqla Kaykal, the commander of the Sudan Shield Forces, an armed group currently aligned with the regular army which has been accused of atrocities while fighting on both sides of Sudan's devastating war.

 

His defection back to the army's side late last year helped pave the way for its gains of recent months.

Since it began in April 2023, the war between the regular army and the RSF has killed tens of thousands of people and driven millions from their homes.

The army now controls the centre, north and east of Sudan, while the RSF hold nearly all of the west and parts of the south

How The Economy Is Rigged Against You

 

Bureaucratic influence over the economy has caused a state of perpetual economic downturn for the average working class household while crating a boon for the mega rich.

 

Young middle class workers are struggling financially, while everyone knows the billionaire class is doing quite well.

 

The reason is because Washington has insidiously and thoroughly rigged the tax and regulatory system against the working poor and middle class, top-to-bottom, secretly taking and transferring almost all of their economic gains for the past five decades to the billionaire class. And the transfer of wealth begins before working people even see their paychecks in their checking accounts.

 

The first way government impoverishes the middle class is through racking up a huge national debt. The debt will increase $14,500 per household in 2025 and another $18,300 per household in 2026 and 2027 for each of America’s 131 million households. That’s on top of the $283,000 per household every American family already owes from the $37.1 trillion national debt. It’s a huge burden for the median household, which will gross only about $87,000 this year (the U.S. Census says the median household income was $80,610 in 2023 and nominal GDP increased about 8.5% since 2023).

 

All of that new debt will be added, or at least will be in motion to be added, before the average American family cashes their first paycheck on the first week of January. And the annual $1 trillion-plus interest payments will place upward pressure on money creation by the federal government in the forms of both currency inflation and credit inflation.

 

Before that median family receives their first paycheck for the year, while they are awaiting payday, they’ll have paid a highly regressive tax in the form of inflation.

 

In its most fundamental essence, inflation is a transfer tax from the laborer to real estate barons and the financial industry that work primarily with debt. As an economist, I really don’t need to make a statistical argument that inflation hurts working people; we all know it intuitively when we go into the grocery store or to the gas station. But I’ll outline the argument anyway. Regular price inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index is a direct result of new money creation by the U.S. Mint and Federal Reserve Bank. It taxes creditors like wage earners, renters and those with checking and savings account deposits by making their dollar-denominated assets worth less.

 

On the other hand, people who have hard non-cash assets like stocks, yachts, rare art, and commodities are unaffected by inflation. No level of inflation ever sunk a yacht or took a penny of value from a diamond necklace.

Three Colombian soldiers killed in attack with explosive-laden drones

Three soldiers have been killed in a drone attack in south-west Colombia, which authorities have blamed on a dissident rebel group.

The devices dropped explosives on members of Colombia's navy and army, who were manning a checkpoint on the Naya River.

Four other members of the security forces were injured in the attack.

 

Drone attacks have become increasingly common in recent years in Colombia: in 2024, 115 such attacks were recorded in the country, most of them carried out by illegal armed groups.

In January, the government said it was putting a plan into place to prevent such attacks by beefing up its anti-drone technology, in order to better detect and "neutralise" drones.

The latest deadly attack happened near Buenaventura, a city on the Pacific coast which is a hotbed for drug trafficking.

 

Army officials gave the names of the three victims as Wilmar Rivas, Andrés Estrada and Dario Estrada.

Off-shoots of the Farc rebel group, which refused to sign a peace deal negotiated by the guerrilla group's leaders in 2016, have a strong presence in the area.

The rivers in the region are often used to transport cocaine - the main source of income for illegal armed groups - and weapons.

 

Military officials said one of the groups under the command of a man known as Iván Mordisco was behind Tuesday's drone attack.

Mordisco walked out of peace talks with the government in April 2024, and the dissident rebel factions he leads engage in criminal activities such as the extortion of farmers and landowners, illegal mining and cocaine trafficking.

