Trump FTC Takes Action Against Pornhub Over Child Sexual Abuse Material.

President Donald J. Trump‘s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced on Wednesday that it will join Utah in a settlement action and consent order against a number of adult content websites, including Pornhub and RedTube. The Utah Attorney General’s office and the FTC contend the websites “deceived users by doing little to block tens of thousands of videos and photos featuring child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and nonconsensual material (NCM) despite claiming that this content was ‘strictly prohibited.'”

“Pornhub’s operators turned a blind eye to the proliferation of videos depicting the sexual abuse of children on its sites so it could profit off this exploitation,” the FTC’s Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Christopher Mufarrige, said in a statement. He continued: “Under the order we’re announcing today, Pornhub’s operators will be required to take concrete steps to block this harmful content and ensure that those who appear in videos on their sites are consenting adults.”

FTC Commissioner Melissa Holyoak accused the adult content websites of having “inflicted grave harm on children and nonconsenting adults by promoting and distributing truly horrific material online.” She added: “As today’s complaint and proposed order make clear, the FTC will use every tool in its arsenal to stop such outrageous conduct.”

The proposed settlement and consent order take direct action against Pornhub’s parent company, Aylo—formerly known as MindGeek—which operates more than 100 pornographic photo and video-streaming websites. Among Aylo’s largest pornographic website properties are Pornhub, YouPorn, and RedTube, which boast hundreds of millions of monthly visitors in the United States alone.

Utah and the FTC contend that Aylo “deceived users by claiming it has zero tolerance for CSAM and works to block CSAM and NCM on its sites by, among other things, taking prompt action when videos are flagged by users.” However, in reality, the company—according to Utah’s complaint—failed to take any concrete action to remove flagged content, ban uploaders of CSAM, or prevent the reupload of removed content.

The settlement action and consent order impose a $15 million federal fine against Aylo, which will be suspended if the company pays a lesser $5 million fine to Utah. Additionally, Aylo will be required to no longer misrepresent its policies regarding CSAM and NCM.

Other provisions include a requirement for Aylo to enact “a program to prevent the publication or dissemination of CSAM and NCM content,” a thorough verification system for those appearing in uploaded content, and to remove offending content uploaded prior to the “implementation of the CSAM and NCM prevention program.”

ADemocrat commissioner in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, was one of nearly two dozen suspects arrested in connection with a "massive drug investigation" that spanned several years — and several states.

On Thursday, members of the Lehigh County Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Bethlehem Police Department and other agencies, arrested Commissioner Zach Cole-Borghi at Bethlehem City Hall, where he worked as an open records officer. Cole-Borghi was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to deliver a pound of marijuana. He paid $50,000 bond and was released.

Cole-Borghi, a first-term commissioner who won the Democratic primary for District 3 unopposed earlier this year, was just one of 22 individuals arrested in connection with this case. Britain’s Ministry of Defence might imminently award a 15-year contract, worth £2.5bn, to a consortium headed by the British subsidiary of the Israeli arms firm Elbit Systems and including the U.S. management consultancy firm, Bain and Company.

If successful, Elbit’s consortium would be responsible for training as many as 60,000 members of the U.K. military.

The consortium seems well-placed to win the contract; it is, in fact, one of only two shortlisted and preferred bidders.

The Ministry of Defence has already given the consortium a £2m contract so that it can develop its proposals further.

This is unacceptable. And it is frankly unbelievable that this consortium is even in the running considering its track record.

Elbit Systems UK is the fully owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Limited. Elbit Systems Limited is headquartered in Tel Aviv and is listed on both the Israeli and U.S. stock exchanges.

Elbit is one of the two largest Israeli weapons manufacturers and is central to the IDF’s operations, providing 85% of its drones. Elbit International is also a major contributor to the F-35 fighter jet program, bragging that it plays a “critical role” in the “success of the world’s most advanced fighter jet.”