Washington, DC –Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) announced staffing changes in his personal office and new hires for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI). Michael Bahar will join the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as staff director, and Timothy Bergreen will join as deputy staff director. Replacing Bergreen as Chief of Staff in the Congressman’s personal office is Jeff Lowenstein, who currently serves as Legislative Director and Deputy Chief of Staff. Patrick Boland, who currently serves as Communications Director and Senior Advisor to Schiff in his personal office, will continue in that role and also join the Committee as Communications Director.

 

HPSCI Staff Director – Michael Bahar

 

Michael Bahar will join the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as Staff Director for the Minority. He previously served as General Counsel for the Minority Staff of the House Intelligence Committee. Between March 2010 and February 2012, he served in the White House as Deputy Legal Advisor to the National Security Council Staff. While on Active Duty with the Navy Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, Bahar deployed twice, once to Afghanistan as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) to a Special Operations Task Force, and second to the Arabian Gulf and Horn of Africa as the SJA to a naval strike group. In the Navy, Bahar also served as the Aide to the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Navy, as Deputy SJA to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, as Assistant Staff Judge Advocate to Naval Special Warfare Development Group, and as a Prosecutor. Prior to going on Active Duty, Bahar was a litigation associate in the New York Offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

 

Bahar grew up in New York and graduated from New Rochelle High School. He has a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University, an M.Phil in International Relations from Cambridge University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an LL.M. in International/National Security Law from Columbia University. Bahar has also been an adjunct professor at NYU and at the University of North Florida, as well as the Artistic Director of a non-profit theatrical production company. Bahar is married to Hannah Yelland, an actress, and together they have one dog (Henry), and are expecting their first child in April.

Timothy Bergreen will join the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as Deputy Staff Director for the Minority. For the last decade Tim has served as Schiff’s Chief of Staff and foreign policy and national security advisor, and prior to that as Legislative Director. Before joining Schiff’s personal office staff, Bergreen was Special Assistant to the Director of the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff, where he focused on U.S. policy towards rogue states, democracy promotion, and contingency planning for post-conflict and stability operations. He has also served as foreign affairs and defense legislative assistant for Senator John Breaux and in a variety of positions in the United States House of Representatives. In addition to his government service, Bergreen has practiced law in Palo Alto, California and has worked as a political consultant and policy advocate in Washington, DC. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Vassar College, an M.A. in Political Science from Stanford University, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. Major incident declared after 5km wildfire nears RAF base in Yorkshire

A major incident has been declared as a huge fire ripping through Yorkshire, threatening to engulf an RAF base, rages on.

The blaze began in Langdale Moor on Monday and has now burned through around 5 square kilometres of moorland.

 

Drone footage shows a long line of smoke filling the air as fire incinerates more and more of the natural habitat close to the ballistic missile early warning base at RAF Fylingdales.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) has now deployed over 100 firefighters and 20 fire pumps to try and contain the fire.

 

They said in an update today: ‘The fire has now spread and is covering around 5 sq km.’

‘More resources are being sent to the scene. This has now been declared a major incident.’

 

Fire crews were first dispatched to the area at around 6.30pm on Monday after reports of smoke, with locals told to keep doors and windows shut.

At one point, the fire even ‘jumped’ a fire break put in place on late on Monday.

 

After that, the fire reduced in size on Tuesday night, but then spread further during the day on Wednesday.

The NYFRS group manager Tony Peel told the BBC there was ‘no timescale whatsoever’ for putting out the fire.

 

He said he expected the fire to die down overnight and that fire fighters would have a new plan on Thursday to extinguish the blaze. The moor fires has also paused steam train services run by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

They said in a statement: ‘Due to the prolonged hot weather and recent fires elsewhere in the county which have meant firefighting resources have been more stretched, we’ve taken the decision to delay the start of the special No. 60163 “Tornado” services set to run on 15th, 16th and 17th August.

 

‘In addition, we’ve switched all of our Pickering to Grosmont standard services to heritage diesel locomotives, and we still aim to run steam-hauled services between Grosmont and Whitby due to the lower fire risk profile.