Seattle City Attorney sues Glock over converted handguns

"The Glock switch puts the public at risk, it puts children and families at risk, and it puts our law enforcement personnel and first responders at risk."

Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison announced Tuesday that she has filed a civil lawsuit in King County Superior Court against gun manufacturer Glock, Inc., its Austrian parent company Glock GES.m.b.H., and three local retailers authorized to sell Glock firearms.

The complaint names Pantel Tactical, Bull’s Eye Indoor Range, LLC, and Rainier Arms, LLC, alleging that the companies knowingly sell handguns that can be illegally modified into fully automatic weapons with the addition of a device known as a “Glock switch.”

According to the lawsuit, a Glock handgun fitted with a switch can fire up to 30 rounds in two seconds, creating what Davison described as a severe danger to the public. “The Glock switch puts the public at risk, it puts children and families at risk, and it puts our law enforcement personnel and first responders at risk,” Davison said in a statement. “Glock knowingly manufactures a gun that can very easily be converted into an automatic weapon. I will hold corporations putting public safety at risk as accountable as the criminals who violate our state and city laws.”

The filing argues that Glock’s design allows the small metal “sear” inside the handgun, which typically prevents rapid-fire discharges, to be bypassed with the addition of the switch. Other gunmakers, Davison said, use manufacturing techniques that prevent this type of easy conversion.

The city is asking the court to order Glock to modify its handguns so they cannot be converted to automatic fire with the simple application of a switch.

“Unlike its competitors, who choose to use different, safer standards, Glock chooses to prioritize profits over public safety,” Davison said. “I’m bringing this litigation because of the massive increase in gun violence caused by converted Glocks. By using this civil remedy, and continuing to use criminal prosecution community-wide, we will fight gun violence both upstream and downstream.”

Seattle police data cited in the lawsuit shows a significant rise in shell casings recovered at crime scenes, increasing from 2,514 in 2020 to 5,746 in 2023. The department also reported 38 incidents involving recovered Glock switches in 2024, up from 20 in 2023.

Last May, three people killed in Pioneer Square were believed to have been shot with weapons converted using Glock switches, according to authorities.

At the same time, the City of Seattle does not provide statistics on how many crimes are committed by re-offenders or convicted felons, leaving gaps in the public’s understanding of the role repeat offenders play in the city’s gun violence crisis.

State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman issued a harsh report Wednesday criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, holding them responsible for failures in handling the civilian front since the outbreak of the Iron Swords war on October 7, 2023.

“Hundreds of thousands of residents experienced firsthand the failures of the government of Israel in managing the civilian domain during the Iron Swords war,” Englman wrote in the report published Wednesday dealing with the government’s management of civilian affairs during the war.

Netanyahu called the report “an irrelevant document” and its conclusions “baseless,” saying “the timing of its publication is puzzling and raises questions.”

Englman, who is expected to release additional reports in the coming weeks, responded: “The State Comptroller and the audit teams will continue fulfilling their public role despite attacks from the prime minister, the opposition chairman and other reviewed officials in recent times. Oversight of the political, military and civilian leadership will continue as I made clear from the outset.”

During tours across the country, Englman found shortages of manpower in essential factories, a lack of professional psychological support, a shortage of government representatives at sites housing evacuees, and failures in the payment of grants and compensation. Despite the National Emergency Authority’s assessment that civilian preparedness was “medium to good,” Englman said the government’s response required significant improvement.

Englman found numerous deficiencies in the performance of Netanyahu, ministers and other senior officials. Unlike most comptroller reports in recent years, this one specifically named officials tied to the failures and detailed the shortcomings for which each was responsible.

The ongoing failures, he wrote, came at the expense of ordinary Israelis in need of urgent assistance. Government decisions made after the outbreak of the war failed to achieve their goals and ultimately collapsed due to a dysfunctional framework lacking proper preparation.

Englman wrote that, throughout Netanyahu’s long years in office, he failed to ensure that longstanding gaps in civilian emergency management—known since the Second Lebanon War—were resolved, including through his power to set the government’s agenda. In particular, authority and responsibility for managing the civilian aspects of the home front during war were never fully defined.