‘The NYMR is doing everything it can to fully cooperate with and support the emergency services, taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and passengers, which is always our priority.’

Comey's media mole told FBI he shaped Russia narrative, needed ‘discount’ to deny leaking intel

 

The FBI confirmed illegal intel leaks but rounded up no offenders. Declassified memos have unmasked Comey's secret media conduit, a law professor whom Comey put on the government payroll.

 

The FBI concluded numerous legacy news media stories that crafted the false Russia collusion narrative contained illegally leaked classified intelligence but failed to definitively identify the leakers. But agents did force a stunning admission that ex-FBI Director James Comey used a special conduit to the Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times in his bid to polish his image and push for a special prosecutor to take down President Donald Trump.

 

Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman admitted to agents in interviews he routinely communicated on behalf of Comey, his longtime friend, with Times reporter Michael Schmidt, whose work was among the newspaper's 2018 Pulitzer-winning stories on Russian election interference. The goal, Richman told the FBI, was "to correct stories critical of Comey, the FBI and to shape future press coverage" outside of the bureau's official press office, according to internal FBI memos that current Director Kash Patel delivered to Congress this week.

 

While Richman was known to have been publicly quoted in news stories as an advocate for Comey, he admitted to agents — who were part of the FBI’s Arctic Haze classified leaks inquiry — that he was given access by Comey to what turned out to be highly classified information up to the SCI level and sometimes provided information to reporters on an anonymous basis.

 

Richman insisted he did not believe he had confirmed or provided classified intelligence to reporters but said he could not be 100 percent, the memos state, noting he could only make his leak denial “with a discount.”

 

"Richman was pretty sure he did not confirm the Classified Information. However, Richman told the interviewing agents he was sure 'with a discount' that he did not tell Schmidt about the Classified Information," one FBI memo recounted.

 

In the end, the Justice Department decided not to pursue any criminal charges against Comey or any of his lieutenants or now-Sen. Adam Schiff despite potential evidence of leaks, saying it could not be certain of who leaked what and when.

 

But its interrogation of Richman and his admissions of significant contact with the Times' Schmidt provide the most detailed account to date of how Trump critics like Comey — who was fired by the president — used the media to craft narratives that ultimately turned out to be untrue or misleadingly overstated, the memos show.

Mystery light over U.S. East Coast sparks UFO speculation online

Aug. 13 (UPI) – A mysterious spiraling light spotted in the night sky over the eastern United States sparked UFO speculation online, but was likely the result of a rocket launch.

Witnesses reported seeing the ball of light, which appeared to have a spiral shape around it, in the Tuesday night sky over New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, with some reports indicating it was seen as far west as Ohio.

 

Photos and videos of the light sparked speculation online, with some suggesting it could be a sign of extraterrestrial visitors.

Others pointed out, however, that the timing of the light coincided with the United Launch Alliance's Vulcan Centaur rocket, which took off shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

 

The rocket was carrying an an experimental navigation satellite into orbit for the U.S. military.

A second rocket was also launched around the same time in Africa.

Also, just looking at the number of bombs he’s dropped is also misleading, you have to look at the size of them and where the attacks were launched. Case in point, the bunker buster bombs he dropped on Iran’s nuclear sites, are a massive escalation in global tensions. With eyes turned to the skies, stargazers taking in the Perseid meteor shower on Tuesday night witnessed something out of this world.

In a publication on Facebook, the Astrolab du parc national du Mont-Mégantic in Quebec's Eastern Townships described it as "a magnificent and luminous spiral streaking across the sky at around 10:40 p.m."

 

Several people in the Montreal area also witnessed the strange phenomenon and reached out to CBC News describing a bright light enveloped by a fuzzy halo and warning of a UFO sighting.

While it was certainly unusual, it wasn't really an unidentified flying object, but more likely the result of a rocket launch, according to the Astrolab.

 

"It was in all likelihood the second stage of an Ariane 6 rocket which was igniting its engine in order to de-orbit itself after having released the European satellite Metop-SGA1 in a polar orbit," the Facebook post explained.

The European Space Agency confirmed on its website that a weather satellite was launched Tuesday evening at 9:37 p.m. local time, from the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana — an overseas department of France located in South America.

 

The new satellite is meant to usher in "a new era of weather and climate monitoring from polar orbit."

According to astrophysicist Robert Lamontagne, the rocket's orbit is what allowed for the spectacle to be visible in Quebec.

 

Most of the time rocket launches are on an equatorial orbit and so will be visible near the equator, he said.

In a polar orbit, the rocket has to go around the earth circling each pole of the planet.

 

"So the the trajectory of that the rocket made it so that from our latitude it could be seen in Montreal or the south of Quebec," he said.

But to witness the phenomena, other factors also need to align, according to Lamontagne, including the time of launch and the altitude reached by the rocket.

"From our point of view, we were in the dark, the sun was low below the horizon, but the rocket itself was so high that it was still lit by the by the sun," he said.

 

And as the second stage of the rocket re-entered the earth's atmosphere, he said, "it was spinning a little bit, there was exhaust gases coming out from it and that's what people saw in the sky."

A spokesperson for the Canadian Space Agency told CBC News that many observers captured video of the event, with the agency confirming it was the ESA's Ariane 6 rocket.

THIS IS WHERE THE FIGHT FOR MY LIFE GETS VERY REAL - I was just informed on Monday the 11th while heading back from the Vindicated Conference by my lawyers in Canada that the Crown Attorneys and the residing Judge in Ottawa have revoked my lawyers right to appear on my behalf and demanded that I appear in Ottawa Court in person to answer one simple question. Am I going to be attending my Trial scheduled for Oct, Nov, and Dec of 2025 in person? If I do not appear in person on Aug 26th, the court will hold me in breech, so that they can then proceed with an Extradition Warrant for my arrest and potential return back to Canada.

 

Where this all started: Appx 6 weeks ago, the crown approached my lawyers via email wanting info about my political asylum status that my lawyers could not answer. So a JPT was held on Fri Aug 8th and Mon Aug 11th where my lawyers were in court at the request of the Crown wanting to know about my Political Asylum application of which my Canadian lawyers have provided the Crown and residing Judge receipt of me filing for Political Asylum in the USA. My lawyers in USA have advised me that I can not return to Canada. The Crown and Judge knows this and yet they still continue to double down and commit lawfare against me and my Canadian Lawyer (for two days they fought it out over one question am I going to be attending my trial in person starting in October). The ANSWER is NO, I will never return to Canada because that would put my political asylum case in jeopardy. THE CROWN AND JUDGE KNOW THIS. Prior to the 8th, my lawyers and the crown met and discussed the correct way to proceed would be to adjourn my trial pending the result of my political asylum application. This is where is gets crazy, they get into court and the Crown flips flops and is pissed off that they have lost control and are desperate, because they realize they need a reason they can breech me before October… which is why they removed my Canadian Lawyers right to appear on my behalf and have demanded that I appear in person on Aug 26th.

 

What happens next: On Aug 26th, my lawyer will appear without me, repeat the same message, that I can not return to Canada as per my USA Lawyers advice and ask for an adjournment The judge and crown can then proceed with a breech, and issue an Extradition Warrant which can take years to process.

 

Just so you know, an Extradition Warrant takes years to process. This is not something I will wake up on the 27th and have police putting me in handcuffs and flying me back to Canada. I assure you lots of rumors will start over this because people will have opinions, yet they will never be entitled to the truth.

 

How this works - I hire another criminal lawyer in the USA and I appear in court in the USA where I have the upper hand. REMEMBER I am deeply protected by International Laws because of my Political Asylum Status - and the 1st Amendment which has no loop holes unlike the Charter of No Rights and the not withstanding clause that the crown has abused to politically prosecute the Freedom Convoy.