Netanyahu, who has served as prime minister for 13 of the 14.5 years between March 2009 and the outbreak of the war, “was obligated to act to ensure a response to years of deficiencies in civilian emergency management,” Engelman wrote.

The report also criticized short-term premiers Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid. Bennett, during his year in office from June 2021 to June 2022, and Lapid, during his half-year tenure from June 2022 until December 2022, “did not act on this issue either.”

California's mask commissars are once again clamoring for Americans to cover their faces.

During the pandemic, Democrat leaders and health officials in the Golden State proved eager to condition Americans' ability to leave the house and to perform basic errands on wearing a mask.

"Bring your mask with you whenever you leave your home," said former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. "That will help us get more freedoms."

On June 18, 2020 — just over a month after L.A. reopened its beaches — the California Department of Public Health announced that Californians were required to wear face coverings in public spaces; when obtaining services from the health care sector; when waiting for or riding on public transportation; when engaged in work with other members of the public; and "while outdoors in public spaces when maintaining a physical distance of six feet from persons who are not members of the same household."

"Simply put, we are seeing too many people with faces uncovered," said Gavin Newsom — the Democrat governor who months later issued a statewide order expanding the mask requirement to most indoor and outdoor settings.

Newsom issued his order despite evidence that masks, like the COVID-19 vaccines, weren't as effective as some proponents liked to pretend.

For instance, the Centers for Disease Control's peer-reviewed journal, Emerging Infectious Diseases, published a study in May 2020 that found "no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks."

The researchers stated, "There is limited evidence for [disposal medical masks'] effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure. Our systematic review found no significant effect of face masks on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza."

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has taken aim at the Greens after a movement to prohibit politicians from wearing the Australian flag in Parliament.

Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price was initially ordered to remove the Australian flag she had draped across her shoulders on Wednesday while saying Australians needed to reclaim pride in the flag.

Price, the Shadow Minister for Defence Industry, had draped the flag across her shoulders to mark 124 years since it was first flown.

“There’s a constellation of 5 stars, the Southern Cross, a reminder of our unique place in the world and the common geography Australians share,” Senator Price told the Senate.

“My elders from a tiny community near Tennant Creek have spoken about how the Southern Cross is part of dreaming, or Jukurrpa, so contrary to the views of activists, Australians certainly are represented by our national flag.”

But her remarks were interrupted by Greens Senator Nick McKim, who raised a point of order.

“I do want to make the point that if it’s OK for Senator Nampijinpa Price to wrap herself in this flag, I would intend to wrap myself in a Palestinian flag,” he said.

A young man who survived years of abuse at the hands of convicted Bega Cheese paedophile Maurice Van Ryn has issued a powerful plea for victims to be allowed to access their abusers' superannuation.

In a raw and confronting message to Australia's politicians, Edan van Haren described the lasting trauma of abuse by Van Ryn, the CEO of the household name cheese company, who was sentenced to nine years in jail in 2019.

Van Haren said Van Ryn created a 'paedophilic-friendly environment' that assisted in the abuse of the young man.

Van Ryn pleaded guilty in 2014 to abusing 10 boys and girls, aged eight to 16, over the previous decade.

At the time he told the court there had never been a time in his life when he wasn't sexually attracted to children and he just wasn't able to resist the urge.

His house had a spa, pool and tennis court and the 'added attraction' of computer games and alcohol which 'enticed' young people, according to court documents.

Van Haren was awarded $1.4 million in damages but has yet to receive any compensation due to a legal loophole that allows convicted offenders to shield assets through bankruptcy and superannuation protections.

'Imagine spending your childhood being controlled, manipulated and sexually abused,' he wrote.

'Imagine being 29 and still remembering exactly what positions he put you in.

'I have spent the last 15 years trying to forget it. But guess what I can't.

'I probably never will, every time I was abused is stuck in my head like a repeating record.'