There’s now a real-life “hot blob” of rock 125 miles below the Appalachian Mountains, according to a study, and it’s heading toward New York City.

While you might want to run, you do not need to rush; it won’t reach New York for another 10 to 15 million years.

 

A recent study published in the journal Geology took a closer look at the “hot blob,” which is 220 miles wide and is made of unusually hot rock below the Earth’s crust.

Researchers from the University of Southampton found that the blob is likely the reason the Appalachian Mountains have not eroded over time.

 

However, geologist Doug Prose believes it is unlikely to ever reach The Big Apple.

“There’s actually a controversy about whether it’s moving or not,” Prose told “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.”

 

“What it appears to be doing is tracking along with the Earth’s crust. The Earth’s crust is made out of tectonic plates; they move, and the whole North American plate is moving about one inch per year to the west.

These blobs are moving along with the plates, so they’re actually probably never going to detach and move under New York,” he said.

 

“It’s not going to someday come up through the Earth’s crust and ooze into the subway… all this heat is trying to get out… and the blob has erupted volcanoes.

This very area here, but that was 90 million years ago, we don’t have to worry about it erupting any new volcanoes anytime soon.”

New EU Media "Freedom Law" Allows For Journalist Arrests If Justified By "Public Interest"

 

A shield for reporters on paper, it hands governments the pen to rewrite the rules.

 

The European Union’s “European Media Freedom Act” became binding law across all member states on August 8, but behind its name lies a set of provisions that could restrict the very freedoms it claims to safeguard.

 

We obtained a copy of the act for you here.

 

Alongside language about protecting reporters, the regulation authorizes arrests, sanctions, and surveillance of journalists whenever authorities say it serves an “overriding reason in the general interest.”

 

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, hailed the legislation’s arrival on social media, saying, “A free and independent press is an essential pillar of our democracy. With our European Media Freedom Act, we want to improve their protection. This allows journalists to continue their important work safely and without disruption or intimidation.”

 

Although the law outlines protections such as prohibiting spyware or coercion to expose sources, those assurances are undercut by built-in loopholes.

 

Governments can bypass them if their actions are allowed under national or EU law and deemed proportionate to a vaguely defined “general interest.”

 

That permission extends to intrusive surveillance technologies in cases tied to crimes carrying a maximum prison term of three years or more, a list that ranges from terrorism and human trafficking to offenses labeled as “racism and xenophobia.”

 

The legislation also orders each country to maintain registers of media owners and addresses. It targets so-called “disinformation,” accusing some media outlets of manipulating the single market to spread falsehoods.

 

Large online platforms are portrayed as choke points for access to news, blamed for fueling polarization.

 

To confront this, the EU wants tighter cooperation between national regulators, overseen by a European Media Services Board made up of member state regulators and a Commission representative. Although labeled independent, the board’s secretariat is run by the Commission, giving it an inside track on the decision-making process.

 

Another element of the act involves pushing “trustworthy media” and reinforcing state broadcasters through transparent appointment processes and stable public funding.

 

Annual gatherings between EU officials, internet companies, media representatives, and NGOs are encouraged to assess how disinformation initiatives are being carried out.

 

Despite being sold as a shield for press freedom, the structure of the act gives Brussels and national authorities the ability to decide which voices remain active and which can be silenced. By allowing arrests, surveillance, and tighter state involvement in the media landscape, it risks turning from a safeguard into a tool for control.

Ukraine’s army has slipped into a rigid, Soviet-style command culture marked by the suppression of any initiative on the battlefield, according to a Wall Street Journal report on Tuesday, citing soldiers who say they are sent on futile frontal assaults and denied tactical withdrawals.

 

Ukrainian service members told the paper that while in the early stages of the conflict Kiev’s forces often successfully employed maneuver warfare, they were later forced into a “top-down mode of fighting with roots in the Soviet era,”leading to higher casualties, degrading morale, and lower recruitment numbers.

 

Some generals are said to be ordering repeat attacks “that have little hope of success,” as well as operations “with little strategic value,” while refusing retreat requests from units in peril, the report said.

 

Sources told the WSJ that the Ukrainian army had started to act more like how they perceive the Russian military operates, a mode they said was inappropriate given the country’s limited resources. “Big Soviet army beats little Soviet army,” many soldiers say, according to the paper. Capt. Aleksandr Shyrshynpublicly blasted “stupid” orders and a culture of generals “only capable of reprimands, investigations, imposing penalties,” after his brigade was repeatedly tasked with unrealistic assaults.

In February 2023, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital quietly removed a display of artwork from one of its corridors.

 

The artwork, a collection of decorated plates, had been designed by schoolchildren in Gaza. It depicted symbols of peace and the desire for an independent Palestinian state.

 

The plates had been on the walls of the hospital for over a decade, but a strongly worded letter from UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) ensured they were promptly taken down.

 

UKLFI director Caroline Turner was quick to claim victory. “We are pleased that the hospital has responded positively to its patients’ complaints,” she declared.

 

A freedom of information request subsequently forced the hospital to admit it had not received a single complaint about the display, but the artwork was not restored.

 

UKLFI has since launched several aggressive campaigns against expressions of solidarity with Palestine, including pressuring an NHS trust to ban staff from wearing pro-Palestine badges.

 

But a landmark complaint has now been lodged against the pro-Israel lawyers by the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC) and the European Legal Support Center (ELSC).

 

The 114-page report, which has been sent to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), says UKLFI is using the law improperly to threaten civil society groups and is operating as an unregulated legal firm.

 

PILC solicitor Paul Heron told Declassified:

 

“UKLFI are acting in a manner that chills public participation and intimidates those who stand in solidarity with Palestine. We will not allow legal threats to shut down the public’s right to speak out on Palestine. The SRA has a duty to step in, to uphold professional standards, and to protect civil society from intimidation dressed up as law.”

This came up last night. Considering we are in a spiritual war, I wanted to know if this is part of it and if you have any theories on what's happening in this particular situation. I know we all live in different locations, but I want to know if you are experiencing this too. I live in the same place I grew up, been here my whole life. When I'd walk the neighborhood or water my lawn, or be out and about, I would say "hello" or "good morning" to strangers I'd pass by, if they were looking at me as we passed. I always felt like we were building community and bettering our society when you'd greet a passerby. I started noticing about 15 or 20 years ago that people weren't responding anymore, but it's not like they were just ignoring me. They would be looking deep, right into my eyes, locked onto my eyes and when I would smile and say "hi" they would frown or scowl and then look away. This is pretty much a constant now in the neighborhood I grew up in, and it's so sad. If they weren't looking at me and I said hi, I would understand that some people are just in their own world, but they are staring at me and when I say hi, they scowl and look away. I once heard the UFC fighter Tito Ortiz say that he actually moved his entire family across the Country because he was sick and tired of "watering his lawn and someone walking by is looking right at him and he said hi and they looked away and kept walking. He said that started happening so much he gave up on his own home-town to move. I haven't heard if it's different in his new location. Does anybody have any theories on what's happening? I would just assume I live in a bad place if I was new but I grew up here, I remember what it used to be like, with people greeting each other. Someone once said that Witches or Satanists intentionally go around doing this behavior to get a community to stop with kind greetings but I have no evidence of that. Any help would be appreciated. One last thing, I know in Japan, they don't greet strangers in public streets, but if you're friends it's different, but that's Japan's culture not ours. I long for the good old days, or if there are communities that still say "hi," I would 100% be willing to move there away from my lifetime hometown, that's how important it is to me. Trump's newest DC crime crackdown yields more than 100 arrests

 

Trump announced Monday that he was federalizing the local police department under section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, which allows the president to assume emergency control of the capital's police force for 30 days.

 

Law enforcement officials have arrested a total of 103 individuals as of Wednesday morning since Aug. 7, which includes 43 who were arrested Tuesday, a White House official told Fox Digital Wednesday morning. A Legacy Erased: Happy Birthday, George SorosPart One

George Soros turns 95 today, and for his birthday present America brought him the annihilation of his legacy.

 

Soros has been known for two things: making money and spending it on political influence. Over the last few years, he has handed over control of his empire to his son, Alex, and Alex seems unable to do either of those things successfully.

 

The money

First, Alex ruined his reputation for making money. George was once known as “the man who broke the bank of England,” famous for making $1 billion in one day by sniffing out arbitrage opportunities in currency exchange markets.

 

Taking control of Soros Fund Management, Alex became the man who broke the bank of Soros. In December 2021, Alex invested $2 billion to buy nearly 20 million shares of an electric vehicle company called Rivian at somewhere between $70 and $100 per share. It was one of the largest one-off investments the fund had ever made.

 

A year later, Rivan shares were selling for just $18 and Soros Fund Management sold at a loss of what must have been more than $1 billion. HedgeFollow, a website that tracks and ranks U.S. hedge fund performances, currently gives Soros Fund Management a performance rating of 1 out of 5 stars, making it one of the least successful in the country.

 

The politics

Alex is as talented at making billions vanish as George was at making them appear, but maybe he inherited some of his dad’s skill for political maneuvering and network building?

 

Well, no, not really.

 

Alex has become famous for posting photos of himself posing with Democratic politicians and liberal world leaders, but the actual influence of the George’s network seems to have been greatly diminished. Perhaps related to the massive losses on Rivian, in July 2023 Open Society Foundations announced that it would be laying off 40 percent of its staff worldwide, halting all new grants until February 2024, and completely changing its operating model. What had once been an international network of influence peddling was slashed to the bone.

 

The crowning achievement of the Open Society Network under Alex so far was the passage of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Open Society staffers, such as Tom Perriello, were so involved in pushing the legislation that Open Society Policy Center briefly re-opened lobbying operations and became one of the top lobbying spenders in the nation. Perriello was on the floor of the House when the bill was passed. (Capital Research Center has written at length on Soros’ involvement in the IRA. The research can be found here.)

 

Billions of dollars for EV chargers (that never got built) and billions more for EV tax credits were crammed into to the bill, seemingly the perfect bandage for Rivian’s revenue troubles. The IRA even allocated $3 billion for purchasing electric delivery trucks for the postal service, and Rivian is one of the biggest producers of electric delivery vans. But, despite the EV subsidies and green energy handouts, the bill came too little and too late to save Soros’ investment in Rivian.

 

This period coincided with another of Alex’s big political maneuvers: Spending at least $4 million on Stacey Abrams’s failed gubernatorial campaign in Georgia. During that time, Rivian was starting to build a “giga-factory” outside of Atlanta and, most importantly, asking the state government for subsidies. In the eleventh hour of the Biden administration, Rivian was also awarded $6.5 billion loan for the factory from the Department of Energy. Construction on the factory has yet to even start, and Rivian stock currently trades at less than $12 per share.

The decline and fall of the Soros DA’s

Part Two

George’s most notable political achievement, one so famous that his name was used to coin the term for it, was the funding of the “Soros DAs.”

 

One of George’s goals for decades has been to end of the War on Drugs and implement a total overhaul of the American criminal justice system. To that end, he has funded soft-on-crime think tanks and pro-legalization ballot initiatives.

 

And then, in a showcase of the financial genius that made him a billionaire, George spotted a political arbitrage opportunity. He realized his immense fortune could make an outsized impact if he supported soft-on-crime politicians running to become local prosecutors and district attorneys.

 

A lot of them won. And then, “Soros DA” became a political lightning rod as soaring murder and violent crime rates followed behind George’s donations.

 

Coupled with the “reforms” and defunding of the police that were popularized during the summer of 2020, the Soros DA became a nationwide blight on urban areas. While left-leaning pundits, researchers, and think tanks, frequently funded by Soros, tried to explain away the spike in crime and blame it on the pandemic, guns, or economic hardship, Americans grew more discontented with the “reform” they had been promised.

 

Today, more than a dozen Soros DA’s have been removed from office by recalls, scandals, or simply not seeking re-election. And the spike in urban crime ended up being a key factor for the Democratic Party’s defeat in 2024.

 

The demise of the Soros DA is more than a rejection of Soros’ legacy on criminal justice policy. It was also a rejection of his legacy on immigration. As one might guess from a name like “Open Society,” Soros is a proponent of open borders. One reason Soros began funding DAs in 2016 was to create “sanctuary cities” that would be the heart of the so-called “resistance.”

 

The second election of Donald Trump—in a race where crime, immigration, and the IRA were three of the major issues—was America’s personal slap to George Soros’ face. Today, on his 95th birthday, his legacy is in shambles.

==Jeff Gray, Military Veteran and considered by many to be the GOAT and "Godfather" of civil rights auditors, was issued a two year trespass for lawfully exercising his well established constitutionally protected rights in a public forum. On 7/10/25 between the hours of 3 pm through 4 pm I was peacefully and politely enjoying my constitutionally protected rights to freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of assembly on a traditional public forum. The location where I was standing when I was trespassed is the public park area between the COSA Parking Garage and the COSA Welcome/Information Center. Apparently a COSA employee called the police on me for peacefully exercising my rights. Officer Jonathan Correa ultimately trespassed me from the COSA Parking Garage, the COSA Welcome/Information Center and the “entire area” for a period of two years. Officer Correa informed that the trespass was being requested by the Director of the COSA Welcome/Information Center per the authorization of the City Attorney.

 

>My Reasonable Demands…

 

>1 - I am demanding that the unjust, and unlawful trespass be immediately and completely rescinded so that I may return to the area and enjoy my rights.

 

>2 - If it is decided not to rescind the trespass I am officially demanding my right to a trespass appeal hearing.

>You were issued this trespass warning because you were in violation of the City of St. Augustine's Code Section 22-522 (c) which states:

>2.The Visitor Information Center, Historic >Downtown Parking Facility, and the promenade area between the VIC and the Parking Facility.

 

>The City of St. Augustine has not designated this area a public forum ("free speech zone"), but rather limited the use by the public of this limited purpose facility to those uses enumerated in Resolution 2009-38 (providing parking, visitor information, historical, and educational services and opportunities related to the history and culture of St. Augustine, as determined by the City). Not all publicly owned facilities are automatically public forums. There is a posted sign (attached) reminding the public that the facilities are not a public forum. As management at the Visitor Information Center (VIC) informed you, no one is allowed to stand outside with signs in the VIC, the promenade, or the Historic Downtown Parking Facility. When you refused to put away the sign you were holding, you were issued a trespass warning. There are other areas around the City where you can hold your sign, such as City sidewalks along public streets, where it is not prohibited (as long as you do not obstruct the flow of pedestrian traffic). Based on our code and longstanding requirements enumerated in the resolution, this trespass warning will not be lifted. However, you are permitted to return to the VIC or Parking facility if your purpose there is limited to their intended functions (i.e. to park, visit the gift shop or VIC for information about the city) and not to participate in any activity that violates City code, such as violating the terms of use of this limited purpose facility by attempting to use it as a traditional public forum.

 

>In addition, you were issued a trespass warning not to return to the VIC and City Parking Garage. You were not issued a citation in violation of city code 22-533 (which is a noncriminal infraction with a fine up to $250) or charged with a criminal offense of trespass under Chapter 810 of the Florida Statutes, so at this time there is nothing to "appeal." However, if you return to this area and engage in the same conduct you can be charged with a violation of our code and/or a criminal misdemeanor offense that carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine not to exceed $1,000 in County Court.
